@Monkey:
Other black people can be racist toward other black people as well. Though in that case it has sort of a classist character to it.
Particularly around Maryland where there's large amounts of middle class blacks.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
My dad has an anecdote he tells about his grandfather taking him downtown to "see the wops".
As in "we're better than THOSE ones".
Same story visible anywhere anytime.tldr: black cops can totally profile and mistreat other black people for essentially racist reasons
My grandpa had a similar story but with the Irish.
Hence one of the mantras I follow in life is that anyone and everyone of skin color can be racist and it will continue until the aliens come from space.

C'mon Satsuki, no "My Chinese grandma told me to stay away from Chinatown because" anecdote?

My Chinese grandma never told me to stay away from Chinatown. That's where all the good food is.

China Pearl ftw
Too bad all the good Viet food in the Greater Boston area is in Dorchester

thegreato's kinda right, this whole Baltimore incident isn't really just about racism, it's about being fucking brutal:
D'aww they look so happy from this angle [/sarcasm]

The way the victim's face is just contorting into the ground like that….
The way the middle cop is all ":D"
.....kinda giving me chills.

Can't exactly remember where in this thread (if it was even here), but I believe someone linked in an earlier post some link to a PDF of photographs of lynchings past with folks looking on nonchalantly, giving off an eerie atmosphere.
The photo I posted earlier is resembles them in a very uncanny way.

That was me that linked that PDF and yep not very endearing.

Almost everyone would not lift a finger in such events, people generally want to stay out of trouble and if they think majority allows or even tolerates police violence or abuse of power. When people see guy get mugged other side of street by thugs many will just ignore it and would not even call for help. Of course everyone likes to say that they would absolutely intervene with their ability if they see injustice in person or witness domestic violence in their neighbor hood but sad truth is that most chooses to ignore them and save themselves from trouble. Going to aid a complete stranger in potentially dangerous situation what could be ignored in expense of victim takes true strenght of a person and courage that many claim to have but few possess.
Also people fear or justify their passivity because they fear that law will punish them if attackers get hurt because of them.

Shandian the crowds in lynching photos are a ton of racist white people enjoying essentially a social gathering, except that social gathering involves a dead black person or two.
It's not bystander syndrome. -
Well, in more positive news it seems that another tragedy was averted.
And I've gotta be honest here, I can't help but admire the balls of steel on that officer. Taking out both of them while under automatic fire, with the two assailants in body armor; and doing it with a pistol no less. That shit is impressive!
-

Too bad this wasn't.

I am more astonished by that they were giving 10 thousands dollars for a caricature.

Damn, every time I hear someone 25 and under died I think of how young that really is. Life can be too short for too many people but at least he did a lot of good for his community before being taken away. My condolences to his family.

There's rumors of a call by the Syrian regime for top Alawite families to evacuate Damascus and go to Latakia (the coastal stronghold province of Alawi culture in Syria)
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The war might be entering a point where the government is significantly weakening, actual facts on the ground support this with or without that rumor being true.
One has to start considering what next in terms of the violence.
I begin to actually worry about the Alawi when rebels get control of their areas.
This has nothing to do with religious fundamentalism either. ISIS will slaughter Alawi because of religious extremism yes, but it's a danger from even secular rebels at this point.
It's simple tribal matter at this point "Those asses have been killing us, now they're weak and at our mercy!!!" etc.If Assad sees the capital falling and a retreat to demographically favorable areas we might seriously be looking at partition with Assad taking what (once ironically was nearly independent) is along the coast and being able to hold it. And the rest of the country being a huge clusterfuck of ISIS, Kurds, seculars, and Al Nusra.

They named the new royal baby Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. I like the name Charlotte.

Have you ever read the short story The Lottery? It's a pretty famous story that I think most kids read in school. Based around the same idea.

Mike Huckabee has announced his participation to upcoming presidential elections…again. Creationist, anti-gay and 'pro'-life, just a credible candidate what republicans needed /sarcasm.
I wonder if Chuck Norton will come to support Huckabee again with his pre-historical myths.I guess next US president is decided on democrat preliminaries since all republicans can muster are nutjubs and Bush'es.
-
Tbh I haven't really seen a dem candidate that I'm super excited for either
Everyone seems so old like they're gonna crumble into dust a year into office

Bernie Sanders age doesn't bother me at all.
In fact I enjoy the look it gives him more. -
I dunno if the democrats are helped or hurt by the fact everyones just assumed its gonna be Hillary for the last two years.
And while its true the Republican noms are crazy, that hasn't stopped close races before. McCain almost won when he had PALIN as his VP. That was scary shit. (I honestly think he might have won if not for her. Or at least been a lo closer)
And in some alternate reality McCain ran in 2000 and won instead of Bush and the world is a better place. Or Gore. Either way.

There's still Martin O'Malley hopefully!!

pfffffffffffffffffffft ahahahahaha not likely anymore -
Is Rand Paul running under the Republican or Libertarian banner this time around?
Going GOP will guarantee him a base, but he could easily exploit young peoples' naive and shortsighted desire for a three-way race.
-
Ben Carson just announced I believe. Probably just this election's version of Herman Cain, but I always get a little intrigued when I think of a non-career politician as president.

Jeb Bush is kinda hilarious because ordinarily he would seem like a contender, inoffensive, reasonably moderate for the most part, hispanic wife could make demographic inroads given effort, Florida electoral vote on lock, not insane.
But the family name alone is just going to wreck him unless he goes all out "FUCK MY BROTHER" which he won't do so lol.Huckabee is crazy too because he hasn't even adjusted to the widespread "I disagree with gay marriage morally, sorry but it's just the way I am" that lots of Repubs have. He's still whole hog riding the fire and brimstone train on it like it's 2004 still. It's hoesntly bewildering why he thinks he has a chance to win, these Republicans still seem stuck in that Reagan-Bush jr era where evangelical stuff got you somewhere, but now that Millennials (and younger!) are part of the voting demographic that shit just doesn't fly you anywhere anymore.
All he's going to do is contribute to pulling the Repub primaries hard right and muck things up for the couple of them who want to stay moderate in the public eye for the main election. -

Speaking of him… is there really not a single legitimate reason to vote for him? Besides those like my conservative parents are going on and on about how "America needs someone like him to bring the USA back into its GOD FEARING PATH and away from that GAY AGENDA" (yes there are still people here who believe that gay agenda shit but I suppose that's what you get for a country that still hangs to freaking Sect 377A (anti-gay law) like an unlockable dog :/)

So the UK provided the weird old homophobic laws, and we supplied the evangelical missionaries to back it up.

McCain almost won when he had PALIN as his VP.
Eh? Obama's margin of victory was the sixth largest in history by popular votes and eighth largest by the electoral college.
-
Fox News actually APOLOGIZED for mis-reporting the news. How shocking.

Eh? Obama's margin of victory was the sixth largest in history by popular votes and eighth largest by the electoral college.
I misphrased a little.
My point wasn't that Obama almost lost. Its that McCain STILL mustered up like 50 million votes (which in a normal election would have been 49% rather that 39%)and a good chunk of the electoral college, even with Palin as his VP.
Having a crazy person on the republican ticket does not automatically kill all voting, or guarantee a democrat win, and that's scary.
Obama also won the next election by a comfy margin… but the Republican side still turned out in force... and managed to win the midterms.

It had the opposite effect, really. Before Palin joined the campaign McCain had been written off as a boring loser by the mass media and the american public.

Between the manufactured controversy on the ACA and the fears about the Evil Black man coming to take your guns, the midterms was always the democrats to lose it's the 2014 midterms some of us are still taken aback with.
-
and managed to win the midterms.
The party that controls the Presidency almost always loses in the mid-term elections though; there's only been three elections since 1910 where the President's party gained seats in the next election and they still had a net loss of seats over their time on office.

Yesterday, Dilma was supposed to make a speech in national broadcast, but who made the speech was Lula, this did not prevent the Panelaço to happen.

http://entertainthis.usatoday.com/2015/05/06/oh-no-you-must-see-the-updated-hipster-version-of-the-hamburglar/ I find it funny that they re-vamp Ronald McDonald but are not making any commercials with him in it and they even created Happy the Happy Meal and I don't see him anywhere and they decided to re-vamp the Hambugler to look like a child molester. McDonald are sure killing themselves.
