I wouldn't have guessed either of them would be Psychic/Steel or Psychic/Ghost respectively
Pokemon Ultra S&M - Let's Minecraft Pikachu and Eevee Quest
-
-
Psychic was unexpected
-
Solgaleo is the most non looking psychic type I've ever witnessed, should have just made it fire like it was suppose to be.
-
I think everyone had Flying type for the Moon Legendary.
Wonder what its ability is.Looks like Solgaleo's ability is something like Clear Body
-
I like it that it isn't Fire. We already had two lion pokémon before (Entei and Pyroar) and both of them are fire types, so…
-
The bottom screen now looks like this:
Wonder if its just one of many functions or the only one
-
Almost half an hour later I still don't get why the Lion isn't fire type.
Anyway, new rotom looks cool, characters designs look pretty cool also.
-
Bottom screen really makes it look like they're scrapping the grid-based navigation system, but…how would that affect the wild encounter RNG? Chance every "step" in any direction?
Black player characters are awesome. Too bad the rest of the customization looks to be gone.
-
I forgot we were gonna get this new information today but I can summarize my reaction in three 'words':
LOUD INCOHERENT SHRIEKING -
Multiple islands confirmed, as everyone was expecting. It's a great natural way to limit movement before you get surf
Maybe we'll get more details in 10 days when CoroCoro leaks
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I think everyone had Flying type for the Moon Legendary.
Wonder what its ability is.Looks like Solgaleo's ability is something like Clear Body
From Serebii.net: "Solgaleo, the Psychic Steel with Full Metal Body ability. With the Full Metal Body Ability, a Pokémon’s stats will not be lowered by the effects of an opponent’s moves or Ability. It has the move Sunsteel Strike. and Lunala, the Psychic/Ghost with the ability Shadow Shield. With the Shadow Shield Ability, a Pokémon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokémon has full HP. It also has& the move Moongeist Beam, "
I wonder if these signature moves are dual type just like Flying Press
-
The QR scanner feature is going to be interesting, guess this means there could be exclusive items from codes too?
-
I forgot how fucking stupid these trailers are. Just drip feeding us information.
-
@CCC:
Black player characters are awesome. Too bad the rest of the customization looks to be gone.
Hmm? We already know clothing customization is in. That only leaves haircuts which could still be in.
-
So can anyone explain why these abilities aren't just Clear Body and Multiscale?
Also… New legendaries are basically Metagross and Hoopa... Why??
Rotomdex is a clever spin on the usual. Wonder if Rotom-Dex will become a new rotom form to use in battle!
I like the prof. i like the rival. I like the female design. I like the mysterious person's design.
Region still looks small... Eh I'll get used to it.
-
It looks rather nice to me. They even managed to add some snow there
-
https://mynintendonews.com/2016/06/02/e3-pokemon-sun-moon-and-pokemon-go-on-nintendo-treehouse-live/
so Zelda won't be the only thing at E3 thankfully
-
Sun lion legendary is weak to Fire
Well okay then.
-
I get a Chrono Cross vibe from the map
-
So a Solar legendary who is weak against Fire attacks and a Psychic/Ghost legendary that represents the dark that is 4x weak against Dark attacks.
Yep makes perfect fucking sense to me, Nintendo and Game Freak.
-
I'm glad the bat thing isn't Dark because people really misunderstand what the Dark typing even means. It's basically the fighting typing, but with dishonerable/tricky moves. Not like, dark energy or whetevs. That's more suited for ghosts and to some extent psychics as far as lore goes(special dark moves are sorta psychic in nature..).
The Rotom Pokedex thing is pretty damned cool though. Pokemon Blaze Black had this one battle with N using a whole team full of them, and I have to say.. that battle sold me on tier designs. So it's neat that one is a companion of some sorts.
-
A Rotom Pokedex? This is the best Pokedex ever!
I wonder if it speaks. -
I hope this QR feature prevents me from transfering 721 Pokemon to S/M to complete the Dex.
PokeBank makes a lot easier but it gets annoying
-
I'm worried that the hint thing would become obnoxious though. So I'm putting my faith in Gamefreak that they don't fudge it up as bad as first party Nintendo. Atleast, give me the option to turn him off, and he doesn't constantly stop the action just to tell me stuff.
-
Do not like Rotom Dex. Not at all.
Also, these are probably the weakest main trainer designs in the franchise's history. They look like random trainers you'd fight rather than the leads.
@The:
So… The general consensus, for today's reveal (in 2 or so hours), seems to be related to a brand new mechanic being implemented into the game: synchronization. It's been seen in the anime just recently (last episode, I believe), and has been hinted at and talked about for quite sometime already; with the weird Greninja being dubbed: Ash-Greninja.
It seems to let the Pokemon and it's master link their minds together, allowing them to feel each others emotions, see each others sights, hear each others sounds etc. etc. It also is, seemingly, connected to Mega Evolution in someway, shape or form. Not sure how they will implement this from a gameplay perspective, but yeah.

People have been speculating that since Ash's greeninja was first shown. But it's just too broad a mechanic to make sense in-game.
It seems most plausible that its just a way to give Ash a mega without giving him a mega… and without having designed them for all three starters of the region.
-
I don't get the rotom thing
and why do we have 3black haired character options but none for red hair, fuck you. -
Those are the defaults and they're trying to represent Hawaii? Maybe they'll let you change them later? They did in XY.
-
Seems with the Dex, and some of the other features, they are going for a Yokai Watch kind of vibe, a Ghost guide to the kid, the kids also have a weird watch and we have a new QR feature that is similar to Yokai Watch.
I maintan that I think the dex Rotom looks cool, and I think them making a dex rotom part of the main game, probably will tie to the synergy evolutions.
We should have more news next week with corocoro

It's sort of both, though, since you have guys like Darkrai that can't be explained otherwise. Even if it didn't start that way, 'evil' and 'darkness' have become part of the character of dark. Plus, the moon has associations with all of those definitions of dark, representing the cover under which crime occurs, or the time when evil itself is awakened, or just actually when things are literally dark. I'd say there's plenty of reasons for Mr. Moon to have been dark type.
I really have no clue what Gamefreak was thinking with psychic/steel, though. I mean some of the sun is metal I guess? But that's way less than the amount of the sun that is fire and hydrogen. It's like seeing the forest for this one penny some guy dropped on the dirt.

Watched a Japanese trailer of Rotom Dex and the Pokedex is shown.
The data says 1 caught and 3 seen and above is 1% completion (I guess).
So doing some math that means there are either 100 or 300 new Pokemon right?Don't remember what the percentage in the Dex indicates in past Gens; caught or seen Mons?

Not sure I know it varies since each Gen had a different amount of Pokemon

I still feel the dark typing is the same as it was intended. It's like, the dark side in between the relationship physics(mental discipline) and fighting(physical discipline) share.
But you are right that anyone could assume based it is based off it's design and nothing more(like the bat could have been a trickster or prankster like Hoopa, idk). I'm just personally glad it isn't the case, because I still feel people assume the dark typing is basicaly harnessing "dark JRPG powers". -

When it comes to Pokemon design though, Dark types that don't fit that "dirty fighting" theme are usually Moon/Night themed (Umbreon, Darkrai), or Misfortune/Destructive Evil themed (Hydreigon, Absol), so I can see why some were expecting Lunaala to be Dark type.
Nice that it's not though. Yveltal is already a flying Dark type Box Legend.

So doing some math that means there are either 100 or 300 new Pokemon right? No, it just means the regional dex will probably have 300. Outside of BW, they've always mixed and matched to fill up the regional.

I'm just personally glad it isn't the case, because I still feel people assume the dark typing is basicaly harnessing "dark JRPG powers".Are you sure that was what the type was originally meant to be? Seeing that it was originally a special type, not a physical one, it doesn't look like they were aiming for "a dishonorable version of fighting type" (or the thief to the paladin).
Anyways, even if it was the original meaning, I am pretty sure it isn't anymore. There is Darkrai, as Wagomu mentioned, who is pretty much the embodiment of darkness. Absol who is "dark" due to its connection with disasters. Or Pangoro, who is the senpai who stands for the weak and fight bullies so decidedly not the dishonorable kind of guy.
All of them, and many more, don't fit that version of "dark type" and draw their connection to dark based on other aspects. Even the original dark ones are like that (Umbreon "darkness" rely pretty much on it being a mysterious figure in the night). So while I think the dark type includes what you said, I think it is broader than that. The way I see it, dark type is meant to be close to the darkness of rpgs and thing. Sometimes it means the character will have powers from darkness, sometimes it means it will be a thief kind of guy who fights dishonorably, or an assassin lurking in the shadows, and sometimes it will just mean it has a "dark personality" being cool/silent/introspective.

Not surprising, Yokai Watch is apparently beating the crap out of it in Japan.
Nowhere else, but…. In Japan. And that's where they care the most.

Pursuit.
Pursuit bait everywhere!

It isn't exclusively based on "dishonorable fighting", even though most of the moves in the set does say that. Those are mostly things that back up the triat of being dishonerable, choatic, agressive, or whatever. And it's also a reverse subset of fighting and psychic, like I've already said. Darkrai is solely based around nightmares, like psychics already are to the manipulation or consumption dreams. Heck its reverse opposite is Cresselia, and it is defined by assuring that people have joyful dreams. Dunno where the "embodiment of darkness" thing comes from though.
But yeah. What I'm saying is "dark" is mostly a trait in the Pokemon world. I think this page defines it alot better
The Dark type is represented from traits that are considered feral and untameable, specifically that born from adverse and intense complex social conditions, to that of traits that evoke a negative leaning nature, from having a nocturnal day cycle, exhibitions of unusually cruel, crafty, and clever intelligence, belligerent aggressiveness, the sentient awareness and choice to harm and/or inflict ill will, and to that of the negative end of nature and reality, such as the shadows, declination, "the survival of the fittest", destruction, comings of darker times, and to the unknown but potentially dangerous aspects of the mysterious and enigmatic. It should be further noted that the type of Dark does not automatically associate with the concept of evil, as both evidence exists of cruelty capable of Pokemon not just of the type (Ekans, Fearow) and that it is the trainer that influences majorly how a Pokemon matures and acts.
http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_type
I know it's a wiki source, and nothing super official. But combined with most of the dark type Pokemon and their moves, it makes more sense to me than a fantasy's definition of dark being an element or magic thing that could be offset by "light"(Which is why I find the idea of a Light typing really dumb).
-
Dark is literally named "Evil" type in japan
i don't see where this misunderstanding is coming from
-
I still remember when we barely had any info other than the trademarks. Look now.
RotomDex, I don't know, but I always dreamed of a pokemon that would interact and speak to you in your language, so this new feature is one of the best IMO.
Solgaleo and Lunala are weak to the elements they were supposed to represent. Tell me I'm not the only one who didn't see that coming. And yet, like everything, it probably will have a good in-game explanation for this.
Full 3D overworld confirmed, a total of 6 islands to explore, a misteryous assistant that looks she's going to be your main rival who has the starter of the type strong against yours, and a lot more of stuff coming our way.
Yup, with still 5 monthas ahead before release this is already looking very promising.
-
Dunno where the "embodiment of darkness" thing comes from though.
Comes from me mistaking it for Giratina :|
But the nightmare thing also works… -
I can see the RotomDex getting annoying super fast. Welp, as long as it doesn't talk to to you every 2 mins it might be fine.
The characters not being chibified anymore is great, I didn't really like them before, but they are looking awesome now.
And the trainers, I like their designs, both male and female. -
As long as the Rotomdex doesn't act like Omachao from Sonic Adventure 2, then I am ok with it
-
Not surprising, Yokai Watch is apparently beating the crap out of it in Japan.
Nowhere else, but…. In Japan. And that's where they care the most.
What's the source on this? Like, it did outsell ORAS last year, but that's hardly an indication of YW being stronger than Pokemon in Japan. I find it hard to believe.
-
I love and region that has a strong, integrated geography so I'm interested in that aspect. As far as character design goes, Professor Kukui looks awesome (dig the name too) but everyone else looks pretty bland.
Any chance, what with islands, the sun and the moon, that we could see some sort of scheme revolving around tides? I certainly wouldn't be surprised if we got another environmental-themed Team.
-
Sun lion legendary is weak to Fire
Well okay then.
Its even weirder than Primal Groudon weak to Ground.
-
Anyone know of the legendaries are actually based off anything? Like myths and whatnot?
-

The anime is regularly beating it in the rankings, the trading cards are selling more, (100 million cards in an 8 month period) and from the same period the most recent Yokai game (it's 2.5… basically Yellow version) sold as well as OR and AS combined, while it's previous split game of 2 sold better. And in the same year, its first game still sold like a million copies. Yokai Watch was the first and fifth best selling 3DS game that year.
Pokemon is holding even with it and still doing well obviously, but considering Yokai Watch is a new franchise up against a 20 year juggernaut, and ir regularly beating it in every single arena, tv, merchandise, and games, it's absolutely killing it.
-

Cyan has talked about the bat.
For the lion, I've seen several people mention the possibility it's based of 'The Lion that Devours the Sun', a symbol of alchemy (also used to explain the Steel typing).
The lion supposedly represents some substance called vitriol that eats away at anything except gold, so it's like some sort of purifier.
I don't really think they're related since once you go past the surface description, it really has nothing to do with sun lions. -

I was getting the impression that Yokai Watch peaked at about a year or so ago from stuff like this:
http://www.gamnesia.com/news/yokai-watchs-popularity-has-dramatically-cooled-down-in-japanWe do get YW games and Pokemon main games coming out this year, so I'm definitely interested to see what results from that. In any case, I think saying "Yokai Watch is killing Pokemon" is a bit of a dramatic way to put it, particularly considering that we're talking about Yokai Watch during years in which there isn't a mainline pokemon game. And, like you say, considering the fact Pokemon is something that's existed for 20 years, not the new generational fad.
