Sequel to Independence Day. Might be interesting but it doesn't appear Will Smith is in.

Big deal. Roland Emmerich already makes a sequel to Independence Day every few years as is.
Is this going to cover the thirty years of hard fighting on a devastated, irradiated Earth against the marooned alien hordes that poured out of their crashed saucers after the climax of the first movie?

No idea. what is in the article is all that's known.

Oh yes. My body is ready.
Eh, I doubt it will be any good…
I can tell this is gong to suck.
With a title like "Independence Day…FOREVER!!" I'm sure not a lot of thought went into this film. The word "Forever" should never be in a title of a movie (unless it is a chick flick which still makes it lame). It just sounds...stupidly childish.
Just call his one Independence Day 2 (whatever part 1 is suppose to be) and the next one as Independence Day 3 (part 2...or whatever).

W](http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02/27/jeff-goldblum-might-be-back-for-independence-day-sequel)ho needs Will Smith when you have Jeff Goldblum. But yeah he himself confirmed he is in talks to return for ID forever
As long as Goldblum goes on mad scientist rants about chaos theory, I'm in.

The funny thing is, Ian Malcolm was a lot more ranty in the book.
How do they intend to carry the whole movie on Goldblum ?
Also was Smith refused a chance to work on this, or did he refuse it himself ? Cause I don't think he has anything remotely better on his resume the past X years so he'd be sabotaging himself really.
I believe Smith refused himself.
I seem to remember an interview a few weeks back saying they had written two different scripts, one for if Smith said yes and one that we will get now…

Did the man develop some kinda addiction to crippling failure after After Earth ?
Well he did choose Wild Wild West over The Matrix.
…..
Which commercially was wrong, but I can't say anything bad Wild Wild West really.
I don't really have any faith in the project. I don't see why Will should either. The director doesn't exactly have a good track record, and I didn't like the first time.

I imagine The Matrix would have been a much different movie if he hadn't. Mainly because Keanu Reeves is kinda like The Abominable snowman. You heard rumours that he supposedly exists, but no matter how hard you look you can't see nothin'.

Maybe he is giving the 2nd Matrix Trilogy a chance this time instead of ID4eva?
I'm wondering if that random black guy the trailer zoomed in on was supposed to be Will's step son from the first movie. Since Vivica is supposed to be reprising her role as well. I'm curious if this Will-less script killed off his character.
They've done some fake documentary shorts in lead up to the film. Will Smith's character died in a flight test accident in 2007.
Humankind has pretty much recovered and has applied the alien tech to expanding our presence through the solar system, Ender's Game style. Actually, I could see this having a lot in common with the Ender universe backstory.

A pity there is no Will Smith in this. He's a likeable guy whatever movie he normally is in.

He may be a very likeable guy, but his movies are really more than lame to say the least. I am not blaming it on him, though.

The Pursuit of Happyness, Ali, the first Men in Black were a few of a number of other movies he's been in that have been really good. Others aren't gonna win any awards but they were fun to watch just because he was in them.
Don't think the movie will lose that much without him.
Too bad Adam Baldwin isn't back. I liked his character for some reason.
Btw, noticed Data is on the list. Didn't his character get turned into a puppet and die? Or he wasn't that dead?
I forgot Adam Baldwin was in this.
I had to check imdb. Then I noticed Harry Conick Jr. was in it too at some point lol.
Watched this about a month ago or so.
Certainly a bad film but there's one fantastic scene in it that I really liked.
But really, money doesn't make a film…
As I've nothing but fond memories about the original, I'm really deliberately looking for a reason to watch the second one.
So there's one fantastic scene? Awesome!

The returning characters have the best moments in the film :ermm:
