Chapter 871: "Go Caesar!"
-
-
Thanks HTC for the chapter!
-
I'm going to be really disappointed if there is not a Bart cosplayer at the next con I go to giving these pins out.
-
wasnt the tamatebako originally a trap for the thiefs, who would dare to break into the treasure room in the ryugu palace?
i doubt they were preparing it with explosives strong enough to bring down big moms castle if it was anticipated to go off inside the Palace:ninja:well i stand corrected:blink:
-
Kinda confusing why Luffy went at Big Mom with G4 when he knew he would be powerless a minute later. Nonetheless, it was a good chapter.
-
Big Mom about Kaido:
"… you will never take down that thing."
This of course only applies if Mangastream's infamously unreliable translation is right this time… Linlin refering to Kaido as a "thing" is very interesting. It almost has this mysterious vibe we got when Marco talked about Teach's abnormal body structure...
-
What a fun chapter. "You're still trash Caesar !" Hahaha
-
Go ahead, I dare someone question Big Mom's credibility now.
Wasn't expecting Stussy being CP-0, but I bet Greg knew all along she was, right Greg?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And no Ceasar, you are still not Nakama.
-
Knowing that CP-0 extends far deeper than just CP9 jabronis is very nice, and as usual, Oda didn't include them in the flashback for nothing :ninja:

He took the bait at least he did not end up like his brother lol.
BM pirates just destroy everyone going to be interesting to see what happens now. -
off to read the chapter
-
Oh my for god for once I'm impressed with Big Mom pirates. Even Smoothie did something!
-
Judge just pulled a Doflamingo there.
-

BM pirates just destroy everyone going to be interesting to see what happens now.Yeah, I know, but if you're gonna be dead tired after that punch, at least, fight until the G4's time run out. It looked like it was Luffy who disabled G4.
-
Don't really like how Oda skipped all the defeats.
Also, bomb causing the tower to collapse seemed like too obvious and simple of a solution, but I guess fishman minister really meant business when he packed C4 inside that box.
It was an enjoyable chapter, though.
-
Em, why did Luffy lose his power? Did he use up all of his haki in that single attack to Big Mom?
-

"Just one punch". He took the bait and wanted to prove a point. It was similar to the Shanks/Whitebeard blow that broke the clouds back in Volume 45 I guess.
-

Did you forgot what G4 does to his body?
-
Did you forgot what G4 does to his body?
G4 is sustained by ridiculous amount of haki, which drains him out. But he lasted quite a bit longer than 1 attack when he used it against Doflamingo.
-
Not only they have ruined the Tea Party, destroyed the cake, attempted an assassination, tried to save the Germa and thus take away their technology from her, but on top of all of that now they have destroyed her castle that has stood there for decades (because BM is probably going to assume that explosion was their doing). If the cake theory is going to be true, now is the moment, now is the moment for Big Mom to go completely and utterly nuts like she never was before!
-
So G4 cannot handle Big Mom's CoA huh? I guess it's time for G5
Also , as usual , Sanji is a fodder who got stomped by their enemies (Jinbei's taking the position as new Monster Trio)
@KageKageKing:Did you forgot what G4 does to his body?
But he only used one attack. Previously , he can maintain G4 for longer time.
-

Yeah but don't forget that luffy has been pushing him self this whole arc .
Even if got some rest i don't think he would be any where near ready to go all out on BM. -
I'm confused by Judge's monologue. I guess I'll wait for Jaimini.
EDIT: I think I get it now, but it was still awkwardly phrased.
-
Can someone tell me what the sound of BM´s fist is supposed to mean in the upper left panel?
-
Good chapter. Shame the running Straw hats were stopped off-panel, nevertheless I will consider the Big Mom pirates redeemed in terms of efficiency
Judge's battlecry/monologue could be a glance at Germa's past and ambitions, however MS-brand translation makes it barely understandable. -
Getting some WB flashbacks with Big Mom one shotting vice admiral level threats. Great chapter overall :)
-

I guess 300 years ago they found a foothold for 66 days until being uprooted….
-

We were not shown all of the action
-

It was the sound of "Is that all you got? Mamamama"
-
Lol Barto, Did he just selling Straw Hat accessories?
-
Luffy doesn't appear so weak in this exchange that the next arc would be implausible. I'm comfortable with the dominance of the BM pirates (in that it seems sufficient), and I liked the respect/foreshadowing for Kaido
-
Stussy's reveal was great. I just hope she gets more than a few panels for the rest of the arc. CP0 gets their cameo in at least.
Brûlée finally gets a little revenge lol. Cracker needs to be next!
-
There is a huge "?" before Luffy transforms back, so yeah Big Mom used some kind of power to put an end to Gear 4th.
-
Oda must really want to start the Reverie. Everyone got off-paneled in like 3 pages just to set up the bomb save.
-
While it would've been nice to see more of Big Mom's crew fight, seeing the results of their domination was still pretty great to see. If Luffy taking on Big Mom later will actually be something that happens, then it would make sense for Oda not to show them off too much, and just use this moment to show how even with the alliance taking on a Yonko will be a huge struggle. Overall I'm happy with this outcome, as there was a victory against a commander but showed that this will not be one sided fights like we have been getting, and even with a victory the winner will not really be up for fighting any more. I'm hoping with all this build up the actual fight against Kaido's crew will be one to remember, especially if we can actually have focus on the fights.

they have repeated continuously since the pln was in place that they COULD NOT win a normal fight against them, it wouldn't make sense for them to hold their own against an entire yonkou crew

I think he's just tired you know.
-
Damn, talk about luffy letting Sanji down. First he fails to break carmels photo so Brooke has to. Now he forces Sanji to run back for him and gets both Sanji and Reiju captured. Hope he's proud of his 1 punch he got to throw.
-
I think he's just tired you know.
No I don't. He had food, he slept before the tea party. You mean it was a very short sleep and he didn't get to recover?
-

Or he really threw a single punch then broke away/was snatched back by Sanji. He is not Ace after all, and I'm suspecting Gear 4 ending always has this balloon deflating / countershock effect no matter the duration.
-
One of the best chapters in this arc imo. Can't wait to see how they will escape. Also we'll finally see Judge's eyebrows!
-
I think he's just tired you know.
The meal, milk and bath he had in Bege's castle is all it takes for our favorite hero to be back to 100 % of his endurance.
So he is definitely not tired lol
-

You're overthinking it. Oda needed to set up a instant defeat that lead into the bomb save. Luffy using G4 was a easy way to have him incapacitated. G4 lasts as long as the plot demands it to.
-

So Luffy decided to use the speed of his own deflation to run away rather than Gear 4th's amazing speed…nope.
-

I think the huge question mark is to indicate Big Mom's expression on Luffy's statement : "After I beat Kaidou ,you are next!" (even though I barely can hold G4 for 3 pages)
-

Common, the whole "Luffy only needs a bit of food to recover" is just a joke made by Oda in a sbs.
The dude was still tired at the end of Dressrossa after 3days of sleeping and eating (for instance). -
Oh my, how much firepower did Neptune put in that chest? That's enough to put Pell in bedrest!
-
I can't get access to the raw now but if someone can give me a link I can clear some translation misunderstandings
-
I know it's not Luffy's thing but it he used G4 geppou to fly the whole crew out of there at super speed it might have given them a chance that didn't depend on the explosion. The way Katakuri is manhandling Ichiji was pretty badass and intimidating
I'm glad Luffy didn't get beaten up per se just that his energy drained from G4, not that the eventual outcome would have been any different anyway. BM looked like she was stopping a fly when blocking that punch. Oh wow so if that's what a Yonkou is about and they're all pretty much said to be at a stalemate that means Shanks is probably on this disgustingly powerful level too. Just so weird to think about since in stature he's the smallest of all four lol -
I think the huge question mark is to indicate Big Mom's expression on Luffy's statement : "After I beat Kaidou ,you are next!" (even though I barely can hold G4 for 3 pages)
Luffy said"Just one punch" he probably only had the energy for "See this? I aint going down easy "
