Captain "Shazam The Rock" Marvel
DC Movies Thread - Shazam saves the day
-
-
The Rock confirmed he is playing Black Adam.
-
Meh.
Its great casting, sure. But… he was even BETTER (perfect even) for the lead?
Who the hell are they going to cast as Captain Marvel against him? (Though I guess with that part split in half we'll have a bit of an incredible hulk situation, so maybe it won't even really matter.)
Well, he wanted to be Adam so I guess its for the best.
-
It's over, everyone. Pack up your bags and get off the Rock Shazam hype train…
-
Info on the screenwriter:
Lemke most recently penned the “Goosebumps” script for Sony; his past credits include DreamWorks Animation’s “Turbo” and “Jack the Giant Slayer.” He is repped by UTA.

Hopefully the final stop isn't in Sacremento:ninja:.
-
Well, thats a resume that inspires… uhm... confidence?
They really have no idea what they're doing there do they.
-
Eh, I was always in the group that wanted The Rock to play Black Adam. He clearly wanted that role more, and I think we'll get a great performance out of him doing something he himself is so keen on.
Now it IS a really curious question as to who will be playing Billy and who will be playing Captain Marvel.

Gonna cast Stone Cold Steven Austin, and have the Rock and him recreate their classic fights in the WWE, but, with superpowers and silly outfits.
-
Can we get Patrick Warburton as Shazam then? He was great as the Tick and is good at the cheese, AND he's a big guy.

So you mean the WWE?

Too good and logical and cheese for DC Movie universe

You mean Patrick Warburton would be acting like an overexcited little kid while punching things?…
This is the best idea in like, forever. Make it happen WB! I will see the movie 12 times!
Patrick Warburton for Captain Marvel!!

The only one with superpowers and a silly custom in the WWE is John Cena, thank you very much.

New Line: 'Shazam' will have 'a tone unto itself' and 'a sense of fun' | Inside Movies | EW.com
So the movie is under the New Line banner of WB, technically. And Toby Emmerich (head of New Line) says that the movie will have "a sense of fun and a sense of humor," which either ends that "no jokes" mandate, or establishes that any DC movies not under WB proper may still yet be free of the doom and gloom?
I'm not entirely sure why they'd split the superhero brand across different labels like that unless they really aren't trying at all for a cohesive universe. Sandman is obviously gonna be seperate…
Tv actors can also do movie roles. Long as they dont film at the same time.
But he's too perfect a choice, so it won't happen.

I can see why they would do this, but at the same time it seems like they have no idea what they're doing and have very little faith in their product. Seriously, unlike Disney Marvel. WB has got (I assume) the entire DC universe in their hands and yet they're thinking about setting up different lines because the TONE is different? Can't they just find a middle ground and try to tie in a cohesive narrative in a grand universe? I mean it's not like they have to go to extremes for both their movies in terms of their tones.
Sigh…

What they haven't revealed yet is that this will actually be a sequel to Kazaam, and Shaq will be the lead character.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing Channing Tatum as Shazam. I think he can play a child in an adult body. However, he is going to be Gambit and would most likely have to get bigger so it probably wouldn't happen, but I think it would be a good choice imo
-
Thinking about Channing Tatum I could see him playing Captain Atom.

He's going to be Gambit? Where was that said?

Steve Austin playing Shazam would be funny as hell.On a different note, who ever they pick to play the kid I hope he can act. Like, really act. There's nothing worse than watching some inexperienced kid recite his dialog verbatim while trying to look like it's naturally flowing from him i.e. The Last Airbender Movie.Yikes
-
Honestly I feel like in the TLA movie, it was more poor direction than the kid, but that's just me giving the BOTD

To be fair, as I have no idea who any of the actors were in that movie, I would attribute it mostly to stupid directing. Shammyman has a gift for turning any actor into a dreadfully stale schmuck. Case and point = Will Smith. 'nuff said.
But yes, a decent Shazam movie really needs an effective child-teen actor with enough energy and charisma to pull it off. Though I can't think of too many 12 year old-ish actors that are able to do it on the top of my head.

To be doubly fair to Night, to me, After Earth seemed to have him on the team because if it worked well, then hey, Night gets a boost. If not, then they have Night as the scapegoat rather than pin down that Jayden is a mediocre actor.
Not that I've seen it, but it sure looked that way
-
If this were the 80s, Captain Marvel would be played by Hulk Hogan. But I digress.
Rock as Black Adam is perfect. (Type casting-wise) I honestly couldn't see him playing Captain Marvel since, as charismatic as he is, he's more fit for serious intimidating characters. Captain Marvel isn't serious or intimidating, at least in outword appearence. Despite his nu52 redesign, Captain Marvel will always be a 10 year old kid at heart and act accordingly. Imagining the rock in the outfit (might be cool with the hood) and acting like he's a kid seems… awkward. And frightening...

Pec Pop of Love
This is downright entrancing.
-
The new Batmobile revealed.
!
It does look pretty cool. -
Mix up of the tumblr and the form of a usual batmobile, huh. Pretty good ngl
-
More transformer looking garbage. What happened to the sleek Batmobile of the Paul Dini era?
-
How is he supposed to park that anywhere? It looks too big for alleys and too heavy to perch on the majority of the crappy buildings in Gotham. Is there a Wallmart parking lot in Gotham?
-
Is it asking too much for something along the lines of the one we see in the animated series in the 90s, but slightly sexier? That thing is bloody huge…..and seems like it'd take up the entire road if ur driving in it...
-
Isn't the film taking place in metropolis??
That car could work there -
Meh. I think it's funny that it's got a freaking machine gun on the hood though.
-
'Cause detectives need it.
-
Maybe it's because I was setting my expectations pretty low, but I think it's pretty good. I don't think it's the best design by a long shot, but eh, they could've done more wrong
-

Yeah, that just looks too clunky and awkward to feasibly maneuver around in.
The Arkham Knight Batmobile, on the other hand, is sooo much better.

The animated one was pretty close to the Burton batmobile. And while they looked nice, the sheer length of them was insane. They were like stretch limos, that can't have been all that turnable or reactive.

It's a forced perspective shot going into the camera, with nothing else to really give it scale. There's no telling how big it is.

"I don't use guns. Except when I use them."
-
Hmm I dunno… that looks like something I would have drooled over for hours and hours when I was an eight year old at a toy store.
But then I drooled over a lot of things I guess...
