Dofla really has a thing for over the top destruction in his attacks. In that sense I suppose Law learned from the best.
Chapter 768: That trigger on that day

robin vs trebol. She'll learn haki or knows it already. GIVE IT TO ME ODAAAAAAAA
-
I like this game of senseless vs's
My turn;
Wicca vs BurguessWicca equals 16 Cavendishes, strong enough to handle 1st commander of yonko.
-
Robin vs Wicca.
Both awaken haki in the process and become minimum 4 Cavendishes stronger each. -
Wicca equals 16 Cavendishes, strong enough to handle 1st commander of yonko.
The best part about Cavendishes is that they're subject to inflation. I'm sure not that long ago 3 Cavendishes were equal to 1 Cavendish, and if we see him again Cavendish will be as strong as 4 Cavendishes. The question, of course, is whether Hakuba has always been equal to 2 Cavendishes or if he was once worth more Cavendishes. It's safe to assume that a Hakuba will always be worth more than a Cavendish, but will a Cavendish ever be worth more than a Hakuba once was? What sort of interest can we expect? The Cavendish market is pretty unstable right now because there are a lost of barriers to explosive growth, but don't sleep on it! Stick with it, play your cards right and you could end up spinning yourself several Doflamingos!

why is there blood on dofa's hand? isn't haki hardening supposed to give invulnerability to its user? does it have to do with how law was able to cut vergo in his full body mode? -

why is there blood on dofa's hand? isn't haki hardening supposed to give invulnerability to its user? does it have to do with how law was able to cut vergo in his full body mode?No it just hardens the body, the stronger the haki, the harder you get. At least with armament hardening that is.

i want the next cover story to be about vergo and monet but damn, senor pink's adventure would be a great one as well. many wont be able to handle his hardboiled-ness though.

We'll most likely get a Punk Hazard affiliated cover story next, but damnit do I want a series of hardboiled adventures after that.

Brownbeard grave-digging adventures.

Parasite won't work on Law.
@uniaka:
So, so, luffy won't solo Doflamingo as the general opinion goes. I knew Doflamingo needs teamp up.
And I find it wierd that doflamingo got wounds from both law and luffy and din't even think about his most hax move 'parasite'.
Oda was unfair to Sanji, Doflamingo used parasite on him so fast he knew that is the only option to stop a beast like sanji from going hard on him.
Robin is going to help the dwarfs free Mansherry, and she will fight whoever guards the girl dwarf. Jora is my pick.
What dont people get. Parasite and the spider web type move used on Sanji are two different things.
One physically stops the person. The other (parasite) emters the human body and overrides the nervous system thus controlling it
Those with strong will dont get affected by parasite. Its clear as day.But yes. This a little BS. Although i like the fact tthat Law has damaged Doflamingo so people can sit amd shut up and not speak about "stamina" when Dofla nearly killed Law. Law was simply outclassed.
If anything Dpfla has been getting distracted, getting news amd suprise attacks.
However this Flashback for me has destroyed the Doffy hype. I wonder if others feel the same.
-

It doesn't have to be actually on Punk Hazard, just involving a character or characters that were present during the Punk Hazard Arc.
So Monet/Vergo, Brownbeard, The Yeti Cool Brothers etc.

But you know, it does hurt a little that we cannot say his victory would be 100% thanks to his strength. And so with every other fight thus far.

There was a creaking sound in the first panel. It means his fist was already hard. He was probably just a moment late with coating his fist.

So Monet/Vergo, Brownbeard, The Yeti Cool Brothers etc.
The Yeti Cool Brothers has to stay mysterious, like the real Yeti.

Why? Because of Law's lack of stamina at each certain point in time?
-
Why? Because of Law's lack of stamina at each certain point in time?
That and his wounds.
I mean… first time he beat him he had a freaking Admiral with him. And since then, every fight they've had, it's safe to assume that Law was fighting under handicap of either low stamina, or wounds.
I simply cannot consider him that threatning for now, to be honest.

I wouldn't have really counted the incident on Green Bit, since we didn't even see how Law was incapacitated and like you said, it was 2 on 1.
The incident on the bridge though…Law is clearly not so badly wounded that it would be a major handicap, and he still uses several facets of his DF ability during the battle, indicating that he still has a reasonable amount of stamina left.
Doffy just absolutely outclasses him in that fight, smacking Law around seemingly at will while only receiving a superficial cut on the cheek in return.
-
Law being fresh probably wouldn't affect the outcome all that much.

Does it feel that way to you? I mean, about amount of stamina left? Cause it really does not feel that way to me, if I have to be honest. And the fact that Law has been mostly dealing damage and not taking it this fight… does not look good.
I will reserve my judgement till later, but I have terrible feelings regarding final of this arc.

Well Law's powers are meant to be hampered by a lack of stamina, but he's still been rooming and shambling the shit out of everything he sees.
That doesn't suggest a shortage of stamina to me.
Law has finally landed a fairly major blow on Doffy after quite a bit of fighting between them over the course of this arc.
Doffy has still dished out way more damage, even in this specific fight.

Seems like Doflamingo has been hit directly twice, red hawk and now by Law. He looks pretty healthy overall, while Law looks like he's pretty beaten. I do feel that the fights may not be as good as they should now that we've gotten a bigger picture of the whole family compared to any other crew before, so we shall see about that. I think best case scenario is a 2 on 1, mainly because Law should have a big presence in this fight, and if they are going to work together to take down Kaido, they will need to learn to fight as a team.
-
knock-up stream?
Nah, I don't think the knock up stream has any involvement with the cover story.

This is Luffy's first major opponent post-timeskip, I just can't see Oda making that a 2 on 1 matchup tbh.
I think it's more likely that Luffy will free himself just as Doffy has incapacitated Law and is about to deal the finishing blow.
Then we get to see the full extent of Luffy's powers after 2 years of training Vs. Doffy.
-

I know that it is the first major battle, but it would seem appropriate that if things are going to change in how things will be done, this would be a good time. With the trickiness of the DF, as well as the clone, I could see Luffy needing some help. I'm also with the others that would like Law to play a major role in winning, because he has big stakes in it.
-
I don't see Law holding it out that long. Even if Oda is stretching his stamina as far as he can, it has to give out at some point.
It will probably be Law doing enough damage for Luffy to have a chance after he takes over.
Like Darth, I'm not sure I'm going to like how it gets handled. Like I've mentioned somewhere else, I'm starting to fear we've already seen Luffy's best fight in the series. Hope we haven't.

it depends on what will be the role of law in the future of the story. is he going to be one of luffy's antagonists or will be a major character of the supporting cast of him? that's important storywise for the development of their relation.
if law's going to support luffy then sh has to rise above him and so oda will make him beat dd after law's defeat.
if he's going to be a contender then oda will probably make them beat together dofla, law already told luffy he's not willing to forgive he messed up their plan attacking too early with the red hawk and that could be deepened in that case, creating a rivalry or something.let's wait and see, that's going to be fun

I would keep in mind that we didnt seen what Monster Trio can do when they really go all out. They had no resolve to do so yet.
With Time Skip series gotten restarted in a way so same as in first part we are step by step more and more impressed with Luffys fighting. For really great fight I expect we must wait until Kaido arc where Strawhats lives will be at stake.
Right now Law has more motivation and "heart" to fight with Doflamingo than Luffy. Law fighting with resolve to kill Doflamingo is doing better than Law that was fighting to buy time for Strawhats to work on rest of plan.
Luffy fought his best imo at Enies Lobby when Robin life was at stake and when Lucci said he will kill all of his nakama.
That was for me most intense fight and kind of peak of fighting in OP. Real danger should come when facing Yonko and Kaido looks to be known for killing crews(Moria for example).
And Doflamingo doesnt seem like somebody who fears death so when Law and Mingo talked and Law mentioned reasoning with Kaido impossible Mingo probably started to sweat bullets because of fear for his entire crew.
Oda lately is using really a lot of time for Doflamingo family members and I do expect even if its not for us to feel for them its to get us used to them in a way to make us feel bad about Kaido slaughtering them all.
I know that Oda doesnt kill people if it doesnt make sense from story perspective but It would make sense if we consider what Moria went through with Kaido before and as he mentioned Nightmare awaiting Luffy in New World. Its not that all attention and anger of Kaido for loosing smile will be directed at Law and Luffy only. Doflamingo will be first one to answer for what happened, along with his crew.
So I would not expect Doflamingo vs Luffy to be something more amazing than what we seen till today because of Luffys not "highest resolve" ever and fact that Doflamingo and Luffy, both of them will be quite wounded.
Luffy was pretty deeply slashed as it looked by Bellamy and he taken some beating from Mingos clone and Doflamingo gotten Red Hawked and now Injection shotted.Fight should be awesome but Doflamingo and Strawhat dont have as much of enemity ongoing between them as Luffy had with Lucci or Crocodile- 2 best fights of first half of One Piece for me.
Luffy sees Mingo as big scale bastard that needs to be stopped and his friends enemy so its more of an enemy of an enemy that also messed up with me thing than anything else. -

Actually, the anime is NOT cannon, and I don't watch it, but apparently during the anime version of the bridge fight Law's stamina did play a part and he started to have trouble creating a "stable" room as the fight went on. We don't know if that was Oda's initial idea, since we don't know what part of the anime is total filler or actually something Oda thought of but had no time to implement in the manga (like Crocodile getting his fancy clothes back during Impel Down), but, yeah, there's that.
-

It will probably be Law doing enough damage for Luffy to have a chance after he takes over.
Regardless of stamina, Trebol won't stay idle forever and he barely broke a sweat so far. Any minute now he'll regain full control of his powers and when that happens, chances are Law will get his ass handed over to him once more. Unless Robin or whoever comes to interfere, of course.
As for Doffy receiving damage, it would be beyond awesome if Luffy could take both him and the string clone at the same time. Now that I would call a good fight. I'll still be content if Law manages to remove the clone while not doing any significant damage, though. The last thing NW Luffy needs is someone who does his job for him.
-
Has Law used injection shot before? Is there a chance he has some type of substance used with the attack? I believe it was the attack he wanted to use on Trebol to take him out before the flashback, but Doflamingo stopped him. I just don't remember if said attack was used previously.
-

Yes, it is the same attack he was going to use before the FB and it may have some sort of after effect on Dofla, but knows.
-
Luffy against Akainu, should that happen in a fight-to-the-end type of scenario, will be intense, I imagine. Though I'm always more fond of fights where brute strength is the deciding factor, like with Lucci. Then it's just a matter of willpower, whereas Luffy's fights against Doffy so far have been figuring out his abilities. If Kaidou just has a Zoan or whatever, and no fruit that gives him hanky panky abilities, I'll enjoy that immensely.
-

Not really. I was just being sarcastic there, although I wouldn't mind if Vergo and Monet actually stay dead.

Hmm, interesting.
However, as you pointed out, we can't really rely on the anime.
Even at that, we still saw enough of Law using his ability during that fight even in the manga, if it was a major idea that Oda wanted to implement, then there was definitely (funnily enough) room for it.

He could still play a major role in the fight without being physically involved.
The way Usopp made a big difference toward the end of the fight between Luffy and Lucci.

Really? The show is just starting, but again this is not a fighting manga.
Could have fooled me.
In most manga I've read, generally fights have been a lot better in the first half. Then characters get special powers and it all gets more flash and less substance. Thanfully One Piece is a little specific with it's weird abilities and how they interact.
Not really. I was just being sarcastic there, although I wouldn't mind if Vergo and Monet actually stay dead.
I see. Personally, I like Vergo's type of fighter and it would be a shame if he didn't have another fight.
-
Eh… what? Come again?
It's not a fighting manga.
The story doesn't revolve exclusively around fights.
-
It's a manga that has fighting and is a pretty important part of the story. There was no arc that didn't have fighting in it.
It's like saying it's not a pirate manga because it doesn't revolve exclusively around pirates.

The answer has already been provided, but it seems like you didn't know that and that might be why you're always expecting the Marines to kick everybody's ass.

It has fights but the manga doesn't revolve around it as much lets say Bleach, this manga is more about history and soon to be political.

I'm not contesting that it has a lot more going on than just fights. But most of the problems are solved by beating someone up. You could say fighting is a prevalent theme in OP, because there's a lot more fighting than exploration and politics.
And I'm not sure what Bleach is anymore, lol.

The last time we saw Trebol he was in several pieces on the floor. Law was planning to use Radio Knife on him but I thought that Dofla stopped him before he did?
Maybe he did get a few swipes in. Regardless of whether they're permanently severed or not I think at some point soon we're going to see some mini-Trebols or Trebol-lumps enter the fray. He was pretty high powered before and this may have evened things out. -
it may not be a fighting manga but i would pick any fight in one piece over naruto and fairy tail's best fights.
