I can't follow the power levels in this manga. Every time I am surprised by how strong a character is. Were those three supposed to kill a red demon with that ease? I mean, Griamore's attack pretty much took care of it by itself, and it was such a casual attack.

Ban took out a similar one by himself though.
With no Sacred Treasure. -
That's like saying Neji should be able to defeat an enemy easily because Minato did so.
Ban is a Sin - he didn't had the title back when he fought the demon, but he already had the power… I think -, Griamore is, as far as the story depicted him, a second/third rate Holy Knight.
Even without a sacred treasure, the Sins are many leagues above Griamore. -

I felt a similar way. I can come up with several reasons why Ban might've had a worse time than the knights taking out the Red Demon, but this is the guy who destroyed the entire fairy realm and played an important role of two sins' past. And here he is, killed in one chapter. From a story perspective, it feels off.
I'm curious where the albions fit in. Red
-
Ban wasn't that strong back then. He was more or less just a really strong human bandit with a standard nunchaku but nothing super amazing. He was only by himself so no sparring partner to train with
It would be more weird if he was already sin's level at only 23 years. Ban ain't a fairy, a demon or a giant with centuries of experience
There is nothing wrong with the red demon strength -
It's not like 3 of them took him out with their bare hands or something.

I think there is no coherence in power levels. Being so, I don't pay attention to it, because all the other features of the series are that good, that it would be a shame not to read it.

Grimior just made sure the explosion would go out in the demon face. So technically it is the red demon power who blew his face. As for little Gil he supposedly is comparable to a great holy knight(who are able do fair well against the sin).

That's what happen when youngster comes into the job.
New enemies? Old enemy become negligible. I'm the first to fine that sad.I'm curious where the albions fit in. Red<grey<albion<commandments?< blockquote="">Red= Trashed by sins
Grey= Pain in the ass for a sin
Albion=ultimate power from a sin.Red is definitely he lowest. We can't really compare the grey to an Albion as the sins were battling Hendrickson as a group and he put a good resistance to them when the Albion were fought by sins giving their best(at least king). Do it's up to personal ranking I guess. Commandments are on top. No doubt on that.</grey<albion<commandments?<>

So, I just read the first two chapters and I enjoyed them enough. Would this series be something that you highly recommend or is it only ok?
-
Highly! Go for it
-
Just do it, motherbuzzer!
-
Well, if you can just go past some stuff, it is an excellent series.
And, as far as fighting choreography is concerned, it is amongst the best, period.
-
Yeah in terms of action and fight scenes it's in a league of it's own, especially considering it's a weekly series.
-
Adding my own voice to the chorus of yeses, and I'll also add that the series has some compelling and sympathetic characters. Be sure to read the side chapters for occasionally important stuff on some of the Sins.
-
I won't call it or insightful but when it comes to being enjoyable it sure is highly enjoyable. Cool characters with good back stories, great personalities, good interactions between the main characters , good powers, great fights.
-
…and exquisite art. Things people complain about: power levels, sexual harassment and some other topics related with sexual topics. Some people don't like romance topics (there are some important plot lines related) and other people do enjoy them (here I am).
-
The plot is horseshit, you can find anywhere on the road… the fights motion are great. If you love shonen, read it.
-
The plot is average. Neither great or bad. It works for the media without trying to hard.
The sexual harassment is pretty apparent and fairly present. It's mostly one character focusing one particular girl but he makes up for every other pevert that could be around by constantly doing so and they are both on the main cast.
The romances are pretty sweet. They can create awkward feeling but it's unlikely to stick out enough to trouble your reading and minor enough to still appreciate the pairings.
Power levels are introduced way later on but make for his absence by being everywhere a good 15 chapter later. There's still a talking pig and I doubt those point are good enough for it to not be enjoyable. Expect if you're searching for heavy stuff.
-
The plot is great for a shounen. And the author does a very good job in creating mystery keeping the story believable.
-
The plot is simple, but simple doesn't mean bad. It is well executed for what it is, and it avoids a common trap of trying to be clever and failing miserably.
-
I'm surprise to see you as a fan of the sins Verus.
-
The art, and interesting designs make the series for me. Plus, I was quite a fan of Kongo Bancho, his previous work, so I've had nice experience with the author thus far.
Plus, with One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach trying to be clever, and failing miserably lately, I founded that I enjoy something more straighford and simple, for a change.

Correction: Naruto tried to be clever.

Hey, we still got a movie in works.
… Or is it already out? I despise that series, so I'm not keeping up with it.
-
20 chapters in and I think its fairly mediocre. Good mediocre, and long running shounen series rarely start off brilliantly. I'm willing to keep reading it for a bit, it's likeable enough.
-
If you are not a shounen fan, such titles are not really for you.
i’m not sure you will like it later more. The 20 first chapters introduces already Ban and King. -

Oh man, you're just starting my favorite arc now. Hope you enjoy!

New chapter is out. I'm ready to read the next!! Well I was ready long time ago…
! to read an explanation of Hendricksen and Dreyfus's change of attitude. I hope it will be about it.

You should link to the first page rather than the last.

What is this? RH scans this early? Thanks the druids.
-
Ash Demon is probably around the 3000 mark in PL because Hauser tore his arm off, Im interesting in the flashback, hopefully its not that long.
-
You know, this might be the first flashback segment this manga had outside of Ban Gaide, King Gaiden and Vampires of Eidinburgh.
-
There is a fair chance we get to see Hendy meeting Estarosa, or who was the said that Hendy replied back with "That Voice…?".
-
Those druids sure have a lot of useful power. I'll note Drey and Zara having different mother. I wonder what was his real power if purge was simply a purge. Dude is fairly relevant for a guy dead before the series even started.
Fight was too fast and pretty meh but at least shell guy doesn't magically forgive his father's death.
I hope the flashback will be interesting. @KageKageKing:

You could say it's the first one not sin-centric. I expect the awakening of Fraudin and what he is doing to Dreyfus+ the reason that made Hendrix who he is.
-
I'll be honest, the fights from these past two chapters haven't really done it for me. I feel like they've lacked the intensity and physicality that make the series good. I really didn't care until the very end of this one.

Maybe its because we already saw these two same fights before, but with way less chapters.
-
Grey demon was uber nerfed…but that Purge, though?
I'm definitely hyped for what's coming next.
-
50 chapters in now and…I mean...I'm kind of loving it.

So what changed your mind ?
Last chapter was really good once again and the flashback looks promising. The purge power seems to be a bit overkill, I wonder if we will learn more about how it works.
-
Another forest was introduced… viva.
Flashback time again, guess demon things are going to be revealed out.

We might also get some info on Melio's rampage and Liz's death.

Nakaba won't be that generous.

So what changed your mind ?
Mostly, I find the characters likable and their interactions interesting. Toriko is one of several series that I read weekly and over last few arcs, which have taken place with the four heavenly kings as a unit (Mugiwara style) the weaknesses of Toriko's characters have been exposed. Their interactions are so shallow. They've lost a lot of the personality that made them interesting when they were used more sparingly. In contrast, I really like the way the characters play off of one another in Nanatsu no Taizai. Their dynamics are really fun and fluid, they all retain who they are and have a unique relationship with one another. Character interaction is one of One Piece's strengths too, though many would argue, with some reason, that it was largely better pre timeskip and that Oda handled six lead characters much better than he handles nine.
The little tournament arc won me over as well. There really is nothing more shonen than a tournament arc and done well it they can still be a lot of fun. It's basically the ultimate shonen cliche and its very hit and miss. For example, I'm really liking Boku No Hero Academia's current arc but I strait up dropped Fairy Tail coming out of one of its tournament arcs because I hated it so much.
I still don't think this is brilliant, it's not doing anything that I haven't seen a million other shonens do just as well but it is very much on the good end of mediocre and I'm happy I found it. I'm pretty annoyed with Toriko at the moment and I really needed a fun series to get me out of that funk.
-
Nakaba won't be that generous.
I'm sure for Liz but we should get something on the rampage since that's what they are investigating.
-

We might get some small bits of info on the incident, but it's mostly going to talk about Dreyfus and Hendy's descend to darkness.
-
Is there supposed to be a chapter released today?
-
Not exactly. Magazine #21-22 was a double issue which meant this week was supposed to be a break.
However, because of the Golden week, #23 has been moved from May 6th to May 1st, therefore spoilers are already out and both the official release and scanlation should follow sometime later this week.
-
You want a spoiler? Here's one, confirmed btw.
! Hendrickson and Dreyfus head down the bottom of the crater in Danafor. There they find… Fraudin, who immediatly leaps to take over Dreyfus, but the HK is capable of resisting him. Unfortunately, Fraudin later sets his sights on Hendrickson, and Dreyfus is forced to surrender and submit to him. Thus Fraudin becomes Dreyfus as we know.
! And now the bomb. Six years prior to this event, Fraudin...
! killed Mel's old lover, Liz…!!!!
