! Damn Ichiryuu and his mustache, looks cool as hell, and Jirou with his delinquent style. Midora looks like Toriko
Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
-
-
I don't think so(at least not all of them). The fact that Ootake was infused with Gourmet Cells was immediately noted by Toriko. My theory is that people who are born with some sort of scar, birthmark or similar abnormality are natural possessors of Gourmet Cells and that people who are forcibly injected with them undergo varying, and sometimes drastic transformations.
But if you think about Ichiryuu or Jirou…well, they didn't have any visibile scar like Midora.
And the three scars under Toriko's eye are way different from Midora's or Ootake's scars.! ![](Midora: ...M...
My...
My scars on my face...
Guys: !
Acacia: I've heard that while Gourmet Cells themselves have existed in this world since ancient times...
they only appear on extremely rare occasions through atavism...
Midora, you were born with your Gourmet Cells.
Cells that start out with )
Did I call it or did I call it? -
So Pair is a nitro, huh? A Blue one.
-
Or the Nitros brought PAIR
Also, wanna point out something that had a couple members of another forum confused.
Red Nitros doesn´t implies the nitros are red. So Blue Nitros don´t necesarily had to be blue.
One of the red Nitros that fought Zebra was green.
-
very good chapter again this week.. and i am really glad that Shima actually addressing about "devil serpent/orochi = legendary wolf" from the early chapters of Toriko..

but are they the same kind as all the previous Nitro showed in the manga or they are different?
-
Well, one is different in that it seems to be fat..

"The 8 Beast Kings"
1. "Legendary King" Battle Wolf
2. "Bully of the Skies" Emperor Crow
3. "Mother of all Snakes" Mother Snake
4. Derous Dragon
5. "Horse King" Heraku
6. Blue Nitro/Pair

I don't think the ones Zebra fought were Red Nitro. The two that attacked Joa were not the same ones Zebra fought.

When was the dragon mention?

When was the dragon mention?
The material Komatsu's knife is made out of is known as a "Derous Fang". The fang of a dragon is said to have once ruled the world.
-
Oh my god that cliffhanger. I liked the explanation on the Devil Serpent - Battle Wolf rivalry, and of Mansam's miraclous recovery early at the colisseum. Nice seeing young Setsuno, too. I hope this doesn't end in the next 2-3 chapters, because I have liked the characterization so far.
-
"The 8 Beast Kings"
King Land Shark. One of Em Beast Kings.
-
The last two chapters were great and a much needed breathing space from the nonstop fighting (i just jope, that they wont fight the nitros next chapter)- And I am curious how the author will handle the inevitable fall of madora. Till now it all fells surprisingly well written.
But am I the only one, that has a problem with Frohze? For such a legendary figure, she is extremely bland and boring. I just have a little bit of hope left, that Joa is indeed the real Frohze and that she has some hidden dark side.
-
Frohze, bland? What the hell are you smoking?
Those who wondered why would the Devil Serpent be considered the legendary enemy of the Battle Wolf finally got their answer to it.
Also, PAIR and the Blue Nitro, whom Acacia just said no one can defeat them!
It's just amazing how Mitsutoshi planned out this.
-
Great chapter, no time to comment :(
Only one thing: what's the meaning of the line Midora (or Acacia?) says after the explanation about his scars ("How dare that utterly selfish devil show his face…").

I believe that was Midora recalling some harsh words of the citizens who saw him as just a monster.

@Hisoga: I´m following someone else´s theory about the Red/Blue Nitro.
The Red Nitro are a subcategory that specializes in raw power and berserk attitude, better suited for the Bishokukai to use as grunts on battles (except that, as Zaragira pointed out, they did wound/kill some of the chefs they had to capture alive and mostly unharmed)
The Blue Nitro is another subcategory that specializes more in its intelligence and deductive ability. This makes them more fearsome because they know what is going on and how to counter it. The Nitro in Vegetable Sky was most likely a Blue Nitro.
-
That water is realy convinient, hum Starjum.:ninja:
-
So the Gourmet cells of people born with them are "tougher" in someway.
Going to go ahead and assume Toriko was born with them as well, due to him being the main character, and having those trademark scars. Maybe Starjun as well, though, that might just be a burn mark.
-
This flashback alone blows the last 30 or 40 chapters of Toriko put together out of the water (except Sani vs Tommy; that was glorious beyond believe).
Great characterization, great world building, great mystery building, and surprisingly good writing.
Also, will you look at that; the chapters last more than 30 seconds once again!

This is not Naruto nor Bleach, you know.

Compared to the introduction of setsuno for example. But it might change in the next chapters.

It may slightly surprise you, but some people have actually some higher standards of quality then naruto or bleach.
-

We know she ate the entire Acacia's full course so she had complete control over her Gourmet Cells. We must wait for some battle (or something similar) to begin.
@Glowstuff:So the Gourmet cells of people born with them are "tougher" in someway.
So Midora was born with Gourmet Cells but, wait if I got it, Ichiryuu and Jirou not?
I don't understand the time-line of this flashback in comparison with the actual time. The flashback must be set over 500 years ago. Acacia has a background crazy as hell. He captured ALL the ingredients around! But he shows signs of aging in just 10 years…while Frohze seems still "fresh". How old were Acacia when he died?
So...Ichiryuu defeated the Four Beasts (or Beast? I saw only one "limb" in this flashback) and Jirou knocked the main body with ease. How superior were these two in comparison with the Four Heavenly Kings?
And Frohze uses Food Immersion...About the "Eight Kings", I think we have at leat 4, 5 or even 6 of them:
- Mother Snake;
- Battle Wolf;
- Emperor Crow;
- Derous Dragon;
- King Land Shark;
- Heraku Horse.
I'm not sure about those last two but for the others I've got no doubt.
-
This could be for 126, since One Piece's previews were reversed, but no way to be sure.

Wow.. this thread need more of theory and discussion like this.. thanks btw.
i am glad Shima introduced another type of Nitro. before this, they doesn't really look like some ancient uber and intelligent race at all.. other than being super strong even thought that too had been tarnished in the recently Cooking tournament arc just to show how strong some characters are. -
Mansam hinself told Toriko that Acacia discovered them, about 500-600 years ago. Also, they build the "Gourmet Pyramid" which is at least centuries old.
We know Nitros have been on the planet since long ago…
-
The chapter gave us a hint about how is Toriko going to grow back his missing limbs this time.

Nah, it just give Starjun an excuse for not having a hole in his chest right now.:ninja:
(just joking by the way):p -
Why does everybody mention regrowing? It was chopped of, it was mentioned that reattaching limbs is rather easy.
-
Great chapter.
Thanks to Kewl are in order, naturally :D
-
YES ! Blue Nitros !!!

But his left arm got completely reduced to ashes.

But his left arm got completely reduced to ashes.
Yosaku explained that healing a wound, though serious, is another thing than regrowing an entire limb. And probably Starjun healed himself firstly with some sort of Dark (cutting/revitalizing) Technique.
Now I wonder what is the cause behind Midora's change. He was a good guy after all. Yes, he suffered a lot but his family cared a lot about him and behaved like a real good family.
What if he'll kill Joa in the future? -

What if he'll kill Joa in the future?Probably when Froze and most likely Acacia, too, sacrificed their lives to serve the full course to the world leaders whom Midora is still hating. Probably he's like… No! You don't have to sacrifice to end the war. Duck the war. Duck all of them. Froze dies. Since Midora won't be able to taste the very first memory of him being a person - won't be able to eat Froze's cookings, his bottomless stomach is not going to be satisfied anymore.
Now that what I can't wait to see. He'll eat Neo.
-
But…I don't think Acacia and Frohze died soon after GOD.
-
But…I don't think Acacia and Frohze died soon after GOD.
We know Acacia died shortly after ending the World War. Since Frohze died before the Cooking Festivals started, we know that she died at least 50 years before the start of the story. Considering that Frohze and Setsuno are the same age and Setsuno only looks old, it's likely that obtaining GOD or PAIR was what aged them considerably. It's most likely PAIR, because if you look at Acacia, only 10 years have passed, and he seems to have aged considerably.
-
When did we know Acacia died shortly after GOD? And we know Frohze died more than 200 years ago because the first Cooking Festival took place 200 years ago and the former winner was Joa.
-
Spoilers are out of what it appears to be the last chapter of the flashback.
-
! no no no NO, at the last page.
-
! I was okay with the Blue Nitro and Pair not getting a real appearance/explanation in the flashback, but still would've like to know more about them, or at least get more of a hint than what was given.
! I'll wait for scans to see for sure, but I feel like Midora's transition to evil could have had more room to breathe (though like I said, this could be good enough depending on Frohze's last words to him and what the actual rationale was for him to become "evil/selfish"). Also find Setsuno's appearance this chapter a bit off since the only thing shown of her is being Jirou's partner instead of knowing the family personally.
! Overall though I liked the content of the flashback. -
! Looks like it´s gonna be a thriller night
! Now being serious, this chapter made me really sad. Midora must feel extremely guilty. Also, I believe we are going to get a good view of the Blue Nitros sooner or later, so I don´t mind we haven´t seen them yet. -
! So wait….did they...burry her alive ?
-
! i wonder how much time passes from the 2 of them leaving with the blue nitro and then acacia coming back. I mean acacia has a full grown beard and i assume god was cooked in the time they're gone. It could've also given setsuno time to get to know them making her appearance at the funeral more uderstandable (of course it's hard to judge how much interaction she had with frohze prior to her leaving)
also setsuno's outfit is so random -

I will wait for the tranlated chapter, but i'm so tired of zombie crap even if Shimabukuro makes it work I'm not sure if I like it.
Fuck naruto. -
! Also why can't Setsuno look like that now ?
! As opposed to just having old ladies in the top positions till now ? -
I'm starting to think Jirou was the strongest of the 3.

This post is deleted!

! Also why can't Setsuno look like that now ?

! i didn't mean anything by it i just thought the whole Tarzan-y design was so odd compared to what she wears now
and if your not referring to me then, i don't know :ninja:

! It's just more of showing vs telling. Realize the focus wasn't Sersuno but would've liked more than one panel of Setsuno hanging with the family (and she was only shown with the boys) if she was going to be there for the funeral.
Huh. Thought I saw someone reply to me.
