I wonder what the maximum range and amount of clones is he can make. I can see him making a few clones when Luffy confronts him for the final battle, but Luffy destoying them somehow with his COC
Chapter 752: "Palm"

-
I'll throw my theory I've had for a little while for the clone, which includes a bit about the Bird Cage. I'll be upfront and say this theory is based on information we haven't been told, so it's not a way for me to debate other people, nor does it make everything acceptable, it's just what I think and if is the case could clear a few things up. The thing that we don't know is how the strings are made, but my best guess is that he produces it (which this page shows the string coming out of his hand), and there is a limit to what he can produce at once.
For Doflamingo to make clone, and bird cage as well, we would have to spend time over a period producing his own string to make the clone. If this is the case then Doflamingo can only prepare a clone over a period of time, and this chapter implies that after the Bird Cage, there is only one clone. It's also safe to assume that he can only fully control it within a certain range. Overall we need to learn about the limits of his devil fruit to get a grasp on how everything can play out. I assume that Doflamingo can only control so many people directly (I'd go with 2, 1 for each hand). If that is true then we can assume there might be one more clone. For the Birdcage, I assume he had to constantly reinforce the string to make it tough.
Like I said, this is speculation, and it has it's flaws which would have to be answered, but it's my guess for now.

@A:
Looks like we might get to see Jinbe and Vivi interact soon. Pretty good chapter; don't like hoe Doflamingo is underestimating Luffy and it will definitely bite him in the ass later. Something worries me though; how freakin sharp are DD's strings!? Let us not forget that Kelly Funk's body broke a haki-infused axe; yet, DD's strings cut right through him without the use of haki. On top of that, it was a string clone, which is sure to be weaker than the actual DD, so this makes me wonder how Luffy is going to fight.
The first time I saw that kitty I thought the exact same thing. All im wondering why the heck is it in New World?!
Rather than those hyped strings I think it will come down to which one of them has stronger CoC. We might even see a new aspect of this power of the chosen ones.
It's also a possibility he might learn how block piercing attacks, as his fight against Hody heavily implied he eventually would, but I bet that's going to be saved for Wano. -
If you think it's plausible, that's fine. I think it's an asspull. At least until there's a good explanation.
Yeah, ok, maybe Dofla can change color of his strings, that would be nothing to rage about. Maybe he can transfer his voice via some string too. That's fine as well.
But then we get into the shady area, where the clone sweats and changes facial expressions like a boss. And it looked like Dofla can see what is going on, what with him blocking Luffy's punch. Maybe it just mimicks Dofla's movements, but how can he see? It's not something I can just dismiss, like Nami's clones, which were just optical illusion.
I won't lose any sleep over fiction, but I'll damn well discuss about it in a dedicated forum.
We know he can change the color of his strings. That's the point of his Goshikito move.
And how he sees? Obvious answer would be CoO.
And hey, maybe the sweat is also made of string too.

You know, I hope that Kaido shows up in the arc and does absolutly fucking nothing. After all, we arleady saw Whitebeard fight, no need to showcase that Yonkou are powerful, right?
I don't care if he is an admiral. I don't care if he is marine. You don't hype and build-up a character, and the let him go completly without any pay-off at all. Doflamingo's comment holds about as much weight as Luffy's comment about Smoker being strong: namely none, because he has no achievements to go with that!
And if you didn't intend for him to be one of the main antagonist of the arc, THEN DON'T BLOODY WASTE A PANEL TIME ON HIM!
Seriously. Amount of time Fujitora is panel is second only to Doflamingo, out of all antagonist this arc. It is not wrong of me to expect him to do something. Not to showcase Admirals, but to showcase Issho "Fujitora", a brand new character.
Darth.. He is an antagonist, he will be used for the clean up at the end. The analogy doesn't make any sense. Fujitora has showcased his powers so we have a taste for later on. Just like Aokiji on his first appearance. Kaido is different to WB and we've seen nothing about him at all. We arent gonna see Mr K come go off and get defeated without screen time..
Fujitora at this stage is someone people are trying to figure out, he could stop going after Luffy/Law and go for DD or leave DD and go for Luffy Law.
Just because your favourite character isn't being displayed the same way you would expect him to be hence your high expectations, doesn't mean we all need to hear it. We all would like to see a bit more to Doflamingo, thinking we haven't seen enough or have unanswered questions now is pointless.. Just wait, judge Fujitora at the end of the arc. He's not the main antagonist here, the main man Doffy is.

If one thing impresses me most about this forum, it's how a chapter thread will constantly devolve into talking about a character they've been talking about for the last bunch of chapters, when the Bloody character wasn't even part of the chapter. Geez people, I know there isn't a lot to talk about after a certain point, but this is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, It's great to have these conversations, getting to know other people's opinions and reasons for why people like/dislike certain stuff. It can add a lot of value to a work, but after a while it gets tiring. How about we discuss what's going to happen after this arc? I'll start.
They sail to Wano to meet up with the rest of the crew, where some of Big Mom's crew is trying to find Sanji's group, but the Samurai won't let them. Kinimone arrives asking about Momonosuke, and they take him there. This will probably be a small arc where they fight some of Big Mom's underlings. From this arc it will begin the stepping stones of going against Big Mom.

Wait what?:wassat:
He is assumng that the lost sea kitten is the baby of that big sea cat we saw in alabasta. Therefore, he expects jimbei (and his coverstory) to converge towards alabasta to take back the lost kitten, meeting with vivi by the same occasion.
Atleast that's my take on his post.
-
Yeah, makes more sense that Jinbei arrived to Alabasta waters in a day, than that sea cats live in other seas of the world or that this cat was caught and brought to New World or was a kid of a cat that was caught and brought to New World.
But then Oda doesn't just put in details like this randomly. Maybe the sea cat will reveal a sad story or something. Could be anything at this point.
Alabasta doesn't have any connections to NW, aside of Crocodile, that is. So who knows, maybe he'll appear in Jinbei's story, or that cat has something to do with him. -
Mhm makes me wonder, how fast can Jimbei actually travel? Like it took not so long for the strawhats to drop all the way down to fishman island and then go back up in the new world, so for a fishman… Is it safe to assume he can go twice as fast if in a hurry?
I think so.
Also makes me wonder, why doesn't he fucking swim lol
-

Who knows what he's carrying with him. I saw some big bag there. Maybe it's some special candy to please Big Mom, or something else that wouldn't survive getting wet.

God damn you know what, very well might be candies lol, I wonder when in the timeline that flashback is happening. Is it currently you think?

I wonder what was Vergo doing back when Law showed up.

Now there's a question. Since we saw Jinbei reading morning paper, his cover story could be taking place the day before, after he dropped Caribou off, or currently, after he read the paper and decided maybe to go to Dressrosa and help.

I highly disagree. Fujitora has not showcased shit. Which precisly why arguments over him being weaker then previous three has been breaking out since his first appearance.
It's not like he is facing Yonkou, for crying out loud.
@Pk:
Fujitora at this stage is someone people are trying to figure out, he could stop going after Luffy/Law and go for DD or leave DD and go for Luffy Law.
Or rather he would've been, if it wasn't rendered moot by Sabo. And if he's just used to clean up afterwards, then it speaks of his inconpetence more then any words.
@Pk:

You know, you are right. Let's all just stop discussing anything chapter related until the arc ends. That's why we have those chapter threads for, after all.
More to the point, I'm very glad Doffy is the main antagonist. You know what we should do then?
STOP WASTING TIME OF FUJITORA IF YOU WILL NOT HAVE HIM DO ANYTHING!
But, of course, I can be completly wrong, and he will do something. Perhaps give another empassionate and insane speach while the city is burned by Sabo around him.
Do not answer to that post, I have no desire to speak on the topic any longer. Hell, the only reason it raised it's ugly head again is because every one thinks I'm obsessed with marines and marines only, even when I speak on completly unrelated topics…
-

Yep that's what I thought, if we say it'S right after he dropped caribou off to G-5, he's right by the redline

Random thoughts on the string clones.
Maybe the idea of Doffy talking through the clones are based off sending sound vibrations through the strings, similar to this
!
and the string clones themselves I think are based off those string voodo dolls
!

You know, I did say that I was gonna post more of my thoughts on the chapter in detail but screw it. I'm not in the mood right now.
But I will say this: Seeing kid law with those grenades is kinda creepy. O_O

Ohh no I figured that much, I just got lost because of her believe that Jimbi might go from the New World to the beginning of the Grand Line

The Voodoo doll thing was already taken by another character…one of the supernovas...remember?
-
I'm not that disturbed by string clone to be honest. But it's far-fetched. I mean if Doffy is able to manipulate his strings at a molecular level you gotta give it to the guy. It's just hex the way it is right now. It can disturb signals too. Kind of like, Magical Fruit… Voicing can be done through strings no problem there by the way. All the sounds are vibrations at the end of the way and since his body is the same it's plausible it's going to resonate similarly with identical overtones.
Why other characters never displayed such feats with clones? Maybe they didn't have to. They didn't aim for something like that. Had no use for it.
When you think having a clone is especially useful for a character like Doflamingo. And since Oda doesn't use the clone-card in his series obsessively I find nothing in it to be outrageous about it.
And you can make carpets with strings too. I know. I have done it. And since there is a transaction to a fantasy world where we have a genius in using strings. If it was something like Coco from Toriko which makes a clone through Poison that would be stupid. But it's not.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
And Doffy is a funny bastard: "Why does this suddenly all feel routine?"
-
dd clone reminds me of yarn kirby and yoshi.
-
people should seriously try looking at things from fujitora's POV, he's already having a hard time against the dragon claw.
-
@Buggy:
maybe Law killed his parents like DD killed his father
Definitely a maybe, but I'm leaning towards them being killed via whatever war is happening in Law's town or radiation/illness that kiddy Law has. Of course, we won't know until next chapter so all of this is educated guesses. I'm also going to assume that the flashback takes place in North Blue (since that's where Law's from) and with that in mind, hypothesize that North Blue is the most violent sea out of the other Blues.
-
So I'm guessing since the flashback is about to start this will be the last chapter included in Volume 75

Back with another review =D for Chapter 752:

I have to say, I'm always baffled that people can reach such one-sided conclusions with so little being shown…

I have just learned we don't get to have a chapter next week. Wasn't this early? I mean I thought we had two weeks before a break. Lost track of time mb.
Before things go to 'Whitebeard vs Akainu level after Ace died' much of things will be a speculation. WB Commanders fought equally with Admirals too for a time and majority thinks they are not Admiral-level maybe with the exception of Marco being able to hold his own more firmly. Akainu's fight with Aokiji took 10 days… It's logical to think most of it was preparation for the hottest moments. Rather than Sabo being able to hold his foothold against an Admiral we don't know much. And why I'm keep explaining/saying this. It shold be and is Mr. Obvious really.
CNet's translation... Anyone care to give a link for them? It would be better reading them. And if CCC you're still reading here can you give a hand on the last page of this chapter? With the White City reference it already started to sound fishy.

If I recall correctly, the break this time is because Oda leaves for Tailand. So yeah, it's just an event, really and not those regular breaks he took thus far.

Agreed with the bold part. The most we can say at this point is that Sabo is strong enough to not be taken out by an Admiral really fast, like the supernovas did against Kizaru. It's nice to know the Mangakas do get times to make trips as well where they don't have to worry about work. I can imagine after writing and drawing you want time off and see places.

I dunno, man. He most definetly won't be taken out in one shoot, but we did saw that all Admirals need to win is a moment of distraction.
Also, who else found the fact that Sabo, of all people, is burning the city down ironic?

That's what I was trying to get at. I think named characters in the New World should at least be able to hold their ground against an Admiral, and by that I mean not get taken down less than a second after being seen. Defeating them is a whole different story.
-

Hmm…
Again, I dunno. If Blackbeard Pirates, powerful crew led by New World weteran, can be one shooted by Magellan... Considering like Admirals mowned down New World pirates during the War... and considering the only members of Revolutionary Army we know off got off-screned by Akainu...
Honestly, I think the right to hold your own against Admirals should be reserved to precious few, even in New World.
My own opinion, of course. Feel free to disagree with it.

I get what your coming from. I said in a previous post that where characters are in relation to others are out of whack at this point with the time skip. Most of the Black Beard crew is hard to gauge at this point, because we haven't seen them go all out. I guess at this point it comes down to what you mean by hold your own. If you mean by a drawn out fight where each one comes out severely injured no matter the victor, then I'd agree with you. I'd argue if you mean they couldn't at least survive some hits and still be standing. Obviously at this point it's mostly speculation, since few characters have been shown their full potential or even have been shown at all.
-
No, we had more then enough of that before. An overpowered protagonists is boring. And I like these "Hey, did you really expected this to be so easy, just because you are facing the first half-decent opponent post-TS and not a yonkou yet" scenes.
@Semi-Charmed:
It's a recurring pattern in his fights. I'm sure he'll be fine by the time of his actual fight.
I'd just like to see him standing toe-to-toe with a strong opponent post timeskip. It would help exemplify the results of his training and it would be nice to see doflamingo's smile wiped of his face
-
Ok my personal take on the chapter. I have not done this for a long time. If someone bothers to read it so be it :P
First there is a cover page. Jinbei traveling in his "bubble boat" and this is something I dont really get if I am honest. Are the fishes sad, cause he is leaving? Are fishes in that particular area sad? Are they sad for some other reason… and where is going. Big Mom? Back from Big Mom towards SHs etc... All kinds of question, but I am happy that we are going to see what he has been up to in this cover story.
Now to the chapter itself. It starts with Luffy not thinking much and just throwing some random punch at Doflamingo which he brushes off with ease. What is important to note is also, that he is stating that there are 3 weeklings present, meaning the guy is confident not only that he can beat the three of them but can do it without breaking a sweat.
Next statement he makes is also an interesting one. Why is he making a rhetorical question towards Law regarding the handcuffs?
Is Law only pretending to be handcuffed when he can really uncuf himself if he wants? Is he simply stating that his friend Luffy is so incapable in dealing with it after all this time? Or is he just mocking him? Important question to ask ourselves.
And than there is one more statement - he says he came to SAVE Law. Now that can again be a mockery but it can also be the truth we should see soon...After that initial introduction he goes straight into action immobilizing the bull and than an important comment by Law who says to Luffy to leave the bull, which points to the fact that Luffy isnt all that incompetent and wouldnt have got himself into a crappy situation had he not cared for the bull and what not.
But anyway With just moving a finger he has the bull down and Luffy basically a target to hit at with Law being handcuffed. Which does make look the entire situation rather pathetic from the SH's fan point of view and does confirm his words => WEAKLINGSAnd you would genuinely expect more from Luffy. All those words, repreating how he won't make the same mistakes again, how he will protect those he loves and all that stuff. With one finger DF basically can kill them all three right then and there. He also makes it known to us by simply telling that at this point loads of people could sweep the floor with them.
He does however recognizes Luffy's ability to make friends and acknowledges his power in that respect but at the same time he once again says = "what does it matter when you yourself cant do shit" And again we have to agree that he does make a valid pointHe than proceeds in asking Law why did he chose to bet all his chips on Luffy. Still cant get it...and he basically makes a remark which hints that law is devleoping some "feelings" for Luffy aka friendship (no sexual stuff hah) why? Well because he says, he was a lot more crueler and craftier when younger, indicating that a smart person, a smart old Law would not have decided to bet it all on this guy but would make a sensible even if heartless decision. I think this is what Doflamingo is pointing at here.
To which Law responds that he has been saved.... and Doflamingo asks "By my brother Corazon?" Now this is implying Corazon was different in that respect to Doflamingo and was not a cruel guy working for hisselfinterests and killing everything in his path. And in the middle of this really interesting conversation WAM: The assisn guys Abdulah and his bro. And what do we notice at that point?
- that they are sticking true to their theme - Dofla didnt detect them or moved away
- They are an interesting pair of side characters and that them riding that bull and stuff like that actually was more important for the story then we thought. Heh
- the most important thing of all - > that DOFLAMINGO is yet again using his string clone
And here at the point 3 I was like. Come on give me a break... First his head - off and its a clone. Now this and its a clone. Everytime we will see Doflamingo we will be asking ourselves is he really dead is this his clone? Hack maybe even if he gets killed we ll ask ourselves if this wasnt just some new better clone and the real dofla is safe and sound. Perhaps a bit far stretched but just to make a point that this cone thing is not to my liking at all.
So after all that Law makes a remark/question to himself. Did he just came to show us how pathetic we are basically...and is just toying with them?
Than we just get a confirmation that Doflamingo doesnt care for anyone but his own family and in fact is likely to just kill anyone no matter what the outcome here will be, which goes in line with him stating he ll need to deal with Fujitora later. Now the part which I loved here was when they tell Luffy that the rest of the raging bunch has overtook them and are now at the second level lol. And than just as we see DFs crew ready to take the raging bunch on - wam Luffy with his elephant gun makes a shortcut by himself haha. That one was neat
On the other side. there is the tantata thing and their baloonish kind of bugs, neat touch
Now a bit disappointing part. Where Franky and some tontata are trying to blast the door and Senior Pink is still giving Franky a hard time. I did expect Franky to wipe the floor with him if I am honest and than we see Zoro and his badassery I guess. At least one guy you have a feeling will definitely not lose his fight.
Than just to let us know that Fuji and Sabo are having an epic fight of their own and than back to Luffy where Cavendish has a plan and I am really interested in what it is ;)And for the last part we return to Doflamingo where we see him holding a key with a heart shape on it (indicating its the key for Law's handcuffs) and he mentions how he kind of saw aw becoming his right hand man but that now he has to kill him and than we see Law and what he was like when he was young. And the most important bit here is when Law dressed in granades says that he wants to join DF crew and that he has not got any longer to live. Now maybe this was a part where Law gets SAVED by Corason and maybe this is a part where Law becomes a doctor because maybe Corason is a doctor as well and maybe Doflamingo mocks his brother, because he was always caring for people and saving some random lifes and we all know what is DFs view regarding that.
Well we shall see. I liked the chapter am just annyoed at some of Luffys and Frankys poor performance and the clone thing but for me it was a good chapter.
Anyone who read this wall of text. A cookie and a bravo lol

… but we did saw that all Admirals need to win is a moment of distraction.
You just can't let go. Each and every single fight in the series or in real life can be decided by a distraction/mistake. That does apply for every character, even your precious admirals.

Oh, please. There is only one instance someone managed to land an attack on Admiral in the entire series, without it being attack of opportunity. None of them end up doing much. So yeah, not really an argument.

The only thing I don't like about this arc is the fact that the SUNNY TEAM has been gone for months real world time now. WTF, Oda has never done anything like this before.
This basically means that after we get new nakama's Oda will be doing things like this more in the future, half the crew MIA till who knows when.
Well I get why he moved Sanji out of Dressrosa, because Sanji can skywalk easily to level 4 and Oda didn't wanna leave him here and make him run around like the rest because readers will start sending in SBS question- "Why didn't Sanji take Luffy and do skywalk?". So to avoid that he was the perfect guy to put as the lead of MIA Sunny team.

Untrue: When Zoro and Usopp went ahead in Baratie arc, they were gone for 18 chapters or so. That would make around four months.
So yeah. It did happen before. Just a very long time ago.
