Man this episode WAS all over the place on a technical level. First off, the animation sucked the big one with very, very few exceptions. Never thought I'd say it this soon, but last week's had superior animation overall, though that's not saying much…this week's just looks even cheaper.
Art styles were literally all over the map like they had 3-5 different artists doing their own takes on characters. Fujitora looked drastically different in multiple shots. Sometimes they looked rather good (in a stylized way) other times rather crap. Much better batting average than the animation though. Direction was kinda decent in some scenes (Koala fighting) but it mostly wasn't good enough to offset the mostly bargain basement animation.
The Koala filler was easily the best part, even more surprising that Toei dared to showcase something as significant as Koala's first fight that hasn't even been shown at all the manga yet. Animation was pretty dodgy, but there were some decent trick direction choices to hide it better (ie the slo-mo).
Next episode looks far more promising.

Edit: Just watched the episode, it was all over the place and covered half a chapter. The whole glasses thing was odd, the G coming from the mouth.
The glasses were hilarious, but that G coming out of Trebol's mouth was weird. Should have been done by Lao G himself. Not…quite right for Trebol doing it.
