Page 15 (on MS) makes me think if Jack would have been able to kill Zunisha, had it not couterattacked. Look at the size of that thing… cannonballs were hurting it, yeah, but would it eventually kill it? It's almost like someone trying to kill a human being with needles. And they would eventually run out of cannonballs too. I'm not saying it would be definitely impossible for them to kill Zunisha... maybe they could eventually... I'm just saying that wasn't a great plan. Jack, you fail.
Chapter 821: Understood
-
-
Wouldn't surprise me if we see panels from the other calamities taking about Jack like he's the weakest out of the three
-
That elephant is way to loyal. When dudes are trying to destroy a civilization you like and related to your survival, you shouldn't need permission to defend yourself.
That is how Samus felt in Other M.
-
First Burgess and now Jack? Aint no one safe in the New World.
No one from the crew fights Jack(not yet at least), Apoo is now working for Kaidou, Kidd looks imprisoned, and Zunisha committed a crime and forced to walk forever. How does one even make sure Zunisha's sentence is fulfilled? It can't be wondering around on the honor system, I'm going to assume it's ancient devil fruit related. Then again this is One Piece, a duty bound elephant carrying out his sentence out of guilt for a 1000 years is believable.
If Luffy really is moving out next chapter I'd be so happy! Jinbe's just over the horizon!
-
Zunisha!!! someone heal her f*cking leg!!!! my poor bb
-
Jack man you smash things with your trunk too, didn't you think a giant elephant wouldn't do the same?!
So Apoo changed sides, hum? Wano Arc will be quite interessant. -
@sanji''s_dad:
Probably? Its 100% Apoo same laugh and same braces on his mouth also it explains how Kaido found the island.
Apoo doesn't wear braces. His teeth are keyboards… literally... so some are black and shorter than the white ones.
@Mr.:
I don't think Apoo was a double agent, I see it more of him being smart and joining forces with him instead of getting completely obliterated. Kidd doing the complete opposite. No clue where Hawkins would fall into all this.
Where ever the cards lead him. The cards, the cards! The cards will tell!
On P9, last panel, I don't understand why the woman is sweating ? All the other guys are enjoying the violence made to the elephant but she seems nervous about it ?
She's smarter than the guys, she knows that cannonalls vs massively giant and ancient creature won't end well.
-
With the color spread… So do you think the already given SHs will get Pedro, Carrot and even Momonsuke on board to go after Sanji?
Pedro and Carrot could actually be explained easy... but Momonsouke.
Well maybe Momonsuke could come with them cuz being with Luffy would be more "safe", as dumb as it sounds, as going right into Wano, where Kaidou and Co are chasing them
-
Everyone knows you need a few Skells before you start fighting massive Tyrants, Jack. What a second-rate soldier.
-
@Daz:
Mr 3, Wapol or Foxy weren't "big deals" either. None of them were immediately discarded when they arrived on their respective islands because we needed to "get on with the story". Little Garden featured more tension than Zou, despite the latter featuring an attack from a 1billion bounty Yonkou commander.
I'm not saying all arcs need to be identical, or that you can't play with expectations. I just don't think an exposition-heavy arc with very little tension is that exciting, much like the instant capture and preparation of ANOTHER in Toriko.
Sorry Daz but I feel the need to disagree here. Jack was not discarded because we needed to "get on with the story" as you said. He made a decision and went with it, unfortunetely for him he didn´t have enough intel to tell that the Elephant the size of an island with a whole country on its back could retaliate, nor that the person who could grant the being permission was riding him at the moment.
God I am thoroughly happy that it went like this, honestly for a billion belli man Jack needs an extra billion neurons in his brain. I swear that any animal has more common sense than this guy.
Not only he decides to kill an island size animal. For reference those who spoke about Pica's golem size are not even close, It would be better to compare Zunisha to Alabasta, Drum or Dressrosa which are Islands that harbour Counties. Look at the word, country not cities, nor towns but country. For reference King kong gun destroyed a town or city partially. And Pica was the size of a City at most (Though this is not a small size to consider at all) and yet we are speaking of a country here.
Now the Mammoth Genius decides to attack Zunisha, and head on just because, not even by the back? lol I am actually getting pissed when analysing this guys actions. (Ok, I will grant Daz that I got pissed seeing how brain Dead a Yonkou commander can be) I hope the other 2 calamities have better brain connections. It is sound and good to attack a knee to make an elephant fall but from the 4 you take one from the rear right? no he went with one of the 2 from the front; at least he should try to avoid being seen but no the guy instead makes his fleet approach all together just like pins in a bowling runway. Who gave the tittle to this guy?
-
Zou's pretty great.
Really good chapter!
This basically explained "hearing the voice of all things." It's literal. So, the users can understand these ancient, gigantic animals like the seakings and the elephant. It makes me wonder if there are similar ancient dragons out there when keeping in mind the foreshadowing with the dragon and the Celestial Dragons' connection to it at Punk Hazard. It also seems to form a type of a mind link between them? There are multiple shots of Momonosuke's and the elephants perspective switching.
Zou's story is also interesting - having done something terrible he was sentenced to walk for all eternity, unless ordered otherwise. Pretty interesting.
It's all topped off by the Apoo's Denden Mushi.
-
I'm glad the Jack conflict was taken care quickly, making Zunisha epic in the process. I think there's a possibility that Zunisha could be Uranus, Poseidon was a living being, why not Uranus?
So the Kid-Apoo-Hawkins alliance is now in cahoots with Kaido it seems, which is probably bad news for Shanks.
Luffy's ability to hear voices was shared by Roger, and that's no coincidence. I wonder where this ability stems. Is it some advanced form of Haki, or something else?

He didn't even think the elephant had its own will, I bet.
But what did any of you expect from the guy who tried to save Doflamingo in those circumstances? He's recklessly stupid~
Also, yeah there's no way it happened because we needed to get on with the story and no way Zou is over just because Luffy and co are leaving. -
For those who still can't see Kidd's leg, I did the outline in SAI
Hope this helps those who like me had a hard time seeing the shape, which does look like Kidd's leg.
-
I can't get over how beautiful the colourspread is! Absolutely stunning!
- oh, Momo can hear Zunisha's voice as well
-Zunisha has commited a terrible crime? Hm, wonder what that was
-Well, your plan really backfired, Jack
- oh, Momo can hear Zunisha's voice as well
-
Zou is OP. It was great to see it wipe out Jack's fleet without any problem. Finally, Jack realizes the sheer consequence of being reckless. The perfect wake up call.
I am willing to bet that Apoo was affiliated with Kaido all along. It is definitely not coincidence he landed exactly where Apoo was planning with Hawkins and Kidd. With Kaido right there, Apoo could just simply betray them and have the other two captains captured. Knowing Kidd, he probably tried fighting back hence why he is in lock up. Apoo seems like the kind of person who would do such a thing: Throwing others under the bus just to be on the side that definitely has the best chance of success.
Overall, great chapter.
-
Ishuhui's cleaning of the panel is better, but I'm still not convinced.
!
-
@Galaxy:
Ishuhui's cleaning of the panel is better, but I'm still not convinced.
That is definitely Kidd. No doubt about it.
Interesting that he was locked up and not killed off…..it could be interesting if Luffy frees him and he ends up momentarily at least take part in this war with Kaido. It'd be nice to see how strong he has become
-
Jack and his men also wear pants with frills on them, so it might not be just Kidd who wears that kind of pants.
Those are typical pirate pants if you will (the equivalent of 18th century's pirates style of clothing). So it might not be a significant clue after all.
-
We must respect the great mighty elephant that is Zunisha, who I have a feeling will have an interesting backstory told to us later down the line. Man, do I love One Piece and it's worldbuilding.
-

Not everyone on the spread has to be big players. Remember the spread for 750 where Luffy was with many of the gladiators? Some were one the couch and others behind it?
I used it as part of the argument that Adbullah and Jeet would support Luffy. Many on the cover turned out to join the Strawhat Grand Fleet and are captains. But Law is an ally not part of the Grand Fleet and Abdullah & Jeet are not captains. Neither is Dadaba (sp?) he's an underling of Elizibello. And Blue Gilly isn't a captain, he along with Abdullah & Jeet joined up with Ideo to form a new crew. So those were the 'odd men out' of the theme but still had roles to playThis spread could be similar, most on the cover will have some role in the
rescueSanji retrieval with Luffy while some others won't go directly with Luffy will still have a role to play in the story. While I'm not sure they will go with Luffy to retrieve Sanji, I do agree that Pedro and Carrot will be some of the main minks in the story.
-
so with zou ending, next chapter should be where they all go their different ways, and 823 we should finally switch to whole cake island.
Only 1 chapter left until Sanji is back, I hope. -
Zunisha is like Male of Female? Cause it doesn't sound male like Ganesha…Ganesha is male, right?
-
Maybe that's actually Kaido sitting on the ground? If his men wear the same pants as the ones Kidd wears, then it's possible the same applies to Kaido, and we haven't seen his legs either, just his shimenawa.
And the call is for him too so it makes sense he would be in the room.
-
That was, without a doubt one of the best chapters I have ever read. Humor, drama, brutality it was epic. Of all the motherfuckers to take down Jack, IT WAS THE ELEPHANT. If Jack comes back now, it'd be a bit of an asspull. While that "battle" was short, it was extremely satisfying and clever. A little bit of backstory on Zuniesha, an Apoo appearance, a hint that Kaido made the Kid Pirates his bitch, I loved every page. I loved when Luffy was all like "Give me food!" I just loved it. One Piece at its finest, thanks Oda (And best of all, the chapter was longer than usual)
-
Zunisha is like Male of Female? Cause it doesn't sound male like Ganesha…Ganesha is male, right?
My mind automatically thinks female, but I don't think we've been given a particular gender.
-
Anyone else noticed the panel with ginrummy? wonder what's making her sweat drop like that? maybe she will defect
And the translation said that "zou committed a crime" not zunisha….wonder if it's accurate and if it's the minks who did something.
-
Zunisha is like Male of Female? Cause it doesn't sound male like Ganesha…Ganesha is male, right?
I don't think it's specified whether he's male or female, Zunisha I mean. But yeah Ganesha is male.

That's definitely better, thanks for this !

Hmm, not sure what to make of this. It wrapped up a little easily. Earlier Luffy promised to punch Jack good and hard. Now he gets wiped out by a trunk swipe… like... thirdhand. I don't really count that as Luffy keeping his promise.
Jack's a dumb, in any case. Again.
The color samurai pic was great, though. Will there be a parody this week ?
Please may there be a parody this week. The chapter was awesome, with some really great panels. I'm glad Jack was finally dealt with, even though many people (me included) would have loved seeing Zoro or Law fight him. But we're finally moving on to Whole Cake Island ! Which means Sanji ! And Germa 66 ! And Big Mom ! (yay !!!!)
Apoo really intrigues me. When did he switch sides like that ?
How will KHA's situation evolve ? Kidd seems to have been captured, but what about Killer and Hawkins ? Were they captured too ?
I'm guessing Hawkins' abilities would be useful to an emperor, and maybe (maybe!) could it be that Killer has special abilities / a particular background that would interest Kaido. The color spread was really nice (saying it again). Last time we had similar art but only with Zoro, Nami and Luffy (I think).

Still, would be weird to intentionally show that panel if it were just a random Kaido goon, especially when Apoo is implicitly presented right after.
And thanks for outlining Kidd's (?) clothes ! -
All readers were waiting to know what happened with the meeting between KId's alliance and Kaido. Next page you see Apo is working under Kaido's command and … a jail. So why the jail? Someone got jailed. Kid or Basil or both.
-

Could be Kaido himself, Jack also wears that kind of pants. And the call is for him too. Apoo is calling Kaido on the den den mushi, and not just some other goon of his. So this should be Kaido's own den den mushi, and the editor note says "Kaido appears!" too.
And no problem.

Those could be bars on windows that are seen in Japanese castles. That giant structure could be the Shogun's palace in Wano.
-
Jack going down that quick sure wasn´t what most people hoped for.
An extended fight with Zoro for Zou would have been badass, but instead we got tusk to tha face.
Nobody can say Oda doesn´t mix his formula here and there up a bit.
The first 1 billion berry dude going down twice, while still being a badass, oh yeah that´s how Oda does it.(but no worries, Jack will be back in Wano for a fight we wanna see)
-
It's unlikely that Jack can recover from this, so he will return at Wano as enemy, since we didn't get to see him fight or even use all his zoan modes. Similar how baby 5 and Buffalo got defeated in punk hazard but we still got them as enemies in Dressrosa.
If we are going based on the crucify and chill thing, then he should be enemy of Kid.
-
I'm surprised no one quoted me from here http://forums.arlongpark.net/showthread.php?t=43680&p=3608634&viewfull=1#post3608634
I'm sure even a handful of people thought of the possibility for the elephant wounding Jack (can't remember if I meant outright defeat or what), but I never read whole threads to see if that's the case. -
Should be the end of Jack.
Having incredible strength and 1 Billion bounty won't do you anything if you're as stupid as he is. Then again, seeing how he used poison the moment the Minks proved to be a match shows he probably earned his bounty through cruelty more than anything. He likely slaughtered tons of innocents rather than beat strong guys like the Straw Hat did.
-
I wanted to just get this out of my system so here I go. (takes a big breath)
DAMN SON, JACK JUST GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT!!!
Also, I'm so pumped for the next arc! Sanji, Jinbei, and new nakama, HERE WE GO!:w00t:

Anyone else noticed the panel with ginrummy? wonder what's making her sweat drop like that? maybe she will defect

Maybe she realized that attacking a giant elephant like that was a bad idea….

While i see it possible that Kidd is stubborn enough to resist being Kaidou´s underling, i think cutting to him in that panel would be kind of random.
That panel should normally show where the guy is who receives the call. -
Could be Kaido himself, Jack also wears that kind of pants. And the call is for him too. Apoo is calling Kaido on the den den mushi, and not just some other goon of his. So this should be Kaido's own den den mushi, and the editor note says "Kaido appears!" too..
The bars that, supposedly, would form a cell are shown on the foreground, probably meaning that Oda wants us to know that the man behind them is imprisoned.
However, it is true that Kaido being the man laying down there is a possibility. Because of where the speech bubble is placed, and where the den den mushi is.
Those could be bars on windows that are seen in Japanese castles. That giant structure could be the Shogun's palace in Wano.
Nice ! Then yeah, why not.

I'm sure even a handful of people thought of the possibility for the elephant wounding Jack (can't remember if I meant outright defeat or what), but I never read whole threads to see if that's the case.I was going to say that quite a few people said it. But strangely you were forgotten.

Exactly, could be Kaido laying there, as for why maybe he can't fit inside the castle. It doesn't look like a prison or cell to me because the bars are colored light, but if they were iron bars(or sea stone) they should be colored dark.So I believe those are windows.
-
I'm a 1000 times more convinced by the threat of a bunch of giant elephants than a bunch sea kings. Sorry fish, but you got cut to often and are limited to water. Makes you underwhelming. Kinda like Jack actually.
-
Kid captured? Apoo prolly jumped onto Kaidous side and became his underling?
-
The mnks have a prime occasion to catch Jack.
-
Those trees in the last page seem like those japanese trees? so that could be wano?
-
Those could be bars on windows that are seen in Japanese castles. That giant structure could be the Shogun's palace in Wano.
How casual… :ninja:

Feel free to ignore my input from now on.

@Don:
While i see it possible that Kidd is stubborn enough to resist being Kaidou´s underling, i think cutting to him in that panel would be kind of random.
That panel should normally show where the guy is who receives the call.not necessarily, it's implicating that kid is captured on the same island that kaido (and the giant black creature) are in, possibly setting up a confrontation with the SH group to save kid, also hints that apoo was probably working with kaido from the beginning and that kaido falling on kids base wasn't just a coincidence
