My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
-
Love how Urakara is carrying air barrier kid.
-
That Deadpool wanna be kinda reminds me of the Nightcrawler from the XMen 2 movie.
I guess that was Black Mist that just showed up to save both Lips guy and Spinner
-
Thought that was good. Good thinking on Momo's part and I continue to like the Uraraka and Asui tag-team.
-
Also, on the subject of X-Men, how many times has Marvel ever done a four man Fastball Special?

I would love seeing a BNHA Live Action Movie made by Bryan Singer.

That kinda gives away the villains succeeding in the kidnapping of Bakugou(And Fumikage).

You guess? I don't think they were trying to hide it.
-

Would you guys mind it if they merely loosely adapted it with Hollywood actors?? It's funny, 'cause MHA is one of the few series that could work as a hollywood live-action.
-
"those brats, I know them! who are they?"
I love twice
-
So we have Tabi, Clone guy, Blood girl, the magician, Todoroki, Shouji and Deku in the same place with trapped Bakugou and Tokoyami.
If they didn't move too far, Aoyama is hiding near them too and the Noumu is heading there. Most likely Black Mist and the other two will too since that seems to be the rendevouz point.
Lets see how this plays out.
-
Seems as though that scary Noumu took out Ragdoll since he's holding her gear. Hmmm..
Momo and Awase planting that tracker on Noumu combined with Blackmist/Kurogiri showing up definitely seems to hint at a successful kidnapping incoming. But I'm not so sure it will necessarily be Bakugou and Tokoyami since we could easily have a twist happen with Blackmist portals and a super fatigued Deku.
Deku's strategy for catching up was awesome. It was cute how Uraraka used her shirt to make him a sling too before they took off.
Also, on the subject of X-Men, how many times has Marvel ever done a four man Fastball Special?
Isn't it technically 5 man in this case? Anyway I love the teamwork

Twice is the best! It's too bad MS is doing a poor job with his lines.

Hopefully Aoyama can shake the cowardliness and do some hero stuff next chapter - this is his chance to finally
shinesparkle. -

I was going by the number of people being thrown but I'm realizing I miscounted. So yeah it's probably five total (Deku, Todoroki, Souji, Uraraka, and Tsuyu)

And also since BNHA gives off Marvel vibes, Singer could do wonders with the series, he has done a fantastic job with the X-Men movies.
Jennifer Lawrence playing Mount Lady would be funny to watch, lol.

…Would I somehow get a ticket from Viz to the Hollywood premiere and get to meet JLaw!?
eyes start to sparkle
Twice is the best! It's too bad MS is doing a poor job with his lines.
Yeah… I caught on to that...as soon as I could have. It's weird.
-
It would work better as a TV series.

http://www.mangahere.co/manga/nanatsu_no_taizai/c061/19.htmlAnyway the villain better get Bakougou if they are to be taken seriously by the readers. The students managed to put a tracker so that should be enough.
-
Alright, where's the pun on Awase's name that indicates a welding quirk?
-
@CCC:
Yeah… I caught on to that...as soon as I could have. It's weird.
Haha yeah it is. You'd think they would've caught on like everyone else after that panel where he's simultaneously flipping Dabi off while giving a thumbs up. Looks like they changed a couple panels but still left some mistakes.
BTW, I'm curious what your take was with the Magician's name. Ishuhui went with Mr. Complex, MS went with Mr. Compress, and korean scans went with 컴프레스 which is traditionally compress, but can be read as comprex. Chinese train of thought was that it was a nod to Mr. Strange.. but given what he did to Tokoyami and Bakugou either one could potentially work depending on what his quirk is I guess?
Alright, where's the pun on Awase's name that indicates a welding quirk?
"Yousetsu"(溶接) is literally the word for welding. Wasn't very subtle this time around, haha. Though I guess there was a bit of a fake out with the literal kanji making people think it'd be water/ice based.
-
The phonetics are definitely compress. It's a legit katakana word. Complex would be コンプレクス.
Yosetsu, unfortunately, is a completely untranslatable pun. Gotta have a translation note for that one.
-
I was under the impression Magician dude turned Bakugou and Tokoyami into those little pills.
So Compress would make sense.
-
I hope when they release it on Blu-Ray, those Blu-Rays are region-free. Or they're released in the UK.
-

Well Shouji tried but still he was the MVP of this arc.
So who are gonna be the 5 that rescue Bakugou?
Maybe…
Iida
Ochako
Shouto
Fumikage
ShoujiAnd Deku returns ala Rock Lee?

Personally, I'm wondering if they'll do any kind of simuldub like I remember them doing for Assassination Classroom.
-
Shouji easily stole the spotlight this arc. To think the student I found least appealing would end up so enjoyable. I love how different he is from his classmates personality wise, being very mature and calm.
And thumbs up for Aoyama for saving Tokoyami. He's the most unpredictable student for me, so I look forward to seeing him develop.
-
Still loving the craziness of Toga. Hoping to see a lot more of her in the future.
Especially the inevitable scene where she "breaks" and we get nightmarish facial expressions, violent sprees, whatever cliché you want.
At least, I hope she's that type of crazy. -
Unless invisible girl has the quirk of GRANTING invisibility and left a b class student there, or was caught up in a unpredictable plan, she is not the traitor. But aoyama kind of proved that he was just a freak, not an evil one.
-
If we're still assuming there's a traitor in Class A, then it's Hagakure, by process of elimination. It's not important that she didn't do anything explicitly villainous in this arc; the traitorous act was giving up the group's location, which is enough. Also, the fact that she didn't even make an appearance during this villain attack (or appear on any minimaps. Again.) is honestly another strike against her.
inb4 she shows up for the arc wrap-up and says something like "Wow you guys sure did battle hard out there tonight! Good job!"
…Unless Yuga is playing the reeeally long con, getting direct orders from All For One, and needing to fool the other kids by pretending to cower in the face of Tomura/Dabi.
-
The moment when I can't find anything to say about the chapter. Bakugou ain't Sasuke, I guess, he's pretty different. If I had to compare Bakugou to a revenge-driven shounen manga character I'd be Eren Jeager, actually. The rage and humbling character arc part, at least.
-

I thought she was gassed along with Kyouka.
As for the minimaps, it might just be author going meta.
-
Another fantastic chapter. Not a huge fan of the beginning scene since it's only real purpose is to a villainous victory speech, but other than that it was great. Hopefully teachers immediately arrive on scene to reinforce the necessity of the villains leaving now. Also worth noting that despite several villains losing their respective fights, there are no confirmed captures and those no real losses for the Villain Alliance.

She finally made an appearance in last week's chapter though.
She could definitely still be the source of the leaks, and probably is, but getting knocked out makes for a pretty good alibi… plus there's a villain who can make clones. :ninja:
-
Invisible girl appeared unconscious next to Navel laser guy last chapter (chapter 81).
Edit: Ninja'd.
-
Ooh good eye. Knocked out _with_ a gas mask though? Sussssspicious.
-
She was found by Momo, who was giving gas masks away. http://www.mangamint.com/boku-no-hero-academia-81?page=6
-
Think it's pretty safe to assume the Aoyama/Momo team stumbled across the unconscious Hagakure/Kyouka and put the masks on them.
-
"Facts" mean nothing in the face of true conspiracy theories!!!
-
At least they saved the one everyone loves.
-

A wasted oportunity of a good twist if you ask me.
Now how the hell I'm going to care if they try to brainwash Bakugou? Its not like we'll notice any difference in the first place.
-
Wait, belly button guy is unconscious? Who shot the laser this chapter then? Did just completely overlook something?
-

I don't remember him being unconscious. He was there and afraid. I think people were saying Invisible Girl was there and unconscious.

Oh, right. Thanks. Going back I see someone actually linked to the page… Oops :-/

Exactly. Was almost disappointed seeing Tokoyami standing there.
This was the same problem with Sasuke, they're POS so when they go inevitably bad it doesn't have meaning. I don't really care about them either way so all that emotion drawn out by other characters doesn't really have an impact.
Meanwhile, Tokoyami has, quite literally, an 'inner demon' he can't control but is basically a pretty good person and a cool guy. If he gets turned evil, its almost like a Hulk/Hyde sort of scenario and he unleashes the anger. Maybe its because his quirk is so easily controlled by light that it wouldn't be practical story-wise.
-
And the memes started
-
Chapter was pretty good. I still think the author has a bit of trouble juicing the arcs for all they're worth, and I don't mean Bleach style dragging, I mean spending a bit more time with the fights and the students' and villains' abilities. This villain assault had the potential to be more thrilling or to give us more out of the already existing students, but in the end it was over way too fast for it to be 100% satisfying.
Still, it was a pretty decent arc in the end. With very little, characters like Shouji and Laser Beam Guy managed to step up their game, and that last sentence by Bakugou was probably his single most heartfelt moment till now. Well, his ONLY heartfelt, none assholish moment till now, but that's something. It's also cool none of the villains except the one Deku fought are trully defeated, so they can reappear and have some 1 on 1's with the students.

You sure you aren't just adding in post Sasuke feelings of anger towards him to pre turn Sasuke?
I feel like people always focus on how Sakura and Sasuke turned out in the long run when talking about their pre-skip characters, when really their actually was a bond formed between the cell, and both of them did non dickish things along with things that would make the fans care for them in case anything happened to them.
Sasuke's character is more than just being a dick (though I believe the ball on him and Sakura was dropped massively, plummeted, free falled), calling child Sasuke just a piece of shit doesn't feel right to me.
Same for Bakugou, sure he's a foul mouthed bully with a superiority complex who's essentially attempted to murder Deku, but he's still endearing for me and there's a lot of vulnerability in him as we've seen at many points throughout the series, is funny, and is capable of treating people with respect such as Uraraka and has a wider range of emotions than just anger.
There's no law in storytelling that says a character has to be "likeable" in order for something like this to happen to them, some of my favorite characters I feel the most for like Bellamy or Theon from ASOIAF could just be chopped up as pieces of shit but that doesn't make me care for them less.
And considering that Bakugou is the third most popular character in the series as of last poll i'm sure a lot of people are going to care about this happening to him.
Sure, is Tokoyami being captured an interesting scenario/opportunity?
Yes.
But does that mean it's intrinsically moreso than Bakugou being captured? It has plenty of meaning imo.
Also I've always been of the opinion that Bakugou would never go villain, ever since I started the series and i've never waivered, but it's something that's been constantly brought up among fans and referenced in the series which means it needs to be addressed at some point.
And now that we have Bakugou's inspiration for being a hero/what he thinks a hero does, it's time that we see what keeps him from being with the other side or how he fairs under serious temptation so that he can go to the next level with his development, as well as confront Shigaraki with someone who he thinks would fit in with someone like him that actually stays in with the "good" side in order to throw a wrench in his ideology as long as we work under the premise that Bakugou will say no.
Also this works better for Deku's character and might lead to some cool stuff with Shigaraki. -
Bakugou has been more of a Vegeta than a Sasuke so far.
-
Yep, actually. Vegeta is another much better example to compare Bakugou with.
-
Yep, actually. Vegeta is another much better example to compare Bakugou with.
Good point. I keep forgetting how Vegeta went down his antagonistic path, and if you think about it, if AFO does end up manipulating Bakugou by tempting him with power along with the reveal of OFA, it does very much look like how Vegeta went down in Buu arc. But unfortunately, both cases have slight differences.
In Bakugou's case, his would stem from a preconceivedself-notion that he's super-special, inflating his ego. Whereas with Vegeta, it was matter of pride on his heritage. In Vegeta's case, you could sympathize with him somewhat, since Vegeta's attitude could stem from being ashamed of his failure to protect and defend his people and homeland. Whereas Goku has had better luck with that.
-
They are not the same, Vegeta was 100% pure villain at first. He became really popular and was made and addition to the main cast (and very toned down in his sociopathy) but that was clearly an afterthough by Toriyama.
I think Bakugou is simply a badly written character. The author tried so hard at making him violent and an antagonist to MC that he ended with a complete bastard of a kid without an ounce of heroic virtue.
The paralelism with Sasuke at this point is hilarious since both are the perfect examples of douchebag characters beyond redemption because their authors took their douchebaggery one step too far
