So much for the Summer/Fall release they stated last year. Oh well.
Funimation Strong World Thread

What do you guys think are the odds of this being shown on Toonami when released? I remember they aired Naruto movie 1 at one point.
-
It could easily come out in mid-to-late November; still fall, and the start of the holiday season.
-
The fact is we're getting it relatively soon! And not too far ahead of what would normally be Brook's debut!

I don't see them airing movie 10 on Toonami, they will probably want to do a limited theater run first and premiere the movie at a few cons before putting it on TV. I am sure it would cost a lot to air it also.
-
I think what Funimation could do is air it when Thriller Bark ends on Toonami, and put the crappy Little East Blue Arc in a less jarring place (or ignore it altogether, I wouldn't mind). It… technically is supposed to be set just before Sabaody, so I think that would be a great follow up.
-
If they're gonna air a movie on Toonami then I think movie 8 makes the most sense. It would serve as a more mature retelling of Arabasta than what people have seen on TV before, catch new viewers up on at least one major story arc, introduce them to Nico Robin, and it even paves the way for the Enies Lobby arc a little bit.
-
I'm curious as to who they're gonna get to play Shiki. I can't picture what he'd sound like in English.

No one wants to see a watered down version of the Alabasta arc.

Really now? Speak for yourself. Toonami isn't just aiming to please One Piece fans who've already seen the show subbed/FUNi-dubbed or already watched the movies. This is about gaining new viewership too.
It's really quite a good movie if you haven't seen the TV version or if all you know is the 4K!Ds dub. A story-arc-condensed-into-one-movie-film would do well to introduce new viewers to the series and it would also help to erase the show's poor image from the 4K!Ds days. Anyone can see that, your personal distaste for the movie aside.

But the movie wasn't that great, so people might not be all that interested in getting into the series.

I see where you're coming from, but they're not going to gain a lot of new viewers with a contained movie that requires previous knowledge of events beforehand in order to understand why they should care.
Unless there's like a five minute quick recap before they premiere the movie.

Anyone can see it, but that doesn't mean they're going to stick around and watch the episodes on Toonami.
-
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think an action-packed film with an intense plot line would create more immediate interest in the show than the silly Davy Back episodes. Of course Water 7/Enies Lobby is a great story arc but it'll require tuning in to the show for months before they really get to the good stuff.
Anyway, sorry I got the thread off topic a little bit.

Weird that no one here liked Strong World. I feel like everyone loved it when it first came out.
As for Brook, I thought Jerry Jewel dropped out as Kaku to play him. Duncan sounds okay, too.
Haven't loved any of the voice samples so far. Anyone else have any more?

I think they were talking about the Alabasta movie XD

We're talking about Movie 8.
-
Movie 8 would actually be fine if they could also air the Whiskey Peak prologue that was aired in Japan when the movie first aired on TV.

Strong World's okay but it was no Baron Omatsuri. It'll be a blast dubbed though. Just remembering how underwhelmed I am with SW is enough to keep my patience under control for the dub. XD
And nah, we never got any confirmation that Jewel didn't get Kaku for Brook. Since that character hasn't been casted yet and all of the Water 7 characters from Unlimited Adventure got new voices (with only a couple exceptions), I doubt Brook had anything to do with it. Though I'm sure Mike's aware it makes it convenient for him to audition, I think at the time he was most concerned with getting new blood into the voice cast to give us viewers more variation than we were used to for the past three seasons.

Regarding Movie 8, that actually was my first One Piece experience, ever. I saw that the movie cover in an ad, and went out and bought it the day it was released (which is strange for me), and watched it. I'm pretty sure I was confused, but I obviously liked it enough to start the series.
So it could work that way on others. /shrug

i hear that ONE PIECE - THE STRONG WORLD will come to theaters on this board, will it be come to ALSIP.
-
No word on a theater release. At least not yet, just speculation.
-
I saw Movie 8 in theaters in SC when they showed it few years back. If they do it again with Strong World hopefully there'll be a better turnout. When I went it was just me and some strange guy who didn't even know what One Piece was. lol.
-
that's a weird guy
-
According to the Podcast's Facebook page, Strong World will be released November 19th. About the time frame I was expecting. Still, having a definitive date is nice.
EDIT: Confirmed by Funimation via Twitter
-
i hope that is true. i cannot wait to hear brookl in english.

I'm actually the same way. I had only read a handful of manga chapters, and seen an episode or two of the 4Kids dub, but when this was first released I picked it up Day 1. I ended up loving it and still watch it every so often to this day. It was my first "real" exposure to the series, and definitely a big weight on my decision to start the manga.
-
All right, anyone from Atlanta got the beans to spill?
-
Seriously!! Who on the Internet has seen it??
-
I just wanna know if we got Fanfare playing during the credits or not.
-

A few people talked about it on the FUNi DVD thread.
-
Anyone know if the Subbed version is on the Blu-Ray or is it just the Dub?
I got it on order but can't seem to figure out if it has both or just the dub :/
-
Of course the Blu-ray has the sub also. FUNimation has never released a dub-only One Piece collection or movie.

It's supposed to take place after Thriller Bark, so you're safe to watch it after Episode 381.

Heso!
I got Strong World for Christmas. I have yet to see it. Did anyone else get it for Christmas?
-
I also got it for Christmas, the movie is awesome and the voices are great, watched it twice already.
-
Just got the BD/DVD combo in the mail today. It's a really enjoyable and different experience watching it dubbed, not to mention on an actual DVD release. Enjoyed every minute of it.
