Wait… most reliable source of news? Do you mean that in the sense of individual people submitting personal stories/observations to (foreign) news sites via Whatsapp messages?
I've tried using the app before, because not only is it somehow the main method of communication now in Latin America as far as I can tell, but also European friends have asked if I had it in the past. And while it seemed okay, it was just another messenger program as far as I could tell, with no real unique features that I didn't already have on Google Hangouts or Skype. Also at least at the time it was $1 per year on Android, so just on principle I was not willing to give anyone any money for what I already have for free.
I guess what I'm wondering is, am I missing something? Is there some super cool feature no other program has? Is it just a freak cultural thing that it got so popular in certain parts of the world?
