Nice catch! By the way, Aaron did a statement on the final season.
Well that quite a bummer. :(
Best of luck to him!

Wow great episode, it looks like they really stepped up the animation quality.

Ikr.
A great episode indeed!
8/10
I know Boondocks tends to be ironic about a lot stuff, and I would normally take this episode as such, but it wasn't doing anything to imply that women weren't actually like Fleezy described. Even if it was ironic, I know a lot of people who wouldn't take the episode that way especially if you consider the Boondocks was apparently originally intended for young teenagers.
Still, great animation.
NY Times mentioned how the second episode of Season 4 actually doesn't have a writing credit at all. Which suggests that either…
A. Aaron wrote it, and/or had it rewritten without his consent and wanted his name taken off
B. It was written by committee and they couldn't figure out how to properly credit
C. Behind-the-scenes craziness we don't know about, as Vulture speculates
Also Caesar is not going to be in this season, according to Jon Jackson (who composes the music along with Metaphor the Great).
Eh. It was allright i suppose. Felt a little similar to the Usher episode, but not as well put together.
Shouldn't have been the season premiere at least, especially with the Freemans having such a small role in it. What's interesting was Jazmine only got one line in the whole episode (and it was just one word) and you could already tell her actress got replaced. Seems likely Gabby Soleil outgrew the role since she's 19 now.
There were 6 worldwide trending topics related to Boondocks the night of the premiere though, so at least people seem to be happy about it. I want to see some episodes with the family before passing much judgement. I doubt I'll like this Breaking Bad parody stuff much but hopefully there's fun stuff to be had after that.

Et Tu Caesar?
Nope.
I didn't really like this episode mostly because I didn't know what it was going for (or more likely, IT didn't know what it was going for). It was trying to satirize the whole some women are stupid sluts for Chris Brown thing but it never really showed the other side to this argument, how this is just a small minority of women and that women are independent beings that care about their self-respect which I think was needed. They could have done that with Sarah's character but never try. Her character was pretty awful in this episode and completely out of character because I always found her to be level-headed and likable. Not the strongest character but she's not…what she was ion this episode.

Really?
Through out the seasons, she's been getting more and more like how she was protrayed in this episode. I thought she was always frustrated with Tom, so honestly her behavior here didn't surprise me. It's certainly her most prominent episode, that's for sure.
I think she was a harmless albeit bland character. She has been sexually frustrated with Tom sure but there's a world of difference between an unsatisfied housewife and…what she was in this episode.
"Yeah, sometimes bitches need to be put in their place, Lord knows I sure need it sometimes."
Me: What the fuck?
For anyone curious about why this season's intro music is the exact same as Season 3's instead of changing like every other season, it's because for some reason, production wanted it left as is. The two music guys, Jon Jackson and Metaphor the Great wanted to though. Speaking of music, here's a recent message from Jon regarding a soundtrack release:
Hi,
I figured I'd post this here since you guys might be interested. After bugging the hell out of sony since wetarted working for them, Metaphor and myself have gotten Sony to release a soundtrack album via iTunes to accompany the new season. It didn't end up exactly how we wanted as it is 10 tracks picked by sony for release, but if it goes well they will let us put out another album of material from the show. So be on the lookout for that. We also have produced an album of Metaphor spitting over instrumental tracks we made for the show entitled "out from the background" that we are trying to get sony to put up via iTunes. Along with a further mixtape called "Season Phor" hosted by Metaphor which we feel is more representative of the show than whatever that thing adult swim put out is.
So to sum up Ten songs from the show should be appearing on iTunes in the near future. Sony may let us release all the other material officially, and if not It will find it's way onto the mighty interwebs by other slightly less official channels. Either way check it all out.
Thanks,
JJ
First half of this soundtrack is released on iTunes. It's not much (and I'd personally prefer more instrumentals and such) but the only way to ensure we get more of that is to support this. With this being the first Boondocks season without a Dock-trine mixtape release I'd say it's a good idea!
Yeah i agree with TLC. I'm not sure what they were trying to make fun of. At the end i got the impression that Chris Brown is an asshole but he's also what women want which, if that's what i was supposed take away, is really dumb.
I'd say it was arguing that while people like Pretty Boy Flizzy may do these morally reprehensible things, it's largely due to the fact that we live in a culture where fanbases of people like him excuse those behaviors and record companies manufacture these "bad boy" images for the sake of keeping the artists relevant.

Et Tu Caesar?
Nope.
It's been over 8 years since Caesar has shown up in anything.
^ Isn't that kind of problematic? Since the way the episode is showing how the fanbase of people like him excuse that behaviour is by saying women like bad people, with a side of women like being beaten.
So it's not actually making fun of these ideas about women, but bringing them up and even blaming women to an extent for why all Pretty Boy Flizzys are allowed to do bad things.
I really can't tell what point the producers of the episode are trying to make.
Honestly, I see MANY woman in real life portray the dumb idiocy most of these girls (including Sarah) in the show were doing.
Obviously, the Boondocks exaggerates it a bit… It's a comedy, after all. But it's not all wrong - unfortaintly - There's alot of dumb females in the world who idolize people like Chris Brown no matter what.
Cuz' dey' kute. Lol...
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
That kinda goes with her being sexually frustrated with Tom - She wants to be dominated - something she feels Pretty Boy Flizzy could give her (hence why she said that). Something she told Tom to do at the beginning of the episode, but Tom was failing to do. It's all sexual desires.
Plus, I think she was drunk in that scene, no?
Yup. I didn't find her characterization here much different from her past portrayals though. If she's gonna be used later on this season, I just want to see some scenes of her that don't revolve around her conflicts with Tom and their depressing marriage. The real problem with her is that it's all she's ever used for, not that she wants to be dominated and have Tom man up once in a while.
New episode aired tonight, and it was pretty solid.
Think my favorite thing is that it looks like their setting up a story arc, which obviously, this show has never done before. Pretty excited for that.
Also, Breaking Bad parody next week! Wonder how they'll tie it in with the Freeman's becoming slaves now.
So it's now confirmed Season 4 is, unlike past seasons, only 10 episodes. Also the complete season set is coming June 24th. There's also a complete series set coming out the same time.
Also Michael B. Jordan (voice of Pretty Boy Flizzy) made some comments on Aaron getting fired from The Boondocks. Turns out it happened over a year and a half ago.
I hope the complete set comes with cut and uncut. >_> Maybe that's too much to ask.
Edit: Also. Really good episode. I'm actually legitmately pissed off as hell at Grandad. If he sold himself, fine. But his grandkids too?! Even after Huey tried to pull him out?! Man! If this is a legit story arc, I'm looking forward to see how this all goes down in the end.
Omg, I saw the latest episode on my DVR and seeing Granddad losing his shit at the end had me rolling!! XD
Metaphor the Great composes the music on the show, along with Jon Jackson.
What's a season 5:ninja:.
Looking at this thread reminds that I have to at some point in time get into season 4 I've been procrastinating like a motherfucker.
Really… Sigh. The season (except for the last 2 episodes) was terrible. This sucks, i wanted it to die with grace.
Good news guys, false alarm.
Good. Season 4 was horrible.
Looks like The Boondocks is coming back. All I hope is this new season will be better then Season 4.
What's the over and under of this being a false alarm…...and if it isn't Caesar still not showing up?
If it is another soulless mess like season 4 why bother.
But if the creator is brought back on board again i'm hyped
It's better have Stinkmeaner. Or no Sell.
Described as a “re-imagining,” the reboot will “update the cult, subversive satire for the modern era” by setting the Freeman family “against the evil local government tyrant Uncle Ruckus, who rules the fictional Woodcrest County, Maryland with an iron fist.”
Uhm…
Yeah that's definitely going to be weird if's that's going to be the overarching narrative.
Uhm…
Yeah, that's kinda of a weird premise. :/
If season 4 had just been the length of season 2, with about 15 episodes, I'd be fine with them just leaving it at that and not doing an entire other season. What haven't they tackled apart from the growing police brutality over the past half decade?
Uncle Ruckus in an actual position of authority feels weird.
But we'll all have a to send up a prayer to white jesus that it all works out.
With McGruder on I'm sold since all of his work has been good including both seasons of Black Jesus. If I had to guess things it'll talk about I'd wager:
1. Me Too, specifically in reference to R Kelly and Bill Cosby.
2. Wokeness
3. Trans-Race (Rachel Dolezal)
4. Gentrification
5. The new crop of rappers. (The Breakfast Club Radio Program will make an appearance)
6. NBA team ups
7. Riley (Trump) vs Grandad (Bernie) vs Huey (No one)
8. Cancel Culture
9. Kanye
Them tackling Kanye would be hella dated I mean even South Park took the piss out of him how long ago was that?
Same thing with NBA Superteams & Trans race.
Though it would interesting to see them do a follow up on "The Trial Of Robert Kelly".

Kanye in 2008 and Kanye in 2019 are two completely different beasts, which is the fascinating part. If Ruckus is the Trump figure, I could see Kanye being his only black supporter. The NBA superteams is more of a vehicle for Riley than anything else, an unexplored opportunity. Trans Race would tie into Trans people in general, with Riley probably being put off by it, and also just seems like something that they can't pass up given Ruckus's mental state. Anyway, these are just my opinions on things that could be interesting. Not sure what's really popping on Black twitter in 2019.

Yeah but they are similar in the sense that they have large hatedom.
HBO Max has ordered a two-season revival of the animated series “The Boondocks.”
The 24 new epsiodes, as well as all 55 episodes of the original series, will launch on the forthcoming streaming service in Fall 2020. Original creator Aaron McGruder is one again behind the series.
Once aired on Adult Swim, “The Boondocks” chronicles the battles of the Freeman family against the evil local government tyrant Uncle Ruckus, who rules fictional Woodcrest County Maryland, with an iron fist.
“‘The Boondocks’ was a revolutionary series that sparked conversations on hot button issues and brought dark subjects into the light with episodes like ‘The Trial of Robert Kelly’, ‘The Fundraiser’ and ‘The Story of Gangstalicious’,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer for HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT and truTV. “Aaron is a gifted visionary whose unique style of storytelling is a welcome voice and we are elated The Freemans are making their thugnificent comeback on HBO Max.”
The new series follows the adventures of self-proclaimed “Civil Rights Legend” Robert “Granddad” Freeman, and his two rambunctious grandsons Huey and Riley. The family has recently moved to an idyllic community in suburban Maryland only to see it taken over by the tyrannical Uncle Ruckus and his bizarre neo-fascist regime. Life under Ruckus turns out to be an everyday struggle to survive.
“There’s a unique opportunity to revisit the world of The Boondocks and do it over again for today. It’s crazy how different the times we live in are now – both politically and culturally – more than a decade past the original series and two decades past the original newspaper comic. There’s a lot to say and it should be fun,” said McGruder.

John Witherspoon passed away today, can't see Boondocks working without Robert Freeman.
