Based Gregor deserves only the finest of women, that's why I paired him with Tharja. Also he seemed like the only one who could handle all that crazy.
I paried him with Panne. It created one of the best and most adorable Yarnes.

Maribelle on the other end is one of my favorite characters in this game, and I ain't benching the mounrted healer, that will be a godsend in lunatic mode. And what is it with this series and having noble/oujo-type troubadours? Clarine, Priscilla, L'Arachel….
At least she doesn't have an older brother she secretly pines for.
I actually have to force myself to use her or Lissa in Awakening since I find it so much easier just to promote Miriel and use her instead. Of the two, I think I prefer Lissa.
Fun fact: to make sure Nowi didn't get one-shotted in her debut chapter, I paired her up with Gregor. Then the C-support came, and I kinda just rolled with it I guess.
…......what? it gave me Nah with awesome hair color and Sol
no regrets
I went for Gregor and Cordelia. It plays out just like a rom-com! She's been getting romantic advice from him to use on Chrom, only to realize that he's the one she really loves. It's a tad wasteful but someone like Severa needs Wrath.
@Cyan:
Need to stop dawdling and work on my anime backlog.

I always use Lissa. She can hold her own in a fight, unlike Mirabelle.

I think you spelled Sully wrong :ninja:

I dunno, Awakening gives more staff exp (Rescue ftw) to level your healers up. I did promote Miriel in my main run to a Sage, but her usage kinda fell off I guess? I made Lissa a War Cleric, something I really regret, since after second-classing chaos, I found she goes nuclear as a Sage.
Also Lissa and Maribelle have enthralling personalities/supports in my opinion~ (and not just with each other)

Hahaha well my Severa was blessed with Luna.
I think you can figure who I paired Cordelia off with. Why IS, why are there no supports for Chrom and Cordelia? (even though I love ChromxSumia) ;_;
I always use Lissa. She can hold her own in a fight, unlike Mirabelle.
Reason why the morphs lack luck in FE7? Lissa siphoned it all off. She's like uber lucky.
The Gregor/Tharja support is one of the very few in the series that completely changes how you look at a character.

Lissa is the better War Cleric.
I just abused the DLC maps like a bandit on slightly lesser units and also grinded heavily.
Dammit, maybe I shouldn't have started my new game on Hard. I'm rustier than I thought I was. Only Chapter 3 and my units are dying more than they should. Naturally I restart every time they die because I am not losing anybody.
My memory is foggy though, how long does it take before they open up the damn shops!?

Very likely remembering this wrong but I believe you unlock the shop after Donell's recruit mission.

It's at the same time. You get free range of the map after Chapter 4 and Paralogue 1 immediately pops up.

Chapter 4? Fuck.
It's all these Bronze vs. Iron weapons that's doing me in.

I knew it was somewhere around that part of the game given how awkward those chapters are prior to you unlocking the shop so you can get weapons that aren't bullshit especially if you're attempting a hard mode run like poor Satsuki.

@S.C.:
Fates' version of the creepy-looking bandit twins.
! You can recruit them with the capture mechanic.
! No romancing them though which is a shame.
Chapter 14 Nohr, one thing I noticed there is very noticeable overlap on content for both versions. Like Nohr and Hoshido share some of the same maps(although they might have slightly different objectives). They even share the same story beats. Like some of them are pretty much the same but with the respective faction characters being swapped.
They're still different enough I guess?(to me at least)
Asthma, in your opinion does it feel recycled or is it more an effort to show it's still part of the same world?

Oh, I figured there'd be some overlap. They can't make that many different maps, and the story is similar just from a different perspective, or so it seems.
Mmmh I think stuff like this is highly subjective, might not bother some at all, might legitemately bother others. It probably won't affect most I think since most will probably get one version + third route at most?
But truth to be told yeah it's kind of recycled(location backgrounds, maps, story beats). I think the story beats are the most noticable, they give off the feeling "wait I already played this" the most.
Example(don't read if you care about the story, but I don't think you should care about the story in this game anyway cause it's awful:ninja:there I said it but Fire Emblem is about gameplay right?):
! At one point in Hoshido Takumi gets sick from some illness and you need to get the medicine. Exactly the same thing happens with Elise. At least the mission maps for that were different.
There is the reverse case with you meeting the rainbow sage to gain power where the map is the same but the story circumstances around that are minimally different. That said all of it is at least paced in a way that makes it seem less bad.And there is still enough stuff that differs but them doing essentially "three"(unless third route is actually really different) Fire Emblem games is now way less impressive.
throws DS at the wall
Dammit, I can't even get past Chapter 3. I don't remember Hard mode being this hard before.

Focus on the lower right side and just leave the left to Kellam. Give the Hammer to The Vaike.

Speaking of chapter 14:

It's not something that has happened in Nohr yet unless I somehow accidentally skipped the cinematic for it, so I don't know but from what I've seen it's the same just color swapped? So better = do you like black or white more?

! How she dances affects Garon. Hoshido's makes him merely uncomfortable, while Nohr's almost gives him a seizure.

You can't grind this early in the game. There's no place to grind.

I guess that makes sense. Although I'd leave the left side to Kellam AND Frederick, cause I think putting all that on Kellam is a little too much.

Oh you're still stuck before the outrealm gate appears?…..well guess I'm batting 1 for 3 this week:sad:
Paralogue 1 sucks on Lunatic. Naturally Donnel gets one-shotted by anything, but you know you're in for misery when thieves can kill you.

What you gotta do is trap the archers against a wall (or just surround them), so they can't move or attack, and let Don go to town. I think that I did some of the other main story levels first so my other characters were beefier, makes it simpler.

Ah, why didn't I think of that? Good idea.
Also I forget if the thief running around leaves the map, or what is his exit point. Getting that Rescue staff is a must.
I think the thief hits a chest in the top left and then exits midway down the left side. I know you can trap him by the chests at least.
I think I usually pair Donny up with Sumia or Sully for the strength/speed boost and so he can zip around the map to pick off stragglers.

Oh god, I don't even want to imagine.
About the thing in chapter 14
! Got slightly confused since the save file says 14 when you haven't played the mission yet. It practically notes which the next mission is not which you did last.
So now I've seen the Nohr dance, it's still very similar. I think the Hoshido music is more fitting for the opera hall but if I would judge only by the music I like the Nohr one more.
Why is Chapter 4 so much easier than Chapter 3? And why is Sumia so freaking weak? Gimmie Cordelia already.
Oh well, at least now I can grind. Slowly. So very slowly.
Chapter 22 in Nohr… good lord when can I have my spine back?

Really hard? Really scary?
Really hard? Really scary?
! It has those giant shurikens turrents that hurts really hard if they hit and Sakura trolls you in a sealed room in the map by using silence and binding your moves. And the following chapters are no easier btw.

Asthma what difficulty are you playing on? 0_0
Really hard? Really scary?
Not that, although some of the time limit maps can be really tight especially if you want to get all the treasures and talk to people, in Lunatic it might be really rough on Hard it's still very doable with a bit of trial and error. 22 was pretty ok cause you have no time limit and can just fight very slowly through it although I run a 4 healer setup and all those healers can at least take 1 attack.
It's more for arguably "contrived" story reasons that I want a spine.
Time limit maps? Ohoho this game is gonna be very interesting to play. On a side note:

Eheheheheheh I can't wait!
I am having shitty luck with my level ups. Will nobody but Stahl get defense points!?
After watching some JP gameplay, I have found my biggest complaint about Fates.
Why do Fighters not wear pants? The regular mook ones are bad enough, but then you see Ganz, and….ugh.
Kind of forgot to talk about the logbook which is really cool(as in makes it easier but still requires some work) to optimize characters across multiple playthroughs.
The way it works when you finish the game you can add 5 characters too it. The five characters you add will retain all their skills they got through that playthrough. Then on your next playthrough you can buy those skills for gold.
The skills you buy will only work for the character you buy them from. So you buy a skill from Harold, only Harold will get this skill.
So adding Nohr characters to the logbook is useless if you want to buy skills for the Hoshido route.
The more skills you buy the more gold the next skill you buy will cost per character(so every char I believe starts at low cost).
There are no class restrictions for buying skills. Kamui could have both the Hoshido and Nohr skills. Certain children could have skills they only got through a specific parent.
So playing for eugenics is exclusively about statcaps/growths(if you do low/no grind).
You have a max of 99 slots for that logbook (at least that's what people say).
I think you can add the same character several times.
I haven't tested yet if you could just do the last map over and over to add 5 characters. If you can and are planning to play all 3 games it's best to leave getting children until the very end so you can get different children variation for skills.
So your last playthrough could be characters all with optimal skills + shipping if you don't care about min maxing the stats(which arguably isn't even necessary I believe the difference are somewhat minor for the caps).
Oh goody, it finally came!
Yes, I recently bought a fan-translated cart of FE6. Why not emulate it and not pay anything, you might ask? My computer isn't really a "gaming" one, and anything can go wrong when you emulate. Malware, graphics card blows out, fan….plus I like playing my games on the go.
It works just fine, only some sound bites do not come up or they're too low.
Everything seems to be going fine so far, but it ain't no joke. One time same-turn reinforcements came and offed Thany. Another time, Rutger as a foe criticaled someone. Bors the knight missed TWICE on two 80% hits!
I wonder if I should A-support Roy and Lilina, or take the playah route and have him C-support five of his potential lovers.
No support log or music room makes me sad T_T
