Also, apparently Kukri is not his real name as Kukri is a type of knife used in north Africa. Mian wears a mask because she is shy.
The King of Fighters XIV

Well, Ash and Rock are both nouns, not names, yet Ash Crimson and Rock Howard seem to be doing fine. How do you know he isn't just named after the knife?
Because they both have surnames, also, he works for a secret organization, so maybe it can be his codename ?
-
Beyond hyped for this game.
-
In cause you didn't already saw, this is Antonov, the boss (not final boss) of this King of Fighters.

AtlusUSA and Playstation just released the newest King of Fighters XIV team trailer. Today, it's Team South America's turn to shine, with Nelson, Bandeiras Hattori and Zarina demonstrating their unique fighting styles. While we've seen some of Nelson's and Bandeiras' moves in past trailers, this is the first time seeing Zarina's acrobatic Capoiera-based fighting style in action.
Nelson: I can see Vanessa, but I wanted to see Shen Woo.
Bandeiras: Too much weebs…Also Morrigan.
Zarina: Hey..is KOF Laura and a bit of Momoko. The song is very latin like, but..COCO ? Really ?
-
Katalina, Laura, Zarina… what is this? A new fighting game trope on the making?
-
None of them uses electricity on their fighting moves, so they aren't South Americans.:ninja: Now really, only Zarina is not brazilian.
Next team, Mexico, I want to see Angel and Ramon.
-
I don't think giving Zarina a "flowers floating in the wind" motif and butt punches is the wisest idea…
-

Katalina, Laura, Zarina… what is this? A new fighting game trope on the making?
If the trope is "trying to appeal to the Brazilian market" then yes. Zarina is Colombian, but most people won't know that, especially since both her teammates are Brazilian.
-
So, if Zarina resides in Brazil, and her other teammates are natives, why make her Columbian when they could have just made it Team Brazil? Silly SNK.
-
Team Grapplers -
Angel: I didn't like her new voice actress, her HDSM from KOF 2002 is now a regular special ?..ok..And really ? The boobs part in her last special was unnecessary.
King of Dinosaur: From birds to dinosaurs, I liked that most of his specials kinda break the fourth wall.
Ramon: Is that Zoro's seiyuu ? Well, I am glad that they kept his old move set and the tiger's roars, but his last special is so anti-climatic.
-
Angel's voice is the same as it's been since 2002, actually. I recognize those melodic screechings anywhere
-
Well, her high pitched voice in the KOF 2002 tricked me. Anyway, she responded quite well in a 3D game.
-
AtlusUSA released a new King of Fighters XIV trailer revealing the "Nightmare Geese" DLC costume. Nightmare Geese has appeared as a selectable character in previous KOF installments, where Geese is considered to be canonically dead. However, in KOF XIV Nightmare Geese is simply a DLC skin for Geese Howard.
I am somewhat glad that they stayed with the DLC skins idea.
-
Together with the movelist, SNK released another trailer, this time for the South Town team.
Billy: Same old, but I still like his old HSDM "Liar Elemental" more.
Hein: Is always nice to see new characters, even if it is a butler who likes to JoJo pose and control some weird red slime and "gravity".
Geese: Nice to see you, grandpa, keep countering those kids to oblivion, but..no Deadly Rave ?
-
In case anyone is interested, www.twitch.com/atlususa is streaming at EVO with the 48 character build. So far, people seem to be putting King and Hein on teams together for the most part. Thank god Sylvie isn't being used as much. (I will openly state my sheer abhorring of that abomination quite oftenly…)And don't forget.. Geese doesn't have his Rashoumon either. But he's still pretty scary.
-

Embrace chaos ^_^ -

Poor Ryo :v Talking about him, I bet we will have a Mr. Karate DLC skin in the future.
I Agree, you should embrace the chaos, everyone should.
-
Hein is where King would have been if King had stuck with Howard canonically. S'all good. He's so upper crust, I love his speech mannerisms. And no. Fuck Sylvie. I'd rather have Momoko back.
-
With Sylvie, her design is awful, but she's evil and crazy, so I can at least tolerate her, unlike say, Tekken's Lucky Chloe, who is done so unironically.
-
Antonov's reveal:
Story Mode trailer: Hog -
Antonov: Is that it ? Pretty bland IMO, but I did enjoyed his music.. Very ANTONOV.
Story mode: Meh, not much was shown, the few things we know so far was that Kyo's father warned him about this threat and that it gathered souls from other dimensions.
Anyway, IDK if I am hoping too much for a good story, but I just want explanations to Vice and Mature being present or why Angel is back, who is Kukri and even, why did Tizoc changed his name and motif ?
-
No way am I missing out on this one. I've never owned a KOF game but always had every other fighting game (am I the only one who's played Virtua Fighter, I hope not), but I did play '98 and XIII at a friend's house (and Capcom vs. SNK 2), so I'm not going in completely blind. I just feel dumb for not getting into this series earlier.

This post is deleted!

While I may not have posted in this thread often, I have been keeping tabs on how this game is turning out and I'm really loving what I'm seeing so far! Honestly, I'm looking forward to this game way more than I was to SFV due to it's content alone. Now I'll just have to pray for the netcode to be good.
-
I'm playing the demo right now and I'ma be honest, this feels so much better than Street Fighter in terms of speed, control, and combo stringing. Shun'ei and Dino are definitely on my team along with King (or Ramon).
I hope I'm not the only one in love with the Mexico Stage.

Team China's trailer:

@S.C.:
Team China's trailer:
DORARARARARARA!!
-
Shun'ei: He seems easy to make combos (and since this is the characters that was made to appeal to younger players, I think this was intentional), about the JJBA-esque special, why not ? Everyone likes references nowadays.
TFR: I liked how they transfered his sprite moves to a 3D game, besides that, same old same old, I liked his last special.
Meitenkun: ….He reminds me of Bao...In this is not a good thing.
@The:
I hope I'm not the only one in love with the Mexico Stage.
They made a huge improvement in the stages, so its not your fault.
Next team: Psycho Soldiers (hyped to see Kensou)
-
Meitenkun's style kind of reminds me of Drunken Fist-style Kung Fu, but him being a sleepyhead instead of a drunk.
-
-
Psycho Soldiers Team's trailer:
-
Athena: Hooray for our anime/pop idol/bound by eternal youth Athena, I still miss the "changing outfit during her combos" gimmick, but I guess it would take a lot of work to accomplish that.
Chin: They did a great job translating his fighting moves to a 3D game, I also liked that they kept his "power up by drinking" gimmick.
Kensou: Liked this new outfit, it feels like a contemporary version of his KOF 2002 era, about his fighting moves, they look great and fluid, but no rice bun ?
About the music theme: Sounds very pop-ish, maybe it is a remix of the original Psycho Soldiers theme.
-
This has always been my favorite team because of Athena. I know there's nothing special about her to be sure, but I just always liked her.
So saying I'm pretty bad at fighting games in general, this being no exception :p -
Welcome to this thread, so, what did you liked so far in this game, besides Athena ? And how about Athena in this game ? did you liked ?
-
I can't speak for this particular game, unfortunately :( I mean, aside from watching videos. I misread the thread title and thought it was for all the King of Fighter games, which I haven't played for the past few iterations.
I like fighting games but am exceptionally bad at them >.>
This one does look nice though. 3-D models while still having 2-D playfield. Still have a bunch of "out there" fighters. Interesting special attacks too which are cool. -
Ikari Warriors Team's trailer:
Thankfully, Ralf and Clark don't look as steroid bloated as they did in XII.
-
Ralf: Ah, his normal body structure is a sight for sore eyes, but I can't feel his explosive attitude.
Leona: Looks like Leona can now control her Orochi powers. Nice, maybe I can see more Leona and less of Heidern on her kit, maybe a mix of them.
Clark: The same as Ralf, I did liked his last special. The stage is awesome and so does the music theme.
-
Leona is all mine.
-
@The:
Leona is all mine.
Be carefull, her orochi blood is dangerous.
Anway, I wanted to see the women fighter team next, but I guess the next one will be the K´team.
-
Other World Team's trailer:
-
Nakoruru: Mamahaha looks great, overall, she is pretty offensive and fluid in this game, where is her healing ability ?
MuiMui: Mui Mui's designer is the same designer who worked on Karin in SFV. Besides that, DBZ-esque moves and a awesome variation of shoryuken, but her voice..Oh my..
Love: She is a pirate..but the only thing I can see is a sword made of light..oh well, she looks fun to play, pretty easy to make combos.Stage: Really liked, I kinda want to see some background cameos.
Song:Really liked, catchy -
I will read them, eventually.
Today, SNK released the official storylines for all 16 teams in The King of Fighters XIV. You can check them out over at SNK's official website for the game.
The next team to get a trailer is K´ and the last one is going to be the Women Fighters.
-
K' Team Trailer:
And Women Fighters Team Trailer:
-
Alice: You're mine!
Me: I guess I am…
-
K':Time to go out of control, nice… Also, the animation when he removes his shades was great.
Kula: Her cuteness is getting boring, but yea, still a fast character.
Maxima: Hey is Max Steel...Overall, not bad.Music: I approve.
Stage: A bit empty.King: Very agile and fun to play as, I guess they removed the shoto characteristics of her gameplay.
Mai: Nice, but the pose she did in the last special.....Made me uncomfortable for some reason.
Alice: Is it just me or does she looks a bit lost, throwing punches and kicks without charm or reason... Don't get me wrong, I liked her, but is not a easy thing to get used to.Music: Meh...
Stage: Pretty good, but still, I want some special cameos on the background. -
Alice: Is it just me or does she looks a bit lost, throwing punches and kicks without charm or reason… Don't get me wrong, I liked her, but is not a easy thing to get used to.
The official site lists her fighting style as self-taught.
