@Sakonosolo:
I actually really really hate the way that GTA does it. I want to control the camera myself. It really should be an option. The camera in general in this game sucks with a mouse though, though it's generally more trouble than it's worth.
Camera rant
! The GTA style works for me… depends on the situation for my car. In this game, for things like profiling or some of the multiplayer modes (hacking or tailing), it's beneficial to be able to have full control of the camera while you're driving slow, so you can scan the area around you. Gta games snap camera would make it difficult for things like drive-by shootings.... And I think that's what they wanted you to be able to do with this one, well at least for hacking and what not... but in a high speed chase where I need my right thumb to use the face buttons and when the car is turning faster than I can turn the camera.. the camera staying stuck in one direction (especially when I didn't want it to) is really disorienting suddenly it feels like im playing a different control style and results in a crash nearly every time.
! The problem i've found is that it's unreliable. Aiden (or "Trench" as I call him, since he has no personality) jumps in a car… my camera is facing the front... I inch forward, but still retain full view control. I accelerate and jet off... the game then automatically adjusts the camera to the sweet spot behind me and tails me properly. I can manipulate the camera as I feel, but it will always snap back. GTA has perfected this and it makes driving very suitable for a controller. But there are many times where I will accelerate and suddenly... camera stays in place... and then I crash. It always seems to happen at inopportune times... like when i'm doing a 1v1 hacking or tailing. I get compromised and I have to escape... as i'm going like... 100mph down the freeway I turn only to realize that the camera is NOT locked onto me... and then I crash into something and then I get caught... and I rage. I can sometimes fix it... i'll hover the camera behind the car until I literally see it lock into place.... like I found the damn sweet spot or something. The problem is that it's inconsistent…. and, as said before, unreliable. It really really really fucking bothers me and ruins what is usually a decent driving system… if the camera worked, i'd have no problem with the driving. I've played MANY of these types of games... I know i'm not crazy. It needs to be patched.
! I have found a temporary solution... it's pressing x to do the look behind and it generally fixes the issue. But man.... why should I have to do that?
As far as the game…. I like it. But it DOESNT blow me away.
I like the hacking, phone distractions, the profiling... all of it. It makes the world a bit more believable.
I like the game's focus on stealth.
I like that the story (so far... so jury is out on this one) is a bit more grounded and not bombastic and over the top... i dunno... we'll see. Trench himself isn't very interesting... but he's competent i suppose.
I like the 1vs1 hacking and tailing. It's kinda fun hiding from someone... racing around to find you... and you're hiding in plain sight. Doesn't always work as well as i'd like... but it's fun.
I dislike the lack of custom soundtrack... despite being able to customize the available tunes. Potential lost... and that sucks. I'd spend hours putting my own music on there and making playlists.
I can't use the car delivery app in mission... the hell? why not?
The car camera (see above).
Despite some cool ideas... this really isn't anything new. There's some steps in a good direction... but as a whole not realized if you ask me.
As illustrated in the video above... the game is hardly next gen. The most next gen thing about it is that when you complete or fail a mission (without dying) against another player... you are automatically back in your world.. no waiting. I like that.
The most next gen thing about this looks like it's marketing. (68 million indeed)
