I'm gonna laugh when the truth comes out that they just shipped a million units.
The Microsoft / XBONE 180 thread
-
-
The number of Xbones is worldwide. The number of PS4s was just in the US. I don't think the PS4 has released in other countries yet. It was staggered iirc.
This is assuming they're not both lying.
Edit: Also
-
Oh, I don't think it's a lie. And shipped/sold has to be pretty similar at launch anyways.
Just curious about the different ways Sony/Microsoft gets their numbers.
-
Sony will get up to 4 million by December, and then get up to 6 million at the end of the year at least
-
That's a hell of prediction.
-
That's a hell of prediction.
Yeah, that requires an insane amount of bare-minimum production, much less sales.
-
Considering it hasn't hit its worldwide release yet and we've still got Black Friday and Christmas, I don't think it's an overshoot to think 6 million worldwide by the end of the year. Though I'd expect the XBone to do close to the same, maybe less because of the higher price tag.
-
^ Makes me wonder how much more the one will cost in Brazil considering what's going on there with the PS4.
-
The first week never comes without crashes and failures, right Microsoft?

Didn't the PS4 have multiple issues as well? [http://www.dailyfinance.com/2013/11/24/what-you-should-know-about-the-ps4s-blue-light/

-
Yes the PS4 does have some hardware & I think some software issues to boot but remembering how the One had all that bad press leading up to the launch this news doesn't do MS any favors and god forbid the One winds up having a failure rate on par with the 360.

WiiU was just as bad. If your internet crashed during the initial set up, it bricked the system. And I got Red Light of Death'd after having mine for only a week.
-
^ Damn that's some fucked up shit about the WiiU.

Apparently if you swear in a private Skype chat, you get banned from Xbox live hahahah

That is pretty goddamn hilarious, yes.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!! The irony, it GLEAMS.
-
I heard something about the new Fifa game where the refs in the game will actually respond to your swearing and will be more harsh against you too. Glad that extra processing power is being put to good use.
-
Never thought someone else would attempt to make such a child friendly console.
-
^ Given the nonsense of the last system apart of me almost can't blame them for what they're trying to do.
-
Boner
-
It does that with the PS4 camera mic too. It's the game
-
I'm sorry, but I think that is un-ironically amazing.
In the sense of being completely hilarious, of course.
-
Dat immersion .
-

Does it? Well a boner on both their houses. Like a game penalizing you for cursing will mitigate the damage.
-
Actually the blame (if it's even deserved) is on 2K Sports.
-

I think its great. Besides its 2k who implemented it.
Also there is an option to turn it off so you can swear all you want.
-

Although, that said, what blame? Honestly, the fact that so many people seem to be taking this absurdly seriously, decrying it as the beginning of the end and whatnot, just makes the whole situation even more ridiculous. It's funny, folks, learn to laugh sometimes!
-
People are just worried that this is a step away from games spying on boners. Think of the outrage when people get penalized for boners.

The future is here, Wag. Just think of it, finally, Visual Novels will be able to reach a new plateau of interactivity, beyond just clicking on each next dialogue option!
-
^ Given MS,Sony, & Nintendo's stances on sex in video games I assume it would just be Visual Novels without the adult material in it?
-
But it's a slippery slope!
When they came for the boners, I didn't speak out because I didn't have one.
-
Hmmm so Microsoft is still in this bitch.
-
Are those PS4 results (2.1 million) really close enough to the current ones though? Cause they posted those numbers only a couple of days after the the Europe and UK launches I think.
Either way, this proves the Xbox one won't go down without a fight in the US
-
Xbone decides it's going to have its DRM return in the middle of a Killer Instinct tournament. During the check the guy was entirely kicked out of the game. I don't know when this got reimplemented if it was one of the things initially removed or not.
-
Everyone called it… I mean unless they did some complete shit job on the KI code and didn't take stuff out that was there BEFORE their original 180. If they really are bringing it back then I hope they feel a serious impact from disgruntled fans. But most likely people will just throw their bag of Doritos against the wall, drink another Dew and try again.
-
I posted this in the general video game thread, but I figured it would be more fitting to post here, especially since this thread has been dry the last two weeks.
So had the chance to try out a demo of the "all-in-one, Xbox One" by Microsoft.I played Forza 5. The graphics weren't mind-blowing or "holy, this is so next-gen" but they were solid I guess. Obviously, because it's a kiosk demo, I stood close to the TV. So the aliasing and jaggies were glaring, a little bit. Like, moreso than any kiosk demo of a PS3, 360, or Wii U game that I've tried. But overall, the graphics were still actually good, that aside. I couldn't help but notice the sprites of the fans though; it was embarrassing to look at pre-rendered, non-moving fans.
The controller, meh, I don't know. The thumb sticks felt pretty nice. But the triggers and bumpers are awful. I got finger cramps when using the Right Trigger. The bumpers are also weird, cause you have to press them to the sides. The face buttons were normal - in the sense that they were good. The D-pad was improved - though, I didn't really get to use a game that made heavy use of it. The rumble/"impulse triggers" were pretty nice in Forza. I'm not a fan of the shape of the controller though. The 360 controller and the PS4 controller nailed it in this department. I don't know why Microsoft made the controller more slanted towards the middle. It's a downgrade in some ways. The D-pad also felt a little farther away than it had to, to be honest.
For what it's worth, the controller looks sexy as hell. Going to the main menu was seamless as well, I guess.

So Twitch live-streaming has launched and… it blows the PS4's streaming capabilities out of the water. It's 720p vs. PS4's 540p. It's also very clear, it appears it might be using CBR whereas PS4 seems to use VBR. For those who don't understand what that means, basically CBR makes every frame look as good as possible, whereas VBR makes only certain frames look as good as possible (usually little motion) and others look heavily compressed and pixelated (such as high-motion).
I've watched a few streams at the max setting (720p @ 2.5meg) and it is pretty much on par with any capture card 720p streaming. This makes me actually want an Xbone One and hope HOPE that Sony patches their live streaming capabilities to match. They NEED to. Twitch.tv is the future, livestreaming isn't slowing down and it will someday soon conquer YouTube in the video game department.

Titanfall launched yesterday and while many got to play it many also didn't
-
I don't know why people are surprised. This happens with every game with an online component. I saw people not being able to play Dark Souls 2 online too. I think it's easier to count how many games weren't affected by this than how many that were.
-

Guess Titanfall fans overestimated how the game would perform. To me it's overrated.
-
More Microsoft overestimated the ability of it's cloud servers to handle the traffic that would be coming from slews of people booting up Titanfall to play online.
Same thing Nintendo just went through with the Pokemon Bank though apparently not as bad.
-
How come they haven't announced sales yet?

Xbox Live: secure against malicious users age 4 and under.

It's funny to see shooters evolving in similar direction.
Titanfall bringing verticality to to maps? Sunset Overdrive does it as well and from what I've seen with more focus on it.Not going to lie Sunset Overdrive looks kind of fun, tony hawk meets first person shooter I could get behind that theoretically.
-
SO looks good.
It reminds me of the old whacky games you saw in the OG Xbox, and on the 360 during its first 6 years
if the XBone was like that, I wouldn't mind it winning this gen tbh.
Cause I just want different types of games, many games don't bring me real satisfaction, they feel like trials
-
You should amend your thinking about any company "winning this gen".
It's terrible and wishing for/not minding market domination for any company is incredibly shortsighted.
Best consumer scenario is having one company be slightly ahead of the others to have them constantly try one upping one another. -

Best consumer scenario is having one company be slightly ahead of the others to have them constantly try one upping one another.I'd rather have a company have a sizeable lead and than to be "slightly ahead".
Whenever all companies have sales parity, the market gets stagnant and they play it safe.
As where when there's one clear winner that's pulling out ahead, the losing companies put out a lot of interesting/experimental/awesome games to help try and boost their console since they were desperate. (5th and 6th generations are examples. Sega in the dreamcast days were epic. Nintendo was pretty much utilizing every IP they had and then some during the gamecube days. the Xbox had a lot of awesome original games.)
The 360 started out amazing because they were heavily the underdog and had to one up the PlayStation's brand dominance.
Hell, part of why Sony pulled the PS3 around is because it was getting it's ass kicked handily. (It was when the consoles were on relatively equal footing during the last two years, that, well, the market kind of lacked much different games outside of indies.)
And a similar thing is happening to the Xbone, as the PS4 is almost beating it by twice the amount worldwide. And now you see Phil Spencer focusing on games now.
