I got lucky and got Urouge as my starting Rare Recruit before the Sugo event ended. Are striker teams viable late-game? Right now I only have Shura, Nami, Gin, Alvida and Ex-BW Crocodile.
strikers are pretty good both with and without legends
they have
2 2.5 captains (kid and vergo)
1 legend entirely centered around them and also pretty easy to use (bartolomeo)
they have one of the best raid characters in aokiji (1.75 boost + 2 turns orb lock and really good stats) which also makes a decent captain if you need less power and more hps
they have access to some pretty good beatsticks,including legends like whitebeard and its 30% hp cut
they also have a variety of good subs like
damage reducers (alvida,both fortnight and colosseum version,smoker if you need something less powerful but that stays for longer)
heavy poison (impact crocodile)
orb manipulation (kumadori,carue, colosseum killer)
orb boosters (fortnight kaku,squard,colosseum smoker,don chinjao)
fixed damage dealers (raid enel,squard)
delayers (leo,diamante)
healers (mansherry)
and probably something i don't remember right now..only thing they kind of lack is decent HP cutters (the ones that do % based damage, like "cut 30% of the hps of your opponent")
that being said,in late game pretty much every class it's "viable"..some are more OP than others,some are more reliant on RR pulls than others, but all in all one of the strong points of this game it's that
a) every class is competitive
b) most of the characters are useful,one way or the other
c) it's a game where you will not survive with only one team, so you are forced to strategize and make evrytime new teams to better deal with what the fortnight/story chapter/ raid/colosseum stage is gonna throw at you….probably some of the most OP team can clear almost anything..but they usually need multiple legends and RR characters.
