I have a feeling Luffy's gonna answer simply with, "Sure, do whatever you guys want!"
He might do that and they'll end up pledging to Ussop instead. That'll put another one of his famous lies very close to the truth (though I think it was 7,000).

Boss Luffy, vs "Father Luffy" has more of a better ring to it. WB was old enough to experience the time of Gol D so I can understand the father moniker, but Luffy' a pib-squeak age wise (with all due respect). O well.
Also, lets not forget the empire of Alabsta* and the likes of the Fishman and Skypia Islands. Yup, when Luffy goes to War, he's going to War grand.
Great chapter, and thus begins the rise of the Strawhat Empire.
I'd like it if that was Luffys reaction. "Whaaaaaaat, "father"? No way. You guys can be my cousins!"
@DEE:
Bellamy is going to save doffy for the last time so he'd fulfill his dream. Lmfao. Just kiddin'
I guess, since Barto's going to stay with his crew as a follower… Bellamy is definetly going to join the strawhats by a direct request from Luffy himself.
Luffy knows what Bellamy endured. he deserves to join a real crew.
Bellamy will not directly join the Strawhats. I just don't see it. Not going to repeat what I'm sure you read on why not but simply put Bellamy just isn't unique or important enough.
Well my Leo prediction of him joining sort of came true. Leo will be under Luffy/Usopp command when needed. Leo's powers definitely to me needs to be explored more. I believe it can be a very useful fruit. I want to see it in a one-on-one fight. The dwarves (little people being politically correct) will either stay in Dressrosa or travel with someone at least until their gullibility is curbed.
After reading the thread, I think Bellamy will join Law now. The 56(go-mu) followers for Bartolomeo cannot be messed with unless either Bellamy is the 56th member or Bartolomeo's crew grows to a number with 56 in it…examples: 156, 256, 560, 561, etc... Law will give Bellamy some sort of speech connecting the two more and Bellamy will then give him the Bellamy salute and or hand-over-heart-gesture displaying his allegiance. I think it's a decent shot in the dark.
Last…where the hell is the Kyros bronze statue? Needs to be on this boat now or delivered somehow soon.
Hardly. These guys are for his wars against the Yonkou, first and foremost.
Also you actually think Arabasta would send itself soldiers to Raftel or something? Drum? Fishman Island?
When it becomes a movement so powerful, yes they will. And we don't know if it's raftel. but if you've been reading this manga, you know oda's foreshadowing a shake down of the way the world works. And he is making Luffy the center of that big change. Him going to so many islands and saving them, making friends with the leaders of those islands, isn't just for the arc itself but the for the end.
And where all of this Orlumbus people have been as shit gave been going on at Dressrosa?
Probably couldn't get in b/c of the birdcage.
where is burgess? why does he seem to always go missing?
surprised that the marines didn't try to capture him. They knew he was on the island and they no have more than enough man power to search. They don't know it, but burgess is badly hurt, so i doubt he's just walking away from it. I would venture that a commander of a yonkou was more valuable or equal value to luffy.
Cabbage, Barto and Sai are like some sort of baby monster trio. Hopefully it stays like it and no one more notorious than any of those three ever joins Luffy.
You forgot about Leo.
Anyways, this was a great chapter and a really cool way to warp up the Dressrosa arc.
I believe Luffy will turn their offer down, simply because he doesn't want a bunch of idiots following him around everywhere he goes. His refusal will most likely have no impact though, as the crews will still consider themselves Luffy's allies and will come to his aid whenever he needs it.
I did. Hard to remember that little guy with his little power!
@Daz:
In those cases, the lies and charades had a purpose. Namis friends lied to her so that she didn't feel the crushing weight of their hopes riding on her, as well as a possible out if ever she wanted to run away. Kureha and the Baratie chefs wanted to give Chopper/Sanji a kick in the butt to get going and pursue their dream etc, and this was made clear in-story.
It's exactly the same. It's pride getting in the way of moving on int he direction you want your life to go, and others accepting what you're doing to respect your pride… up until the last minute.
I'll stick with just one comparison or else we'll be here all day.
Sanji-I have to stay on the Baratie forever because I'm an awful kid and I owe Zeff too much.
Kyros- I can't stay with the princess because I am unworthy and filthy.
Sanji- But, there's this opportunity to live my dreams... but no, I can't.
Kyros- But, there's this opportunity to live my dreams... but no, I can't.
Baratie chefs- you idiot. We don't care about that. Now we're goign to make an elaborate show so you can do what you have to.
Dresserossa- you idiot. We don't care about that. Now we're goign to make an elaborate show so you can do what you have to.
The exact specifics are a little different, but the gist is the same. As Rikku said in the flashback, an individual citizen might be okay with Kyros, but the masses wouldn't be. This is just showing an overflowing "no actually, EVERYONE loves you and is totally okay with it... but most importantly the person that it matters most to is okay with it."
Same thing happened on FIshman Island. "Yes, we all retracted our votes and showed a complete lack of support.... but now we believe in you fully and love you and we're great with whatever you want to do!"
You're letting someone do what they want, because you believe its what they want. None of those citizens knew Kyros personally, who are they to question their beloved hero and princess? If the king wants to sneak out in stupid costumes, let him have his fun. They didn't know he was leaving forever, or wasn't just going to stay on that hillside and meet in secret again, or whatever. "Living in the boonies makes him happy." Not until the last minute when Luffy broke through the bullshit that everyone realizes "Oh hey, stuff."
This boils down to Kyros, and Kyros himself, feeling like he was dirty and unworthy of being with someone nice. He'd been cheered in the colloseum and a head guard and trusted by the king, but that still didn't make him feel worthy to touch his own daughter with his bare hands. That was his issue to get over, more than the citizens.
(And apparently they all realized Luffy WASN'T kidnapping Rebecca and they were making a show in order to cover his escape... which is identical to a whole mess of times now Marines had to be circumvented so everyone could be freindly with the pirates, like with Coby or Alabasta orPunk Hazard.)
Oda does this all the time. Misunderstandings and emotional reunions and self sacrifice and loved ones cheering you on at the end and holding one vital piece of information till the end are his bread and butter. The scale of it may very, but thats all it is, the scale.
If it had been the opposite and say, all the citizens were openly okay with Kyros and Scarlet, but just the King was against them and they had to fake things for the one guy? But at the end he went "Gah, this is getting in the way of you being happy. Live your lives you crazy kids" it'd be the same thing. It would have been a single nasty father instead in that case, but the overall outcome and storytelling would be the same.
i still can't believe it's actually happening luffy is getting a fleet wow
Wow, amazing chapter Oda-sensei.. love it.. can't wait the anime version for this chapter, especially when Barto ask Luffy to exchange sake.. Hopefully it will give me more goosebumps.. well, still curious about Luffy answers tough..
Based on Luffy character, I think at first Luffy won't accept their offer, but, finally accept it without "parent and child" relationshiop, just friends.. Please Oda-sensei, make it happens..
And I become to like Fujitora more and want to know his life in the past..
I'm actually pretty curious to see what Barto's ship looks like. Probably the same as the Sunny or Merry. Given how big of a Straw Hat fan he is.

Capturing a commander in a Yonko fleet is basically declaring war on that Yonko.
While Ace being Roger's son was worth it, Burgess just isn't important enough to start a full scale war for the sake of capturing him.
Jeet and Abju being with the martial artists is weird. They don't seem to specialize in combat and are into dirty tricks. ust weird to see those kind of bounty hunter be into martial arts. Waiiiit, are they even criminals?
Aren't those two based on real life wrestlers? Wrestling is a form of martial arts, no?

Yes they are, but as character it's weird to see them get interested in martial art all of the sudden.
wait…so the dressrosans knew about kyros and scarlet? so they were all just pretending to hate rebecca..?

The Gym Martial Arts alliance is where all the parody fighters went to.
Abdullah the Butcher. Tiger Jeet, Bruce Lee and Ideon.
Surely, had the Funk Brothers allied themselves with Luffy, they would've ended here as well.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
wait…so the dressrosans knew about kyros and scarlet? so they were all just pretending to hate rebecca..?
Not really. They hated Rebecca because she was descendent of the villainous Riku.
This would also explain how they even found out about her in the first place.

Well nowadays it isn't, in Japan and I believe in old times in the US wrestling was catch wrestling aka amateur wrestling(which should actually be called pro) with submissions, so yeah we can say pro wrestling was related to martial arts, heck in Japan pro wrestlers partake in MMA matches.
What is the purpose of that lottery order again?
Also, it's not like they remembered Kyros even existed once Sugar turned him into a toy.
Anyways, it just hit me that Ucy is nowhere to be seen. He better not be left out of this.
if luffy says yes,he would actually get a subordinate that has an higher bounty than him

Yeah we need Ucy on the actual Sunny being the actual pet of the crew instead of Chopper.
if luffy says yes,he would actually get a subordinate that has an higher bounty than him
Chinjao? he is retiring, he gave Sai the Don rights, plus Luffy beat up Chinjao and he is most likelly getting a bounty raise above 500.
Ok i read the chapter. I've updated my previous post with my thoughts on it:

well, bounties don't expire..brook still had his after more than eighty years of inactivity
as per the bounty..i don't think luffy will go over 500 mln

With all that happened? you don't think the marines/WG won't think he is dangerous enough to have a 500 bounty?
Also I said Chinjao was going to retire aka not be anyone subordinate, he was the leader of the Hapou Navy he isn't anymore .
I don't think he would necessarily turn them down, but like he said this chapter, they can do whatever they want.
I don't think he would necessarily turn them down, but like he said this chapter, they can do whatever they want.
Yeah we know how Luffy acts, he probably won't care but they will still ally with them and they will party after this in the Yonta Maria, so he probably ends up drinking with all of them anyway.
I did. Hard to remember that little guy with his little power!
I think you are underestimating Leo's powers. His sewing needles are essentially two rapier like swords. His powers potentially can allow him to do many roles on a ship…examples: surgeon, sailmaker, tailor, shoemaker, repairman, etc...he and the other dwarves lost to Trebol...nothing to ashamed of.
Ouuhh Buffalo didn't get to follow Baby5, that's sad.
I'm still praying for Wicca to be on those 200 hundred people, Zoro needs her.
As for Bellamy, if he didn't join Barto or Law this chapter it only means he's not joining anyone, he's not more relevant than the 7 Strawmmanders so he doesn't deserve nothing on chap/800, so he'll just stick around to not to get captured by the marine and get lost as soon as he feels safe to leave them.
Moria and Caribou could play interesting roles on this war.
"Keep it in your pants!"
Seriously Mangastream.

jinbe back at fishman island, said that to improve one's bounty after getting to 400 is extremely difficult…luffy making a >100 mln leap would be a contraddiction
also,we haven't really see that many guys with bounties of that size...I think >500 mln bounties are reserved for the emperors..if they even have one
Kaku 5? What does that mean? We'll we be seeing CP9 soon? On the first page we see the citizens smiling.
I think I have a problem, I get so emotional over everything now, I wasn't always like this. Fuji wishing he could see Luffy's face and other features almost made me tear up. The citizens knowing Fuji is blind and using it to their advantage trying to project Luffy like that also warmed my heart. Oh I love this series!
The moment Chinjao got his head popped back into place I knew his crew would be future allies. Even before Chinjao outright gave Luffy the authority over his fleet I just knew it was going to happen. The moment everyone was turned into toys I just knew these guys, like everyone else the Straw Hats liberate, would be on Luffy's side until the end of days. Even when Doffy started his 5 star game I knew ultimately these people would still end up as Straw Hat allies in some massive fleet for the final story.
I knew all this and still hated that half the crew was gone for so long. I hated that Sanji didn't get a rematch against Vergo or Trebol. I hated that Nami wasn't going to be able to pull of some amazing new weather stunt causing a huge shake up like Usopp or Zoro. I couldn't wait to see Brook make everyone get high again! I knew what Oda was setting up and while it was enjoyable it just wasn't as enjoyable as a Straw Hat taking on those acts. The payoff however came so much sooner than I expected! Hakuba one shoting Delinger and Hadrudin blasting Mach Vice up into the bird cage just carries so much more weight now! The pay off was worth the Swirly hats absence for me. They will be back soon enough and chances are Oda will give them a few extra great moments to compensate. Somewhat like how Brook got a fairly fleshed out battle compared to other Straw Hats on Fishman Island since he never got a chance to really shine before the separation.
Look at Law just standing there. Probably like, "if it wasn't for me, the Straw Hats wouldn't even be here! Grumble grumble." Seriously though you know he's thinking that their 30% success rate against Kaido just increase to like 50%.
Loved this chapter! YABADABADOO!
as per the bounty..i don't think luffy will go over 500 mln
He hasn't had an update since before the timeskip. Haki control alone and one shotting a pacifista raise his threat level. never mind everything that happened on FI, Punk Hazard and Dresserossa. Taking out ANOTHER warlord? Allying with a different one? Fighting evenly with an admiral? Assembling a fleet?
His next raise will be a doozy.

Yes its extremely difficult but Luffy just beat Shichibukai, they can say they have Cesar a fujitive with him in his crew, they can say he created a civil war or took part in it, he escaped an admiral, he made an alliance with Law that hasn't been accounted for and possibly with all this others characters.
Its not like oh I have a 400 bounty, I'm going to rob a shitty island and I'll get a 2m raise, all that Luffy has done past timeskip has been massive.
Kaku 5? What does that mean? We'll we be seeing CP9 soon? On the first page we see the citizens smiling.

I didn't tear up but that certaintly hit me pretty hard, I though that was a great, last time I actuallly teared up was probably the blood transfusion between Luffy and Jinbe, that was beatiful.

Ace had a 550 Million bounty.
With only a 3-year pirate career.
I'm highly amused such a scary-looking guy like Suleiman is now apart of a crew called the Beautiful Pirates.

Although I am one of those who usually goes against huge raises in bounties, this chapter alone made me believe Luffy can get something like that. Now Luffy will have the head of a force composed of many crews, the WG can't help but see him as a Yonkou in the making. This probably tops everything Luffy did this chapter to the WG eyes… maybe they invite him to the Shichibukai first, but after he denies the invitation he will probably be seen as a serious big threat.
@S.C.:
I'm highly amused such a scary-looking guy like Suleiman is now apart of a crew called the Beautiful Pirates.
He's beautiful in his own head-chopping, war-criminal way.
- More Fuji development. His earnest smile as he says he really wished to see what kinda face Luffy had? An admiral? Man, that's like. . .first time ever.
Pretty sure Aokiji smiled as well when the Strawhats left Water 7.
I think next chapter it is finally time to say goodbye to this arc… And while happy... it means say goodbye to Bartolomeo soon... I will be so heartbroken... And this is why I will is my Barto set until he leaves
OMG THIS CHAPTER FUCKING ROCKED. I had considered this possibility during the colosseum fights but totally forgot about it. Oda just confirmed Luffy will be a Yonkou basically, he has the crew now
I think next chapter it is finally time to say goodbye to this arc… And while happy... it means say goodbye to Bartolomeo soon... I will be so heartbroken... And this is why I will is my Barto set until he leaves
Omg, why is he going to.leave??
Luffy doesn't have any mission for him, it seems they all are going to Zo to find the SwirlyHats, BepoHearts and reveal whatever the Wanokunians were looking for there, and if it's related to Kaido(which probably is)/then the war is just right next corner and Luffy needs not only Barto but all of his 7 Strawmmanders with him.
I feel like it doesn't matter what Luffy answers. This loveable bunch of idiots will follow him regardless of him accepting or declining lol.
@Bartholemew:
Pretty sure Aokiji smiled as well when the Strawhats left Water 7.
Speaking of Aokiji, I'm pretty interested to know what he's up to with Blackbeard. I'm sure he plans to undermine him in some way, but how exactly still remains to be seen. Perhaps he wants to discover Blackbeard's secret, as in what allows him to eat more than one devil fruit, and possibly discover a potential weakness associated with it? Maybe we'll see him again when Vegapunk makes his appearance. Anyways, I'm sure this has been discussed already, so I'll leave it be for now.
Regarding this chapter, I'm curious to see what the alliance will be doing from now on. They most likely won't be following Luffy around and will only reappear when the Straw Hats are in need of assistance. But will they all stick together meanwhile? Or will the seven factions go their separate ways and wait for their "captain's" orders? If it's the latter, then what about the dwarves, will they stay in Dressrosa, join one of the other crews or travel by themselves?
Here's my reasons why I think Luffy "might" turn them down:
1. Gol D Roger doesn't have a fleet. Unless I missed this. I still have that impression that Luffy's story will be like Gol D Roger.
2. Luffy's facial expression in the last page looks innocent yet hessitant of the offer.
3. They're not all good pirates like the straw hats. They're "pirates".
Please let me know what you guys think! :)
Hehe zoro want to test his strenght agains admiral
Pretty sure Suleiman will get the sparkly fabulous treatment. And about that, i wish that someday there will be a double spread with all the strawhats getting the same treatment as well, with Duval in a corner trying to steal the spotlight
Here's my reasons why I think Luffy "might" turn them down:
1. Gol D Roger doesn't have a fleet. Unless I missed this. I still have that impression that Luffy's story will be like Gol D Roger.

3. They're not all good pirates like the straw hats. They're "pirates".Please let me know what you guys think! :)
1. Luffy is the kind of guy who can easily say: "Woa!!! Yes!!! Now you are my underlings. But don't dare to approach my ship and my meat with out permission!!", and keep sailing alone but with an army under his orders. Anyway it fits the general plot, since he's like the guy who going to break the status quo releasing the people from the tyrany of the WG.
2. It's the same face he has when he's surprised for something, so it's not particularly relevant, I guess.
3. Whaaaa? 'good', nor 'bad' rhyme with 'pirates' in this story. It's about pirates, and you can understand the story with out adding moral categories. Or at least, that's how I read it.
I wonder where the other 2400 pirates are going to come from to form 8000 pirates to make another one of Usopp's lies come true
I know some people think this will just be a shake hands and maybe we'll see each other again type of deal, (like most of SH meet and greets during arcs) but considering Luffy and Law's objective of actively trying to overthrow Kaido, and Big Mom already targeting the Strawhats , I really don't see how the The new Allies don't stick around for at least a couple more arcs.
Also the way Oda introduced them was so formulaic and precise (especially Barto, Cavendish & Sai) that I find it hard to believe all of this was without a singular purpose of beefing up the Strawhats ranks for the hurdles to come in the very near future. I never bought that they would take down either Yonko with just their two sophomore pirate crews and a couple Samurai, even with maybe Jinbe and rest of the Sun Pirates backing them up it didn't seem realistic. We have to consider things like X. Drake and his boys working for Kaidou now…Drake alone should be on Luffy and Law's level.
Dressrossa gave us the best teaser of what to expect a confrontation with a Yonko would be like through Doffy, a lot of manpower with some displaying similar strengths to what we've come to expect from some of the Vice Admirals from Marineford, make no mistake a lot of the chaos on Dressrosa stemmed from the fact the Marines were smack dab in the middle , but Luffy and company needed every contribution present to pull this one off to defeat Dofla's network. We can only imagine what it's like to go against a Yonko on their own Turf.
Either way, this seemed like a natural progression to me unless Luffy is just really intent on becoming the Pirate King with the least amount of odds possible. But even if he says no, I have a feeling Law will remind him of their agenda and these guys will have to come along anyway.
