Well seeing that he's assigned to guard Doffy's most important asset in the world it could seem to be implied that he is his best fighter.
Or that whatever his ability is is best suited to guard the kid from unwanted bouts of unconsciousness. Silly example but that goop could soften blows to the head after she trips on a pebble while people like Pica seem more suited to smashing things.

as far as the series goes coby has a lot of respect for luffy, while he does, i would rather he not get it but i can see it happening especially if he shows up this arc.

at first when rebecca was introduced i instantly thought she was a contestant for actually attaining it, but the more i think about it im not so sure. she still has a lot of mystery so i guess we shall wait and see. (explained below)

not a fan of an enemy attaining the mera mera but as these are my preference this is how i would prefer it going …next nakama > enemy > > > > >ally. only enemies i want though are coby above or jesus taking it for himself or for someone from the BB pirates. not a fan of an ally taking it, its possible i just dont want it (explained below)

sabo… if anybody is more deserving its sabo. if he shows up im on the train for him 100% (if he doesnt have a fruit) if he doesnt show up, i'll still have some inkling deep down in my consciousness hoping he attains it... if he's alive :ninja:

i dont see anyone from the current crew getting it, i think they are already established in their fighting styles and im happy (so far) with it.
explanations;
1. Because the mera mera was Ace's fruit, I as an audience member will always associate the fruit with Ace. Whoever gets it will always have Ace's shadow over them and as such i want someone to represent him to the fullest. As such, i would rather a stronger fighter, headstrong and protective person to attain it. With Rebecca, i dont know if she fulfills all of these roles. she is still new so more is needed on her so she's not out the race. With Barty, he's shown to be protective and a strong fighter but more remains to be seen so he's still up in the air as well.
2. I loathe an ally getting the fruit, I can see it but i just dont like it. Such a magnificent fruit and for it to go to an ally means we might not see the development and the amazing fire moves it entails. on top of that its Ace's fruit man, it'd be great if luffy can watch over the person growing with the fruit. It'd be very heart warming.
So yea, HURRAY FOR SABO!!!!! (made the post april 16, 12:05 EST in the "what will happen to the mera mera" thread) oh what a glorious day.

we have one chapter left this year i pressume, so lets go out with a bang befire the next hiatus.

Although the way Sabo coming back… I thought it would be a lot more epic, I guess Oda didn't reveal him completely yet so that he can just tease us even more then give him a panel wide shot later.

I doubt Sabo has a fruit, I think that he might have considered taking one, then Ace died and he decided to dedicate himself to regaining the ability. I hope that he does have a fruit though, I don't like any of the fruits when all their weaknesses are known (Enel, Croco, Daz, Ace :'( )

Well i was effin hyped when i saw luffy crying, and even more hyped when i saw koala, and EVEN MORE hyped when i saw sabo, since i didn't read the spoilers. but it was obvious he was alive all the time. It was pretty tough to think otherwise, since Oda literally draw a cover of grown-up sabo 1-2 years ago.

I sure hope you're right, because I feel like I'm getting teased at this point.
Jinbe should be involved in the events that will directly succeed Dressrosa. Especially Wano.
Personally, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't wanna join up with them ASAP with all of the heat that's about to come down.
Luffy needs to have a top level fight first to show his real strength post timeskip which I don't think we have seen yet, only then can Jimbei join as pre timeskip Jimbei was stronger than Luffy. Neither Zolo nor Luffy have really been tested yet, Luffy defeating a high level opponent (maybe a dead heat draw, or dare I say it a win over Doflamingo) would go a long way to ticking that box. I know many on these forums don't think that Luffy can take Doflamingo due to the hax devil fruit and abilities of Doflamingo but I am not so sure. As for Zolo defeating the Admiral that would be pushing it too far yet contrary to what some think I doubt that Zolo would be steamrolled like many think.

Ever since the introduction of Trebol I got my hopes up for some much needed Robin spotlight. He is an extraordinary ugly male with a disgusting personality, just like Yama, Spandam, Hogback & Hammond. He would fit the pattern and is certainly strong enough to offer a proper "growth battle".

Okay, so I made it through 26 pages, but there are just too many, I have to post.
I see a lot of people saying this arc has been rushed. I just don't see it. If anything it has dragged in places here and there. We're 31 chapters in and all of that has been set dressing for what is going to be the meat and potatoes of the arc. I feel like this was the last set-up chapter before the real arc gets underway.
And, as someone who just reread the whole arc, it flows beautifully. It doesn't feel rushed at all. Even my problems with the tournament killing the momentum of the arc were rectified.
Oh, and obligatory Sabo's alive comment!!!111One

Do we know who trained Robin in combat during the timeskip? I think Robin trained with Koala and Hack(if he is a Revolutionary). Where else would Koala learn Fishman Karate? Hack knows Fishman Jujutsu so that could of been taught to Robin which she uses in her grapples perhaps.

haha jokes aside, i loved this chapter and the way it was delivered but storyline wise, i think last week really set up more things than this week. Koala was a great surprise though.

While the cover story had maybe one or two really unnecessary covers (Caribou running away), I had no problems with it either. I think the main problems some had with it was that a) they just generally didn't like Caribou, and b) this was the first normal cover story since the Sabaody Archipel, so some might aren't used to it anymore/hadn't read week-to-week back then.
In comparison the cover story felt like every other one else imho. Heck, it even had more connections to the main storyline than ever before probably. Jinbe, Yarisugi, Scotch and finally X-Drake. And I wouldn't be surprised if Gaburu won't be mentioned again later in the main story.
And this cover was really a touching end to it for me too. The granny finally accepting that this person was actually not her grandson, but still being grateful to him, was a very good conclusion and added to the already brilliant content of the rest of the chapter.

After finally reading the chapter- instead of just looking at the pictures- (thanks Tobi and C3, btw) the only problem I have is Luffy's misplaced face-fault. I feel like seeing him tear up even more would've been more appropriate than what we got.

If anyone is still doubting that Luffy will beat Doflamingo, then I dunno exactly what you were expecting from this arc.
Another defeat, then followed by a training arc?
Btw , how much of a gap do people honestly expect there to be for Luffy and Zoro against an Admiral? Especially at this point in the story, I think it's safe to assume Admirals and the Yonko will be the Grandline's equivalent to Shichibukai and high-level Pirate Captains the crew fought earlier on in the story (which for Yonko, is the apex of piracy).

I was pretty pleased when I saw him in Bellamys mini flashback. So funny seeing Doflamingo tell Bellamy "I look forward to seeing you fight", it's the look DD had on his face, those looks are rare, it was a "idgaf if you win or lose look". But seeing nor smile or be Pissed is nice, it's like seeing Luffy not being an idiot and not being Pissed, I like calm people sometimes.

probably not..the colateral effect it is not something that she is doing willingly,so weaken her with seaston or knock her out shouldn't change anything,just like luffy is still made of rubber even with seastones cuffs or under the sea.
