Weren't some of the episodes between eps. 210 and 218 BalF subbed in fullscreen?
I can't read the Japanese….
I assume we're talking about DVDs here...what about everything past 207?
All the episodes from 207 - current have been in widescreen on TV.
AWESOME!!! I know that many prefer widescreen but I just love it more when the screen is totally filled with footage. Even if it means that some parts at the sides are cut.
It would really be to good to be true to have all the recent episodes in fullscreen too. That was something I was hoping for eversince I saw them for the first time.
I really enjoy widescreen, I try and explain the "Fullscreen cuts the sides of the film off!" to my mom and she just doesn't give a damn…
Now that's bad news. If confirmed (could be a mistake, since only 207 is widescreen on this set), i'll keep my HDTV episodes (the way they were meant to be) and say goodbye to dvd rips. Better than have a chopped screen..
I prefer widescreen myself. Fullscreen sucks (IMO).
Widescreen FTW
So Toei isn't giving us the full video. What a bunch of idiots. I seriously have to ask where the logic is. Fullscreen can kiss my ass. Sorry, I like to get all of the video and I did want to import some Water 7 episodes…. but now, no fucking way and I hope people don't buy them because of this so Toei can see that it is dumb.... unless they are planning special boxes for the widescreen or something or gonna put the widescreen on HD DVDs (but unlikely).
Hey, it worked for the Star Wars DVDs, so why not One Piece? They can just release a widescreen set and a fullscreen set seperately.
The HD episodes started at 207, the DVD contains 205 - 207, chances are the site generalized saying the format is 4:3 because thats what the first 2 episodes are. I would bet that Toei, not being a dumb company, would put 207 on the DVD in 16:9 aspect. I'm sure when we see the info for the next DVD containing episodes 208-210 the info will say 16:9. If it says 4:3, it'll most likely be a mistake.
I plan to e-mail just incase to express concerns.
I downloaded the ISO for that DVD off Share and regret to inform you guys that eps 207 was indeed, fullscreen.
Here are a few pics from 207:

So there you have it, there was no typo on the neowing website. All that we can hope for is some HD DVDs or limited box set with the widescreen video.
hmm, is Japan as pathetic as Hollywood? Releasing a dvd in both full and wide screen formats? I doubt it.
I like the widescreen format as well.
WOW I never knew you could download one piece RAW DVDs. Where exactly did you download it from?

You can find every OP DVD RAW upto the current one, along with RAW eps of many different anime series from a p2p program much like WinNY called Share(created after WinNY developer was jailed). Here's a good place to start http://www.uguu.org/share/ .

Thank you a lot ^__^
Wait a sec, if that is fullscreen why are there still those black bars at the top and the bottom of the pics? They may not be as wide as in real widescreen but in fullscreen mode they shouldn´t even be there. They should look like the first image actually.
I already knew that.
Anyways, I have the raws for 207-218 in HD, mainly because I have no use for the DVDs after the new episodes.
The new DVD is already available here with episodes 208-210 and it says 4:3. Can somebody confirm that?
I shall be downloading the DVD off Share this weekend providing it's on the network. And if it is confirmed to be 4:3, I have some serious decapitation to do. (and I thought 4Kids was bad…)
Yeah, i don't know what's Toei thinking. They start to make their OP episodes in widescreen and then release only incomplete versions (aka fullscreen) on dvd? Unbelievable. Better stick to HDTV from 207~.
I just Downloaded their Scan of the back of the box and zoomed in. it's Very Blurry but it appears to say "4:3"
some Heads are gonna Roll! Why would Toei Release them in a Superior Format, with the Good quality and more Video and then NOT put the good ones on the DVDs?!?! I hope there is a widescreen Release
and, off Topic but where are you guys getting your raws? because I dont have 210, 211, 217 and 218 in HD, and I want them.

if your screen is 4:3 ( 1600x1200,1024x768 or etc) it fits perfectly, but if you adjust to 1280x1024 which is 5:4, those bars will appear unless you set your media player to fit screen.I hope this helps

when you get a widescreen hdtv one day you are going to hate having all these fullscreen dvd's.
Are you sure it isn't just zoomed in to look 4:3? Wacked DVD player or bad flags in the video stream?
For all the people b*tching that they don't like widescreen, you can always ZOOM in and cut the sides off. Their's no point in wishing it wasn't in widescreen because the option to make it 4:3 requires pressing only a few buttons. My old 3-4 year old dvd player from Chinatown can do it.
