Did Hisoka just break Chrollo right hand?
Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
-
-
I got the feeling Chrollo was confident because the Ryodan might interfere, next chapter Hisoka is gonna counterattack and expect outside interference…
-
Ahhh, now this become a terrorist house.
More boners to Hisoka in next chapter.
-
awesome chapter. i almost got disappointed that it didn't take me alot of time to finish reading it.
-
Did Hisoka just break Chrollo right hand?
I think that he could have had damaged it heavily - I am not sure if Hisoka hit Chrollo in the head and arm or did he landed a hit on arm only.
I was reading this weeks chapter once again and I really love that fight we have now feels quite creepy thanks to those "doll copies" of people in arena along with some people that were controlled by Chrollo to attack Hisoka in previous week chapter. It all builds up quite nicely and it feels like one of them might really die. Hisoka being center of narration also is interesting pov as Chrollo feels even more of a villain thanks to that.
With this weeks chapter I am worried that Hisoka might be on winning side at end of fight but in last moment he could get his Nen ability stolen by Chrollo. With Chrollo being around as strong as Maha Zoldyck with Hisoka winning this fight it would put him in leaque with Silva, Maha etc.
I am at same time happy and bit sad that right now we are getting Chrollo vs Hisoka as I wanted to see long, nasty and amazing fight of Pariston vs Hisoka(yup it was growing in my head for quite some time).. Still what we get will be an amazing thing when animated if it already feels so good in manga format..
-
I would be very happy if the story completely followed Hisoka from now on.
Kurapika and Leorio rule.
-
Kurapika and Leorio rule.
We all love those two, but let's face it :P no one ups the drama like Hisoka
-
Given that it is a deathmatch this is how I see it. The lengthy explanations serve two purposes:
1. Go with Chrollo arrogant personality.
2. To avoid a fight where both parties are cautious of one another. If Hisoka didn't know anything he wouldn't step in as much. By setting the boundaries, they are both agreeing to cut all the crap, and just go to the point where they are both using everything they go to kill one another. There could be more, but I'm happy with that, I get sad with Togashi comments on Jump.

Another depressive comment about what he went through during last almost two years?

Backpain McPoophard strikes again?
-
Completely forgot that Hisoka could use bungee gum with his feet too. Looking forward to the rest of the fight–Chrollo still hasn't revealed if he's used The Sun and The Moon yet. Nor has he taken full advantage of Convert Hands or Black Voice.

You guys are vicious, here they go:
"The joy of being able to sit on the toilet or on a chair. The interesting thing about the body is that it won't poop when you are bed ridden."
"Stuck in bed –> Crawl on all fours --> Find help --> Struggle to get up and go to the hospital"
"The worst part about back pain is that only when it starts to get a little better is that you can go to the hospital."Back to the fight, I wanna see what Chrollo does with a shattered arm, when did he shoot the bungee from his foot?
-
"I'm a pessimist by nature. If Yoshihiro Togashi shows someone with a boner, it is the premonition of a glorious battle.
When I show someone with a boner, it is cut in half."Hideo Yamamoto*

1-He wasn't particularly before that fight. He seems extremely pragmatic.
2- Well, Hisoka wouldn't have much choice if puppets attacked him and he was already worried of the antennas. The crap like you said has always been a part of HxH fights. They don't blab about their abilities and how they work because that is counter productive. If your opponent is in the dark you have more chance of getting him while he's trying to figure out your trick and it increase the odds of surprising him. Even when Leorio punched Gin, Kilua was surprised he would just revealed it like that. The members of the troupes don't even share the details of their abilities with each other.
It could be random exposition but I would be surprised if it was just that.

Hey hey- I didnt meant that with irony..
Btw one of Jump editors was hyping up 2 years ago some absolutely shocking moment incomming - something that could be put as one of 3 most shocking moments in HxH- maybe he already had drafts/content of incomming Hisoka vs Chrollo fight.
Chrollo dying is what I hope for. Then we would have Kurapika being somehow free of a bit of his vendetta thing and it could be repetitive with what we had earlier.
If Hisoka kills Chrollo then we have spiders comming after him and that could make interesting plot in my opinion. Especially if Hisoka tags along with some prince and goes for Dark Continent and Spiders team up with other prince just to be able to go after Hisoka.
Hisoka dying here could end up being a bit boring in long run. He is more entertaining than Chrollo in my opinion.
-
I'm waiting for some really curve ball from Togashi. Something so unexpected and fucked up like both Chrollo and Hisoka dying and some of the princes deciding to use them as zombie-puppets.
-
@Tamiel:

I couldn't find any instance of it after looking. Page 18 was the closest thing I could find, 'cause his feet are pointed towards his Bungee Gum target while activating it, but even still all I'm seeing there is Hisoka and Chrollo's auras and then a Bungee Gum line connecting to Hisoka's arm/hand.
-
Transmuters are almost as straigthforward as enhancers, your aura has the properties of <insert stuff="" here="">, if you want extra power do it like this: <insert conditions="" here="">, you can emanate aura from anywhere of your body, why would there be the need of specifing that he can use it from his feet? Ha could shoot it from his but if he pleased. Didn't he use it to tie a fist from someone to his face?</insert></insert>

Sorry for my response being so simplistic: He could do that, but what I'm saying is where in the chapter did he do that? That's what me and TrueSaviour are wondering.

Here are both moments
http://i996.mangareader.net/hunter-x-hunter/353/hunter-x-hunter-7540015.jpg
And here again
http://i996.mangareader.net/hunter-x-hunter/353/hunter-x-hunter-7540027.jpgIn the first one, a zombie even grasped Hisoka's head. And Hisoka is actually holding the head at the same time.
In the second one, it seems like some nen emanates from the head, maybe it's just blood but it seems more like nen.And even though it's not specific, we can simply assume that Hisoka is super fast –- which he is.

Yeah, I know, I didn't mean to berate or anything. What I was trying to say that both of them agreed to skip the part of discovering their opponents powers because it would delay the match and they want to get it done quick quick. To be honest the "crap" as I called it is one of my favorite aspects of HxH.
Hey hey- I didnt meant that with irony..
Eh, well…when I quoted on my previous post, it was more the reaction to my "his comments make me sad". First answer was is there a hiatus, then your question built up for Rahz's comment: Backpain McPoophard strikes again?. It all played out in a dark humour fashion (hence why I said vicious).
-
Just realized Hisoka used 2 of diamonds card to cut the first head off, after checking the first link you posted. Funny how you miss the details.
But then I also realized he drops it in the next panel, while slamming the severed head into the ground. Considering it's the only time so far he has used a card, I don't see how it couldn't be relevant.

Thanks for digging but, I feel so silly here lol. I'm talking about Hisoka using Bungee Gum from his feet, which was said by another poster to have happened this chapter (moderate implication, at least). I've looked at your panels and don't see that? Is it the top left panel of the first one you're talking about? Just looks like a kick effect to me.

On the final page, when Hisoka says: I know, you can see that he has a head bungeed to his hand, and Chrollo's face is blurred because he dodged the incoming attack, however this attack went to the arm, and you see the connnection on his left foot. I couldn't find the moment he did it as it could very well be the first head he took(the judge's).

[/Hide]He took 2 heads in this chapter. The first one was cut with 2 of diamonds, and slammed into ground (while the card was just dropped). The second was also severed, but we couldn't see with what. The second head is the one that was used for the first attack. I'm guessing the first one was pulled with his leg. And also that the card might have played some part. The fight is not at a stage where characters would waste movements.

So here are all of Togashi's author comments since starting to publish again:

Does sounds like he's setting the turf for another hiatus.

Yeeesh aren't you the sympathetic one.
Official Jump word was that he had major back surgery which was the cause of the last hiatus.
If he's got issues with chronic back pain, I feel bad for him; that sucks. Recovery can take years and even then the problems can persist for your entire life. -

If he's got issues with chronic back pain, I feel bad for him; that sucks. Recovery can take years and even then the problems can persist for your entire life.Everyone knows that, and I can tell you I sympathize a lot. Most back pain I had was after I pulled one of the muscles in the lower back during rugby game, but it hurt like hell, I could barely walk and felt like I was going to black out the first time I sneezed. What he had was way worse than that.
However, that doesn't change the fact that it's suspicious every comment so far was about his back pain. I figure he's either justifying the fact there was such a long break or he's preparing everyone for the possibility of his back getting worse again.
-
Or maybe his back just really fucking hurts. Dunno that probably factors into it some.
-
In any event, its a decent courtesy of him this time around. At least if we have some idea of what the problem is, we can actually be more sympathetic to breaks, rather than the endless stream of "lol Dragon Quest" jokes that result from being completely left in the dark.

This time I agree with you. We know for certain he doesn't take breaks without reason…now I hope he can really treat himself properly.

Ironically, the best way for him to recover would be to stop drawing. Leaning over a desk for longer periods of time can be detrimental even for a person with healthy back, let alone someone who has had serious issues with it.

Of course, maybe I'm over analyzing it, much like some of his characters would.
-
You can draw in bed or get a standing table, or a tilted one. You don't have to be hunched over.
-
Of course, but most people do tend to hunch over eventually. Even if he's sitting straight in an ergonomic chair on a tilted table, or lying down, he'll always create "some" pressure for the back, more so if he remains in the same position for longer periods. From a fan's perspective, I hope he continues and finishes the story, but for his sake, I hope he stops or lets his assistants pull more weight.
-
Well the assistants are already doing all the backgrounds, whereas before last time he didn't have assistants at all, so that's something.
-
You know, it may be for a limited time only, but I'm really enjoying this McRib. Do you reckon they'll extend the offer due its popularity? Hell, maybe they could put it on the regular McRoster. I'd like that.
-
I was assuming that Togashi's comments are more about the stuff he went through during the last hiatus than current pains.
-
They are, otherwise he wouldn't be able to work.

Reading between the lines it seems quite apparent.
If we don't take the other authors comment at face value, why are we taking his.

Except we do? The other authors generally talk about a highlight of their week, or promo a new thing. Usually we just don't pay attention because its not terribly interesting.

I must say, I'm pretty interested to know what the ramifications of Chrollo using Shalnark and Kortopi's abilities are.
Can he just give them back after the battle or have these two genuinely given up their abilities for good to help defeat Hisoka?
If Hisoka kills Chrollo do they get them back or are they lost forever?
Good thing this battle is pretty awesome and distracts me from the sad thought of Shalnark being devoid of manipulative phone abilities.

If Chrollo would be sure to be loosing he can always try to use Auto Pilot aspect of Shalnarks power..
If he has nothing to loose anymore that is. But for such strategic fight its higly unlikely for him(Togashi) to use it.
-
But for such strategic fight its higly unlikely for him(Togashi) to use it.
Yeah, well it would make sense if it was used as a last resort.
If Chrollo's master strategy has failed then why not try using that kind of Ace in the hole?

This is why Togashi takes breaks.
That interview was from 20 years ago, before he got married & had kids. But actually, I respect him more having read the interview.
It seems like he really wanted to go in interesting directions with the YuYu characters and break them down into their component pieces, but JUMP wouldn't let him,
and it seems like he would've gone off the rails if allowed to, but JUMP's competitive format doesn't encourage that.I always found it disappointing that despite YuYu's wickedly fun mix of action, humor, suspense, and horror, and the great Spirit Detective premise, that somehow the characters kept getting roped into fighting tournaments!
Genkai's disciple tournament, the (Admittedly Terrific) Dark Tournament, and the Demon World Tournament when especially by the end (and especially in the manga) it became clear that Togashi really wanted to take the story & focus other places.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

It's basically impossible that that hasn't crossed someone's mind over at Shueshia (and there are monthly JUMP magazines like JUMP Square and JUMP Square Crown), so there has to be a reason.
