It's worth keeping an eye on San Francisco. By many metrics, this is one of the best hitting Giants teams of all time, with the following caveats:
1. They were playing the very worst player in MLB, Casey McGehee, through May 22
2. Hunter Pence, one of their best hitters, has been on the DL almost the entire year
3. They are playing one of the worst CF in baseball, Angel Pagan, over his highly capable backup, Gregor Blanco
If you look at the All-Star game projections, Panik, Crawford, and Posey are all expected to start based on merit. Belt and Duffy would too in a year where first base and third base wasn't so deep with deserving players.
So far the Giants have been like the Blue Jays West, overcoming league-worst pitching with obscene offense. But they just DFA'd McGehee, DL'd Lincecum, and plan to DL Tim Hudson. So the new rotation will be:
Bumgarner
Cain
Peavy
Heston
Vogelsong
And the outfield looks to add Pence, Aoki back sometime in July. It's frightening enough that the already-stacked, division leading Dodgers are looking to make trades to upgrade as a response.
Regardless, I think the AL will get destroyed in the World Series this year. The NL is top-heavy with ridiculously good teams.
