Jack is hype?
Nekomamushi seems like a beast.
Jack is hype, not huge hype but give it time. I personally can't wait to see more of him.

I'm not sure but I'll go with no. Pedro's silhouette showed him missing a piece of his left ear. Both felines seem to have all their ears intact.
Pedro could have lose part of his ear during the fight?
So I'm guessing Jack is from Wano and that's why his human design has been hidden thus far. He has some personal business with the samurai.
Also it seems that Samurai and Wano were taboo words before Jack's arrival
Where's that implied?
After Wanda's flashback in the last chapter Brooke explicitly says that Jack's rampage is the reason why the words samurai and wano bring pain to the minks.
Seven chapters in, we have yet to see this arc plotline and character development. Have yet to see Zou's far back history and it's role during the Void Century. This arc however at this point is avoiding having multi-plotlines like Dressrosa. Anyway this chapter is pretty nice.
Considering how beaten up and wounded they are, that would be kinda cruel.
do you see jack coming back? or it going to be someone random. I don't see oda making this about anything other than kaido crew, whatever is going on with sanji, and probably Wano/the revelation about the samurais, in this arc.
My theory is we hear what's happened in the next few chapters, move around the island for a bit -> find the ninja -> Zou moves to where jack/kaido people are -> another enemey attack -> SHs defend the island, earns respect (back after revelation that they're with samurai) of the minks enough to forgive the ninja -> beat enemy with Inu and Neko making up. Maybe they're moving towards wano which will open to the next arc which will be in wano.
This feels like a Little Garden arc, meaning a shorter one, interlude for the main course: Wano.
edit: it seems like momo's DF wasn't a failure when compared to the smile users. I wonder if that's why they want him (or is it connected to Wano for some reason).
Pedro could have lose part of his ear during the fight?
Not sure if that has been done before in One Piece. If this was the distant past, yeah, but couple weeks back…not so sure about. It is one of the only few things you can see.
Pedro and the Tiger Minkmen's hair look different in comparison.
Pedro ears are round while the Leopard? Minkmen's ears are pointy.
This whole French musketeer theme seems to be throwing off my Mesoamerica guess and that Pedro is a reverse colored Panther Jaguar Minkmen with Aztec attire/appearance.
So with the individual that turned their hand into a wolf, it seems to be an ability that Kaidou's men have. Presumably, Sheepshead's fist turned into a sheep, it's just Oda purposely blocked the head so that it couldn't be seen in chapter 795 (though that hurt the choreography personally even if the intent was to hide the reveal).
I wonder if it's just a subset of SMILEs that have that ability, if all SMILEs have that ability, or if it's just an ability all zoans actually are capable of. Because I think the assumption was that Momo ate a SMILE and not a real Devil Fruit, but he doesn't seem to be transforming in that manner at all.
On a slightly related topic, those warriors that seem to have Zoan like ability have been doing partial transformations, something that I've only seen from Marco, so maybe partial transformations is just something that's known in the new world.
Fairly cool chapter. Having Robin/Franky/Brook on the color spread with Luffy was a nice of pace.
Looks like Dogstorm and Catviper have a rich history. I wonder how much of that is going to be explored. They apparently sailed the seas and met Shanks, and it's still rather early to really determine whether their backstory needs to be explored to tell the story more than what's already been said.
Regardless, even if Jack's bounty is inflated due to his destructive nature, I have to assume Oda's showing that the Mink Tribe and specifically Dogstorm/Catviper are very strong warriors, with the leaders probably at or slightly below the league of the best of the best in the seas right now, though maybe I'm speaking too much right now. It'll be interesting to see if the Mink Tribe will take part in any of the future battles ahead, whether it be against Kaidou or during the Final Battle at the end of the series. They all seem like very strong allies to have.
Dogviper confirms that the electricity powers can be transferred via weaponry (something McGuy, the New World Pirate was shown doing).
Finally, Catviper has that scar over his left eye. Robby's comments in the crewmate thread about scars has me wondering if we'll see the history behind how Catviper got that scar, or if we'll see Catviper pre-scar in the series. Not saying he's crewmate material due to the scar.
I think Pedro is the big cat next to the deer.
Bounties are just reflecting the dangerous level the person is not the worth and power.
Good chapter,i am glad to see minks are not portrayed as victims, they fought back with all their might so there is no regret!
Btw thw fact we have often hiatus is probably because of the upcoming movie so i don't mind.
Cannot wait to know more about the minks, this arc might not be long but there will be revelations, too bad inuarashi fell asleep lol
You people do realise that if turning limbs into animals is a power any zoan is capable of, that means Chopper could grow a human out of his hand, right? Disturbing. And Sengoku would look weird, too.
Oh dear lord. That elephant form is the least threatening thing i ever saw.
He looks adorable
HOLY FUCK! 1 BILLION? damn, son… Then Yonkos must be at least around 1.5~2 Billions or even 3! and Dragon at least 5+ Billions(the price of the ope ope no mi) since he's the most wanted.. damn.
I wonder how much Roger's was when he was still alive? Rayleigh must be at least 2 billions.
@Long:
I think Pedro is the big cat next to the deer.
Yeah I wanted it to be the tiger but look at the silhouette the hair and the teeth fit the Leopard guy more than the Tiger guy.
Thanks for the update EvoWarrior5
Meh that was…okay. I'm going to guess the 1 billion part is am exaggeration in some way. The fact there's no info box and is instead being stated makes me think it might not be true.

Then why bring it up?
great chapter!the cover spread was simply awesome.damn luffy and brook look too damn cool!
and the chapter was pretty great too.it was great how inurashi was going to talk about shanks, but suddenly fell asleep.a good troll by oda:ninja:. he seems to be quite old,and seems to know about the outside world because of his sailing days.so it seems they are not too much isolated from the outside on zou.
and enel only knows where zoro wandered off to.
musketeers were quite cool too.it's nice that there is a design difference between guardians and musketeers.musketeers seem more human like(at least in style),and guardians are more like wild animals.i had thought this would be the case, but then doubted that maybe it was just the difference between males and females.good to see the former was the case
also,1 billion?i really don't know what to say to this bounty.i had assumed this level of bounty would be reserved for yonkos and dragon,so this sure is weird.
anyway,i am a bit sceptical of the bounty.
all in all,a good chapter.i think the pace is perfect,at least for now.not too fast, not too slow.since this is going to be less packed and more focused than dressrosa.but the opening was good in punk hazard too,but the the middle was really terrible, with all the running, fake tension.
hope this arc stays great like this
@Mr.:
Seems intentional because the Japanese catch-all for liquor is sake, so Oda must have figured it should translate to liquor.
When I said literal translation I was more-so referring to the translation of no to of. (Although Liquor is also a literal translation.) A better translation would've been "Binks' Liquor". However, Oda has said before that he doesn't know English that well, so what's to expect.
Wait a minute… If there's no chapter next week, and winter break is drawing near, how long do we have to wait for the next chapter?
Sorry if asked already...
Thanks in advance!
Dat wolf Guardian looks so retarded, i love him. :)

Taking a glance at last year's schedule, we're likely to have one more normal chapter, then a chapter that'll be a wild card between Christmas and a few days after New Years, and then back to normal in the middle of January.
The schedule around this time of year is never set in stone though.

You'd think that with winter break drawing near, Oda would hold up on breaks until that time comes…
Really love the way jack is being built up. This guy follows orders from kaido????
@joekido:
Seven chapters in, we have yet to see this arc plotline and character development.
Are we reading the same story? There's been a ton of character development up front, and a whole bunch of arc bits are being set up. Plus exploring the island and setting up places that will be visited and shown later in the arc.
I liked the chapter. Good to see a humongous bounty doesn't set Jack apart from everyone, as if it's his "power level" or something. His full mammoth form is probably the weakest when it comes to hand to hand combat, though. Let's be real. He's big and slow, and that trunk is a vulnerable part.
Wasn't really a fan of Duke falling asleep just as he dropped Shanks' name. It's one of the most annoying literary devices to me. Like, I'd be jumping on him straight away yelling at him to "finish the fucking story"!
!
But all in due time, I guess. It's not like we'll never get to the bottom of it. Maybe when these 2 rulers make amends at the end of this arc, and get friendly again. New SH allies incoming!
Love those minks. The fox musketeer looks funny to me for some reason, and I noticed one of the guardians looks like zombie Sanji.
Anyone think that the reason for Jack to try and find the samurai is to find somebody that can finally beat his captain?
I had a smile on my face this whole chapter, that's how much I enjoyed it the whole way through.
So looks like we will indeed be getting flashbacks between the present stuff. We learn about certain aspects then get a flashback to get an idea about certain elements. If Oda does this right, this will be an interesting way to read the arc.
Zoro left and now the crew is going to look for him. This means that they will be fighting off some Minks. Looks like we have more of the opposites going on, as day time the minks don't mind guests and will try to reason, while the night time minks ask no questions and don't like guests. I'm guessing it's the night time minks that got the story of how minks "hated" humans.
Color spread was awesome, especially the design of Brook. Nice to see some of the later Straw Hats get some attention.
We get a hint about Shanks, and then we are cock blocked on it. I'm willing to wait on learning more about it, but we better see some more of Shanks after this arc if his name was dropped. This would mean we've had an arc where each Yonko is mentioned, shown, and seen a higher up of the crew (not necessarily all shown in one single arc).
In the end, I'm intrigued by this arc and I'm already putting it high on my arc lists just with how it's been going down.
I love the flashback so far, but the break is not timed very well this time. I really hoped that we will get a chapter next week!
Booze, smokes, and firearms, and Brooks holding the groove. As many great color spreads as there have been over the years, can somebody please point out a better one for me?
Anyone think that the reason for Jack to try and find the samurai is to find somebody that can finally beat his captain?
I doubt. I think that Kinemon and momo are important to wano and we don't exactly know the relationship between the samurai an kaido pirates.
That was a good chapter but its break next week
Wait a minute, Robin smokes?
The name of the record Brook is holding in the color-spread is, "Binks of Liquor"
Awesome.

I think Sheephead's fist was just a horn. You can see it clearly in this chapter, and there's another guy with a lobster claw. My guess is they use the most dangerous part of an animal (wolf = fangs, lobster = claw, etc.)
Sorry If I am going off track here but can we just stop for a moment and appreciate this series and how cool it is. It just never fails to amaze me.
Well that really threw the whole idea of bounties i had right out the window. 1 of the top guys working for Kaido having a billion bounty on him. Makes me wonder if any of Whitebeard's guys like Marco for example had a bounty near that level, i certainly would hope so given its WB's crew.
OMG I love Nekomamushi as of now. Really good chapter and this artificial devil fruit abilities are not quite what I expected which is a really nice surprise. Transform only parts of the body? well at least now there are some characteristics that put them apart from the real ones. or so I hope.
wow this Mink tribe is awesome.
I'm all for Oda taking breaks to have time with his family and all, but i'm really worried at how the anime wil handle this

Filler arc in between Dressrosa and Zo?
Filler arc in between Dressrosa and Zo?
That'd be the best scenario. They've got the time spent on Dressrosa after Doflamingo's defeat that we saw a fraction of for potential filler, and the timegap after Dressrosa that was pretty much handed to them on a silver platter. Then again, so was the timegap after Thriller Bark, and all they decided to do then was a 4 episode filler arc.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to handle it like they have for the past few years of Oda's increased breaks (less than 1 chapter pacing with filler embedded into the episode).
At the very least, a 4 episode or so filler arc for the upcoming movie is probably a given. They've done it for the past two big films, so it's a good bet.
Oda! Where is Blackleg SANJII!!!! >.<"
Glenn is alive and so Is Jon Snow….
At this point I feel like I could almost copy-paste my chapter response on a weekly basis:
Boy, I'm really looking forward to this whole thing getting started.
Don't get me wrong, theres already been a flood of new characters introduced. We've been shown a good deal of the mechanics of Mink Culture. We've gotten a big info-dump on Kaidos crew, smiles, and all that jazz.
But this has pretty much just all been told to us up front, or in the earliest extended flashback sequence I can remember in the entire manga. Once the crew had climbed the elephant there was an extremely brief scuffle with the minks, then they got transported to the fortress, and they've been briefed ever since. And theres little hint what Luffy and the others are gonna do, once the talking is over. From the perspective of the Straw Hats the arc has no momentum, no forward thrust. To use my analogy from last week, its like arriving at a new video game Hub, and walking through half an hour of lore and cutscenes, waiting to not only start your quest, but to get your quest.
This is all a matter of personal preference, but after the monolith that was Dressrosa I was looking forward to some more straightforward, simple adventuring from the crew, and a nation on the back of a giant elephant got me really excited. But then Law instantly declares that this is the island of minks, robbing their reveal of any surprise. Again this is personal preference, but I like the exposition, character introductions and reveals are doled out gradually as a result of exploration or progression towards a goal, or at least explained alongside some more active developments.
At this point after arriving In Drumm, Dalton had been downed in Wapols invasion, and Luffy was mountain climbing with two incapacitated crewmates.
We'd had the entire sequence with Ace, were trekking through a desert, and only now gradually learning about the rebels and civil war.
We'd taken a wild lobster ride from the white-sea encounter with Wiper and Gan Fall to Angel beach, whereupon we'd learnt about dials, half the crew had been abducted to upper yard, and Gods Justice had been introduced.
Merry had been pronounced dead, Robin had dissapeared, and the crew was marching on Franky house.
Law had dueled Smoker, the crew had been separated and mind-swapped, were in the process of rescuiing some kids and a samurai, and and almost everything was a total mystery.
Dressrosa had a laundry list of objectives for the crew going in, and still found the time to launch Luffy into a surprise Coliseum tournament.
Etc.
What I'm saying is I just really want the crew to start doing something.
I believed that Jack would be the most suitable antagonist for this arc, given the mess he created in the island.
However, now that we know that he possesses such an outrageous bounty, double next to the main protagonist's one, which was earned a few chapters ago and is also a huge one,i feel that maybe Oda saves Jack for later.

Toei would do both things anyway.
this joke was brought you from 2009
It seems Nekomamushi's distinct speech pattern (Tosa dialect) is missing in their translations… Considering the dialect and his line "the man who awaits the dawn of this world", Nekomamushi is probably based on Ryoma Sakamoto, one of the most famous patriots in Japan.
For reference, below are some characters who have distinct speech patterns.
Akainu: Hiroshima dialect
Hiroshima was famous for yakuzas several decades ago. According to Oda, Akainu is based on Bunta Sugawara, who starred in many yakuza film.
Bartolomeo: North Kanto/Tohoku/Hokkaido dialect
Considering his vulgar behavior, he is probably based on the famous bad boys who live in North Kanto district.
Kaku: Old man speech style
Duval: (Probably) Tohoku dialect
Tontatta: lisping

Yeah, from the perspective of what the Straw Hats are going to do I can see this direction of the arc being a let down. But the conflict/drama likely won't get started until Kinemon/Kanjurou arrive, and that's presumably when the plot will start rolling (though given the momentum we might just be given another set of exposition dump from the Samurai's perspective instead of there being any active action going on).
But honestly, given how the last few arcs have been kinda scatterbrained, had plot ADHD, and everything seemed rather manic/tense, I kinda like the focus given to the tribe and the mellow attitude the arc is giving at the moment. And you gotta admit fleshing out the island via flashback so early on like this is rather unique for One Piece, so you could argue Oda's still experimenting and we're not just following what some have tried to simplify as "going through the motions".
Is it just me or does jack look like the edward weeble guy…
4kids gave oda emotional scars. Lollipops :ninja:
With the last number of arcs and this one, I think Oda is trying to build the world more before going back to the Straw Hats having more focus. Grandline was personal adventures where the Straw Hats for the most part had stakes in it, just a matter of what the stakes were. In that case it worked well because you had personal moments to there was some more emotional impact.
New World has been building all these plot points that the Straw Hats will be a part of, but it also shows that the Straw Hats aren't at the point where they effect everything that happens. Luffy taking out Doflamingo had a large effect, but even then events happen without the Straw Hats being at the forefront. Oda is introducing all these things to set up the crazy events that will be happening soon (Reverie, Wars, Clash of crews, etc.). With this, I feel that we still have a number of world building Oda is doing before we get back to the Straw Hats being at the forefront of things
In some ways that means we don't get those emotional moments like the grand line stuff. We are more concentrated on characters that were just introduced and what they had to go through, so we don't have as much reason to care. On the other hand for me personally, it's nice to get some stuff where the Straw Hats aren't the main focus. Seeing more of the world and having these set ups I find really cool. It's a trade off because if Oda was to do both, I feel things would be much longer.
In the end, I think those like Daz are going to be disappointed for a while until we get a bit further along into the New World. For me, I think I will be loving the stuff just for different reasons.
@le:
Is it just me or does jack look like the edward weeble guy…
I don't really see it. Jack has a metal jaw on his face and a pointy nose (while Weevil's is pudgy). Plus their mannerisms are completely different.
