That's why completed objectives could reasonably be shown. Also you can mark the map in at least some capacity, so that can be used strategically as well.

Did anyone see a limit to the pin numbers?
-
Zelda has never marked Heart Piece locations on the map that I know of. The bugs were marked, but that's different. Those are story event segments that lock you into an area until you find them all, so it's whatever if the map shows you the general location of them (and it only shows them when you're physically on the right map segment I believe).
I believe KaizokuJinbei meant the golden bugs for that insect lady.
-
Oh, those. Are those actually marked on the map before you find them? If so it must be subtle and still probably only when you're in the actual area. Because when I replayed TPHD I definitely recall still having trouble finding a few.
-
I was referring to it marking the map after finding bugs/heart pieces.
-
Oh, okay. Yeah that makes more sense now.

Apparently a lot of the characters you see in the BotW trailer from the presentation are companion characters.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! Zelda is the princess of the destroyed Hyrule kingdom. She goes to investigate ancient ruins scattered around the world. Famitsu says she’s a wise and curious girl, but also has a deep complexity.
In one image, Zelda is shown raising her right hand to shoot light at a Guardian. This time, Zelda wears clothing that may let her take the most active role she’s had in the series so far.
! Mifa is a Zora girl who lives in Hyrule. She has a special power that no other Zoras have, but perhaps due to that she’s somewhat introverted and doesn’t talk much. Famitsu wonders how she will use the spear she’s wielding.
! Darkel (or literally Darukeru) is a Goron warrior who lives in the mountains of Hyrule. He’s normally calm, but when entering battles, he changes into a very brave warrior that screams loudly while sweeping away enemies.
! Finally, Reebal is a member of the bird-like Rito tribe which lives in the skies of Hyrule. He is spotted wearing the same blue scarf as Darkel and Mifa, and each of them also wield different weapons.
!

! I'm really digging the character designs -
All this info is getting to that point of "STOP TELLING ME THINGS NINTENDO" for me… I think it's time to not look at anything about this game for a month.
-
I spoilered your comment, Jinbo. That's a lot more character designs and name drops than I really wanted to see. I think now's a point when we should start being prudent about spoilers, since the big info's starting to drop.

Ah understood my apologies

A Zelda RPG would be cool. Can you imagine how awesome would be playing with a Goron and a Zora Party Member?
Hey Square! Wanna make the next Super Mario RPG?!

That sounds an awful lot like Paper Mario. Maybe we could get Intelligent Systems t-Oh, wait.

The ironic thing is that Link cameos in Super Mario RPG (along with Samus)

Heck, make a Metroid RPG while at it.
Chase that Mass Effect money.

I want a metroid game made by GoodFeel
give it an artstyle like
a stopmotion film made with plastic/metal figures
give samus visible points of articulation and shit -
Fucking Famiitsu pages being shoved suddenly in my face in the middle of an analysis video about the super bowl ad, and immediately reading names easily in Japanese. FUCK YOU, keep that shit tight, damn it. I'm lucky the blurbs were too small.
Here I was being ready to just watch any ads or analysis of said ad when they up and do that shit to me. Never mind the title of a certain someone's video I'm subscribed to. Agh, I want to stay excited for this game, damn it! I mean I already suspected what was spoilered, but fuck.
-
There's a gamexplain video that I'm not watching, as of now, please, spoiler tag everything.

Well I looked at a summary of some of the new news, and some of it is good but I'm mostly disappointed. These are minor spoilers but I'll still tag it:
! There are actual dungeons, in addition to all the shrines. That's a big plus for me. But unfortunately they barely seem to actually be dungeons. They are still smaller than classic Zelda dungeons, don't contain dungeon items (ouch), don't contain a compass, don't contain chests that make the chest-opening sound, and are totally optional / can be done in any order.
! I have to say I'm pretty skeptical about the gameplay still. I don't want to have this huge world immediately 100% explorable without finding new items. I also don't want every weapon in the game to break after a few hits. Those two things would really, really kill the experience for me. -

They mention that the dungeons are constantly moving (probably the moving monsters that we see every now and then), so the path to get to them might also involve dungeon-like puzzle gameplay like in Skyward Sword.
! Also, they explain the compass is redundant, as they're trying to make the boss rooms look obvious and organic, but you need to mess with the dungeon's mechanics in order to reach it.
! Shrines give new items, and it's possible they might help in exploring. -
Just began playing Xenoblade Chronicles X again, and now what I'm afraid of is that Zelda's open world might not compare at all in terms of both scale and actual content. Big, open world is nice, but I hope there's more roaming around than just the occasional baddies sitting around a fire.

-
I'm surprised by this, but also don't really mind, we have no idea how long the base game is, so until that is confirmed then I won't jump to conclusions about this dlc.

I mind, because it's proof they're releasing an unfinished game even after all the delays. The entire DLC Pack 1 is stuff that should already be in the base game. Hard mode is DLC? An enhanced map is DLC? Give me a fucking break. And a Cave of Trials has been a fairly standard feature since like, Wind Waker. Now the second DLC pack could potentially be cool new content, but my gut tells me it's all stuff that was meant to be in the game but got scrapped due to time constraints.
-
Or playable Zelda. Its too soon to judge either way.
-
That would be so cool if they gave us a side-story where you play as Zelda. Too cool. But yeah I'm reserving judgement on the second DLC pack but the first one is bullshit and should be free.
-
I am surprised a mainstream Zelda title would have this (giving me Destiny or something vibes). Probably won't even think about this until I'm "done" with the main game.
-
The first one is practically just a patch
-
I don't know if I'm setting myself for dissapointment, but I'd buy the 1st one if it added bosses not in the game already
-
First pack is meh. Probably wont be paying much extra for those things as should be a patch.
2nd pack is yup. Cool. DLC for Zelda is fine by me. Everyone else in the world is doing DLC so as long as it's decent I can't complain. Tho for £17.99 I'm expecting at least 20+ hours worth.
Either way I'll not look at picking up until nearer the time. Buying DLC in December when Mario, Xenoblade and Fire Emblem should all be hitting isn't a priority
-
Real quick, to anyone who managed to get a Breath of the Wild Master Edition preorder on Amazon, check your email and your order page on Amazon. Mass cancellations have happened.
At moment they seem to have stopped. Logically, what probably happened is they got their actual shipment in, noticed it's smaller than they allowed preorders for and cancelled a bunch as a result. If that's the case, no more cancellations should happen hopefully but… well, we weren't expecting ANY cancellations so anything can happen now.
-
I'm very tempted to buy this game on launch (for Wii U obvs), but I know I probably should wait…
-
I got it for launch day, and had to get a new TV because my parents have the living room's taken over badly

I](http://www.youdubber.com/index.php?video=RtNvDfjEbQw&video_start=0&audio=XeNKhm09Q88&audio_start=0) will now go to my GameStop at midnight on Friday to pick up Link's Pro Skater and play it four four hours before falling asleep in my armchair and then wake up for seven hours of work.
-
I ordered the japanese collectors edition. I hope it is true that the language setting of the game is depending on the language setting of the switch console, at least in regards to the text.
-
Minor game mechanic/enviroment spoiler:
! Spooky
EDIT: Game leaks are starting to pop up, including at least one story cutscene. I'm a spoiler hound so I'm eager, but anyone who wants to stay unspoiled should be careful.

That's not epic battle music. It's barely-passing-as-background music. I'm STILL wondering if the game actually fucking HAS music and it releases in 5 days.

I've seen a (now deleted) youtube preview showing music playing in a town/village.
-
That makes sense. But I mostly meant in the mind-blowingly sprawling overworld that I'm presumably going to spend enormous amounts of time exploring. If I have to do that to no soundtrack I might just slit my wrists.
-
I like itThe composer of the game is Manaka Kataoka, and she's had work on Animal Crossing and Zelda before this. You can definitely hear touches of the former in the battle theme.
-
That sounds not so much like a battle song, but a song that plays when you're filing your taxes and you can't find one of the forms.
-

Why the strike on "I like it". It sounds nice. It might not be great, but I give it credit for being better than most 'generic enemy battle' themes in the Zelda series (I say this having listened to nearly every Zelda soundtrack in recent time, outside of BoW of course).
-
You normally don't need an elaborate song for every little enemy you encounter. Especially because every single other Zelda game has good music playing already in whatever area you're in. Whereas you'll find excellent tracks for scripted encounters or anything resembling a boss.
-

I read this in Beruka's voice, well done.
Why the strike on "I like it".
Well I didn't want to sound like I was disagreeing for the sake of it. ^^;
-
Being afraid of disagreeing? It's just as bad to agree with everything face value.
What matters ultimately is that you are giving thought to what you talk about, whether you agree or disagree. In this matter in particular it's just subjective taste too, in which case you really should be fine expressing like or dislike and no one can really go "no, you're wrong, you DON'T like it"
We can still silently judge your taste though :ninja:
@hoseminuba: I honestly don't remember much of battle music in Zelda aside from stuff like Wind Waker. Which is probably my gold standard for combat music. Nevertheless, this song sticks out to me as very… not the mood I imagine in a fight? It sounds frantic to me, not really intense or dangerous.
-
I can't think of a Epic Zelda Battle against a regular enemy.
-
My problem with that song is that for over half of the loop (which seems about a minute long?), it's just background tinkering noise that make it seem like whatever's going on isn't important, much less that I'm in combat. Even the very, VERY basic battle theme in Ocarina of Time instantly conveys a sense of tension and danger.
