@Ouroboros:
For you people who don't understand why we find Rebecca so offensive, I'd like to remind you that the key to Rebecca's character is realizing that everyone around her won't always be around to protect her, and that she has to one day be able to protect herself. Her mother died trying to get her food, her grandfather and aunt were in no position to help her, even her father flat out said that he won't always be there to protect her, and that's why he's teaching her how to defend herself.
But along comes this chapter, and it throws out everything about Rebecca. She gives any attempts to fight or defend herself, and screams for her father to help her. Then Kyros just swoops in and all but says, "Hey Rebecca, do you remember me telling you all that about you learning to protect yourself, because I won't always be here? Well you just go ahead and forget about that." All those chapters building her character up, only to be thrown away in that span of five pages or so. What a fucking waste.
I have to agree with this. It's not that Rebecca had to win, and it's not the fact that she was running away, but it was the execution. While in a number of cases this arc, I could look past skipping stuff and filling in the blanks, this scene was quite jarring. I know she wasn't going to be confident fighting Diamante, but at least dodging and maybe trying to throw him off balance to get away would've been nice. I think if there was a good part of the chapter dedicated to her at least trying to dodge and fight because it's still a need to fight, but she doesn't want to, I would've been fine. I still like her overall, and I think there will still be a chance for redemption, but it lacked execution to make it good, or even not bad.
@kirei_lanford:
I now get rebecca's character. She actually never wanted to be a fighter from the 1st place. He was kinda feel "forced" back then by his dad, when doing the training. And also kyros knew it from the very start that her daughter's character is like that, because she very much resemble his late wife's character. But we should have also known since some time ago, shouldn't we? Since we know Rebecca really never intend to hurt people, even when she is forced to defend her life, she never hit but only evade and defend. I think that doesn't reflect her strength, it reflect her hard will to not hurt people. I think it's a good side of her, not mto ention it's a woman we're talking here. I just remembered kenshin himura, although that's a "slight" different case lol.
I agree with you, but as I said above, it was just poorly executed, like the Franky kiss from a few chapters ago. We've seen what some of her abilities are, and it would've been nice to see her at least dodge the attacks. While the situation calls for her to not be at her best, it still is a bit jarring. And while it is a realistic thing that can happen, it's just bad when it does throw out some of her character that we have seen. There is still more of this arc, so she will probably get redemption. I don't mind Kyros saying that she doesn't have to fight anymore, because no good Father would want their 16 year old daughter to have to fight like that, especially when she never wanted to in the beginning.
Overall it was a great chapter, with another overall great last page spread with a free Law. I liked Robin sprouting a bunch of big hands, which reminds me of Byakuya's Bankai, and her facial expressions and the things she said were awesome. I'm really happy with the Sabo Vs Fujitora stuff, which made Darth happy. When Fujitora said he had a title he had to live up to, it was like he was talking directly to Darth.
