so,what's the right number of daughters? 3 or 32?
Chapter 812: Capone "Gang" Bege
-
-
Wait a sec…..
Is this tea party the same tea party that was mentioned before? I thought it already happened? So im assuming the explosion didn't happen yet? Well I guess I know how Sanji will escape lol. Im assuming Luffy will want to head to the tea party
-
Hm…. I think 35th is correct, since sandman said it to us, also in MP.
-
They just need to assemble the old translating gang that went off the grid after arrests. Then they will take back their place and send away these noobs who are translating now and who think they know stuff about OP and japanese.
Oh, it's not like they went too far anyway. Judging by recent chapters, it would seem a good chunk of their savory know-how landed at MS…
-
capone's power are the reason why i would have saw him well as a shichibukai..imagine his powers, but instead of men he can spits out pacifistas and it's wepaponized with vegapunk's weapons
-
pekoms down with a stupid shot… oda come on
-
Wow, MS is on another level of storytelling. When Mangapanda talked about an old stone on the elephant I thought they talked about a poneglyph. Now it's a fortress.
And all the confusing numbers.
Does Big Mom now have 3 or 35 children? 3 sounds like a realistic number though.
with 35 kids one is busy being pregnant for 35 years…....... -
Hm…. I think 35th is correct, since sandman said it to us, also in MP.
So Big Mom has at least 35 daughters or 34 sisters?
Too many characters.
-
Maybe it's going to take some time for them to get back in shape.
They just need to assemble the old translating gang that went off the grid after arrests. Then they will take back their place and send away these noobs who are translating now and who think they know stuff about OP and japanese.
Well since it's come up, I looked at their last page which shows the credits– they look the same as they did in other recent mangapanda-translated chapters (that "qc" credit still cracks me up... quality control in mangapanda)
There were a few other tip-offs too, but it looks like they really are returning.
And of course it's the very next chapter after I wrapped up the whole mangapanda abridged series, due to their long absence...
Well, I figured evil couldn't really be killed, but realistically, for them to keep doing all this stuff after the arrests (I think one of them got arrested twice or something?)-- they're playing with fire even for themselves now too -
pekoms down with a stupid shot… oda come on
if by stupid shot you mean a firing squad armed with miniguns,on the back,at point blank, with his guard down
-
Can anyone give me a break down on the "Sanji is Royalty" theories? What are some of the reason's people believe this is a possibility?
-
What if the Vinsmoke's run the biggest Cigarette conglomerate in the OP world and their brand of Smokes is used by The Marines and Pirates alike and that's why the name is so well known in those circles? The way the name just rolled off Bege's tongue and Sanji's reaction seemed like it's a commonly known name. Either they're an Infamous Mafia Family or a Corporate Empire. Plus this whole third son thing just screams who will run the "Family Business" angst.
I'm kinda worried how Oda is casually mentioning Luffy's beef with BM and him claiming FI as his future territory , now we have confirmation the Tea Party hasn't happened yet. Makes me wonder how Jinbe will factor into all of this, and if he'll even join the crew anytime soon since this is quote end quote, Sanji's year. But how can Oda just ignore all he set up in putting off Jinbe joining the crew specifically because of Big Mom? Would certainly be anti climactic if it's a case of "Oh that guy's gone now, he went to some other place, to do something else that's also preventing him from joining your crew for awhile…"
Then again, I always saw Water 7 and Enies Lobby as huge for the development of Ussop , despite Franky and Robin being at the center of the conflict so maybe Oda is killing two birds with one stone here….But with how he's been flip flopping the crew's focus between Kaido and Big Mom lately leaves me with doubts everything will be as it seems with Jinbe part of this.
Speaking of which, where do they go from here? Jack might be back at any minute , but with how he's set up Sanji and his conflict with Big Mom doesn't it sound like something that needs immediate attention? I don't think we've ever had an arc where the immediate threat was elsewhere to begin with, maybe aside from like Wapol in Drum Island. Yet Sanji being involved in a whole other conflict with another entity entirely is what makes this unique, so do they stay on Zou for the time being or stop Sanji's wedding? Guess we'll see.
I think Bege is an interesting Pirate, more akin to the Pirates we saw in the first half of the story , legit out for himself and his for selfish reasons, but he seems loyal to BM's agenda. It's refreshing but I can't help but wonder if he'll become a third cog in the Straw-Heart Alliance when it's all said and done.
-
And Luffy's crew being taken by them is so stupid. B/c SHs have only 8 members besides luffy. And each one should be able to eventually match a captain of yonkou. And after 2 years of training, they should be characters that aren't bothered to be named, even out numbered. These are the crews of a subordinate of big mam, no crew mates of big mam herself. It just makes no sense to me for anyone to be taken easily.
Do you think everyone in the world of One Piece just took a two year break to put their feet up or hibernate until the Strawhats returned? Each of the Supernovas/Worst Generation has been progressing and making moves, the only ones that you could say are sitting still (and not progressing/getting stronger) are the Yonko but they are at the top. Nearly everyone else is constantly making moves and getting stronger, not just the Strawhat crew.
You can't think that just because they took two years off to train the whole world stood still
-
After all of this, I understand less why they had a party. Seems like Sanji went with Capone and could be in trouble with big mom, and he is captured, unlike what Luffy said.
Again, why didn't Luffy and co go after him?
-
Also, as it related to Capone's ability, Chopper and Nami alluded to the fact that they were moving forward "as if being compelled by an 'order'". Capone rightfully said he's a Castle man, could that also come with some form of "King's command" ability once someone is within range which would compelled whom ever he wants to command to get in his castle belly? Or wthat some kind of translation error?
-
Pekom is filled with emotions, so his CoO must be weakened.
And also the one shot him is his allied, who can even expect that?
WB got stabbed, Marco got shackled, Jozu got frozen. -
@uniaka:

well,if anything he is going to be married with someone..that alone means he is not in any trouble for his health
but i do admit that if he really was took by big mom..nami and the others should have told the whole thing way earlier -
Real props to Oda for once again building up the legitimacy of The Minks as the strong native population that we've rarely seen in One Piece.
First the two leaders match Jack for day after day and now a member of the worst generation and the subordinate of a yonko, a man who is essentially a walking army, prefers to take no chances in getting into a scuffle with them.
Really good hype.
-
Does anyone have a theory on what is going on here?
!
Is there something I missed? It seems as though Capone has turned himself into liquid or something.
-
You keep telling everyone they can't predict things. Everything including the marriage was predicted by others a year ago and it was also posted all over the one piece reddit every week and on these forums.
Oh, really? I'd love to see the posts that detail things exactly as they are happening.
But you told others there was no way they knew that was going to happen. Everyone saw the defeat coming, everyone knew Oda was going to have him be captured. They went down without a fight when facing fodder level opponents.
The word fodder is really terrible, and people need to stop using it to describe anybody they think is weak. You have no idea how strong Bege's crewmates actually are. Nevertheless, once again, they didn't fight because of the minks being there. There were way too many risks involved in trying to fight in front of the Minks; that much is clear as day in the chapter.
Capone didnt even do anything and he actually killed a powerful ally…
Pekoms isn't dead. I hope you don't really believe this.
Once again, how is Capone weak though? You have no basis for this, besides wild speculation.
Many people predicted the Sanji Royalty thing almost a year ago. Everyone knew Oda would try to pull something like that after his screwup.
The royalty theories have always circulated because of his "Mr. Prince" persona. Nobody was really serious about it until Oda outright stated something would be revealed about his past at Jump Festa. The earliest they began to appear more and more was when "Only Alive" was revealed.
The best case scenario is that we get a filler powerup arc. This arc is nothing but desperation from Oda because he knows he screwed up. Sanji being nobility does nothing but further guarantee he will be separated from the crew for another 1 to 2 years and get his own separate filler arc.
Once again you're misusing terms, as there is no such thing as a "filler arc" in a manga. The backstory of a main character being seriously expanded, and a member of the Yonkou becoming personally involved does not constitute filler. Not to mention all the other potential storylines that will be expanded in the entirety of the saga. It's filler to you because you don't want to see it, but that doesn't mean it isn't important to the story.
Its not like he is going to fight someone strong, he can't even handle Vice Admirals, supernovae subordinates, supernovae, or anyone strong.
This really has no basis. Vice Admirals are not a power level ranking, as each one is different in strength. Vergo was in reality a highly ranked member of Doflamingo's crew. He didn't fight the subordinates or Bege in this chapter because of the Minks. Again, that is pretty much clear as day.
And also, there's no reason to think that it isn't finally time for Sanji to shine against a true opponent after the timeskip. You're letting pessimistic thoughts cloud your judgement before the storyline even finishes. Complain after, not prematurely.
Oda is basically going to pull a "hey look guys Sanji is important now and he has influence on world events because he is nobility! This totally makes up for him and the others being forgotten about". Hes going to have some impact on the reverie. Pretty predictable. Everything else will just be filler.
Except that probably isn't how it will go down at all. Nor will any of it be filler, as a Yonkou will be personally involved, multiple storylines will move forward, and the backstory of one of the main characters will be vastly expanded. Nothing is going to be as clear and dry as you assume; it'll be pure chaos all around.
Meanwhile the fans will be like "Hey Oda, you realize we were complaining about Sanji being separated from the crew right? You just guaranteed he will be separated for the next year or 2. Why would you do that?"
Does separation really matter as long as he has a vast amount of screentime? Even so, there's no way the other Straw Hats aren't going to go after him at some point. The question isn't "if", it's "when".
Im in this story for the long haul. 1 or 2 years isnt that long in the grand scheme of things. Ill just take this filler marriage arc and just complain once or twice a week about it and wait for something cool and exciting to happen and really get back into the manga when it does. Im just being honest. This arc was the exact opposite of what I wanted and we all saw it coming from a mile away. Its not even shocking or unexpected.
And you're likely to be called out each time for it. Things just aren't going exactly the way you want them to, which is fine to be a little mad about. But you're making a huge deal over almost everything before it even begins to be fleshed out accordingly.

Does anyone have a theory on what is going on here?

That's just how he materializes in his own body probably.

Again, why didn't Luffy and co go after him?
According to 811, Sanji's letter left Luffy with a wrong notion of how serious was the situation.
My guess is that Sanji left happily with heart eyes thinking he was going to marry a really beautiful girl while at the same time keeping Zou and the other SH safe from Capone, so his letter seemed like everything was fine.
I can already see it:
"Luffy, Robin-chan and the ones I don't care about, how are you? I hope everything is fine.
Here I am about to have the time of my life. I'm going to sacrifice my freedom for this beautiful maiden's happiness. I hope Robin-chan can forgive me, I'll soon be back to you all with the woman of my life. Luffy, do you know how happiness tastes? Like sweets.Love,
Sanji"EDIT: OMG, what if Sanji does get married and Pudding becomes the next SH by force? Ok, no.
-

Couldn't have said it better. You'd think people would stop understimating non-Strawhats after seeing Law's feats in Punk Hazard and Dressrosa. It's almost criminal to dismiss that even old-timers like Moria and Crocodile have gotten stronger as well over the timeskip.
-
-Why is everybody so shocked that the Swirlyhats "lost" against Bege's crew? Nami and Chopper were taken by surprise and held at gunpoint. I guess both of them could have offered a match against those guys, but people seem to be ignoring the surprise factor. And after they were already caught, there was nothing Sanji could do. It would endanger their lives.
-The same applies to Pekoms. What happened does not prove he's way weaker than Bege… he was taken by surprise. From behind, I might add.
-Why does everybody here call him Capone? I know it's not wrong, but he's probably the only character in the series the fans refer to by the surname. By the way, I started liking this guy a lot after this chapter!
-Sanji's bride-to-be is probably the ugliest woman in the whole world.

Wow. I never seen such a big pile of crap in a single post since Super Sonic. No wonder you wander around Reddit in the first place. Do you even realize how Capone's DF even works anyway? It all around based on his crew's military mighty. You really think a guy who picks up feud with someone like Zoro in a daily basis gonna become a Yamcha like character? You think this nobility thing of Sanji is just to make up because you think he is weak and have to be important for some reason? And when anyone mentions Mink you says its irrelevant and the outcome would be the same? Not sorry to say this, but I what kind of private of private version of OP you are reading? I don't think we are reading the same work.

@Galaxy:
That's just how he materializes in his own body probably.
Oh! I feel stupid now. I didn't even consider that Sanji would be "inside" Capone during that scene. Thanks for explaining.

Maybe Capone showed him a picture and it's actually a fine lady (to put it politely)?
Don't know why else he'd be optimistic about it.
Well, guess Wano and Kaido are on hold as of now.
-
I wasn't sure what to think of them falling into Bege's trap so easily…waaaaay too easy going again. Nami should have stayed put or taken some Minks with her. And when they got surrounded Sanji did the right thing I guess.

!
So who knows?Anyway, after this well deserved break from his antics (with FI, I had my fill of Sanji's fawning for a long time), I admit I loved to him go all Sanji mode with the minks, so maybe that's why I am hoping his absence will also have some of it.

I don't think you know what "filler" means. Even is Sanji does end up having an arc all for himself, it will be an arc of big consequences to the rest of the series. Of that we can be goddamn sure.
-

Hated Nami and Chopper at that moment.
But Pekoms WAS shot and Chopper IS a doctor. And maybe Nami thought she could confuse Capone with her appearance and make him forget about everything else? Dunno…
-
Big Mom probably postponed the teaparty the second she heard one of her enemies (Sanji) is a Royal, and instantly ordered to get him.
So the next big baddy indeed is Big Mom. -

Heh, could be.
As for antics, I started panicking a little when I saw the blood coming out of his nose. Glad that didn't last long.
-
I'm guessing Pudding is the three-eyed woman we saw before. She probably doesn't want the marriage either.
The Vinsmoke family is probably a mafia family. I would they'd have connections inside the navy to get Sanji the "Only Alive" poster. I also don't think they'd be for him marrying Big Mom's daughter otherwise.
The tea party was originally supposed to be a few days ago, wasn't it? Sanji mentions Luffy defeating Doflamingo. Maybe she pushed the date when she (Or the Vinsmoke family) discovered Sanji.
@Helter:
-Why does everybody here call him Capone? I know it's not wrong, but he's probably the only character in the series the fans refer to by the surname. By the way, I started liking this guy a lot after this chapter!
Probably because the name Capone is already known from outside of One Piece.

This seems pretty plausible, but knowing him the whole letter would have been just him saying stuff about love, with the P.S. having all the important details.
That's even better, I guess.
I demand to read this letter already!
-
I don't think Sanji was excited to go. He made a deal to have Capone let Nami, Chopper and Brook free, so he was still thinking clearly.
-
Ok Theory no.2…...........Purin-purin chanm drawn by Oda himself!
This is the princess, you heard it hear first!! -
Can anyone give me a break down on the "Sanji is Royalty" theories? What are some of the reason's people believe this is a possibility?
This is the theories I came across I really disagree with it but I'll just give you the jest of it.
I.) Sanji has made references to being royalty before such as : Mr.Prince (Alabasta arc to crocodile), They way he treats women <– Some peoples views, Zoro's reference in the Groggy Ring arc ("Prince of Dumbass Kingdom ")
II.)First Bounty was a Sketched drawing which some believe to hide his face from the world( Which isn't true since the photographer left the cap on)
III.) Now his ' Only Alive ' Bounty is also adding fuel to the theory
IV.) Also Sanji not talking too much about his past only when Norland came up he mentioned he is from North Blue
V.) And lastly his rare blood typeI'm sure there's more but this was everything I found on the web.
-
Big Mom probably postponed the teaparty the second she heard one of her enemies (Sanji) is a Royal, and instantly ordered to get him.
So the next big baddy indeed is Big Mom.It could be any other kind of influential family. Since it coincides with the discovery of the wanted poster, I guess Big Mom wants some kind of an alliance with Sanji's family. It could be a royal family, a crime family, a family owning some kind of a trade or possesing some kind of a secret. Influential in some important way, at the least.
WG wants Sanji alive and most likely as a bargain chip for something. If his family is so important, it's going to be a huge plot point.
-
Wowowow, I sriously didn't expect that many interesting things in this chapter!!!
So, I still don't get if this is gonna be a "Sanji rescue arc" of some kind… -
How would Sanji feel about his family that arranged a wedding for him since he left his family when he was kid?
And likely his brain was still active enoug to know that a mother in law that is a yonkou is not good.
-
I think the arranged marriage is one of the reasons he left his family.
-
Wowowow, I sriously didn't expect that many interesting things in this chapter!!!
So, I still don't get if this is gonna be a "Sanji rescue arc" of some kind…I guess it all depends on what he said when he left and what he wrote on his letter. If it was more like a kidnap situation, then we might need a rescue arc. But maybe he left because he wanted to… maybe he has a plan...
-
@Helter:

Yeah, that would be interesting to know…however knowing how Luffy tends to react in these situations, he might get after him no matter what. We'll see. It's interesting to notice these overlapping situations with Kaido on one side and BigMom on the other...
-
FINALLY this arc gets exciting!! :D
I really hope the straw-hats storm the wedding, that would be fantastic. It's seems really obvious that the bride will be ugly (classic Oda), I hope that isn't the case, a beautiful bride for Sanji would make a better plot.
-
OK serious question. Who in their right mind would be willing to have sex with hideous giant creature like Big Mom? Unless Big Mom was actually as cute as Sanji's imagination.
-
Hated Nami and Chopper at that moment.
But Pekoms WAS shot and Chopper IS a doctor. And maybe Nami thought she could confuse Capone with her appearance and make him forget about everything else? Dunno…
But they shouldn't even have been aware of Pekoms being shot, they were a bit further away from the location with the balcony. Otherwise there'd be more minks around. Too careless. Well anyway, things got resolved well enough, so Sanji negotiations did bear fruits.
-
Glad we're finally gonna get some fleshing out for Sanji! I just hope his supposed fiancée isn't going to be "ugly", thus creating a year of "sanji doesnt want to marry ugly women lol women that aren't cookie-cutter oda women are gross omg" jokes.
-
Great ep; Pekoms is almost an ally, Bege goes from being 'the other Supernova' (guess that's Urouge now) to being a real threat and a huge development on the Big Mom front.
As for the wedding, do we know it's arranged? Having a recognizable wanted poster out now Big Mom might be trying a power play to force the wedding on a powerful family that has refused previous alliances.
Given the nature of OP it might be just as likely that Pudding is a favoured child and fallen for Sanji from his poster and Mom has just done her research after that. Leaning towards that sort of thing myself as Sanji still doesn't truly resemble his poster and Oda would be able to pull one last twist/ joke out of it if Pudding rejects him when she sees the real thing (I might be being cocky because my 3rd son prediction looks like it's a fact, fun when that happens). -
But they shouldn't even have been aware of Pekoms being shot, they were a bit further away from the location with the balcony. Otherwise there'd be more minks around. Too careless. Well anyway, things got resolved well enough, so Sanji negotiations did bear fruits.
Sanji didn't negotiate shit. If there was a wooden post with his picture where he was standing, things would have ended up the same. Sanji's negotiating skills remain to be seen in the following chapter, where he manages to keep the rest of the crew out of harms way. I hope.
