Chopper's parents hated him. How sad.
Chapter 801: Opening Declaration
-
-
Called it 15 pages ago, more or less.
Called a mancrush from Tenryuubito too, because it's Sanji we're talking about, after all. :ninja:
Sure an okama celestial dragon wanting Sanji to cook for him/her would be character development.
-
@uniaka:
Hope Oda finished the okama jokes with Sanji. He had enough hell for 2 years with it. Would kinda suck if it turns out he's the prince of Okama Kingdom or something.
I agree, but mainly on the principle that an okama joke would be too easy, too expected at this point. Don't get me wrong, there could be a joke behind it. Just not the okama type that we've come to expect.
However, the noble theory is a strong one. How Sanji got to be the gentlemanly & rigidly chivalrous man grew up to be has been kind of left in the air. It's assumed that, along with his picking up smoking, they were ingrained character habits Sanji followed to prove to Zeff how much of a man he was, but there could easily be more behind it.
The downside is that this sort of twist was already done with Sabo during their lengthy flashback, however this would nonetheless have more of an impact given how deeply established his character has been for well over a decade.
It could also be that his heroic actions in aiding the G5 marines in Punk Hazard earned him a reprieve from a potential death sentence, but it's questionable that G5 would have enough pull to actually affect a wanted rating on such a notorious crewmember.
-
His power is he starts to use his hands :ninja:
okama kenpo and also secret zeff technique. calling it now. I think zeff was bigger deal than previously let on and i for sure think sanji is holding back on stuff from his training b/c he hates okamas.
of course there's also the possibility that jack is successfull through some devil fruit shenanigans
I was going to say DF is most likely. There is no way oda would make a former fleet admiral and current admiral seem so week. Not to mention tsuru is still a force even in her old age. I say he's strong enough to hold his own for a bit OR his def circumvents fighting, before they sneak away with doflamingo.
-
My theory: Sanji helped a woman who is very influential in the government, possibly saved her life. She used her influence to change his wanted poster to only alive, and possibly kept his bounty from rising even more.
Yeah, I really want to believe Sanji did something really awesome. -
@uniaka:
Well, if that is a like a cape and not hair, it looked to me like a sword( white line) but if it's hair then maybe he has horns or just has long teeth like boars.
hmm maybe he has a ''boar theme'' with that spiked hair and boar tooth. calling it, 7 warlord has a boar theme!
That or he's like one of these masks
! https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/d9/cc/ee/d9cceeb6f2d2e0081a0b614048ae1b8a.jpg
Well, it could be anything now.
Some of the things I could think of: nose, tengu nose, mustache (like WB's only thinner), weaponized mask or glasses, antenna (…), head decoration, really solid eyebrow, part of a weapon hung on his back...
The way his head is positioned, it's hard to see if that thing comes out on the other side symmetrically.
Then again, his design could change with time, just like it happened with Kanjuro, who had 2 changes.
From this:
!
and this (same panel as above but head was changed in volume release):
!
to this:
!
I hope he's more determined about 7th Shichi's appearance. He certainly had enough time to think about it.
-
He TRIED to give up piracy … but Usopp & Luffy ended his plan. At the end of that fight, Luffy threw Kuro to the Kuro Pirates and they ran off. Don't forget part of his plan of retiring in a small out of the way place was for Jango to hypnotize the local rich girl so she would write a will to make Kuro inherit all her money and big house. Jango got left behind, then joined the marines so won't be able to help another plan. So Kuro really had no choice but to return to Piracy.
Ah, I didn't remember he was thrown back to his crew. Hopefully he gets brought back for something if just a small cameo. I'd like to see what's going on with some of the East Blue villains we haven't seen in a while; like Axe-hand Morgan or Don Kreig.
-
okama kenpo and also secret zeff technique. calling it now.
Except Sanji refused to learn the okama kenpo, i can't believe how easily people forget that. That was the whole reason Ivankov gave him the 99 masters' challenge to begin, as an alternative. He spent two years running and beating them, not learning their style.
Besides, there would be no reason for him to use as a "power up" a style that he completely defeated.
-
I have this feeling that most or half of the strawhats bounties will go up again soon, like after next arc or something while half won't.ex: Luffy won't be getting another bounty increase anytime soon.
-

I'm expecting it to go up when something really big happens again, which is probably going to be them beating a Yonko.

He would be a real numbskull if he wasn't able to copy and implement some of their fighting techniques after 99 (and probably a lot more) fights. That sentence contradicts itself. He had to learn it at least to some degree, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to defeat them.
Maybe he keeps some of those flashy ladylike moves for the most difficult situations. He could have used the experience he got from Okama kenpo to make his own improvements.

Well to be fair to you… it was over 750 chapters ago Chapter 40 in fact

Them beating a yonko won't happen anytime soon, atleast 5 or more arcs which will be years for us

really can't imagine what direction oda is gonna go with capt- jack…
on one hand making him fail would make the scene kinda pointless and undermine a bit his menace (but only just a bit,we are talking about fujitora, sengoku and tsuru after all)...on the otherthat part must go somewhere..maybe he just wants to show us that he is batshit insane?and even IF doflamingo gets rescued..i can't imagine his role in the story at this point...even save him just to make kaidou personally crush him would be a really strange choice for a guy like doflamingo and the importance he had in the story until now.
of course there's also the possibility that jack is successfull through some devil fruit shenanigans
Doula must go to Impel Down, he's the only one insane enough to make another prison break and free Bon Clay.
-
Hope Jack roughs up sengoku and tsuru but retreats without Joker, because I am of the hope we will see Akainu over him(Joker) looking at the hole in his head and Akainu hand having its lava, execution exclusive. Expressing the marines hightened level of justice…..
-
I really don't know what to think about the Jack / Marine issue.
As I stated previously, I think that Jack has been intimidated by Kaido, and so was pushed into going after Doflamingo. I feel like it's something that Kaido would do.
Now are Kaido's lieutenants going to get Doflamingo back ? I don't see them beating Issho, Sengoku and Tsuru at the same time. No matter how strong they may be, they're still lieutenants, and a lieutenant beating an admiral is impossible.
Plus, Jack's men state that they won't be able to bring Doflamingo back.
http://imgur.com/mKtdxxv
(here)But still, Jack seems quite confident. I think he must have a special ability or at least a plan which would allow him to bring Doflamingo back. If it just ends on a fight, Jack would get stomped, and I don't know why he would have been introduced in the first place.

Remember when Law said that he wanted to destroy the world ?
http://imgur.com/p32pMeLWell, now that he has beaten Doflamingo, it seems that he is, in a way, destroying the world. I'm referring to Doflamingo's speech, when he says that without him, the Marines and the World Government would be in big trouble, that a "game of thrones" would appear and that people will start conquering the world.
-
Them beating a yonko won't happen anytime soon, atleast 5 or more arcs which will be years for us
And what is your point? Ennis Lobby was 9-10 years ago and only now we got a new bounty upgrade for the other crewmembers.
-

Well like I said, I have a feeling some of them will get a bounty increase soon, not until some yonko stuff.

I'm referring to Doflamingo's speech, when he says that without him, the Marines and the World Government would be in big trouble, that a "game of thrones" would appear and that people will start conquering the world.
You're taking Law's words way out of context to create an irony that isn't really there. Law said what he said after having lost his family, friends and city, knowing he'd die in a short time. The irrationality and injustice of his losses made him think (like Doffy) that the world is an ugly place. The whole point of Law's story is to show that the world isn't so bad: people like Rocinante exist, and so humans are as capable of good as they are of bad.
Doffy's speech here speaks of wars and chaos to come, but Law isn't out for blood anymore. Will Law be involved in the "game of thrones"? Of course. But the incoming world conflict has nothing to do with an outlook that Law doesn't even have anymore.
-
I read it at 5:30AM and have been thinking about and obsessing over this chapter all day, so I know the feeling lol
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Google translate keeps calling Lucci, "Luigi". That's officially something I'm gonna sometimes call him now.. lol
Hey some of those things are actually very clever, even some I didn't spot! He even got to find some of the bounty images (although I found all of them). He however missed pandaman :P
-
As much as I would love to see a female admiral… Doubt that... because of Green BULL.
Maybe the name isn't gender specific in japanese.
I mean.. it's just a title, it doesn't have to be gender specific. We already have titles like "dog" and "monkey", which aren't really gender specific.
"Green Cow" wouldn't be as threatening. <:c
I just really want a strong female Marine for once. I don't think that's too much to hope for, right Oda? . . Right? -
Finally made it though all of the discussion…
Anyway... I think my favorite part of the chapter was how well Doffy is taking his defeat and capture. He's happy as long as he can destroy the world (even indirectly though his capture), which is exactly what he told Bellamy many chapters ago. I just wish we could have learned more about the secret of Mariejois, but I guess Oda will get to that eventually.
I agree that the best part of the bounties are the reactions from the crew and others. The scene with Franky getting upset about his bounty and being upset with Usopp was such a great moment and somewhat reminded me of various forum arguments I've read.
Sanji... I can't wait to see what comes of his bounty revelation. I sure hope it's something serious related to his past though because that's something I've always wanted Oda to explore more.
-
It looks like we have a few(very few) strong female Marines, I just want to see them do something. I love that for years Doffy and his crew were afraid of Tsuru but I want to see exactly why. I suppose that female giant could be someone but then again as a giant the odds aren't looking too good.
Maybe just one right now. I'd like the new admiral to be a woman as well.
-

I definitely agree with this. True to his namesake, Doflamingo is definitely the type to be laughing maniacally and teasing his jailers as they lock him in a deep hole. His speech itself wasn't that remarkable but the setting for it made it enjoyable.
-
The new wanted posters and their reactions sadly reflect what the strawhats have come to be since the timeskip: one-dimensional side jokes. Even their interactions (see usupp and franky) seem off, cold and even out of place after such a long time (and with them simultaneously struggling to care about their long-missing comrades).
Anyway, even though i've long since grown bored and maybe over-critical with One Piece, i must admit the world building and future events hyping chapters hardly ever miss. Always fun to read.
Doflamingo suddenly came back in-charachter after 2 years of utter lameness, just in time for a last good impression. of course we won't hear of him and jack for a long time.
Sanji reveal felt meh to me. Again, with the absolute lack of focus and proper charachter development the supposed co-protagonists had in the last five years, it felt somehow forced and even uniteresting. Also the way it was teased: one panel, no build up whatsoever.
Anyway, don't mind me. it was a good, fun chapter. as good as anything that aknowledges Sabo's existence in this manga can get, actually.
-
Alright Eeyore.
So anyone wonder if Chopper's new bounty will set something in motion? He was certainly upset about his first one and claimed he fought like man during Enies Lobby so naturally this won't go over well with him. Of course Chopper's personality isn't one that gets him out in the front lines as eagerly as the monster trio but I wonder if he'll actually try harder for a bigger bounty. What ever that means, I don't have the slightest but I'd love this bounty to drive Chopper to be a little more willing to jump into the forefront of battles from time to time.
-
Bellamy's bounty is still higher than Sanji's.
Pours tabasco on eyes while walking on hot coals
-
This chapter pushed Doffy as the best villian of all time (in One Piece) to the maximum, still, I hope this is the last we see of him, he's had too much time in the spotlight.
-
Is it me or is the guy Lucci talking to on the phone sound _exactly_ like Kaku?

@Game:

He's been shown since them too, reading about the Strawhats at Enis Lobby while on his ship. I believe.
-
I still champion the idea that the east blue villains have team up
-
Sooo…that WAS Lucci in the shadows of Chapters 676 and 692??
-
He's been shown since them too, reading about the Strawhats at Enis Lobby while on his ship. I believe.
unfortunately, its filler. It was the anime only. Kuro hasn't been seen in the manga since then.
Hell Axe-hand Morgan was seen in a cover arc, so one could say 'Morgan got better treatment than Kuro'.Out of the East Blue villains, hmmm Wow … looking at the various East Blue arcs, we have seen the return of a lot of the main villain/opponents!
I need to type out a lot but will return with that info.
Done, you can visit it at my 'korner' here.
-
Sooo…that WAS Lucci in the shadows of Chapters 676 and 692??
Yeah, most people said he was out of commission and no way he'd be appearing anytime soon, some did say it was Lucci and were shut down but it seems more and more likely it was him especially after his investigation of the smuggling list this chapter. I hope Lucci has trained his ass off to the point where he's almost Luffy's equal. That round two needs to happen. Most people say it was the best fight Luffy ever had, hopefully it happens again but this time with haki and all sorts of new and upgraded techniques.

For plot reasons all villains have to be overcome but I still think this guy got hit hard with the nerf gun, he's such a beast on paper.

So in your own profound and wonderful ways, how would you develop the chapter ? What could Oda have done to have
achieved such lofty standards ? :getlost: -
Hahaha! @God-Usopp's statue! Doffy's section is my fav. Cannot wait for the anime interpretation. So hyped about Sanji! Only Alive?!?!
-
I might be the only one who doesn't want a reaction chapter. I'm over it, lets get right to the plot of the next arc. Show the Sanji group already!
For the record, I love the reaction chapters, but we've had one relatively recently already, and these past 4 or so chapters have already ended the arc so well. The Sanji poster would segue so well into Zou.I might also be in the minority here too, but as much as everyone is always insisting that they're a long way off from defeating an Yonkou, I think we've got maybe one more big boss fight (tops) before Luffy and a Yonkou fight. I think Oda has built them up enough. I don't think Luffy has any more major training arcs approaching, and already has the power, even if we haven't seen him take it to his limits yet, to beat a Yonkou already, just as much as he was already a man capable of defeating Crocodile and Enel when he was first meeting his crew. He just has to be pushed.

well for sure he was the only one (apart from doffy in this arc) to be on equal ground to luffy in terms of hand-to-hand combat…usually the villains get the best of luffy because of their powers or some tricks, luffy vs lucci was a fist fight through and through
For plot reasons all villains have to be overcome but I still think this guy got hit hard with the nerf gun, he's such a beast on paper.
nerf gun?
are you joking?
doflamingo was an absolute beast throughout the whole arc@Kishido:Bull is different to the terms monkey and dog.
Bull is a male cattle.
But as I asked… Maybe the original japanese name isn't "bull"... have to wait for sandman or Aohige to clear this up
i tried to find something on the web,but i didn't manage to find the term for "bull" in japanese the way it's written in the manga…the term for cow (ushi) has three slightly different version for "genderless" ,"female cow" and "male cow" though
just as a bonus..google translate the kanji as "cow"
so it's probably genderless -
nerf gun?
are you joking?
doflamingo was an absolute beast throughout the whole arcHe got progressively less and less scary throghout the arc.
I think he got hit heavily with a gigantic nerf hammer, you think he pulled out everything his ability allowed him to pull, and that's ok.
-

he basically fought everyone almost by himself during the whole arc..coming out on top almost every time and going down only after getting his organs sliced by law and getting beaten up by g4 luffy who was able to split the entire city with a punch
how is that a nerf?what else should he have done?throw mountains? -
My only real problem with Doflamingo was PARASITE.
It was that mysterious power that was introduced many years ago, that can stop even a beast like Jozu just like that, with no effort, then it was to control 2 vice admiral to fight eachother, then iot got even more hype controlling people at country scale, then again hyped hard with Sanji… then we got this: Luffy just shake it off like it's nothing in seconds, with no explanation, nothing.
Oda didn't even bother to explain parasite like the other moves, he just left it in the air. It's like he knew himself he invented this broken move to hype up the villain and then he just hoped everyone forgets about it because it would be hard explain all the wrong things about it.
This move's hype was on par with birdcage. Damn, forgot about BIRDCAGE, that's beyond...nvm. next arc fast, please.

yeah, that should have had more explanation, but basically he pull the strings off by expanding his body..it's not an "omg didn't think of that" moment..but it's better than the power of love or something :P

how is that a nerf?what else should he have done?throw mountains? You're talking about raw power, I was talking about using his devil fruit in hax ways. It didn't make sense to me for him to use certain abilities in one occasion, and then not use them in another. To be insanely fast, but not fast enough when he needs to get hit by Law. He can turn everything into a string? Best way to use that is to clump a bunch of strings together and make them really big and visible to the opponent, right?
And I'll never forgive Oda for not giving Dofla a Haki enforced string armor with razor sharp spikes or whatever. Realistically (well, lol) he should have been capable of that, considering he can make a solid copy of himself with strings. If that were a real fight, Luffy would have gone out of it covered in blood, not unlike Zoro after Kuma on TB. (But perhaps Oda saved something like that for Yonkou fight.)

doffy strings have always been visible..is just oda that decide to not show them until punk hazard…they don't glow of course, but they are visible if you look for them
nobody was able to cut dofla strings..what would haki hardened string do exactly?they were already so sharp that were able to cut through stone without any resistance, like an hot knife thorugh butter..the armor would have done shit since haki exist..luffy would have punched through that..also make an armor that is razor sharp on the outside AND the inside doesn't seem like a good idea.

So that she has the mop mop fruit? Or the birth birth fruit? Oda just doesn't has the track record to make me thing he do it right.
