I'm Starting to think that sabo might become a potentail candidate for a strawhat memeber. People might say he won't join cuz he's with the revolutionaries, but I went back and read a lot of back issues and there was nothing that said or described sabo as a revolutionary. Sure Dragon took him under his wing, but that doesn't mean he joined. He might just be training him or some for the events that are gonna follow which I know all of us here are aware of.

He was obviously in a mission for the Revolutionaries, going as far as giving orders to Koala.

Yeah that too. And Sabo also vowed to retrieve the mera mera no mi in order to honor Ace. Let's say he gets it, then what? I think he won't have it any other way than to be reunited with his friend/brother. And there was that promise they had when they were kids…...

He's a Revolutionary. He has his own adventures.
This is something both Luffy and Ace acknowledged about each other. Why wouldn't Sabo?

There is no solid proof that Sabo is a revolutionary. At least it hasn't been revealed yet. For now it can just be said that he's working for them. After his mission is over I think sabo will leave the revolutionaries.

Do you have any solid proof that Sabo isn't a Revolutionary?
Because Dragon saving him, his dislike of nobles, the fact that he was ordering Koala around and stating that "we" will be the ones carrying Ace's will all sound like solid evidence that he is.

That's better than no proof at all that Sabo is not a revolutionary
! :ninja:
-
Well, Its true I don't have proof cuz none has been shown for me to back it up. But still I vote for Sabo as a possible candidate for joining the strawhats period.
-
It would be great if Sabo joins SH but i feel it's less likely to happen! Sabo is more like Luffy's family as well as his greatest ally!
–------------
I am so excited for the next chapter, I want to see Sabo's face!!!! :D
Do you think Sabo has some kind of Haki too?
I wonder if Sabo will end up eating the Mera Mera No Mi?
And it would be really fun if Barto is going to join SH? But Barto have not yet showed his goal/dream :( not sure if he's gonna join!
-
caimie is the one to join. remember this!

In chapter 731 he said his dream is to become Luffy's underling.

@kuma:
I don't know if everyone does get their fair share man, take Robin for example since Enies lobby
-Taken flight
-defeated zombies
-refused to join the giant strawhat robot
-tried to snap Moria's neck
-envisioned Kuma with cute paws
-taken out flying fish riders
-escaped from a slave labor camp
-gathered info on the true history
-made friends with the revolutionaries (including Koala)
-enhanced her powers to split into two/make giant limbs
-freed prisoners
-beat up Hammond
-flirted with Jinbe
-discovered the truth about Poseidon
-been useful as a spy
-helped subdue the giant children
-made her first facefault ever
-is helping lead an army of dwarves
-been generally sensible and competent in contrast to everyone else in the crewYes, she hasn't fought a lot, but she's done plenty. ANd thats off the top of my head. If I actually went through the volumes and picked out everything, she'd have quite a bit, despite being out of the series for 2 years.
Brook another one after the TS I feel he's been reduced to just making cameo appearances here and there outside of that rather forgettable fight with Zeo. we have a hard enough time given everyone there fair share as it is and people want 3 more that's 2 too many if you ask me.
Same sort of things. If all you're looking for is FIGHTS, he hasn't had a lot (but no one else has either) and he in particular got screwed by the fact the very next island after Thriller Bark was Sabondy which took him out of the story for two years. But he's done plenty.
-buried his comrades
-gave up fame and fortune to rejoin the strawhats
-peered lustily at mermaids
-lots and lots of skull jokes
-Found keys to release everyone from their cage before drowning
-put enemies to sleep, freeze things
-do scouting in his ghost form in the midst of poison gas
-play dead convincingly to surprise opponents
-deliver messages
-been astounded by all the "laboons" on the way to Fishman island
-been a rock god with a fanbase that allows the crew to escape a crowd of marines
-defeated Jora (who turned everyone into paintings)…He's done stuff AND defeated enemies. In fact, his new world battle victory account against named opponents is higher than Sanji, who split an opponent with Jinbe and lost to Vergo.
If you're ONLY looking for battles, then even Zoro has only had two of those since the timeskip, and Sanji 's record is currently bad, plus he has that awful nosebleed gag. Law has had like four battles against all major players, does that make him more important than anyone else?! But everyone is doing something. Its a balance.
-
Hmmm…I kinda forget, but was Jinbe's flashback one that was actually told out loud? Was Robin on site or elsewhere? Cause I can't recall if she indicated knowing Koala.
-
@RobbyBevard:
refused to join the giant strawhat robot
One of the greatest OP moments ever.
Robin has continually found new ways to use her power, they've just not been the showcases major 1-on-1 battles can be. I guess many of us would just love to see that.
And Brook railing at casual killing during his battle with Zeo added such depth to his character he's now one of my faves.
I guess people worry that new members will take the spotlight away from their favourites but for me a new member interactng with the crew gets to show new facets of them.
And Jinbe just deserves to have downtime fun with them away from the arc battles. -
Just going to jump in. All of us can probably agree that the SHs are comparable to the Roger pirates. Most of us also assume that the SHs will face the BB pirates in a one-on-one battle.
-If we take the above as true then the SHs lack one crew member, besides Jinbei who hasn't joined jet, to face BB.
-And they are also missing two kids/cabin boys/apprentices like the Roger pirates.I think both situations can now be resolved. First off, there is only one SH missing if you count stronger as a member of BB's crew. I say let us count stronger as an fighting appendage. That would mean that one of the SHs would then have one too, the missing pet as some has suggested. I think the semi-member, the fighting appendage, is General Franky. It fits even if it is not a creature, it is an extension of Franky as Stronger is an extension of Doc. Q.
Secondly, Roger's crew as far as we know had three 'temporary' (for lack of a better word) members: Crocus, Buggy and Shanks. Though we don't know how long or when the last two joined, I think it is safe to assume they didn't stay until the final island. Why else would Shanks want to return to Raftel? Crocus I think is embodied in Jinbei, as he will be joining only for the final stretch of the journey. This leaves us with the missing equivalents of Buggy and Shanks. If indeed Shanks and Buggy were only a part of Roger's crew for a short period, then Kinemon and Mononosuke will fit in nicely. (Yes, Kinemon is an adult, but Chopper is not. Oda mixes things around as much as he likes his patterns.)
So no new crewmate execept for the temps.

This is all fine except that a) we don't know how many crewmates Roger had in total and b) it assumes no new members have joined Blackbeard during the timeskip. b) is provably false at least in the sense that we can be fairly sure BB has adopted some fodder, otherwise Burgess wouldn't have been introduced as a captain in his own right. There's really no guarantee that he hasn't attracted some more powerful crewmates too.

All Strawhats have unique fighting styles and/or weaponry. The next nakama will be unique as well with little overlap.
-Basing it on this criteria, I think that eliminates Rebecca unless she uses something besides a sword since speed sword fighting is Brook's style.
-Not sure of Viola's fighting style(she did give Sanji a mean kick to the face).
-Bartolomeo has a unique fruit but an actual fighting style hasn't been distinguished.
-The dwarves have Tontatta Combat which could be interesting and unique but only seen one move: Tail Hammer! One would have to be a master/star pupil of Tontatta Combat, have a distingushed weapon, and/or unique devil fruit to separate him/her from the rest.
-Bellmay uses daggers(mastery…doubt it) though his devil fruit can be somewhat mimicked by Luffy.
-Others I don't want to list.My current description of the Strawhats:
Luffy Improvised Melee Brawling Rubber Man
Zoro 3 Samurai Sword Style
Nami Weather Controlling Metal Bo(maybe learn Three-section Staff)
Usopp Sniping Slingshot with Pop Greens and Hammer
Sanji Blood Leg/Taekwondo/Savante/Capoeira/Parkour Star Pupil
Chopper Wrestling/Monster/Animal Mimic/Kung Fu Practitioner
Robin Multi-Limb Assassination Jujutsu
Franky Boxing Weapon Artillery Tank with Laser
Brook Speedy Hypnotist Fencer
Jimbei Sumo Build Karate Master5 with weapons
5 without weaponsWhat styles of fighting and/or weapons are most interesting for the next nakama?
Some Unused Martial Arts By Strawhats
Muay Thai/Kickboxing
Judo
Aikido
Sumo
Vale Tudo
Kenpo(Don Chinjao and family, Okamas)
Ninjutsu(Ninjas vs Pirates):ninja:Some Unused Weapons By Strawhats

Nice list scraping the barrel a bit don't you think. I mean you've scraped so hard I think you've put a hole in the barrel. I still stand by point M8, that list does reinforces my view somewhat that since Enies lobby she really hasn't done that much. if you were to do the same list for what each SH has contributed in the arcs in same time frame with maybe the exception of Brooke they would mostly likely all dwarf Robins, I do often wonder if she has eaten Absalom fruit sometimes she tend' s to go invisible now and again.

Nah you just want to force your bullshit argument at this point, starting to think you are a Robin fanboy and want to see her in "fights" thats what I though when we started the argument but I didn't want to be that blatant and actually wanted to see your reasoning but yeah, wtv suit yourself, poor Robin does nothing.

wind your neck I haven't been rude to you don't be rude to me. I'm not a Robin fanboy I don't even like the girl so calling me fanboy was just one big fail really . I just offered my opinion the same as everyone else, am not here for arguments so grow up am not forcing my points (not arguments) on to anyone.

Seems like Rebbeca the only one in this arc that's applicable for crew-mate material. Violet's probably gonna be the successor to the throne if Flamingo is indeed done away with or loses interest in the country, so that leaves Rebbecca with no place to go. Staying on the island wouldn't really make sense for her seeing as how she has show n no signs of loyalty towards the island or its people. The only way I can see her staying is if that's the toy soldier's dying wish or something, but that being said it would be pretty weak if that happened.

She wants to live with Toy Soldier. That's the only thing she's looking for.

Yes, but she also wants the Mera Mera no mi, and if he dies, what then?

Her wish is to be with toy Soldier. But for that she needs to get id of Doflamingo that is why she wants the mera. And like usual Doflamingo is getting kicked out at the end of the arc. So there is no reason she won't live with the toy soldier.
You believe Toy Soldier can die? And even if he die why would she embark on a pirate crew?
-

That… can't be said yet.
Well due to the interactions with Luffy, and his admiration for her, I just assumed that would lead to some end. Also if the toy soldier becomes human, what then? There has to be more to her than what has been presented, otherwise all those flashbacks and interactions would have been for nothing.
However if she does stay on the island with the humanized toy soldier, and nothing happens, it would kind of a bland end for her character, but if that happens... well.. okay, I
guess. -

Luffy is heading to the castle to kick Dofla's ass. The dwarves army are ready to kick Dofla's ass. The Happou Navy are here for Dofla's ass. Once Sugar is out most ex-toys will be ready to kick Dofla's ass and Dofla will lose his citizens trust. There's no doubt that Dofla won't be able to stay on Dressrossa.
Luffy likes her. Admiration is too strong of a word. The flashback are for us to care and sympathize to toy soldier and Rebecca's situation. And since Toy soldier won't die there is no way Rebecca is leaving him behind. Toy Soldier transforming into human means not only she gets to live with the one who raise her and protected her but also her father.

I think you're underestimating Doflamingo, but we'll see.
As for the Rebbecca related stuff, okay we'll see.
-
I believe that something will happen to Toy Soldier (doesn't have to be death) that will prevent Rebecca from being with him, this is because of him stating that he wouldn't always be there for her, and that he would "break" before she became an adult (http://www.mangasee.com/manga/?series=OnePiece&chapter=733&index=1&page=16). I know he was mostly referring to his toy body but it feels as though it meant more than that. If this is true then there goes this obstacle for Rebecca to join the crew.
As for Luffy's degree of affinity for Rebecca, sure he may not admire her but he likes her a lot (http://www.mangasee.com/manga/?series=OnePiece&chapter=725&index=1&page=12) and certainly enough to warrant her joining the crew on this aspect.
In summary, I still believe Rebecca is the most likely choice as of now.

Quite a stretch that you have to.get rid of toy soldier for that to happen and we all know how often.charaxters die in op.
.
i see bart with much bigger chance and even he doesnt have much chance sadly… and theres nothing keeping him away from joining. His crew? We didnt even see them and there already was similar case in franky and he was shown to have much bigger interactions with them so far.... maybe that will change but i dont see barts crew as more impottant than his dream. Anyway hell probably be "just" an ally. -
So I've got a few theories about the next Strawhat members. I believe 2 people will join the Strawhats at the end of this arc.
Bartolomeo: MASSIVE Luffy fan boy, he's absolutely hilarious and the manga world already loves him. I mean who doesn't like a guy who debuts by throwing a fake stick of dynamite into a crowd of thousand of fucking people? Bartolomeo is also like the majority of the Straw hats with his respect and having the word "Nakama" mean something extremely important to him which is a trait EVERY Straw Hat member has. I'd seriously love to see Bartolomeo join the Straw Hat crew and I'm sure that during this arc he'll be helping Luffy and pretty much fighting along side them. Sorta like Franky or Sogeking did during Enies Lobby.
Rebecca: Same old sob story like both female members of the crew have had, she grew up being tormented by someone (Do'flamingo) and Luffy kicks their ass. However with this one he didn't DIRECTLY tell Rebecca he was going to do it but they seemed to be becoming good friends when they've had their chats and it's like with Enies Lobby once again, Luffy understands Rebeccas enemy very well. Now there's also a power reason to her joining and that is so that there is a STRONG female character in the Straw Hat crew. Cause lets be honest, Nami is weak as fuck and Robin is always getting her ass kicked except against goons. I don't think Rebecca will join though as in the last few chapters it's been revealed that one of the toys is Rebeccas father. I can see her father being turned back to human at the end of this arc and then after that they have a happy reunion, Luffy offers her to join but she declines. Sorta like Vivi and Alabasta.
Thoughts on my theories?

I think you have some pretty solid theories there especially the rebecca one. I also think both of them have a REALLY high chance of become part of the crew. Especially rebecca. Cuz oda has stated that at least one more lady is gonna join the crew and I think its her. (Imma look for the article in which oda said that btw).
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Ok I couldn't find the female crew member interview. So just take that as a theory. But he did mention that there will be an additional 3 more characters who wil join. And we really (including sanji) need another female member in the crew!

So only another 3 people will join over the new world or just this arc? if it's just the New World that's sorta shit if you ask me but then again it makes sure characters don't get buried so we can focus on others more so..

Throughout the new world lol. The mugiwara crew is supposed to be complete with 10 members.
-
Ohhh, shit didn't know that xD
Well considering Jimbe said he was going to join once he got his shit sorted out on Fishman Island does that mean there's only 2 people left?

I've got a feeling that Oda's original crew number plan won't stay the same then, I see atleast another 3 or 4 joining. I could be wrong though, guess I'll have to wait and see!

I don't understand why you would want an established for several years, generally likable cast of characters to be inflated with so many people as it nears the end of the series.

The series is not near the end its halfway through, not that I think he will have 16+ people in the crew but just saying.
-
We've still got another 7 or 8 years to go, the New World will take around 10 years just like the grand line did.
I don't see the group having a whole heap of people but I see maybe 15 people. I mean if we only have a 2 or 3 people join in the New World those characters will slowly get boring if there's nothing to freshen them up. I found when I was getting bored slowly of the characters was when a new crew mate would join and then that freshens everyone up.

actually, we were at 60% at the end of punk hazard.
-
actually, we were at 60% at the end of punk hazard.
We're gonna have a lot more to cover after Raftel though.
-
The crews adventures from Easr blue to the Grand line is the first half of the series. The New World is like the second. We still have 5-6 more years at least before the series ends as we are now roughly 50% through. The New world won't take up nearly as much time as the Grand Line did to be explored.

We still have 5-6 more years at least before the series ends as we are now roughly 50% through. The New world won't take up nearly as much time as the Grand Line did to be explored.
You do realize that it took 10+ years to reach 50%, so don't be so sure about those 5-6 years, we can expect at least 8 more years of One Piece.

I would not take that "60%" remark too seriously. Of course Oda has the most important stuff already planned out but he also mentioned in several interviews that he has been adding stuff along the way rather spontaneously, heck the Supernovas at Shabondy is the best example, i also doubt that Punk Hazard was planned early on.
There is so many stuff that Oda already hinted at and will most likely happen in addition to the Yonkou arcs, namely Elbaf, a Vegapunk arc, Zou + Wa No (though this could very well be in relation to Kaidou), a Revo arc and probably stuff i forgot for now. -

It took 10+ years cuz everything and everyone had to be introduced (characters new and reocurring) also plans, events etc had to be fleshed out in order to set the path for the ones to happen in the future. In my opinion that's why the Grand Line took so much time.

Are you saying that Oda won't introduce new character, create more events/incidents? Oda have the plans of what he wants to do but things can change and it may take more time to lay out his ideas, is the same thing as the first half but more chaotic and way more difficult to handle than the first half since he keeps increasing the stakes.

No. Of course Oda is gonna introduce new things in terms of plots, characters, events etc. What I mean is that it won't take up as much time as it did when the focus was still on the grand line cuz likely or not some (not all) of the major events have been leading up to events that will happen in the future thereby reducing the time needed to actually get into them. Honestly I don't think OP will last another 10 years.
