@Galaxy:
We'll probably go ahead and edit Dressrosa Episode 18, as Yibis will probably release 667 soon.
And after that? East Blue Saga or Sabaody Archipelago Arc?

It all depends on Crunchyroll.
Great episode, great plans!
Am I hearing things or you added the Mulan theme from KH2 during Jean Ango's scene ?
Anyway you guys are the bests, I really liked Punk Hazard, but Dressrosa is on a whole other level.

Indeed we did :). It was sort of a joke at first but it fit so well we decided to add it. Also thanks!
Hmmm, not much of a fan of the new, shortened openings. Something just seems missing to the song now. :( Oh well, besides that, I love everything you're doing, and I can't wait to get either A. Dressrosa Ep 18 B Romance Dawn Episode 2 or C Sabaody Episode 1. All of those sound very exciting.

Yes, you're right, the thing that's missing is Toei's crazy idea of how they expect things to go down between the main villains :P. To me it just seems like pointless fanservice that really doesn't add anything to the opening. It might also be that you're missing the guitar solo which I can understand, because without it it seems just a little less good, but we just had to get rid of those silly fanservice shots. I might try to implement the solo sometime in the future if it works out, though.
If you could try and do what you did with the Blackbeard segment (i.e., fitting in cool moments to fill up the music) that would be great. When I say something's missing, I'm just referring to the flow of the song. I think cutting out the fanservice-y moments fits the theme of the project, as you're trying to stick to the manga, but I just would like the song to be intact, as it were. (That said, silly as it might be, I enjoyed the flashy animation in the fights, but I get why they shouldn't be there) Speaking of which, in the far off never-future, if you do V2's of Dressrosa for who-knows what reason, would you edit the older episode's openings too?

It's not like the flow is totally interrupted though. The lyrics flow because the singer sings the same lyrics in the transition for the most part.
When the v2s happen, the old episodes will likely get updated too, yeah.

Even if we didn't cut Toei's version of the song it would still be incomplete, the actual song is even longer. You might just be used to listening to Toei's version and anything else sounds odd to you, it's understandable.
I saw on Trello, that you guys are doing the older episodes. But why name the next episodes "Alvida"? I thought, that the first Arc is "Romace Dawn", which are in the Manga the Chapters 1-7.

Chapter 1 is Romance Dawn.
Chapter 2 is Alvida.
Then Chapters 3-7 are Morgan.
Is Alvida also going to be in widescreen based off of Episode Luffy and possibly other episodes?

I had to include some 4:3 scenes so no because making it 720p would mean cropping and stretching them.
Crunchyroll FINALLY put up those last 6 episodes just now. Any change in plans in light of this?

Yep, we got them. The plan is to prioritize Sabaody and beyond over East Blue (but we'll still release the ones we finished).

Awesome! thanks for all your hard work, I'm really enjoying these paced episodes.
Hope that one day you guys will have turned the entire series into one pace :)

if that ever happens, it will be a couple of years before that happens :P
Hey guys. great work as always. But, might I ask, why "Romance Dawn" "Alvida" and "Captain Morgan 1" haven't been labeled as "Romance Dawn Episode 1, 2, 3, etc?" I believe that these chapters are all classified under one arc, even all together it's a very short arc, I think that 1 chapter arcs would be just too short, and the whole thing kind of makes sense as an arc, that is what the wiki classifies it as anyways.
Also, I wonder about the neccesity of some of these earlier episodes being adapted when they were paced pretty well. Sure, there are some canon issues, but they are relatively minor. I have downloaded, but haven't watched the Alvida episode yet, and I could only imagine things being cut out, such as the Nami scene, the Ballroom Scene, and the moment where Luffy breaks swords with his arms. (lol) Even with all that though, it can't be edited to be just like canon, because despite how good One Pace is, it can only cut stuff. You can't change the entire setting from Alvida's ship attacking some cruise ship, back to her little hideout island. So even with the minor changes that could be made, it still can't match canon terribly well. I suppose I'll have to judge for myself, once I get a chance to watch it.
Now despite me being underwhelmed about the East Blue adaptations, I am very excited to see what you'll do with the Whitebeard War Saga, especially Sabaody which seems to be next on the to-do list. Sabaody was probably one of the better animated arcs in recent One Piece (recent being the past 4-5 years lol) but of course the pacing was still an issue. I can't wait to see the One Pace adaptation of these coming arcs!

This was something Galaxy came up with so await his response. I think it had something to do with the chapters being very separated from each other.

We had nothing to do at the time. We were waiting for Dress Rosa fansubs and the remaining CR episodes, so we did some of the east blue episodes for fun.
I thought for a long time about skipping Alvida, because it wouldn't be close to canon even after editing and there would be some continuity errors like talk of Zoro in the end even though he was never mentioned earlier and obvious switches between HD/SD. In the end I decided to release it anyway although I was far from satisfied just to have something between morgan and romance dawn. If toei ever recreates that chapter properly, I will do a better episode that is more canon and less awkward.

Sabaody and Dress Rosa is on the priority list right now, so don't worry about any more East Blue episodes :P
Also, I'm a bit curious about the process behind One Pace. Do you guys re-use Funimation's or a fan-sub's translation, or do you do the work from scratch? And for comparison to the manga, do you use Viz's translation, scanlations, (like Mangastream or Batoto) or both to some degree?

The credits for what translations we use is in the opening of every episode, but the majority of them all is Yibis.
When I compare to the manga I compare the two raws and see if the lines match up for the most part. If they change a line into something else with the same meaning I go to whichever site that hosts One Piece manga.
Enjoyed the East Blue saga! I like how you did it, understandably the Albida one is quite short though.
Can this be uploaded to youtube?
I see well that sucks..
Have you ever thought about a karaoke for the openings? That would be great!

I don't really know how that works so sorry :P

Why would you do that? Do people actually sing to japanese cartoons intros?
Why would you do that? Do people actually sing to japanese cartoons intros?
I suppose some people do, but they're mostly for aesthetic purposes.
In any case, we won't be doing it because it really isn't necessary.
Why would you do that? Do people actually sing to japanese cartoons intros?
I wouldn't doubt it. Lol
I do! Sometimes!
I do too, I don't see why that would be weird, I'm pretty sure foreigners sing our songs as well.
Why would you do that? Do people actually sing to japanese cartoons intros?
Yes, I do and I like it.
I just wish you your dad will never walk into your room while you're doing that.
I just wish you your dad will never walk into your room while you're doing that.
It's just a song, the language or which product it is from isn't important, don't you ever sing?
Anyway we've gone a bit off topic.
I just wish you your dad will never walk into your room while you're doing that.
Funny you say that, as my folks are cool with anime, and would sing along as well.
Are you sure you aren't the one who has a problem with it? Don't be such a wuss, I'm pretty sure you've done more embarrassing acts in front of someone, other than singing some song.
Thanks, much appreciated.
@Mr.:
Thanks, much appreciated.
No problem.
With the holiday season coming up, our schedule may be a little more erratic (faster at points, slower at points). We'll try not to fall too far behind on those Dressrosa releases though
eh i'm more looking forward to the sabaody ones.
eh i'm more looking forward to the sabaody ones.
Sabaody is probably going to turn into weekly releases since Toei seems to be moving back to 2 chapters equals 3 episodes for Dressrosa.
I'm watching the episodes I hadn't watched yet, and it's incredible just how much better the anime becomes with a good pace. Watching them on a TV screen also makes everything look better, I definitely enjoy One Piece like this.
Just checked Alvida Ep& Captain Morgan Ep1.
Alvida:
What I liked ā¦ Alvida's Introduction at the beginning is a nice impact factor.
How it could've been even better...
If Coby's "No regret! No regret! I said the truth! I fought for my dream!"shot from Ep1 is inserted before he's about to get crushed by a club, maybe the scene had gone more intense. But yeah, it could be a little hard since both scenes took place in totally different ship area.
Morgan Ep1:
What I liked... How you guys treated with Kuina's past, very compact but still, very emotional. I was so glad to see you didn't end Sensei's line by "Yes, you can have it" cause you know, the scene could've left with halfway feeling. I dare say that first I kinda thought Zoro's training shot before Kuina's death report is just a little bit short, but we can hear the sound of it in the next depressed kids's, so that's just fine.
How It Could've been better...
1: I do understand you wanted to erase the closing gate's sound, but Helmeppo leaving Zoro's place ->Zoro's close-up seemed a little bit sudden because the stupid son's laughing stops quite immediately.
2: Even though it's just a single picture in the manga, deleting the entire Pet Wolf scene seemed decisive and overdone at the same time.
The plot could've stay if it was edited like this;
"Move it! Make way for my cute pet! Anyone who refuses will be excuted!" Wolf burst through doors
-> Cuts to the close-up of the wolf (& grinning Helmeppo) attacking Rika & Zoro kicks its ass
"He's done it now!" "This means trouble!" -> End of flashback (whole scene:less than 20 seconds)
Also I found a tiny error on subtitles. neat add-on though.
āę§ęć¢ć¼ć¬ć³ćāÆę§ęć®ć¢ć¼ć¬ć³
Additionally, errors from Dressrosa Episode 12:
07:04 āč»éčŖæććāÆč»éé·
07:05 ćāć¬ććć«ććāÆć¢ććŖć¢ (now that's a major flaw)
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to watch Sabaody Isles Arc comfortably.
P.S. I found a font kinda resembles the one used during new character's introduction in a manga.
(The exact same font is for sale so I can't just send a same thing)

"M1 bold" should be close enough.
