I think Sacred Stones handled branching classes the best. You can add more skills if you want, and maybe even switch between your two classes, but once you start becoming a family planner things start to go south. Even if that's enjoyable in its own way.

they should just make skills like TMs in pokemon
you find and buy them and slap them on which ever units are compatibleit's not like it's beyond their capabilities considering pokemon does it with its 700+ mons each time they add new TMs
-
@S.C.:
I can't help but think I'm taking the piss here. :P
Nah you're just giving Cyan and the other material to snark with.

-
-
i have a name you know :(
It was supposed to be plural as in "the others" not look like I was simply dismissing you as "the other guy".

There are two Cyans now? Yare Yare Daze.

Multiclass is a godsend to those poor souls with great stats and growths but had the misfortune of picking "exclusively using a bow/axe with no defense/thunder magic" as a career choice.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Eideen went to New Class Community College in between Genealogy and Thracia to adapt her "kill stuff fast" skills to the new post-bow recession economy.
-
it's one of those weird things where you'll have characters like the Ninjas in Fates who are all better off in a different class than Ninjas
I think reclassing does devalue the individuality of the units, but it can be a great boon to characters with weird stat spreads or bad growths for their weapons/bad weapons for their growths
-
Backporting multiclass to Radiant Dawn would do hella wonders to the Dawn Brigades weird-ass Gift of the Magi stats.
Here, Nolan, have this Myrmidon set because you're horribly wasted on axes with a fuckin' 70 in Skill and 60 in Speed.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Aran, here's a wyvern.
You are now a better unit than Radiant Dawn Haar. God have mercy on everyone else.
-
I'm about an hour into Echoes now. Really liking all the changes and hubworld stuff to mix up the Fire Emblem formula a bit (don't know how much of it is from the original game since I never played it)

a wyvern doesn't magically change that Aran has the speed of a dead turtle in the best of times
-
See, even if I had the ability to change the classes of everyone in the Dawn Brigade, I'd still be all over the crew of Crimea's army and Ranulf anyway.
-
I just hope there's a merciful god when they remake the Tellius games so most Laguz aren't just utter garbage
-
I hope that Ena is completely excised from the game.
why the fuck am i required to drag your useless ass into the tower

I still weep whenever i remember how Sothe's rancid ass is required
Volke didn't die for this garbage -
Big shout out to Gareth for being the most filler unit in all of Fire Emblem.

hey man, Glade didn't lose that popularity contest so pathetically so that you could disrespect him like this
-
Is it just me or is the map in Echoes a pain?
Im talking about being ambushed because enemy troops are everywhere and they go right for my healers(silk) leading to multiple softresets and wheeling.
And enemy bow Rider is broken early game. So is Brave Sword. Alm soldiers are also considerably tougher to use -

Not.ashamed to admit I actually did some of these.

Celica's side is definitely better because magic is pretty powerful in this game.
Meanwhile Alm and company have to deal with Mire/Death and witches they all have to take gambles on approaching/defending, especially since magic ignores terrain. Slique's Invoke can help a ton in distracting them, but you get it late.
Plus witches LOVE being random. You have no idea where they'll teleport.
-
I actually don't mind the witches. I remember them teleporting to attack me helped me because I slayed then all in a turn before it gets too troublesome.
It's pretty much avoidable to have my units fall to them if I knew they were going to teleport any turn.
Bow riders on the other hand? Those guys are just broken.
Alm units also are weaker I noticed. -
Up to….the final battle?
! Berkut's battle was very hard, partially because of the cramped range-overlapping arena, but also because of Berkut himself - his weapon has high might and is likely to one-round a lot of your dudes. Using Invoke (surprise) to kill Rinea is a must, because she WILL entrap you into Berkut's death range.
! The only way I managed to beat him was to give Delthea the Mage Ring so she could out-range him and nuke him with spells. She's much faster than Genny and Boey, and is about as potent of an attacker as Sonya and Mae. Glad I trained her up.
! After that it's a very very frustrating slog through the rest of the dungeon, where you have to seek out teleporters and pick the right one, otherwise you'll loop and have to find it again. Luckily you can save after the battle.
FINALLY I found the way, but not before finding the Mila Statue (nice touch, the head is gone) for extra saves. You reach a section where it's only Alm against three rounds of terrors. The best strategy I had was to retreat him into the bottom tile so only one monster could attack at a time, then just spam healing items.
! Celica is found, her possession is freed via Falchion (+ more lore for the world, appreciated, but how did get away from Marth's hand…?), and now it's time to gut Jedah and Duma for real. You get to pick 20 units across both parties, including Alm/Celica, so you can easily get the heavy hitters for the team. The map is not as straightfoward or as cheesable as Grima's, so I reckon it'll be a decent challenge. Final team:
! Alm
Celica
Mae
Boey
Genny
Atlas
Saber
Sonya
Valbar
Leon
Gray
Tobin
Kliff
Zeke
Mathilda
Slique
Delthea
Luthier
Lukas
! and yes, I am aware there's an Act VI. :3–- Update From New Post Merge ---
More info on Warriors.
https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/6egzhl/my_own_translation_of_the_fire_emblem_warriors/Main Characters: Shion (VA: Yuma Uchida) Leann (VA: Maaya Uchida) These twins will most likely fight using a sword + board based style.
Crossover Characters: Marth (VA: Hikaru Midorikawa) (Dragon of Darkness and Blade of Light) Chrom (VA: Tomokazu Sugita) (Awakening)
Original Characters: Darius (VA: Takuya Satou) Yuana (VA: Yuka Nagayoshi)
The game is about 70% complete right now.
Here are some interesting tidbits from the interview:- Some might remember that Fire Emblem won the Famitsu survey on which gaming IPs would be best as a Warriors game, but FEW was actually in development before that.
- Their starting point was to give themselves the directive "make a game that will be enjoyable to the established Fire Emblem fanbase."
- They drew core concepts from Fire Emblem that have never really existed in Warriors games, such as character classes, a focus on strategic elements, and the weapon triangle.
- The game is fully voiced and the amount of text currently in the game is pretty enormous. Character, plot, and world-building work is being overseen by IS.
- You're basically going to be seeing characters from Awakening, Fates, and Shadow Dragon. (Note: they mention Shadow Dragon specifically here, rather than using this title interchangeably with FE1/Dragon of Darkness + Blade of Light, so this might be lowkey implying at least one SD exclusive character on the roster? Could mean nothing.) This isn't the sort of game where you're going to see a gathering of main characters from the series as a whole.
- This is because wielding a sword is practically a requirement to be a Fire Emblem lord.
- There's an element of switching between characters in the game, so they've tried to make the entire roster engaging and fun, with lots of variety.
- The base game's roster is huge, bigger than any other Warriors collab excluding sequels and/or DLC.
- Archers and mages are definitely represented on the roster.
- They can't talk much about the setting or the framing device for the story just yet, but they tease that a major element is an artifact with invocation powers called the "Burning Shield" that breaks the boundaries of space and time. (Not 100% sure this is accurate, wording here is a bit confusing.)
- A lot of elements drawn from the FE games will be present, IE: an archer doing bonus damage to a pegasus knight.
- Units like Cavaliers will 100% be fighting on horseback. They're trying to preserve the appeal of high-mobility units in the original games.
- "Bond Conversations" are present and evoke a Support system. Bonds will range from the silly to the serious. There is a lot of text in this system already.
- There's no romance or marriage in FEW. Bonds will focus on deep friendships, instead.

You know, producers, there are non-lord characters in the other games as well.

No axes confirmed yet…

! Celica is found, her possession is freed via Falchion (+ more lore for the world, appreciated, but how did get away from Marth's hand…?), 3
! It's kinda weird. Even in the original game, their Falchion was created from Naga's fang, but it is it's own sword? Just two Falchions, apparently. I suppose you'll call it early installment weirdness.
-
Huh. This game just got tough. It threw an enemy at me that totally outclassed all my characters (the one with the leather shield) and forced me to use some actual strategy to defeat him.
I…like that.
-
My prediction of the FEW roster (assuming 20 characters) :
- SD : Marth, Abel/Cain, Caeda, Tiki, Minerva, Camus
- AWK : Chrom, Lucina, Robin (M), Tharja, Cordelia, Gaius
- Fates : Corrin (F), Azura, Camilla, Takumi, Ryoma, Xander, Kagero, Effie
I tried to pick popular characters with a variety of fightstyle (and fanservice potential ).
But if it were up to me, I would love to see less predictable characters like Flavia or Panne.
-
All that info about Warriors makes me cringe. What I was worried about happening was confirmed: pretty much only characters from the 3DS games. Their reasoning for it is a little dumb too; having too many sword users sure didn't bother them in Smash Bros. Why can't you just find different movesets? And of course, they have original characters who look out of place…and use swords.
But hey, at least Echoes is great so I'm happy. Dull map design aside, I like how it can be tough at times while being fair (Mila's gear is a blessing). Most importantly, villains that feel like actual human beings. Take notes, Fates.
Is Shadow Dragon really popular in Japan or something? Because worldwide it almost killed the series, but IS still seems to have a hard-on for all the non-characters of the game.
I hated Shadow Dragon, but it actually sold well and got good reviews. If anything, it's the Tellius duology (my favorites personally) that would've killed the franchise, especially Radiant Dawn. The series was at a low point then hence why it was safer to develop a remake of the first game instead of making a new one from scratch
-

Well, except the Duma Faithful.
-
@S.C.:
Well, except the Duma Faithful.
Heck, at least they're motivated by something. Jedah genuinely belives he's doing good by shaping the world into what Duma considers utopic.
Garon, Hans and Iago seemingly only lived for no other reason than making poor widdle Corrin sad.
-
Half of Celica's dialogue: "I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!" I hate this game's story so much lol.
But the somewhat dry gameplay has been fun for me throughout. Duma Temple is intense fighting so many battles without knowing when you can save. I've been fighting super safe because of it. 2 80% chances to kill and the enemy has a 3% to crit and kill me? Nah, I'm backing everyone into a little corner and waiting for next turn.
-
This final battle sucks.
! At first I thought it was like Conquest, where I would like/not like at the same time, but after sweating it out forever, I realize it's not a very well-designed map, because it takes the biggest problems from Echoes:
a) swamp terrain
b) cantor spam
c) interlocking ranges (just use Invoke!)
! You HAVE to kill the gold knight/dread fighters/bow knights at the beginning, otherwise you're in for misery. Jedah and Duma spawn Mogalls, which aren't super tough, but they are pretty durable. Sonya's dead sister (:O) summons…..other w-witches....
! The most annoying thing is Jedah himself, 3 range in the middle of the map. His Death spell hurts, but he himself cannot be hurt. I had no idea how to even injure him; the Falchion gets nullified is well. You have to hit him five times, and on the five, your guy will cause damage. How asinine is that? Nothing in the text gives that kind of prompt, why can't you just neutralize him with Celica and be done with him? Everyone has to climb over each other to get through the swamp tiles, and Duma's map attack made me feel like I was wasting EVERY damn turn to heal somone up.
! Plus, the Falchion does dick to Duma, so I really hope you can slaughter him once Jedah is killed. Or maybe his HP is too high?
! It's all very tedious and unintitative. In other news, guess what came in the mail?
So hyped. Up to chapter 5, I think? My Ike's not getting strength haha.
-
-
Well, the first battle with Berkut was quite the difficulty spike. So, so, so many mounted enemies (what the hell do you mean there were only three, Alm?!) one Ridersbane, only one dedicated healer. Things got very tense and hairy at the end, where I had to essentially protect the guys on their last legs with a human wall that was half-beaten itself and pray that none of the foes got a crit. I will say though, despite the fact that he's been a pretty bad unit so far, Python came through with some very clutch crits in the eleventh hour.
Then shortly afterward I recruited Luthier and immediately lost him thanks to being ambushed and doubled by a Paladin (I didn't even know that you could get ambushed on the world map!). Thankfully he had spawned on some forest tiles so I kept turnwheeling/reseting until he finally dodged both attacks. I was basically the "but the odds were in your favor!" Awkward Zombie comic.
-
So hyped. Up to chapter 5, I think? My Ike's not getting strength haha.
Whatever level ups he gets before he promotes is irrelevant.
-
I'm pretty sure it's statistically impossible for Ike to turn out in any way other than unstoppable murder machine.
-
So . . . . . has anyone ever summoned a 5-star character . . . . after having already spent the feathers on turning said character into a 5-star? It's enough to make you punch the wall.
-
That sort of stuff makes me wish there were a faster way of getting feathers than waiting an entire week for arena stuff to happen. Heck, let people buy them, if I were to spend a couple of bucks on the game I'd rather do it to make characters I like strong as opposed to probably getting more dupes on a summon roll.
-
I went cold in the game, not even collecting the feathers. I got decision fatigue about what to do with the full barracs. And couldn't get the woodcuter guy to be useful and missed on those 5 orbs.

Here is the official site for FE Musou:https://www.gamecity.ne.jp/fe/

! It's all very tedious and unintitative.! I just finished it too. Fortify helps a lot with the earth spell damage. Not sure if you trained up Tatiana or not. She's the physically most frail healer in the game but fortify works wonders. I had to look up how to kill Jedah as well, that wall of his is ridiculous. But I just broke through with all my dread fighters. I wonder if his wall had a limit in the first match…it would have been nice to take the dracoshield. Although I don't remember how much damage I could have done.
! I used Tobin to get rid of the Medusa arcanist and then Duma killed Tobin with a 48% hit. I was in range of Duma for at least 3 turns trying to bait him away from Medusa man, but he waits until someone killable is in range to finally move. What a dick. I used the turnwheel 5 times and he died each time. Oh well, RIP Tobin, you're slow and frail anyways.
! Then I tackled the post game dungeon and made it to the end...I got too cocky and went in to the final boss. And I made a mistake by getting into his range around turn 15. And then slowly died by Turn 25 or so. Meanwhile, reinforcements kept spawning 25 turns in.....so I don't know if it's infinite or not. Because if so, I don't want to deal with the grinding necessary to fight the boss (who ignores defense and halves your damage) while fighting off high level reinforcements who all have enough health to survive most critical hits. I probably won't play it again any time soon. -
Beat Fire Emblem 3 book 1, the amount of units that you recruit only to bench immediately in the next chapter is ridiculous in that game(never would thought seeing a game beating fire emblem 6 in this regard lol).
Caeda is ridiculous amazing in that game, like holy shit she is the best Pegasus unit I ever used, which says a lot considering her game doesn't have rescue, skills or pair up.
Shadow dragon next, let's see if that game gives any characterization to the characters that don't appear in the story. -
Up to chapter 11 (the port town) in PoR. REALLY enjoying this game so far; I think Hard is a decent enough challenge and the story bits to the base conversations have me smiling a ton. There's so many cool characters I WANT to use, but sadly I don't think I have the BEXP to spare.
Mia, Marcia, Boyd, Oscar, Soren, Ilyana, and Rhys have solidified themselves on the team, and because I like Mist I raised her with most of my BEXP too. Unsure on the laguz units (even though Lethe is a fav of mine), and an extra slot? I suppose I'll give Kieran a whirl and see what happens.
And yes, I pretty much played chapter 10 the wrong way.
Fortify helps a lot with the earth spell damage. Not sure if you trained up Tatiana or not.
I think I'm gonna sub Clair for her, because she is borderline useless. I got very far on today's try:
! Both witches were dead, I was staying out of Medusa range, Dread Fighters were taking Dumas attention (one critted him!!!!1), and the strategy of flat-out ignoring Jedah seems like the best course of action.
! Then the AI decided to play bullshit, and suddenly, Duma decided Celica was a nice snack. And even if it wasn't her, I only have ONE turnwheel left, it's maddening. -

if you aren't using Gamble on every single attack with Kieran, you aren't using him right
Mist and Rolf can turn out really well, but they both start out pretty rough. Worth the investment, though!
-
Mist turns into a healbot on a horse so she's a much better long-term investment than Rhys.
-
Hmm, thanks for the input guys.
I also have to be careful with which supports I activate at the base. So far I've got Ike-Oscar C, Ike-Soren C.
