I'm so happy right now.
Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
-
I'm so happy right now.
-
I'm going to be optimistic and bet 13.
-
I will roll with eleven chapters, complete 2 volumes, with we reaching the fake DC or the Guardian of the gate before the next hiatus.
-
I bet there won't be any hiatus for at least one whole year.
-
Time to dig through the Internetz and find the chapters released what feels like a year ago.
Saying 7 chapters before next break myself.
-
It will be back for only 6 chapters though….
-
i accualy had completely forgotten about this series. so the hiatus wasnt realy painfull for me
-
April 1 isn't for two weeks guys. This is a terrible joke.
-
I actually checked the date by habit after seeing the post.
-
So assuming if we get a chapter this week, then we will have total of 3 chapters before April 1. So i'll bet on Togashi giving up and just ending the series in 3 chapters.
-
Was just thinking about this today and was wondering whether he'd resume anytime soon. Feel like I played a part in this, you lot better feel at least a little grateful to me!
In all seriousness now, betting on 10 chapters.
-
I know he supposedly has actual back pain issues causing the hiatuses, but to a certain extent it's hard not to blame Togashi some for the ridiculousness of his Hiatuses.
He refuses to hire assistants, which is kindof instane, MOST Manga Authors have at least one, often several assistants helping with the work.
For example, Oda has assistants. Drawing One Piece was apparently so stressful for Oda that he was working himself to death so much to the point that now they've started doing that "3 weeks on, 1 week off" schedule for him to lighten his load so he stops being hospitalized, and that's WITH assistants.
Togashi apparently refuses to hire ANY which is one of the chief reasons Squiggle chapters are a thing.
If he would hire some assistants and maybe also move the manga to a Monthly schedule, He'd probably be able to keep up without needing more than your occasional understandable breaks instead of a Massive, multi-year Hiatus every 10 chapters.
-

He had assistants last time around, thats why the backgrounds were so good and consistent and there was ziptone and the inking changed. You only need to go back like one page of this thread to see the discussion on that.
He still only made it to 9 chapters, and with a break in the middle of that.
For example, Oda has assistants. Drawing One Piece was apparently so stressful for Oda that he was working himself to death so much to the point that now they've started doing that "3 weeks on, 1 week off" schedule for him to lighten his load so he stops being hospitalized, and that's WITH assistants.
Also false. That was basically a rumor that we as a forum created as explanation for his recurring breaks, but that was never official or stated in any way, and we've had clarification since by unnoficial sources. Oda takes that schedule now sheerly because he's gotten older. Man wants to spend time with his family, relax a little. He's earned it. That's why its not a consistent 3-1 thing, sometimes he does five or six weeks straight. By all reports he's in perfectly fine health, though he is a heavy smoker. (Also he's still committing tons of energy to the movies every couple years)
Right after the hospital stay it may have been mandated, but its not a "rule."

I had a conversation with a friend yesterday and said I didn't think Hunter X Hunter would ever come back. Literally yesterday, mang.
-
I say… it will be 11 chapters. Looking forward to see crazy magical Nen killer prince antics with Ging and Pariston shenanigans in the background. Oh you want to see Gon and Killua? Ging isn't the main character? LIES... nobody remember who Gon is anyway... :ninja:
-
Can it be true….
-
I say we get 5-7 more chapters of people talking about stuff. What stuff? Well duh, stuff, of course!
Then it ends.
-
11 chapters. you can do it, Togashi!
-
Going to say we get at least through the year on a 3 chapter, 1 week off cycle
-
My guess is that we get a HxH bomb. I'm talking one chapter every day of the week for one week. Then we never hear from him again.

Exposition is important, dammit.
Considering how the last chapter ended, there could be even more exposition about 6 princes who made bodyguard requests in the next chapter.
-
Omgomg best news in ever! I can't wait.
-
OMG OMG OMG
Actually the first time i'm awaiting new chapters.^^
-
Crazy to know that we'll probably finally have a new chapter sometime tomorrow after all this time…
I'm betting on... 17 chapters. Optimistic.
-
I am cold realistic and say 6 chapters…but I will be super grateful for those chapters and every chapter past of those will be super awesome.
-
I'll be super grateful if I never have to see that tit monster again.
-
I'll make a story prediction and say some (or all) of the spiders will be hired as bodyguards, or in some other way get on that boat. Last we saw they wanted vengeance on Kurapika when the opportunity presented itself. The expedition (along with Kurapika's Zodiac position) are known to the public.
Chrollo is confirmed as having his Nen exorcised since Hisoka was chasing him around the world.
-
I'm not expecting more than 5 chapters. That's at most. I'm really barely expecting 1.
Togashi should just release the rest of his series on Disney. Then their scheduling might actually match up.
-
OH my God, I can't believe we're finally getting another chapter!
-
All these past years… I've been waiting for the return of Gyro. Perhaps I should wait for another 8 years.
-
hugs the HxH thread
I missed you :'D
-
-
I am legitimately pumped for more chapters of set up dialog. These last 10 chaps of everyone having their own agendas have been awesome, I would say I cannot wait for more, but I already did. Things are gonna get crazy with the princes once they board the ship, I hope we get to meet each a bit in the upcoming chapters, the Zodiac planning looks mostly done.
-
Oh my!! HxH Manga and Jojo Anime at the same time. It's heaven.
I truly hope Togashi has shrugged off his back injury. And can't wait to see what he does with the story, endless amount of posibilities. Mainly with fighting match ups.
-
Ah a new cycle of HxH. I've seen it so many times. HxH fanboys come out of the woodwork after years of lurking, more recycling of the same arguments and excuses "You know, the hiatus wasn't THAT long." "Maybe Togashi had a good reason, maybe he DOES have health problems!?" "If only Togashi would just hire assisstants!" "Togashi is totally justified in taking breaks, if more mangaka took two year breaks, the manga industry wouldn't be in such a crap hole that it already is!" A general feeling of optimism is felt by all. Any and all sort of criticism against the author's work ethic is no longer tolerated because it "might be health problems, you don't know!" Maybe this time is for real, maybe it was just health problems and Togashi is all better now? Then Togashi gets bored and goes back to play Dragon Quest for another 1-2 years, the lurkers go back lurking, reality sets in, and resentment starts building up again as we come to grips with the obvious fact that it probably is that Togashi is just lazy. And the cycle continues.
For my opinion's worth, I think HxH has been a terrible series and hasn't been good since York Shin written by an author of a visual medium who substitutes visuals with massive super boring text logs which makes me question why he doesn't switch to writing novels. The story itself has been filled with plot conveniences, horrible anticlimaxes and lots of exploration of boring meaningless plot threads and characeters no one gives a crap about. In the very last batch of chapters, Togashi, brilliant mastermind genius that he is, decided to introduce a
New WorldDark Continent as well as introduce some newStandguardian spirit system after 300 chapters of not a hint of either of these existing but I'm sure they were the plan all along. Not to mention Don Freecs! Oh my god how exciting, Don Freecs, we know nothing about him and never had a hint of him ever existing but this is such a major development, I mean he has such a cool name and he was making a journal on this mysterious continent we've never heard of before!Well whatever, let's enjoy our like ten chapters of content while they last :)
-
looking forward to those 2 chapters
-
@TLC:
as well as introduce some new
Standguardian spirit system after 300 chapters of not a hint of either of these existing:)Huh? I don't remember this.
-
We need to see Leorio evolving as a fighter since he is still scrub tier, glad the focus now will be on him and Kurapika.
-
Hold on what?
Well, 12 chapters then. -
Huh? I don't remember this.
If I remember correctly it's some sort of Nen Stand that the princes possess.
-
Come on. It was just last chapter that they introduced the Hundred Boobs Penis Monster.
-

Soo it was just a specific Nen power?
@KageKageKing:Come on. It was just last chapter that they introduced the Hundred Boobs Penis Monster.
That was like 12 years ago, though.
-
I'm betting on 13 chapters..woo
-
Conspiracy Theory Time:
HxH kept going on Hiatus because Togashi was waiting for Miura. The new continent in HxH is actually just the Fairy Island in Berserk and the authors wanted their characters to arrive at the same time. -
All i can think of right now is that baby prince that'll probably get killed and the pages of disgust/defending statements that will follow.

So, what, we're supposed to come up with new responses to the same thing happening? That's a weird complaint to levy against folks. Especially when "complain about people responding the same way" is about as trite of a response.

I don't think your opinion here is worth much, because it mostly sounds like you're just trying to be edgy. There's no real reason to call it terrible, since even at its worst points, it is never that bad (except the lazy art, which you don't address). You make it sound like Fairy Tail or something, but we've never gotten two meaningless timeskips in a row, or blatant misogyny and fanservice that takes up entire chapters. Togashi's never nuked his story's premise or the development of his characters for cheap entertainment. He's never retconned entire characters or ideas on repeated whims. The worst things his story has ever done is, what, do some late game worldbuilding? Used a couple admittedly annoying deus ex machinas? Did exposition a little poorly? Even some of my favorite series have pulled some of that shit, and that doesn't make it good, but it's really slim pickings from the salt mine. Especially for a series that, otherwise, has presented a lot of interesting ideas and characters.
I won't say there isn't fat or rot here and there, but if you're going to treat anything less than the most peerless fine arts as trash, then you probably shouldn't be reading Shonen Jump.
-
You can say what you want but for the friction it creates between users alone this is well worth it. The HxH days during the next few weeks may be short but they shall be good.
-
Come on. It was just last chapter that they introduced the Hundred Boobs Penis Monster.
Looked more like vagina monster to me.
Wasn't even that subtle.
-
Great news. Not going to bet or predict how long it will lasts.
I'm just going to enjoy the ride and hopes that he's healthy and will write enough chapters in this run to have a clearer idea of where this arc is going. -
I don't think your opinion here is worth much
That's the correct response to a TLC rant. Dude can't seem to stand when people like things he doesn't (or dislike things he likes)
