@Cyan:
"Xth Person" chapters don't mean shit about anything.
JEsus Christ what is with peoples fixation on them.
Normally I'd agree, but the fact that he held off on Usopp's for 400 chapters makes me wonder.

It was a fun little reference to the other "Xth Person" chapter titles.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
@Hamburger:
Would it be out of character at this point for any Straw Hat to have second thoughts about being a Straw Hat, you think? I was thinking about Robin and Chopper not having their "Xth Person" chapters yet, and had the idea that they might get offers from the Revolutionaries and Kaido respectively, and seriously consider them. Thoughts?
Yeah, not gonna happen. All of the crew members have a bond that isn't going to be broken by offers to join other groups.
It would be bad character development overall.
@Hamburger:
How do you mean? I was just thinking of ways they could get their chapters…
It won't work with Robin and Chopper because of their personalities. IT's like thinking something would make Luffy think of giving up on being King of Pirates. In other words it will not happen.
Why? It's simple.
Robin = 1- She already had a moment of leaving the crew back in Water 7, Oda's not gonna rehash that for the same character.
2- The SHs are who showed her that people can care about her and want her to live, they declared war on the World Government to get her back. Luffy is he one to make her realize and say she wants to live. Before that, she was merely existing. She even gave up on living in the tombs of Arabastra but Luffy saved her and dragged her to the surface. She's not going to be leaving the SHs.
Chopper = similar to Robin, SHs showed him that he wasn't a monster and was someone worthy of having friends. They are the ones give him the desire to follow his dreams and leave the only home he's ever known, to leave the only living person to treat him as family until then.
The SHs are more than a crew, they are a family. They are the one crew that's like the Whitebeard pirates in that the crewmates are more than crewmates, they are family. Even the Redhaired Pirates do not have that sort of reputation, great friends& allies, yeah but as a family? Nope none of the characters in the OP-verse describe them that way. Its reserved for WB and SH crews.
That's why the idea of Robin and Chopper leaving is silly.
Oda has already done "person x leaves the crew" 3 times (Nami, Usopp, Robin) and they weren't that far from each other in the series, all was before it reached 400.
IT won't happen with established characters now that its reached over 770 chapters
At this point in the story a better source of tension in the crew would be them arguing over moral issues. For example, imagine if Dragon influenced Robin to use methods that were more violent than other crew members were comfortable with followed by a situation where such methods saved someone's life.

I'm actually expecting this to happen between Luffy and Dragon, but it will be good to see the Strawhats having some serious conversation about moral issues, but I'm not expecting it to happen. It's more likely for Luffy to have this type of argument with Law than having it among the Strawhats.
How is Luffy supposed to eat with rubber teeth?
How is Luffy supposed to eat with rubber teeth?
How does he see with rubber eyes?
As for your question, he mostly inhales his food…
So his teeth can't stretch?
Cannon pls…
Tires are also made out of rubber, imagine even more concentrated material and you have rubber teeth.
Also stronger user gets stronger power gets as you know.
Luffy most likely with haki bitten through chains on Punk Hazard- an example its fine with rubber teeth to chew stuff, even iron.

He ate a cage back in thriller bark. I doubt he used haki for some silly chains.

I wonder what Gin's been up to? Assuming he's still alive of course. In East Blue he was actually stronger than Sanji, so if he's been training I could definitely see him being New World-level now.

He was stronger than a Sanji who had allowed himself to be mercilessly beat to shit by Pearl, and lost his Gin fight after kicking Gin's ass but having some sort of internal injury spasm.
What were the chapters that Smoker fought Vergo in?
I'm trying to show someone that Smoker and Sanji didn't do terrible.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Nevermind I just found them.

Thanks Desa! Your are right with that cage eating
So Luffy was like that even before, interesting

Feel free to correct if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sanji vs. Pearl pretty even before the former took a dive? And Gin beat Pearl in one hit…

Sanji had little to no trouble with him.
And Gin took him out with that one hit after Pearl too had been damaged a bunch, including having a whole mast fall square on his head.
What characters or arcs/aspects of the series do you get really defensive about when someone criticizes them if any?
What characters or arcs/aspects of the series do you get really defensive about when someone criticizes them if any?
I dunno if this is the same thing, but the whole Outskirts Battledome "tier list" types sometimes say stuff that kinda rubs me the wrong way. Stuff like saying Zoro's stronger than Luffy now, or that the pre-skip "weak trio" and Robin were weaker than the likes of Krieg; both are common opinions there.
What characters or arcs/aspects of the series do you get really defensive about when someone criticizes them if any?
People calling Jaya a side arc.

people saying Robin is boring for not talking much.
people calling Skypiea a boring arc.

Definitely this!
I guess I should answer to.
People saying Sanji is weak or useless when he's actually done a lot of useful stuff post skip. Also people saying Smoker is shit now.
People calling East Blue bad or saying it only got good at Arlong Park. Also saying that Skypiea and Thriller Bark were boring or bad but mainly Skypiea.
People saying Luffy is a Goku clone.
Calling Bellamy or Nami bad characters. Bonus points if you call Nami useless or a slut.
Calling Oda a bad artist.
People who argue that Bartolomeo will definitely join the strawhats.

you can add "annoying bitch" to that.
you can add "annoying bitch" to that.
That's another thing the Outskirts Battledome people do. They call her "Namicunt."
What characters or arcs/aspects of the series do you get really defensive about when someone criticizes them if any?
When people jump to conclusions too soon regarding certain events that pay off later.
Some recent examples:
• Usopp vs Sugar (it led later to one of the best moments of the arc, if not timeskip or ever)
• Doffy flashback (some people thought that it was done with only 2 panels, smh)
• The mera mera reintroduced (dudes who believed that Luffy could eat 2 df, or that someone of the strawhats would betray the crew to get it, seriously how can someone even come up with it?)
• Gladiators (people that thought they were just "fodder" or "waste of time", never to be seen again after each block in the colosseum was done)
These are some of the most evident things that show how jumping to conclusions too soon will just prove you wrong later on.
What characters or arcs/aspects of the series do you get really defensive about when someone criticizes them if any?
I lose my shit everytime someone says OP is bad because the characters are too big and/or too ugly.
Another thing is how some people bash One Piece as just another shounen were mangaka has no idea how it will end and just keep on adding more stuff to keep it floating.
@Hamburger:

All I had to do was take a peek into that forum to realize how silly it is (Luke Skywalker and Voldermort vs. Loki and the Dragonborn). Quality matchups right there!
As for me, people judging the entirety of an arc before it's over. Things get turned around and have payoffs that may not have seemed like they could have them before.
I think people who think Zoro is now the strongest Straw Hat annoy me especially. Mostly because I can kinda see their point and this annoys me.

And their point is? Nothing really points towards that at all.
@Galaxy:

The evidence usually used is that Zoro has yet to go all-out post-skip and use his strongest technique, Asura, while Luffy has.
I've never gone along with the Zoro is as strong as Luffy crap, the only evidence for that was a semi-gag scene 650 chapters ago and every fight since then has indicated Luffy is stronger.
Greg said there's supposedly something in the Yellow databook that some have taken to mean they're equals, but he also said it was being quoted out of context. Anyone know where it is?
How do you feel about Cavendish?
I thought that he would be a fairly popular character but it seems like Bartolomeo is dominating in that regard and I see more people either being meh towards Cabbage or disliking him (though not much). Maybe it stems back to before his block when people were saying he would probably be fodder which I didn't understand then and still don't understand now.
I'd say he's my favorite new side character post skip along with Kyros.

Think it's probably since his appearance he doesn't seem that reliable an ally. Hakuba is a downright hindrance. His attitude towards the Straw Hats seems nuetral at best and he has no strong ties to anybody else in the arc. He compliments Barto perfectly and his panel time has been both funny and seems naturally paced.
I'll enjoy seeing him in the book & look forward to seeing an origin or remaining as a foil for Barto, but he's not compelling on his own for me.

Wait till Cabbage personalities will fuse one day <though it="" might="" never="" happen="" and="" he="" stay="" random="" evil=""></though>

I don't see that at all but it's a nice interpretation.
Cavendish's interactions with Luffy have been some of my favorite parts this arc.

People also believed Sabo to be dead because of one of the databooks.
Woe to those who those who cite the databooks as evidence for anything.

Still, it'd be lovely if they bought out translated copies for us western fans.
before monet tried to sacrifice herself for doffy, she believed that doffy will be the pirate king. what do you think this means? i think there are 2 possibilities for that:
1. doffy actually wanted to be the pirate king. there were times when he actually enjoy being a pirate with all the adventure that he share the same dream as most pirate, to be the pirate king. in this case he genuinely want to be the pirate king. it's just that lately he is too busy with his business that he started to forgot about this dream of his and monet believe that one day doffy will pursue this dream again.
2. he lied to his crew member (except for the top executives) about wanting to be the pirate king. he simply did that to recruit people who actually want to part of the pirate king's crew. knowing how strong doffy is, they believe that doffy is capable of being one and so they join him.
what do you guys think about it? i know we wont get definite answer till oda himself explain that to us but i just want to know your opinion on this.

I think wanting to become the Pirate King could be Doffy's answer to the rejection he got from tenryuubito after he brought them his father's head. If he can't be a god, then he'll be a demon.
Anyone know how long by months/years every arc till now lasts?

So how long are One piece arcs in their universe? A couple days? Also how much time is taken between arcs?
