at least he doesnt suck as much as yuki.
Eyeshield 21 Discussion

Well, it looks like Hiruma's weird low-flying Hail Mary pass is now dubbed the Hail Devil Pass. :D
Man, I really hope that next game the HaHa brothers (especially Juumonji) get more screentime.
-
Aya this game is something serious I can't wait to see that bastard Anjo get what's coming to him from Sena & Hiruma.
-
Yea, the Hah brothers need more time, although Juumonji was pretty important a couple of chapters back.
-
Yeah, but so far that's the ONLY good scene he's gotten in the past like, two games. And it only lasted a few pages.
They need some serious competition in the next game for the HaHa Bros to shine. And considering it looks like it will be defense experts Oujo, that is exactly what they'll get.
-
I'd personally prefer to see Toganou and Kuroki doing something pwnsome, I mean, along with Ishimaru them two seem to be the forgotten people in the team lol
-
Juumonji also took out the dual horn guy from the gunmen. He might face the crazy guy from the knights next game. Though it might be mini-k's turn to shine. He hasn't had a big moment since posidan.
BTW. I been lurking for the past few pages. Thanks for showing me mangahelpers.
-
Komusubi? I think Poseidon was his big and only time to shine. I doubt they'll give him something big again. Poseidon was pretty epic.
It's true that Juumonji had a little standoff between the Buffalo guy from the Wild Gunmans, but he hasn't had any real spotlight time since volume 5. The Linemen in general need more screentime.
still thinks Juumonji will succeed Hiruma as team captain
-
Dunno why but I could see Juumonji getting Shin's position (isn't it different from just being on the line?) and handling the ball a bit more, which brings me onto my next question, is it just Juumonji who knows the Juvinile Delinquent Murder Method? Or do Kuroki and Toganou know it too? From what I saw in vol 5 and 6 I thought all 3 knew it, but it seems that only Juumonji uses it.
-
I'm pretty sure that Kuroki and Toganou have used the Delinquent Deathblow as well, I just can't remember where.
-
This post is deleted!
-
I think all three know it. I mean pretty much all chameleons had the ripped shirts, but I don't think they ever really used it in a game. Remember after the sphinx game the two of them were still considered failures.
-
they know it, they're just never highlighted using it.
And I dunno, it seems to me that for the past couple games Kuroki has been getting a decent amount of attention, panel-wise. (he also got a new hairdo for the Kanto Tournament, unlike Juumonji or Togano)

189th Down
! looks like Agon still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.
-
Doesn't look like Ikkyu is reacting well to his lost. And Monta never did his little pose. Maybe's he getting more, well not mature, but focused.
And a Ghost from Agon? Shouldn't have been surprised.
-
Alright, Monta is officially the badass of the week!
-
! Dragon Ghost !! Agon kicks ass. He is one of the better enemy's yet. I really dislike shin because he has no emotion and nothing to him at all, but Agon is a crazy egotisical son of a bitch and i love it.
-
I looked at the kana, and the name "Devil Bat Ghost" is still used.
The end was pretty surprising. And it's good to see Monta start to step his game up; that frame of him catching the ball from the stands was awesome. It looks like Monta really got to Ikkyu, he seems to be really unglued. And Shinryuuji seems pretty shaken in general right now; with good reason, Deimon's probably given them the most fight out of anyone they've ever played.
-
I read the manga. I am aware of what it is called but it is more appropriate to call it the dragon ghost considering the imagery is of the dragon at the end.
-
I know, I'm just saying. When I read it, I was pretty disappointed it wasn't called "Dragon Ghost" or "Naga Ghost" or something.
-
Maybe they will name it in the next chapter.
-
Definitely one of Monta's shining moments. Just how cool was that scene of him catching the ball coming in from behind him? And Ikkyu is taking it a little better than I thought, although he says that he won't forgive himself. (yay! No blaming Monta, but himself. Good character, Ikkyu!)
Agon = damn. How much more deus ex machina can he get?
Oh, and I must say I like Sakuraba's new style. It's a nice medium between his J-Idol look and his "butch man" look.
-
Agon deus ex machina like? this is eyeshield. One should expect anything and everything if that bitch yukimitsu can become good.
On a more serious note, he is the "tensai" agon, of course he can do that.
-
Well, a weak player becoming decent after months of training is more believable than someone who does no training and eats junk food, yet maintains a perfect physique. So, yeah, I'm feeling the Deus Ex from Agon.
-
I just hate Yuki, period, which is why i used him as an example.
I agree with Agon being perfect despite doing nothing about it but that kind of thing comes with this kind of manga's territory. Its the same thing as Brian Hawk from Hajime no Ippo and probably countless other examples. However, i think the term "deus ex machina" is misused here. It was established from the beginning of the series that he was godly so seeing him actually be godly isnt anything knew. It isnt like he is coming off the bench in the middle of the fourth quarter without any mention about him. That would be deus ex machina-esque.
-
Eh, maybe the term deus ex machina is being misused here.
Yeah, his talent has been played up since the beginning of the series, but it's still pretty infuriating/annoying (at least, to me). I just hope he has a meltdown like Hawk did. Hell, maybe he'll go into a seizure and burst into flame, like Shishio.
As for Yukimitsu, I don't like him either, but I'm glad the authors decided to do something with him, because it would be pretty shitty to conceptualize a character who does nothing but sit on the bench and cry. When he came out, i was afraid he'd be way better than he should've been, but he was still just a decent player at best, with a good head on his shoulders, and a shitload of luck
-
I expect an epic meltdown for Agon. As much as i like his style, he is bound to have his head explode when he loses to deimon.
-
I've just realized that whenever a Field Goal is made they don't raise a net behind the posts to catch the ball unless that's something they only due in the pros or something.
But referring to the chapter
- Raimon looks badass on pg.11
- Will Sena lose his will to play after having a technique similar to his
DBG used against him (Sena has done the exact same thing to almost everybody he's played against.) - I really hope that wasn't Hiruma on pg.18 standing next to Raimon
because the look of surprise on his face looks weird.
-
I think it is Hiruma because the only other person it could be is Taki but i dont think he has a 1 in his uniform number. Also, the surprise is well founded after having seen someone do a technique, that took the best player on their team a long time to pick up, like it was nothing
-

It wouldn't be the first time a technique has been used against the creator/user in a sports manga. It's already happened several times in Prince of Tennis.
-
It still looks weird you know unlike his expression in ch.187 now that was funny.
-
Whoa… Musashi slugging Hiruma amazed me. I have no idea why he did it, but I have a guess or two.
And man... looks like Agon's meltdown is starting. Awesome.
-
Yea, I must say I was suprised when he hit him, though it will have been for a good reason.
And was that Kuroki actually doing something there!?
-
Getting his ass kicked by Yamabushi, apparently
-
Basic rundown:
Sena's leg starts hurting again, and Doburoku says that if this continues Sena may injure his leg to the point of losing it. When Musashi hears this he slugs Hiruma in order to protect Sena from being forced to play. However Hiruma says the only important thing is to win.
When play starts Shinryuuji was going to start the Dragon Fly again, but Sena manages to rush in and grab the ball from Unsui. Which leaves Agon just standing there with no pass coming to him or anybody paying attention to him. Hiruma says that Agon isn't the sort of person you can ignore, which is exactly why they WILL ignore him (well, to the extent they can). Apparently Musashi slugging Hiruma was all an act, perhaps to throw Shinryuuji off guard? I dunno, I need my dictionary.
Either way, Agon is PISSED at being ignored.
-
So, where does that leave Sena? He really needs to rest his legs. Does that mean that now that Agon has lost his focus, ES21 can rest and the team can score 2 touchdowns from there? And how much time is left in the game?
-
Well I have started reading scans and I'm on chapter 115. Amino just freaks me out in more ways than one. Demion would have won the game agaist Nasa if Panther wasn't put in. Oh and I think that one of the funniest parts in the manga is when they go to Las Vagas to pay off their trainer's debt and the Hun brothers all lose their money and keep on having to go to the pawn shop.
-
Actually they woul'dve won that game had Sena not collapsed.

Enjoy =)!
Btw, next weeks chapter will have color pages =)! -
HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME.
Damn… I never would've dreamed.
-
THAT WAS GREAT, WELL DONE SENA!!!
That b*****d Agon got what he deserved but you can't write him off yet.
Thanks for the link Puma.
-
Hehehe. Agon finally gets his ass handed. Nice.
-
Wow, just, wow. That is one of the most awesome things I have seen in a while. Makes me wish I could read japanese.
-
SWEET!!
Quickie summary from a skim read:
Sena's going for the gold, and everyone is encouraging him on. Monta makes a comment on how he's been running for 16 years, he can win. Agon catches up with him, of course, and goes to karate-chop him for the ball. Sena tries to protect the ball with his body, remembering how Riku told him how they live to protect the ball. But as Agon is going in for the kill, he says "Game Over." Which prompts Sena into thinking of how Hiruma and co. have suffered because of Agon and how they're all trying to get to the Christmas Bowl. And when he thinks of how Agon looks down on them, he snaps. He goes to try and push him off, but he's not strong enough, which Shin comments on. However he keeps going, which makes Shin realize how much of a "Warrior's Spirit" he has. he pulls a Devil Bats Ghost, which Agon follows. However as Agon reaches for the ball Sena reaches behind him and pushes down on his head. Technically it's in a blind spot, but Sena is reacting on impulse. Because it's his head, Agon can't fight back. Sena succeeds in brining him down.
COOL!!
-
Wow I read volume 1 and i love it. Damn walden didnt have 2 >>. Also how do you pronounce Himura's Ya-ha (or how does the seiyuu do it). Is it like enel's yahahahah. Thats kinda how i do it.
-
more like YA~! HA~!
-
All of this is making me anxious for 192 just to see Agon's reaction to being
OWN3D. -
This may sound sacreligous, but I am wondering how many more chapters this game is going to last. If this play results in a touchdown, They will be one touchdown away from a tie game.
-
Since everybody has been patiently waiting for it.

Comments: Agon's reaction to being put down by Sena wasn't what I was expecting (I was kind of expecting him to be more angrier with mean look on his face to match.)
Also Agon has more tricks of his sleeve only this time he'll need the assisstance of Ikkyuu & Ugon to carry it out.
