It honestly looks like they're just releasing the Third again.
Ugh I thought one of the directiors said they were gonna scale back after the respond to the third game. It looks goofier then ever.
Not to say the Third was bad just felt too jarring a shift after playing part 2.
The wackier the better! Distance yourself as far as possible from "GTA clone" as you can!
Just prepurchased the game and allready made a lot of characters in the demo, cant wait for the actual game to come out!!!
Only four posts, half of which are positive and half seem negative. Not surprising. I fall in on the positive side. I'm definitely gonna pick this up at some point, once it's a bit cheaper.
A whole glut of reviews for the game came out yesterday, and while I won't say it's getting universal acclaim, the reaction has been mostly positive. It currently has an 86 on Metacritic. The highest score I've seen so far is a 9.5/10. The lowest score so far is a 6/10.
I was looking at the cast list, and I see that they kept most of the same voice actors for The Boss, like Troy Baker and Robin Atkin Downes. But then something caught my eye– Apparently, Nolan North has joined the cast as the "Nolan North Voice". I might just have to pick that one out of sheer amusement.
My biggest disappointment with what I've seen of this game is that they're reusing the same map from Saints Row 3. A large portion of the appeal for me is exploring a new city. This feels more like an expansion pack.
I don't really get the appeal of this game.. I really liked the second one and even though the third was a giant step down, it still was a okay game. It ruined alot of things which was great about the first and the second but this game is just wrong in my book.
It's the same graphics at the third, a reharshed map also from the third, character customization is the same as from the third except some new haircuts and the like. In my opinion they should have kept the sci-fi away from the games.. It just dont fit it. Like forexample the superpowers looks like fun but only for a few minutes.. In the end of the third you were already WAY to overpowered. The only way to take damage was getting hit by meele attacks.
I dont get how this game could get so high reviews since it is just the third on crack…
Suggesting The Third already wasn't on crack?
More like PCP .
Sorry for all you saints row loyalists but allow me to be a small ray of light on the cloudy day that is saints row IV. I never played or was interested in the series but when I saw the war for humanity trailer I was hooked and felt compelled to buy it. So at least the change to what appears to be the tone of the original has drawn in one new person to the franchise. Hopefully it did the same for others.
The series may have shifted direction but if it gets the franchise another installment isn't that worth it?
I was completely oblivious to the series before the Third, and most I've seen and played of SR2 had quite the shade of ridiculiousness to it too so I'm rather dumbfounded to be hearing people hating the direction the series has taken. I guess before it was a straight up GTA clone with a sense of humor and that's what people are wanting back?
Well for me the difference between Saint's row 2 and Saint's row the third was similar to the difference between Shaun of the dead and Scary movie 5. Whilst both were comedy parodies one of them was capable of also making me feel for the characters and the events that were going on even with all the comedy thrown in there, whilst the other one had me laughing but not really engaging with what was going on as all I was doing was waiting for the next reference or dildo joke. both were fun to play and SR3 definitely had the better gameplay, but for me SR2 had the better world which is what's most important in a sandbox game.
To SR4's credit it looks different enough and crazy enough to be fun on its own merit and it's probably the best direction the series could have gone after 3. I'll probably pick it up when it's a bit cheaper.

Yeah that was just it, SR2 was grounded more but still had a good sense of fun within it. It's not so much it was a GTA clone in that it felt entirely different from it. It had story arcs, a nice sense of progression. Triumph and loss but a good balance between the two plus better customization as well. 3 and 4 are not bad games but the shift to more over the top antics was very jarring especially in the wait in between 2 and 3. Yeah it's fanboy nitpicking but it was a glaring one that was very hard to ignore.
My problem with 3 was that so far into the game every mission was a different mini-game, and I hate forced mini-games in games. I think I put it down and never ever had the patience to pick it up again.
I'll pick up SR4 once it comes down in price, which judging from 3 will probably be less than £20 once October hits.
