Gohan should train in the chamber for like 5 years minimum

I would say that you can't stay that many days but it's not like the Chamber ever made sense to begin with.
-
Instant, permanent, and with a 100% success record?
Permanent unless Toriyama decides to conviently pull some ass.
As if Tenshinhan hasn't suffered enough over the years (despite objectively being more useful than people like Krillin and Vegeta post-Namek), now there's this.
Being a gatekeeper or fusion fooder is a much better fate than being
Yamchaa training dummy. -

exactly lol. That would be the easiest way for Gohan to get a power up in a short time

New chamber, new rules. Goku and Vegeta just did three years. After having done a couple before.

Dense is.. Too good of a god. I mean the two wishes, and now a better time room? Maybe he is better at dealing with popo or something.
-
Little Green returned from Nam a changed man.

Makes sense. He actually grew up on Namek, has an innate knack for magical stuff, and received some training for it.
While Kami just sort of blindly did the stuff out of instinct.
-
What about Piccolo? He did some extreme training to justify he being on the "strongest team" along with Goku, Vegeta and Buu?
I never paid that much attention to DBZ, but I don't remember him being one of the strongest guys anymore during Buu's arc (and I skipped all the episodes in DBS after the fight against Beerus started :|).

He was frozen in stone for a good chunk of the Buu arc, and then later on they started pinning their hopes on fusions being the only thing to overpower Buu. He was still up there in strength, just not "two super saiyans combined" worth. He was the strongest guy during Cell saga for a while aside from Gohan.
Him continuing to train over the next couple year, while Gohan apparently slacked off like crazy, (to the point he can't even go super anymore? Let alone mystic?) would pretty easily make up the difference.
-
Gohan slacked off for 7 years between the Cell arc and the Buu arc and he only got somewhat weaker and had no trouble with SSJ.
For "mystic" Gohan to have become this weaker just a few years after he was clearly the stongest unfused fighter (and even stronger than Gotenks) is incomprehensible.

Seeing the recent episode of DBS, reminds me of when I was a kid and watched the newgrounds fanmade battles.

Yellow. Watch the anime version! xd

At least i'm glad goku lost due to some unknown technique other than by strength, and strength wise, universe 7 seems far stronger than 6th. Maybe the reason universe 6 is so "peaceful" it's because both universes are the opposite of one another? Universe 7 had a lot of evil people so in universe 6 a lot of them are less evil? Seeing as they are twin universes maybe this logic applies to the other twin universes? Maybe…
So far the hype of the warriors from universe 6 are being completely torn apart, let's see if Hit can up the game, cuz frost couldn't even maintain his final form for so long while freezer could do that even in his sleep (pre-resurrection of F) and even Cabe stated that the saiyans from his universe couldn't transform. Let's hope for some beastly foes in DBS cuz the multiverse gives reason for that, but so far it's been a little bit of a letdown.
-
Well it seems clear for me that Frost is the one causing Goku's condition.
But well… I'm more interested in Piccolo's fight against him. Maybe the reason he is "staying away" preparing a Makankōsappō from Frost is this... Knowing that he will be knocked out in close combat cuz of this abilit
-
It would be a good thing if the earth's did swap places since the only good thing in their universe is the king kai and planet namek (which does not need help now and has dragon balls that not as good as the other universe) so they're better off gaining access to the super dragon balls and maybe even find a god piccolo looking guy that created them giving piccolo someone to train with to get the god form of his race plus you have the saiyan home world that vegeta wants to visit.
-
Also U7 relies on raw strength while U6 seems to rely on hax.
50 50 chances Piccolo beats Frost, that Kage Bunshin + Makankosappo combo seemed cool in the preview.
-
But surely the anime can't be just this? 2 reruns of the movies and a couple of half episode/one episode fights with clearly weaker opponents? Gimme some Freeza-level fighting man.
-
I'm not liking the anime at all. Things are going way too fast.
I was actually hoping the anime would provide a much more in-depth story. So far, the Manga has the edge on that. Story-wise it's much better.
For example: this episode Goku said he had to put on the heavy outfits from Whis before. However, this was never explained in the anime. In the anime we just see them training with those outfits. In the Manga there is this whole scene where Goku and Vegeta get into a fight and as a punishment they get the outfits (it's pretty funny and also explains the name of the new Super Saiyan Blue form. But the anime just ignored it).
I was actually hoping the anime would expand the whole Dragon Ball universe, giving more detail to story than the Manga can do. So far, it seems to be the opposite. (With a few exceptions, I liked how Whis changed the seats around the ring last week. That's the stuff I prefer.)

DragonBall anime with pacing that's too fast….........oh the irony.

Piccolo and Freeza are two of the three characters I really like in DB, so I should like the next episode. But, damn, the quality of this thing is abysmal. I don't usually watch long animes, much less recent ones (JoJo aside), so every time I watch an episode of this I am in awe at how much the quality of animes have dropped. A little over 10 years ago, delivering something that looked as bad as this would be unthinkable, but now it seems the norm.
-
Speaking as someone who was watching a long-running anime back in 2005 and has been watching stuff from the 90s recently…if you truly think that, you need to watch more.
-
Yeah…There was some subpar episodes back in the 90s. But also some really excellent parts. A bunch of obvious shortcuts but then some stellar moments. Even watching the DBZ abridged version it should show you how the quality can swing drastically in each episode.
-
I'm for the most part liking Super but this episode really came off as bad fanfiction when it comes to Piccolo's portrayal. My first issue is that Piccolo has been stronger than a base level super Saiyan since he fused with Kami at the beginning of the cell saga so why is it that he has to rely on a spirit bomb type strategy to fight frost who is clearly only about as strong as Frieza was during the end of the namek saga? Makes no sense. Secondly Piccolo is a wise fighter so how come he didn't realize something was amiss with Frost and instead it's Vegeta and Jaco. This episode really makes me think the writers need to go back and reread the source material.
-
The tournament is shit… For what purpose have they been hyping Boo and Piccolo? One did nothing bsides failing a test (Vegeta's fault) and the 2nd won per DQ but Prince Vegeta wanted his fight and told him to GTFO... and he agreed.
So actually if we think further... With a DQ for Frost Goku could have returned. But no, Vegeta had to crush it... again and he is my favoruite character

All long runners have rises and dips in quality. They'll often throw a ton of budget at a big fight episode, but then have a bunch of talking heads the next episode to make up for it. It's completely normal for any production that has to keep making new content year around.
There are exceptions like the HxH remake, but they had the advantage of the series being finished for all intents and purposes, so they had a ton of lead time and knew exactly how long it was going to run even before they started.
But yeah, all long runners have dips. Its not a "new" thing that happened since the 90's. Old Dragonball had shifting quality constantly. The only time you're going to see a consistent quality is when something is only 6-12 episodes or something, like One Punch Man.
ANd that aside, its Toei who… kind of suck despite having a ton of big franchises. The OP anime is pretty much just awful at this point, and Sailor Moon Crystal has been nothing but panned. Other studios like Madhouse are generally better about keeping the quality up. It's not an industry-wide thing, or even a consistent Dragonball thing. It's just a natural dip.

Piccolo was supposed to defeat Frost via DQ then lose to Magetta according to the Japanese TV Guides.
Those plans were scratched once there were changes in DBS staff.

According to infos I have read. The episode titles never actually have been confirmed

Besides from the quality of the animation. The fights of this super power beings is just plain boring. Even the filler tournament in heaven from DBZ was much more entertaing than this.
-
There doesn't seem to be any real stakes or importance in this tournament besides Champa getting to own planet earth. But he's not going to blow it up or do any harm to it, so why should we care which god of destruction has it?
The only reason why everyone is there is just boredom. That these characters got nothing better to do with their lives than to just fight a strong opponent. Not one who is threatening the earth or have any personal grievences against them, just a boring exhibition match.Fucking hell, give us someone like Younger Toguro.
-
Aw, Frost was evil all along? But likeable gentleman Freeza posing for photos with babies was neat!! Whats the point of Alternate Universe doppelgangers if you're just going to copypaste everything, only swith slight cosmetic variations?
Behold Universe 5 Perfect Cell! This one still has a tail, and a slightly different dialect.
-
I really hope Vegeta beats at least 3 guys, even though I feel like this tournament will be interrupted for some reason.

DBS ep.36 (March 27th): "An Unexpectedly Tricky Opponent!? Vegeta's Explosion of Rage!" ; Vegeta defeats Frost with merciless attack, but new rule is added: touching barrier around the arena, even in midair, means a ring out. Vegeta fights Megetta next, whose rough body and diverse attacks give him a tough time. He turns into a "Super Super Saiyan" (SSGSS?), but..
DBS ep.37 (April 3rd): Title Undecided. Vegeta vs Cabba; Cabba puts up even fight in base form, says he can't become Super Saiyan.
DBS ep.38 (April 10th): "Here's Universe 6's Final Warrior: Hit, Mightiest of Men!". No plot details available
Magetta is sure a big surprise, forcing Veggie to use SSJB.
-
I really expected a lot more from Boo and Piccolo fight, but you don't get always what you want Meeh dragon ball z hentai comics
-
Well the manga isn't really needed anymore… But here
http://www.shencomics.com/archives/1179891
The Piccolo fight is a bit different but besides that nothing new
-
Well… That's kinda disappointing, I was hoping we'd get something new.
-
So….
! Monaka could be weak as dirt but then brings up the question why Beerus brought him at all
Also
! Hit's attack on frost was cool, I feel it may take SSJB Goku to fight him
-
Holy shit… I'm really a Vegeta fan... but for THIS Piccolo has been thrown out?
So for what reason have Buu and him in the tournament after all?
-
Frost was the Galan(NNT fans will get it) of Universe 6.
Piccolo wouldve hit the ground already if he faced Magetta.
-
Frost did not lolstomped anybody there so comparing him to galan is not justified.
-
I wish they had done a third movie instead of Super. It would have come out around this time anyways where the anime finally reached the new material and probably would be higher quality animation and fight wise.
I was excited for the new material but most of it has been a disappointment so far even though some of the ideas they try like how most of the opponent's goku and vegeta face now can't be beaten just by their olympus level strength and require them thinking to achieve victory is nice the other plot problems still make it nearly unwatchable (I know he still technically won but man I wanted to see Picollo kick butt). It makes me want to watch GT again to be honest.

[gasp] You wash your filthy mouth out right no j/k.

I think this tournament is just plain stupid fun.
-
I forget who pointed it out before. But is there anything really at stake in this tournament? There's no tension.
Also Piccolo losing was bs. He's my favorite but I feel he hasn't had a proper fight in forever.
-
What I find weird is that they even pretended to give Piccolo something to bite after how excruciatingly humiliated him and Gohan were during Freeza's return. Didn't the whole thing with Freeza reborn go something like: Base form Goku>>Final Form Freeza>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>base form Freeza>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Piccolo and SSGohan???? Like, that guy who was supposed to be Ginyu's equal proved to be more than a match for him (at least in the movie version)? Like, they forgot Piccolo is actually stronger than the friggin androids, but here he was super weakened?
If anything, everything was pointing towards Piccolo being super nerfed and stuff, but they still brought him to a tournament where the strongest of 2 different universes duke it out and apparently he can go toe to toe with Frost's final form (at least, in the manga) that forced Goku to go SS, which should mean this Frost guy is at least as strong as New Freeza and. . .holy shit is my head hurting. Too much.
Also, Goku going SS puts him. . .where power wise? If his base form is so godly strong now, his base SS form is equal to what? SS3? Things were so much easier before. SS1 was SS1, SS2 was SS2, etc. . .
And I'm worried about PL's cause, let's face it, DB has been for a while all about PL's, and when they don't make a tiny bit of sense, yeah. . .
-
So in comparison to Toei's anime, the tie-in fan manga seems to be a lot more legit. For example, Botamo in the anime simply didn't take damage and stood like a wall against Goku's punches, while in the manga he absorbed hits while his body bounced and contorted to impact. Frankly the latter example seems much cooler and sillier to feel more in nature to how Dragonball is. He's looks like a big squishy bear, so hitting him should have the result of a big squishy bear. Then there's Frost on how he wasn't so much an evil prick (even more so than Frieza it would seem) but an arrogant liar in the manga. The pacing seems to be a lot better as well. The anime has been pretty much a disappointment, not so much on the story, but the slow and terrible animation just sucks all the tension and it just isn't fun to look at.

The planet and Super Dragon Balls are at stake.
