If it wasn't timed then I might do better, but unfortunately my kanji knowledge isn't quite up to snuff to do well on this.

Well, I got a B grade. Not bad I guess, considering I don't know Japanese.
Bringing up my post from August of last year when the series had just started.
Huh, that IS an interesting approach to take here. I, for one, am really glad that the ones who saved them are not human. It just felt too soon for something like this to happen. I was really happy with this new twist and can't wait to see where this goes.
!
! I think there was 6 that involved japanese and I got one of them right through a guess. Of the 9 pure logic ones I just missed 3. I got lucky with the picture question that had the moon, the sun, and the tree among other things. But there was one that I know I couldn't have gotten with an hour of time. The ABCD = 2 OOOO = 1 etc. Wtf was that.
! These fictional kids are too damn smart for their own good.
This is a manga after the end of the tests

This is a manga after the end of the tests
Translation:
! "My name is William Minerva. I wield the banner of revolution. Once more for you I will end Neverland, the human world. I will make you a new promise. First flee the plantation and come to a different place. I will wait for you, all of you."
I'm a touch iffy on that third sentence, but that's what I get from it.
The pages are four, two if you complete the test and the other two (the minerva ones) if you got a full score.

! Congratulations. You have an impressive, completely correct full score. To see this page means you have answered all. I wonder how many people will reach here? This is only a quiz. An entertainment. I am glad if you had fun. However, what if every day you nonchalantly were taking an assessment test to decide if you live or die? Study is . . . to learn and to think.
I'm sorry, I can do the last two bubbles there because one of those kanji is impossible to read.
Page 2: See above.
Page 3:
! Mama: How wonderful. A high score. Congratulations!
Kids: Thanks, Mama!
Mama: As a reward, this is the grand reveal the origin of your names to the three of you!
Kids: Origins of our names!?
Page 4:
! Mama: Ray is Ray Charles. Emma just is. Norman is Norman Rockwell. You two boys should be "One (?) English name" and "One stateless, sexless name", I thought . . . and then just so to my right was a record of Ray Charles, and to my left was a Norman Rockwell art book.
Ray, Norman: How . . . appropriate.
Emma: Ma-mama, why is my name just . . .?
Mama: I thought it was cute.
Emma: !
Mama: A cute, cool name with two characters* that doesn't**. It came right to me!
Emma: Mama!
Mama: By the way, Toma and Ranion are a tomato and an onion. Whether you believe me or not is up to you.
! *(two characters = four letters)
**(I have no idea how to translate this, but she's basically saying a name who's writing doesn't take over or oppress a speech balloon. Weird, yeah?)
! Ray was named after Ray Charles? What?
! Ray was named after Ray Charles? What?
Honest to God. I may not know all my kanji but I can read that much.
! Ray was named after Ray Charles? What?
Yes. There's even a footnote under it saying "the singer" specifically.
*(two characters = four letters)
**(I have no idea how to translate this, but she's basically saying a name who's writing doesn't take over or oppress a speech balloon. Weird, yeah?)
"A name that's cute, cool, and short enough using only two kana letters so as to not take up space in the speech balloons. It was the first name I decided."
Also, "How.. appropriate" is incorrect. Yes, the word "tekitou" does have that meaning, but that definition is hardly ever used in the Japanese language.
99.9% of the time tekitou means nonchalantly or lazily. With the context here, it implies assigning names without giving it much thought. So "Wow… how lazy" would be the appropriate translation here.
Oh and btw, just in case it wasn't obvious to some, Mama's breaking 4th wall all over the place here and speaking for the author. This isn't an in-universe context.

Thank you, Sensei. A dictionary can only take you so far.
They are aliens, aren't them?
So, they don't evolve their intelligence by eating human brains as many fans thought, i'm glad of that it wouldn't have been a very creative idea.
At this point the first 2 explanation that come in my mind are that either they're aliens or they're artificially created living beings, like human clones with very modified genes.
If it's religion alone keeping these outcasts from eating the children, then that is not very promising. Truly their only salvation will be in finding a "demon"/human society that can coexist. That is with true understanding of each other and not just through devotion to a religion. That isn't to say that these two could not come to a more rational view on reasons to not eat the children.

that thought was in my mind since one of the first chapters too.

I don't think you can discount that religion and faith are non-rational just yet.
For all we know the "demons" may have a higher being in actual existence they worship.

I guess you are right on not being able to discount the supernatural this early, but I do feel as though it would not make much sense for that to be a standing stone for the humans and others to base their relationship on.
Spoiler of chapter 47 are out.
! Source 2ch/tieba, translated by Erinyes on mangahelpers forum:
! Rough summary (there may be some mistranslations pliz take it with a grain of salt ) :
! - According to Sonju, seems the world has been like this for quite a long time.
-Ray's wondering if they re possibly not in Earth or if they're not in 2046 but Sonju confirms they are indeed in earth and in 2046.
! Wow. This raised more questions than answers. So it was neither aliens nor genetically created creatures it seems, but just fantasy creatures? But then, how did they divide the 2 worlds back then without technology? And Minerva must be a crazy genius scientist if he managed to travel back to the demon world.
Jung has a mouth, what?

The blank? It's Santa Claus. Guarantee it.
Wouldn't it more likely be the Krampus?
Ooooo, good call.
They are naughty children after all, running away from their Mama.
Oh my. Emma is becoming hardcore.

A relatively quiet chapter for this series.
I really like this chapter.
It's the calm before the storm.
Emma is going to threaten all man-eating demons when she becomes an adult, mark my words.
"I want you to teach me how to take a life."
Damn, Emma ain't playing no games. She's ready to straight bust a cap in some demon ass.
Do they even have guns in this world?
Do they even have guns in this world?
Supposedly the other side seems to be basically exactly similar to ours, demons probably have some equivalent for lawkeeping and other purposes
Sorry if this has been posted before in here, but I hadn't seen it, from Amazon, the first volume is releasing in English December 5.
Just read the new chapter.
! This is probably one of the darkest series WSJ had in a very long time. Jesus fucking Christ
! The concept was dark, but they shouldn't have shown the kids, just the equipment to make it so you have to imagine it. I found it rather toothless. and musica started to trigger deathflags. ]
Chapter is out: http://readms.net/r/neverland/050/4483/1
Please don't let them be Cattle Raiders….
Please don't let them be Cattle Raiders….
Don't think it's going there, it's a lot more interesting if the demons aren't all evil just for shock value besides we already had the " they're demons!!!" line by ray so doing that all again would probably be bad writing.
Well, we knew the world was pretty fucked up already, so it shouldn't be that big a surprise.
Made me think of The Matrix though, and all the "human batteries."

Imhad more the Blade Trinity vibe, Humans are in a state only to get there blood…
Aww, that bitter-sweet smile when Emma was talking about Norman, muh feelings are overflowing~
Really hope Norman's neither dead nor turned into a demon nor unable to ever leave the farm due a bomb implanted on his heart. I don't wanna give up on this ship!
Well, if Mamas-in-training are party kept to have babies, wouldn't be surprised if there are some boys who are kept as sperm-donors.
And Norman would sire some pretty smart babies.
That and they need human doctors and nurses for which you need to be smart enough to receive such an education. After all we saw human doctors and nurses taking care of the birth, not demons. So the high-quality farms have different needs than mass-production ones thus needing more smart people to not be eaten and do key jobs (for example, somebody has to make all those school lessons/texts for the kids to solve) else the quality of their goods suffer.
Haha just helping them that he can in the future hunt humans… harsh... just one of them was nice, what has she told Emma as a parting gift?
