The readings vice-captain what-his-face picked might be the son of Ichigo being born and he will turn become the next Bach.
Bleach Discussion █: Soul Society, but not!

I just thought of something does time flow at the same time in the real world as in SS. If so. WHY? How could two times flow at the same time and one have such a drastic difference in time periods.
-
UNEARNED.
Thats the number 1 word that comes to mind this chapter. This is what I mean with absent storytelling; theres been zero groundwork laid for a big sappy "Rukia is Captain now!" epilogue moment. To recap, Rukias accomplishments this arcs were:
- Unceremoneously beaten down during invasion #1
- Did super-special training because of how special a snowflake she is you guys. We don't actually see said training, but we do get to see her ass, and have it called "peaches"
- Had awful, awful fight with Assnuts, fared really badly, had to get bailed out by Niisama who deigned letting her win with an exceptionally dull, anticlimactic bankai reveal (pretty cosplay dress tho!!!!!)
- Ran around Royal Realm for a bit.
Kubo, with nothing more than that^, you don't get to make Rukias promotion a sudden goddamn emotional focal point! It'd be like if Usopp fell out of the manga, reappeared in the epilogue as a brave warrior hundreds of chapters later, and we were supposed to care.
And the worst thing is that the exact thing happened in the Arrancar arc! Rukia sits the entire thing out after scraping to a tie with Aaroniero, barely talks to Ichigo ever since the Hueco Mondo expedition starts, and then literally YEARS later suddenly heres an emotional goodbye to Ichigo as the finale! "Rukia? Oh right, Rukia! I don't assume you'll ever bother using a gigai to visit me, so farewell I guess!"
Its like Kubo remembers that Rukia and her relation to Ichigo was one of the foundational elements of the series, and so wheels it out for dramatic punctuation…despite 450 chapters of near constant neglect. Its like the ending to how I met your Mother; it might've worked in relation to the series beginning, but it sure as hell doesn't now.
-
The readings vice-captain what-his-face picked might be the son of Ichigo being born and he will turn become the next Bach.
So basically Kyo Ren: Bleach Edition?
-
So, no chapter showing the immediate fallout of Yhwach's attack and wrapping up unresolved plot points from this arc. Yep, very Kubo.
-
Also with all these undeserving captains who is in squad zero now?
-
Also, I'm really glad Yachiru and Kenpachis relationship was finally elaborated on, particularly how she can have a shikai despite appearantly being his sword spirit, and the added emotional weight to the loss of his closest companion, and the attempt to unify the diametrically opposed explanations we got for Kenpachis relation to his sword, and the clarification of how his releases actually goddamn works and why he got Bankai at that time in that particular extremely convenient way!!
THAT SURE WAS SOME GOOD STUFF
-
Poor Renji, passed up by background characters with nameless swords and before that he was passed up by the only jobber with an arguably worse record than him: Shinji. But at least Shinji had the whole Vizard leader and broken power going for him. wtf did Iba and Isane do to earn their promotions besides have their captains die and Kubo being lazy?
-
I like how the uniform reaction to Shunsui at Ukitakes soul-grave isn't "wow, how emotional!", but "wait, he died?!"
Bleach in a nutshell
-
Actually my reaction to Shunsui at the grave was "wow, Kubo can do backgrounds?!" I honestly was too distracted by actual backgrounds to notice that it wasn't just some little outdoor shrine thing but actually a grave until the backgrounds disappeared again and the grave was explicitly given attention. Then it was like "wait, after all this time being sick but never having any real tension around it because he was supposed super ancient and strong, he just died?"
-
Next chapter better be long and do stuff like
- flashback of events when Yhwach died
- covered more of what happen to the gang
- wrapping up at least a few more bits of missed stuff
-
I just thought of something does time flow at the same time in the real world as in SS
It's the afterlife, there really shouldn't be a concept of time to start with (why would there be, it's a human thing). But this is Bleach, where when you die in the real world you're sent to a crappy place like the Rukon District for post life suffering!
*and people on other forums thinking/hoping the announcement is a sequel or prequel or w/e series … just think for a moment, why would they cancel this Bleach series only to let him come back .. WITH ANOTHER BLEACH SERIES!?!?!?!?! "Hey your series is really stinking it up, we're going to need you to wrap it up within the month becauuuuuse we want you to make a new series, just like this one! .. you know, the one that's stinking it up and you need to end it (like seriously, 4 chapters .. max then you're done), it's got to be just like that one!

http://theappliedlogic.blogspot.com/2016/08/bleach-analysis-reviewing-penultimate.html
why did Kubo change Isane's hair ;_;
Yeah I'm upset about that too. I loved Isane's old hair.
Also this has to be the most dialogue and background seen in a bleach chapter in ages. -
Wasn't it explained Ukitake was kept alive by the Arm of the Soul King and even shown he died after that thing left his body? Even if not, at least I was under the impression they somehow made it clear he died after that, or am I wrong?
-
…for all of those you really did not need to pay attention and most of them happened really recently on top, but ok:
- Yachiru enabled Kenpachi's bankai and seemingly was his sword spirit or something
- Nemu died but was artificial anyway, so he obviously made a new one
- Both didn't do shit, but their captains died and they were vice captains, so...
- Komamura turned into a dog and/or died
Oh yeah, that stuff sounds familiar. As to the vice captains, there's no reason why other guys couldn't have switched divisions and took over. Ikkaku, Renji, Hisagi might be better options, maybe.
Dunno why I'm putting any thought into this actually…
-
I actually had to google who Isane was cause I was like "Who the fuck is that random chick in the captain coat?".
-
What happened to the God like thing that was being protected by Squad Zero? That thing died/cut in half and doing that supposedly would have destroyed everything but somehow we are all fine now!!
-
Hanataro arguably has more going for him being promoted to captain than Isane. He actually did things and had a modicum of story focus beyond just sitting in the background (albeit way back in SS) and we know his sword's name. That's actually kind of sad considering he was more or less a gag character yet we know more about him than someone we're supposed to be surprised/excited is captain now?

Chapter Name: A Perfect End.
perfect
My sides. I'm gonna do a quick review of this on Applied Logic to signify the occasion!
Heh, yeah that bit had me in stitches from the start, too. Every bit of the opening text here seems absurdly and unduly pretentious.
-

Actually, he was pointedly still alive while barfing up he hand and supporting the Soul King.
http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/617/10I guess we can infer that he died when Bach absorbed the hand, but this was never really made clear. And thats the big thing: at the time, there was no actual reaction to Ukitakes apparent death by the characters, certainly not by his best friend Shunsui. Because Bleach operates on Suprise! Twist! Reveal! and nothing more substantial than that.
-
I just love the irony of a series whose quality had long been in question and had to rush job its finale calling its penultimate chapter "The Perfect End"
-
"As eloquent and articulate as always"
"Ahead of his time!"
"He's like a poet!"I can't help but think someone is laughing at the Bleach fandom here. Not sure if MS or Kubo himself.
-
The "special announcement" and 10 year time skip make me scared they're going to pull a Boruto with Bleach.
I'm thinking it's going to announce the return of the anime. That's the only thing that makes sense at this point.
-
I'm wondering…what made ichigo so important to the final fight. It seems Aizen was the key and that any strong fighter could've given the final blow. He was not even in his crazy hollow vaizard form
-
Kubo just can't stop trolling. He actually called the penultimate chapter The Perfect end. Can't wait for the last chapter to be called 2 more years?….jk!
-
I have this gut feeling that the final chapter will be called "The Perfect Beginning" and end with a sequel hook for Bleach 2: The Kuboing.
-
That or "The Perfect End 2"
-
At least Chad's getting exercise fighting ground mooks for ten years. Harribel's chained up somewhere for all this time.

He will come back with seven star-shaped scars in his torso.
-
Kubo being Kubo, what do you expect.
Also, Iba got promoted. Yay…
-

How do you say "Fist of the North Star" in Spanish?

I think it is Puno da Estrella del Norte.

@Oga:
As to the vice captains, there's no reason why other guys couldn't have switched divisions and took over. Ikkaku, Renji, Hisagi might be better options, maybe.
Kubo originally established that divisions specialize in certain tasks, and while he hasn't used that recently (though some of the 0th squad members definitely were consistent with it) or fleshed that out at all for most divisions, he definitely did so for Isane's and Ikkaku's (Kenpachi's) divisions. I cannot really think of any other character but Isane for who it'd make sense to lead a healing-focused division, while Ikkaku switching divisions just for a captain seat would go not really fit his past characterization either.

Fair enough. This whole SK thing is a total mess anyway.

I got scoops on the announcement:
Kubo is taking over as the artist for HxH. Togashi provides basic story outline, kewbs writes it then fully himself.:ninja:

I don't know if this was posted or not but here is a list of every unresolved plot point in the whole series. Next chapter better be great, right guys?
This goes from kind of sad to downright hilarious the further you get. I knew that things like Halibel's survival and Juha Bach being the Soul King's son were plot points that were brought up and never mentioned again, but you have to wonder how Kubo could have forgotten to show off Yoruichi's shikai, especially since she got a fight this arc.
So many of these probably could have been addressed, but instead, we got what felt like 40 or 50 chapters of fights between Soul Reapers who have already gotten a bunch of screentime (Kenpachi, Byakuya, Mayuri, Urahara, etc.) and Bach's elite Quincy, all of whom have almost identical powers of "being completely unkillable".
-
…but you have to wonder how Kubo could have forgotten to show off Yoruichi's shikai, especially since she got a fight this arc.
Because she hasn't even used a sword during the whole series, except for a filler flashback in the anime.
-
Omg we really predicted it. It'll be announcement for Part 2.
-
What would be the point in butchering the ending of the series, leaving countless plot threads unanswered, only to start a part 2 immediately with new kids, bacause of the 10 year time skip?
If kubo is still going to write manga and continue to work with shueisha, then even knowing he cant write for shit anymore, I'd still prefer for him to do a new series rather than bleach.
-
What would be the point in butchering the ending of the series, leaving countless plot threads unanswered, only to start a part 2 immediately with new kids, bacause of the 10 year time skip?
Because Kubo .
-
Because Kubo .
Kubo thinking to himself hmmm… those countless quincies and fan favorites didnt move the needle in terms of popularity in this final arc what should I do...Oh, I know. I will make a time skip and use new kid characters to gain popularity again. And ppl seem to love their part 2s of a series, like dbz and shippuuden. xD
Btw, the way the world of bleach is set up and judging by the countless repeats in every arc kubo has done, I have a hard time imagining what a part 2 of bleach whould even be a bout other than just copying same story beats he already did.
-
What if the manga is going to continue but in another magazine?
-

I believe the term for that is "pulling an Akamatsu"
-
What if the manga is going to continue but in another magazine?
Then it could've been handled loads better. Take Claymore for example. I think it was still mid story or mid arc when it made the monthly swap. I can't imagine we're seeing such a hack job just to make way to a new magazine.
-
Don't bother think about plot holes and things we didn't see Kubo show us, even he did it's useless, we won't get it anyway. Does someone here understand what is Unohana's bankai do? Mind share it to me? Well… guess no one does. XD
-
The only sequel/spin-off I would accept is if it was SoL ghostbusting with Ichigo's sisters and/or children? with Gotei members making cameos. (not that it's really viable)
And I'd be pleased if the anime came back. Stern Ritter voices/music, funny omakes, 3-5 chapters in one episode to speed up pacing, and so on. At least it'd put bells and whistles on the questionable material of this arc.
-
I know I joked about a sequel a post back, but I can't really imagine how that would work. Who would the antagonists be? Hollows aren't threatening anymore, and neither are the Fullbringers. Shinigami are the good guys now. Hell was used in a movie. The Quincey seem to be gone for good (although Yhwach might find a way to come back in the next chapter). How could Kubo find a way to bring another villain group into the setting?
-
How about the descendants of Yhwach's forgotten empire on Earth?
-

Foreigners/outsiders in general. Aliens, secret paranormal-based human government military forces, other "afterlife" areas and their psychopomps or that old obnoxious standby of "alternate timelines/dimensions."
It's a pretty cheap and easy way to drum up more conflict.
-
Foreigners/outsiders in general. Aliens, secret paranormal-based human government military forces,.
I actually read a fanfic that played with this idea, and they had stockpiled special zans of their own to fight…..really well-written from what I recall. Gruesome stuff happens to some Shinigami.
Had Kubo bothered to properly focus that the world was going to fall apart, you could easily set up a plotpoint of several humans becoming spiritually aware and thus, paranoid of the world they don't understand.
