And so them turning into kids was completely pointless.
errr, he just wanted to make an excuse to make erza naked and strip someone else for her cloth! he planed it for 3 chaps! dat dedication!

They were turned in to kids so they could be weakened and defeated. That was the point. We know they weren't going to lose or keep losing and die so everyone should've known they wouldn't have stayed kids forever for the simple fact that that development would stop Mashima's ability for crotch shots and cleavage.

You dare doubt Mashima's ability? He will always find a way to throw in a fanservice shot! Age, gender, race, species! they all mean nothing to him.

Only if their are from femaly gender,Gray and the perfume dude (I'm not even gonna bother myself to remember his name).
I kept thinking this all seemed familiar but it was the Gray business that finally clinched it.
Wonder Woman as a little girl is so darn cute I think my teeth just rotted.
Just reminds me how meh Wendy is as a character. She's just no fun is the problem.
Wendy is a loli with cat's ears: that's more than enough as a bait for pervs, which is basically her role in the manga. Sure, you could add glasses, but this could be too much to handle…
My memory fails me when it comes to Fairy Tail. By the love of God I can't remember any of the story arcs. There was parallel world in Edolas, but I have no clue what happened there, and how, and why. Then Gerard's tower… uh. That's pretty much it. Only thing I remember is the stupid S-class selections with Hades and Acnologia and gut-wrenching "timeskip"... but only because it's recent.
So, I ask you, WHAT EVER HAPPENED IN FAIRY TAIL? And this is a serious question. A timeline would help a lot. I hope.

There is a wiki. But Fairy Tail is actually a very simple story with lots of drawings of boobs and loli and the like.
yes Fairy Tail is a simple story
basic summary of the manga is magic guild goes out on missions

Fairy Tail is about Lucy joining an infamous guild known as Fairy Tail.
Fairy Tail has always been her dream since she was young because Fairy Tail is great.
The stort starts off in Village Forgettable where alleged rapist under the name of Salamander Natsu offers Lucy in invitation to Faux Fairy Tail in exchange for sexual favors. Little did Lucy know that she was being fooled. Then stuff happens. Real Natsu appears thinking that alledged rapist Salamander Natsu was a dragon found out he was not a dragon, gets pissed, burns down a ship with several passengers on board and saves Lucy from being subjected. Natsu then invites Lucy to Fairy Tail. Oh yeah. Natsu is motion sick on vehicles. This is super important!
So yeah. Lucy joins Fairy Tail, accomplishes her life long dream and no her character is completely irrelevant. Stuff happens where her parents died but that's okay cuz the nakamas in the guild became her new familys and Natsu is her to-be butt monkey husband. The real story then reveals itself to be about Natsu's epic quest to find a dragon named ignell because he may been his concived father that abandoned him off the side of the road when he was like 6 years old, ALTHOUGH time itself seems like it does not matter since the realm Dragon Slayers trained in does seem to work like time does on Earth. Earth? Or was it Eldoras? I forget. Well ANYWAY! Natsu and even lolicons like Wendy are probably over 100 years old by real world standards. This is very important, because it's not really it's not very important sorry for wasting your precious time.
In the last arc, the Dragons showed themselves, even though they were not really the real dragons because time travel, a dead Future Lucy with preferably dead Fairy Tail members did something with a time machine in the future and then went to the past and undid everything. Ohhhhhh. I think I'm moving waaaay ahead of myself. Before this, there was a Time Skip because a bishe known the Great and Powerful Evil Wizard ZERIF killed some grass and a Zancrow guy with death and uh… where am I going with this? Oh yeah! These guys called the Seven Kin of Purgatory made some boring stuff happen during a boring S-Class guild exam, despite how important gaining ranks in a guild named Fairy Tail is supposed to be. Due to how absolutely boring everything was, a dragon from out of nowhere got tired of it and decided to kill everyone on Boring Island. In result, the somewhat decent but still shitty Fairy Tail members all gathered in a circle holding eachother hand like people do at church to ask thier god Hiro Mashima for forgiveness because they were boring. Then the bored dragon was like FUCK THIS SHIT and blew up the island with Fairy Tail on it.
Everyone is now dead. Next chapter they are not dead. It was revealed that loli Hiro Mashima aka Mevis aka God of Fairy Tail blew a bubble that stopped time and space for exactly 1095.75 days or 3 years. During these three years some random little boy from an early chapter stopped smiling because his story wasn't approved to be published. But it's not important because that story was filler, so back to the somewhat decent but still shitty Fairy Tail members that survived that not-tragic explosion on Boring Island. They came back, thought everyone was doing an awful job with the guild then went to participate in a tournament to save a princess from a time machine and dragon bones that was hidden underground in the stadium for no god damned reason. But point is, they wanted to fight some no named losers that were bigger losers than themselves in a ring in order for the self-hating people of the world to have respect for Fairy Tail again.
Hmm. Yeah. I think that's it. Fairy Tail ended when the main character, a sock, died several chapters ago. Now Hiro is wrapping up loose ends by covering extiting stuff. Like a Dark Guild, a wedding for Gerard and his two fiances, no named woman and jelous-but-into-threesomes Erza. And oh! Something about a Dragon Feast. I don't know what that is but hey, people are looking forward for Hiro to draw a good piece of roasted chicken for dragons to eat and enjoy like they do Fairy Tail as a manga. Because Fairy Tail is chicken.

I'm laughing immensely.
But….I think Romeo's stint as main character lasted one and a half chapters, during which he did nothing.
After being foreshadowed at a random point in the previous arc.
Seriously what was up with that ?
The sock.
The sock was the most realistic and tragic character of the whole manga. Ace's death was a mere afternoon yawn, compared to what happened to the sock. You can't stop bawling, while thinking about it.
Just remember of the sock and you'll be fine with Fairy Tail, forever. Or, at least, as long as you can bear with this story…
The magnum opus that is Fairy Tail:
A teen with unimaginative fire powers want to find a dragon. He pursues this dream by not looking for it.
While this is going on, fire-teen and his buddies fight the current episodes villains, who usually want to use the powers of Evil Superwizard Zeref for their own ends.
Said evil superwizard wants to destroy the world. He decided on on this after walking around aimlessly for a few years. This is dramatic, and I guess the job of fire teen and his friends to handle. Because the world ending means that Fire-Teen won't be able to find the dragon I guess?
I think thats about everything of relevance.
FEARI TEIRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
best manga 2013
gray is so kawai desu
Rmember that 1 wek where Gray-sama was DEAD?
that wuz SOOOOO SAAAAAAAAD ;_____;
I remember people falling for it.
It's like Hiro Mashima saying "Hey look! A UFO" in order to distract a ferocious house cat.
Wasn't the timeskip 7 years?

Oh god the posts about Hiro "raising the stakes" or whatever.
Oh and Gray didn't even get offed by a dragon, just the random Godzilla hatchlings that came out of nowhere. Cause Gray.
GrayxErza r best couple eva. lol fuck hat0rz!! FT is awesome and Hiro is 1 of teh BESt authors and that 1piece guy only copied his stuff
I just remembered after looking at this thread that I forgot to read this the last couple of weeks…Do we ever have any villains that don't get given the 2nd chance/about to get friended scene in this?

Hey, that Dragon has gone into deep hiding and isn't easily found. Furthermore when Gildartz found a dragon Natsu did want to go after it. And if you dislike evil dudes trying to destroy the world, then most shounen fantasy isn't for you.

A few from the beginning. That dude with the flute for instance. And the forgiveness part is also something which Dragonball had. Anyone remember Yamcha, Krillin, Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta and android 18?
Seriously dudes, just go and edit tvtropes. This is the stuff you expect reading childrens stories.

Seriously, what progress has Natsu made towards this goal of his. Igneel gets mentioned every blue moon, but theres no indication that Natsu is any closer to his goal than before.
And if you dislike evil dudes trying to destroy the world, then most shounen fantasy isn't for you.
What is Zerefs relation to the heroes. What is the conflict beyond Zeref wants to kill everything, and that happens to include Fairy Tail.
Zerefs shtick of "The world is evil so I will KILL IT BETTER" is so goddamn trite and generic, even by JRPG standards. It's not the world being at stake thats the problem, its that the execution of it is so tremendously lame in Fairy Tail.
Seriously dudes, just go and edit tvtropes. This is the stuff you expect reading childrens stories.
IT IS FOR CHILDREN SO QUALITY AND INTELLIGENCE NEED NOT BE PRESENT is an argument that needs to be banned by law. Seriously, just look at the Shonen adventure manga this forum is based around. Does it have Tropes? Sure it does, but execution is everything, and Fairy Tails failure in that department is inarguable.

There was a guy with a flute…?
So what if it was in Dragonball? That doesn't make it a good trope just because it's used a lot. And I don't expect heavy amounts of T&A in my children's stories either. Did you happen upon a rare copy of naughty Dr. Suess books as a kid? :ninja:
Just because something is meant "for kids" doesn't mean you don't have to try.
Masihma doesn't try, he's a hack. Actions don't have consequences in his stupid little world, he'd rather waste time detailing cleavage shots.
@The:

Yeah finding a dragon which doesn't want to be found and can fly over a continent is kinda hard.

Yeah, obviously OP and DB are much better than FT. I do find FT enjoyable. I still would give FT a passing grade, but not full marks as I would give OP and DB.

Hey, Akira Toriyama is like the best manga author ever. And I do happen to like the redemption trope both in DB and in FT. I liked how Makarov recruited Gajeel. The T&A is indeed a bit overdone in FT, but IMHO not as much as some people here claim it to be.

I always cringe whenever that is the villains entire motivation and reasoning.
Because clearly all the bad things in the world will get solved with all life being eradicated, cause then there's no one to be bad to anyone else.
Cause cleary
these guys have the right idea.
Yeah finding a dragon which doesn't want to be found and can fly over a continent is kinda hard.
Reaching Raftel is like, a really really big hassle too.
But even if finding Igneel was 100% impossible, the point is Natsu never TRIES. Theres no arc of him going out in the world, and seeing for himself that "dang, I can't find him". And if its so damn impossible that no human could ever hope of finding Igneel, it means that the only way Natsus goal can be resolved is whenever Igneel decides to show up and LET HIMSELF be found.
Thats pretty damn pathetic when we're talking about the main characters dream, and it just goes to show how little FT has going for it in terms of overarching plot.
Yeah, obviously OP and DB are much better than FT. I do find FT enjoyable. I still would give FT a passing grade, but not full marks as I would give OP and DB.
Theres not a single thing I would say FT does well. It is 50% Meh, 50% awful, and 100% forgettable. it only works if you're very green to shonen, and the cliches of this type of story in general.
Mashima want to make the guy with the flute be friend with FT guild, but the anime team did that first.
@No:
these guys have the right idea.
Now don't go dragging Sid and the Gang into this; they've never done anything to deserve being put on the same level as a Fairy Tail character.
Hey guys I haven't read Fairy Tail since the tail end of that dragon arc, so I'm gonna jump in and read Chapter 349 without any context. Come join me!
Hey that one guy is on the cover! The one from the evil guild that became a good guild because they lost to Fairy Tail or something.
Three pages of Mangastram fanarts
Did Grey get smaller?
Grey's brain hasn't regressed at all. He went from an IQ of 7 to an IQ of 7!
Imagination rainbows
Grey's hammer is so inadequate.
MAYBE YOU SHOULD ICE MAKE YOUR HAMMER INTO BETTER DECISIONS
Nothing is more hilarious than a small child filling a guy's head with cocaine.
Oh hey it's Minerva! And she's… okay...
Erza's taken a level in Talk no Jutsu
Just when Minerva talks in tongue's, Erza's boobs begin to glow with Deus Ex Machina power
Why is Erza not wearing pants?
Strategically placed hair strands are a Mashima's best friend
PANTY THIEF!
Erza went for a grope :3
Gray has abs again. His brain functions haven't increased and his hammer hasn't either
The lesson here is that cocaine turns you into whatever that thing is
It can't be...!
Calling it now, Toothy's weakness is pressing the power button on his forehead.
New chapter is out:
http://readms.com/r/fairy_tail/350/2045/1
Well, that's the most hilarious cliffhanger I've seen yet.
So the whole "everyone turns into kids again" thing was filler we could have avoided entirely, given how Gray beat him in the end.
Nice.
who hates fun and still reads fairy tail?
who hates fun and still reads fairy tail?
Isn't hating all forms of enjoyment pretty much the only reason why anyone would seriously follow Fairy Tail at this point ? :O
Nice one, Hiro-chan. Using the powered-up fodder demon to show everyone in their loli form. And then have the fodder demon get fodderized by…whatever the fuck Gray did.

He became a conductor….for ice.
@No:
He became a conductor….for ice.
Ugh how did I not see that? It's so obvious even.
I'm not sure about what happens in the end, after Gray's monologue: he touches some ice, then a random explosion takes down the guy with a Compaq Presario power switch drawn on his forehead… probably Gray randomly sucked power from the ice and shot it, but something seems strange. Nevermind.
It seems that Mashima's lolicon is getting worse and this worries me...
So this seems like a powerup/training arc a bit, Grey is going to tame that overpowered ice, while Natsu tames the eternal flame.
I mean it would seem that way, but this is Fairy Tail and power-ups are 1 time use only.
DEUS EX MASHIMA
The manga
gray should have just pressed the power button on that guys forehead
At the very least Hiro had the guys turn into lolis too. It doesn't seem QUITE as loli fanservice forced that way, coz it would be utter bullshit if only the girls changed. Well, it's only half utter bullshit this way.
This manga is a great source on how to NOT write a manga. Seriously if I ever meet Hiro i'm shaking his hand cause without him showing me what I shouldn't do in a manga I might have
ended up making the same mistakes.

You're making a manga?
You're making a manga?
yeah i've been working on one for over 10 years now. I have some of it on smackjeeves and some more of it on facebook. I haven't been able to post any new material though.
As far as chapter count is concerned i'm at chapter 225. Of course I had made some of the mistakes that Hiro has made, like 1 time asspull power ups but the difference between me and him
is that I did it just once and never mentioned it again.
