Gowther I think I'm really starting to like you.
Such a great chapter, all these neat little details.

Such a great chapter, all these neat little details.
Flash forward to the past!
Edit: Wait hold on, that was Hendricksen? I really thought it was a younger Zaratras.
Holy fuck, Gowther. . .
Will Dreyfuss at least try to retaliate? He might be the strongest, but talk about getting bitch-handled on his first fight.
Does Gowther have something against Hawk to have him chopped and eated it constantly?
This week I wrote an analytic review… Blame Gowther and his hypnotic powers for that. (The font belongs to other site where I'm posting the review too).
! Chapter 70 - The Strongest Sword, Unleashed
!
Wasn't he a sweet guy the last chapter?
! Gowther can read others full memory, and also make others to relive past experiences. In that way he can control his rivals. But Gowther’s main merit is that with him traumas are introduced in the story, and with traumas, the plot becomes richer, basically because the characters become complex enough to be able to have traumas, painful contradictions.
! Dreyfus nightmare is really interesting because lets us know he appreciated his brother Zaratras for real. Otherwise he wouldn’t have had a trauma caused by the murder of his brother.
!
Bad influences doesn't bring anything good…
! But the trauma has other interesting elements: Dreyfus was not interested on the holy war from the beginning. He wanted to be an outstanding holy knight, the best one. Only that. Later, once he became the great holy knight, that desire turned into the desire to gain the supremacy through the victory over the sins in what he believe it is the holy war of the prophecy. In his youth he wanted to protect the kingdom now he would be able to destroy the people and their homes only to be proclaimed the winner of the holy war.
! It’s possible that to be able to survive his trauma he should have to believe in that other objective. Human psyche just works like that: you bury and forget your sins by making of them the means for future ultimate goals…
! But this human trick of the mind won’t work if you meet a guy that can make you relive again the the original remorse of your sins, the traumatic original events … Of course, this is fantasy, and Susuki Nakaba has not to be faithful to the human psyche in his story… but my guess is that Dreyfus is done. For us, readers, it’s easy to believe now he won’t be the same never again.
! Now, if Dreyfus didn’t want to kill his brother, surely he took part on his assassination. There’s no other way to beat the strongest holy knight, than attacking him off guard, and a brother could be the mean to make him lower his guard.
! Anyway the chapter let us know that the main enemy of Lyonesse has been all the time Hendricksen. If Dreyfus wasn’t much worried about to fighting the holy war, Hendricksen was; and it seems Zaratras and the King were obstacles in his original plan to win the holy war against the demon clan. I’d believe that even if it was Dreyfus who asked him to plot against Zaratras, Hendricksen maneuvered to make that to happen.
Gowther is a mean son of a bitch.
I almost feel sorry for Dreyfus… Almost.
Looking closer, Gowther's tatoo looks more like a Ram than a Goat.
I wonder how they would handle Nightmare Terror in an anime.
Joining the Gowther fanclub too. I'm in love~
Wahahaha. Lust moving up in the competition for Best Sin.
Anyone else think Gowther's sin is some sort of lust for power? That possibly turned him non human.
I just thought of some silly but yet impressive theory that Gowther was a woman who loved a man and magic happens and she fused into that man…and left being human.
Damn, dat Gowther. Based on what King said, the sacred treasures or something amplifies or draws out the most of a sin's power, was Gowther using his? If not… shudders Still, I wonder what race Gowther is, the "humans are weak and stuff" tends to weaken my like for a character and Gowther is my favorite so far so...
Does Gowther have something against Hawk to have him chopped and eated it constantly?
He is a pig? People eat pig!
did you guys catch all the creepy imagery? like the hanging man, strange faces on background characters, a face on the wall dripping blood, a face in the floor, and Meliodas eating a giant caterpillar with a human face?

Noticed those in the raw itself.
I spent the whole chapter looking for those.
We also had a sign with "Nightmare" written on it and random Hawk cameos.
Spoiler of ch 71, thanks to Ferdinbeer from RedHawks:
! Dreyfus awakens from the nightmare, but Gowther doesn't because of a mysterious shadowy figure in the dream. However, Dreyfus is no longer able to fight either and has to be carried off by Gilthunder, leaving the battle. Helbram quickly gets the upper hand on Guila and Hauser, but Diane saves the two just in time. Helbram quickly recovers however, and impales Diane. As Helbram is about to deliver the finishing blow, KING FUCK YEAH King arrives and repels the attack.
FUCK YEAH!!!!!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Correction by ferdinbeer of chapter 70 (Redhawk translator of the serie):
On the last page of chapter 70, I translated Gowther's move as "nightmare terror" but it should have been "nightmare teller." It's fixed on the Red Hawk reader. I apologize for my carelessness.
See the corrected page here: http://manga.redhawkscans.com/reader/read/the_seven_deadly_sins/en/0/70/page/20
! Then that one behind Gowther should be the shadow who keeps him in the dream. It's the thing that lies in the darkness… Wow, what a cliffhanger..

! Well the top left is Zaratras, then bottom left and top right are two separate things, both of which look like demon clan stuff, but I don't know if they are the mysterious shadowy figure or not.
What a delightful art!
This chapter was tits awesome.
As some expected, the one-two punch Gowther gave Dreyfuss was part of his nightmare power. I thought it was a bit too much that, aside from some of the most OP ability in the series, he was also so physically strong he could beat one of the strongest guys around with two simple punches.
I know it's a little detail, but it somewhat brings some balance to the table. And I like it.
The rest of the chapter? Well, this arc is an orgy of incredibly well drawn fights full of deliciously looking attacks between interesting and colourful characters, and this chapter was more of that. What else can someone ask for? This manga knows what it wants to sell, and it sells it incredibly well.
Loving this arc so far. Best in the series by a long shot.
What a fantastic chapter. There's so many questions about Dreyfus and Gowther figth. What does lie in the darkness? Is it that shadow somehow connected to Dreyfus? Was a counterattack thrown by this later on Gowther? It doesn’t seems so, because Gowther just wonders who he is, and he seemed to be in perfect control of Dreyfus… But…. Or is some independent entity, and Dreyfus simply was lucky and took advantage of the situation?
And what is happening with Gowther? Is he now fighting the shadow in the realm of dreams? Anyway the fight against Dreyfus happened in the mind is just mindblowing, since opens the story to a parallel key world that should have to be considered from now on. For instance, the nightmare affected Dreyfus real body, so it’s not just a regular bad dream… And if Gowthers triumphant attitude before he meets the shadow, suggests his body is safe or can heal relatively easy, he could gain even more damage depending on how he is doing it with that shadow.
Now about Helbram and King, in some chapter someone states that it’s because of Helbram that King can’t use his full power, (anyone can post the link?). They have a common story, from times before the sins period. It would be the perfect moment for an interesting flashback followed by a sudden release of King’s full power. The next title suggests it's going to go that way, which it would be just great. Great story we are having here.
I am not liking the name of the next chapter, "The Man who was to late." That sounds foreboding to me… Just saying.

Diane cannot die so it is not that worrysome for me but King thinking she was hurt because of him arriving to late will be a classical power boost and a good explanation for him defeating Hellbram when he was utterly defeated last time.
Probably just tied into King turning up too late to save Elaine and his past connection with Helbram which deters him from using his full powers.
Fair enough, you have me convinced. I will say the second to last page gave me goosebumps, when King dissipated the ice, amazing art.

So good, so very damn good.
I like how Nakaba is not afraid to treat equally bad his female characters.
Did King came flying or he used Oslo?
I can't help but think that Zeal is so cute. I'm going to make a bet and say that the title of the next chapter means some backstory about King and he Fairy Forest.
Well King is one of my favorites (although I think I have too many favorites in this series) so a chapter centered in developing him is welcome. If what Gowther said is true and he can't use his full power because of Helbram… well, perfect chance to overcome the issue. Also, Diane is amazing. I love her.
I can't stop thinking about the characters' details like... Is Dreyfus even thinking that his nephew, whose father he killed (or helped kill/plotted against), is the one giving him a hand? Does he feel bad in the least bit?
I have too many questions and theories about what lurks in the shadows in Gowther's Nightmare Teller to say anything. I prefer to wait.
This arc is awesome and the manga is creating lots of plot lines while answering many others. Very balanced in my opinion. I wonder how much he wants to extend the story, though. He's going fast so if he has more or less 40 volumes planed, then some greater big bad other than Hendricksen and a plot twist is to be expected. But hey, that never bothered me in Kongoh Banchou and the plot twists there where hilarious.
Finally, as always the art makes me fall in love with every chapter.
(excuse my bad English)
So what did Dreyus that much damage? Gowther or Guila and Hauser? I'm confused about this part.
So what did Dreyus that much damage? Gowther or Guila and Hauser? I'm confused about this part.
It was Gowther only. Dreyfus was unharmed when Hauser stopped his twister.
Dreyfus took psychological damage only.
It wont be strange if he'll have recurring nightmares or hallucinations due his remorse. Surely the other Great Holy Knight is going to take advantage of this.
It's a shame that Gowther went down but at least he did some lasting damage against one of the strongest opponents the Sins had to face yet. That counts for something doesn't it?
Every time I see Diane taking another hit, I cannot help but feel pain myself. And for some reason I keep hoping that Meliodas will show up to protect her at least once; to stop focusing on Elizabeth only and remember that one of the Sins, who also happens to be in love with him, might need some help to from time to time. Wishful thinking on my part, I'm aware of that…

Dreyfus is bleeding after the nightmare.

The only bemol I have with the art are the volume covers which I find are not representative of the awesomeness we get in the chapter.

I think he spends that much time on the marvellous pages, than barely has time for the covers. Is't the third failed one in a row.
I'm afraid I see no blood on him.
Woa, you're right!! I remembered blood on his mouth. Sorry.
Not much for me to say beyond the series continues to still be great and that I'm pumped up for the next as always.
That, and I really feel for Diane.
Has it ever been stated what Ban would sound like in real life? I imagine him like a singer that uses a lot of auto tune but I wonder what he really sounds like.
So since it's confirmer that Helbram can keep the powers of his allies even when they die (that ice knight died right? Pretty sure he did) I guessKing was an ally once and that's why Helbram has some of his powers.
Indeed it seems like one of the guy who died but that would be very strange if it were true and not a mistake.
Yeah, the guy who died looked like Gustav.

ha ha, what the hell does that even mean?
Now i can get that image of my mind. It'd be hilarious if he sounded like this
That picture with king at the end reminded me of Final Fantasy Versus trailer or rather 15…
It would be pretty mean if nakaba cuts to arthur or ban and meliodas next week.
They spoil the content of next chapter so we know it won't happen.
Thought I'd post this here. New coloring.
Helbram is a superb antagonist. Just throwing that out there.
