@Don:
Isn´t that just your opinion on great story telling?
It is. Never claimed to be some sort of universal truth, you know? Mostly because I don't believe that those exists when it comes to storytelling.
… Hmm, maybe I should IMHO at the beginning of every post? Might help...
But yes. In this particular thing, I differ from Oda significantly, because when I'm writing a story, I usually make it character driven, and the thought of sacrificing integrity of one character for the purpoeses of plot seems alien to me. Especially when it seems so blantant.
Call my personal bias on that one.

@Daz:
And verus, easy on the use of phrases like 'big words'. Regardless of it being a pet peeve of yours, it reads as being condescending
I've been trying to cut it down, but it's honestly not easy.
Is it written to be condescending? No. Though the intent can be not as visible in written word as it would be in spoken one.
Call it a pet peeve, call it a bias. I will point out that it mostly steems from frustration with people.
I will try more.

@RomanceDawn:
Dude what is your problem? You belittle me for using a "big word" like "logical" huh? Throwing that in there was obviously to poke fun at you(Darth) but gadzooks you are the worst. What is your agenda? You won't be satisfied until everyone sees through Oda's shortcomings and is as dissatisfied with the series as you are, am I correct? You just can't wait to put things down in hopes of showing people the light. You must have a heart wrenching flash back where tons of people got together at a convention and praised the high notes of One Piece, you said otherwise, they boo'd you out of there and it humiliated you like never before! From that day on you vowed to show One Piece fans that One Piece just ain't no good and Oda is no God! Seriously how close am I?
Never went to anime convention. Went to few fantasy ones, met some wonderful people, had great times.
My agenda? Well, my current agenda is to prove that the more criticaly inclined interpretation of the events is also viable. Not true, viable. Thus, I'm getting progressively more frustrated with people acting as if the "Good" interpretation (i.e. the one where Oda is a perfect writer that can do no wrong and every plot point ever made makes sense and is an example of great storytelling), is a tautology, and thus every person that thinks otherwise "Doesn't get it" or "Doesn't understand it's obvious" or "It's only logical".
And I hate it being presented in a way that clearly says "There is nothing wrong with the story, but something is obviously wrong with you".
@RomanceDawn:
You try so hard to discredit Oda's choices in the story you forget what is right half the time just to make sure he is wrong.
Not really. I've approved of quite a lot, if you recall. Only you always miss those, for some reason. And I do make sure.
If I wanted to discredit somebody, I would have went after Kishi, whose storytelling style I positively despise. And I would be applauded for that, mind you.
@RomanceDawn:
Forget your big words for one second, you over educated politician. Does it not make sense that Fuji's powers caused some sort of(for lack of a better word)"vacuum" that brought brought down the meteor? A gravitational force that more or less went right passed the Bird Cage and to the meteors? I didn't say the gravity couldn't work, especially if applied in a different way, I just said it would be weird if he tried to apply the same type of force on them for it to be efficient.
Sigh There is a difference. I am not arguing that it could not possibly been applied to Bird Cage while it pass through it, I'm arguing that both interpretations are valid.
And yes, when you make claims one is logical, it is a fair assumption you claim the other is not. Mostly because both being logical would create a contradiction.
@RomanceDawn:
I wasn't even going deeper into why Fuji didn't try to use something else on the cage or get more involved just yet. I'll leave that to you, it's your life's work after all right? Your previous life's work as well. In the chapter thread I stated that I think enough is enough, the cage is getting too small now for Fuji not to interfere. What ever the case he is helping locals out and letting things go as far as they possibly can. At this point I think it's too much but I'll wait until the end of the arc when all his motives are clear to give my final judgement.
On that we can agree, since the ending is closing in on us fast.
@RomanceDawn:
And thank you I will have a nice day. The whole week has been in fact wonderful. The high lights were a great chapter of One Piece that almost made me cry and getting hired to do stunts for some Halle Berry TV show I never heard of.
Well, my week was almost as good. Haven't had much luck with One Piece, but I found some other things I like, and academics been great lately, thank you.
