I was convinced Monet had some sort of light green hair, but I didn't expect the same color scheme for her clothes. I was expecting a hot pink color scheme.
I thought Caesar Clown had a purple color scheme.

@400MillionBelis:
I thought the guy who "captured and turned in" fake Kuro was just common fodder (at least in story impact). Turns out he became Axe-Hand Morgan :wassat:
holy shit!!! thank you for pointing that out lol i never would have known
The best thing of reading oldest theories are the laugh you get from them…
I thought that centaurs, satyrs and harpies were real and result of some ancient scientific research that also created merfolk.
in fact where is arlong? was he not sent to impel down?
It was never said that he got sent to Impel Down after Luffy defeated him.
-i also thought duval was don krieg before his reveal.
in fact where is arlong? was he not sent to impel down?
he was captured by the marines.i suppose there are other prisons than impel down.probably each sea has its own set of prisons, and any particularly notorious pirate is sent to impel down.
I thought each of the Straw Hats would get a 1 on 1 fight with the Supernovas back when they were introduced lol
Thinking Big Mom would be the Straw Heart Alliances targeted Yonko.
I thought Usopp was going to join the giants from enies lobby and go to Elbaf
I thought Smoker was God Tier when he first fought Luffy at Loguetown. I was pretty much thinking, "How can you even fight against someone like this?"
I thought that when Law started collapsing and coughing up blood, it was Mystery Man Vergo's Devil Fruit ability. I thought it was the ability to make people severely ill.
I thought Shanks was no one of particular importance other than being the one who inspired Luffy (in other words, I didn't expect him to be one of the most (in)famous and powerful pirates in the series).
Like a lot of others, I thought BM was the Yonkou they were going after and Buffalo was the hairy okama guy.
I thought Brook would defeat Ryuuma and get his shadow back himself.
I thought Moriah was pronounced like "Mariah"* and Donquixote was "Don-quicks-oat".
*I have a friend named Moriah, and her name is pronounced like Mariah.
I thought when i was seeing the anime that Arlong was dead after the building fall on top of him.
I was wrong…. mystery guy was Aokiji
I thought Pell died
I thought Mr. 3 died (Bananawari)
I thought Lucci and Kaku (shipwright versions) died
I thought Jozu died
I thought kamakiri died
I thought Vanderdecken died
I thought G-5 fodder died
I thought Gedatsu died
I thought Mr. 2 died (by Magellan)
I thought Megellan died (by Blackbeard)

Out of curiosity… do you think Monet died?
No Pagaya? I swear, that man gets no love.

Where is it stated that Mr. 2 is not dead?
I thought that Ace OR Whitebeard would die. Never both.
I hoped that Brooke wouldn't join because I thought his gag would get old. Now? A skull joke gets me every time.
During the Whitebeard War, I didn't think that Jinbe would join Luffy. My argument was basically: too strong.
I was certain Ace would survive.
I thought Jinbe would be a villain.
For about a minute or so, I thought Momonga and Hancock would fight. Then she left and went back to her ship
And like everyone else, was sure Pell was dead. The stupid smirk Oda gave him will forever troll us all
No Pagaya? I swear, that man gets no love.
I forget if it was in the manga, but his line "I'm sorry that I'm alive" in the anime is one of my all-time favorites.
I though that Kinemon's legs were separate entity all along, because the idea of them being somebody's legs cut by Law just didn't seem weir enough and it was too predictable.
Alright guys… we all know what to put here...
RICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOO!!! I was so sure he'd do at least better than Bellamy. Although like Rebecca he hates Dofla, and can see them working together
Might as well…
I thought Bellamy was going to win his block. Didn't expect Ricky to go down before the king's punch either.
I thought that the blind guy can't be Fujitora, because without eyesight it should be impossible to recognize pirates by their bounty posters.
i thought all i needed in my life was a copy of "mclusky Do Dallas" and the corner chuck e. cheese but i'm so alone in my life right now and it was wrong of me to ever think that kaku would become a strawhat i'm just garbage shit
Thought Sanji and Vergo would have a clear-cut conclusion and a winner/loser.
*Was already thinking of possible explanations for either outcome: Sanji wins being that he traditionally fights one of the three villainous powerhouses in an arc/saga with the choices of CC, Monet, and Vergo the latter was deemed to fall to the ero-cook.
Vergo wins because he needs hype before Law, Luffy, or Smoker takes him down.
Good thing I was wrong on both accounts and Oda went with a safer route of not having Sanji nor Vergo win/lose.

Well true that, but Oda showed us the most likely outcome of true fight very well
@Medical:
I thought Smoker was God Tier when he first fought Luffy at Loguetown. I was pretty much thinking, "How can you even fight against someone like this?"
Really, I was convinced that Luffy will beat him. I thought he was going to inhale him into his lungs, put his head under the water and then exhale him into the water.
I thought Smoker would defeat Vergo.
I thought Zoro would defeat Monet by himself and that she would be a challenging opponent.
I thought Bobby was the one with the wearing ability, because Kelly told Bobby to wear him implying Bobby would be doing the action of wearing.
I thought Ideo would take out Jean Ango.
I thought Law's two hour warning would be more important (like a countdown to build suspense, like Shinokuni had) but it was never mentioned again.
I thought Momonosuke's dragon form would be blue for some reason.
@Light:
!
Thanks I forgot I made that post. It's a good ass post.

Lol that would have been epic!
I thought that Law would be the main Antagonist in Punk Hazard, thus Luffy would've fought with him, but the fight would have ended in stalemate. I completely forgot Luffy owned him a favour.
1. Big Mam was the targeted Yonko
2. Smoker would beat Vergo
3. Nami would take out Hody
4. Nami would team up with Luffy to take out Caesar and Monet.
5. Bellamy would win B Block.
1. Ace would live
2. Caribou would be a huge threat
3. Big Mom was the targeted Yonko
4. Bobby Funk had the fruit

Not to be rude or anything, but what could possibly have happened to you in your childhood to compel you to think that?

Nope, Oda clearly showed that Vergo was on a whole other level Haki wise, Sanji managed to land one cheapshot that basically did nothing, while Vergo left Sanji with a broken fibula in one hit.

What I meant by clear-cut conclusion is that a finished fight. Someone falls to the ground while the other emerges the victor. I guess I should have used that term to start with hahahaha.
But I'm glad that Oda went with a safer route of not having a finished fight because it would have been bad image-wise for Sanji to fall so early into the NW and the same applies to Vergo who's been hyped and was needing more hype prior to his inevitable fight with Smoker/Law. Their brief encounter was clearly enough to show Vergo was stronger than Sanji.

I'll explain. I came up with this theory after Luffy beat Hody around and the Noah started to fall (chapter 637). My theory was that Nami would grab onto Luffy next chapter before Sanji flung him up and offer to help him. Thus, while Luffy was fighting Decken and trying to stop Noah, she'd fight Hody. It's not like she couldn't beat him. Arlong made her childhood hell and Hody was his successor. Her beating him would kinda be like taking a measure of retribution. Plus, Decken and Hody shared the title of Main Villain in the Fishman Island Arc so Luffy wouldn't be left out of the beating big bad of the arc thing. Plus, he'd more importantly have to stop Noah which would be huge challenge and thus he wouldn't look less impressive before entering the New World. And that way Nami would have got a fight instead of just standing there.
I thought that the Grand Line would be a sea without any islands, just a lot of pirate crews fighting non-stop
In the begining i thought the Devil Fruit users weakness to seawater would play a larger role in the story, with Luffy having to avoid contact with water more activley.
I thought the Straw hats would enter the Grand Line by the end of the series, like the last two or three arcs.
Back in East Blue, I thought the Grand Line was just an extremely dangerous stretch of sea where One Piece lies at the end. I expected other islands, but I didn't think people would actually live there. I thought all the living creatures there would be pirates going after One Piece and scary animals and monsters. I also thought it would have difficult and/or bizarre weather conditions 100% of the time.
Nice thread you have here , glad i decided to join the forums.
Sooo ,
1)I thought we would have strange weather islands in Grand Line all the time (but suddenly most of them have a nice weather)
2)I thought Sengoku's weapon will be the goat LOL
3)I thought Ace and Luffy were Dragon's sons , but Ace got his mother's name (oh that was right) coz they're father left them and she raised them.
4)Ι thought the Straw Hats will go altogether in the War.
5)People thought that Perona or Hancock or Mr.2 would join back in the war (mostly those 3 and i thought that Mr.2 or Hancock would join also!)
6)We thought that the crew would appear on the war (especially Zoro and he would make everything a mess xD)
7)I thought Luffy and Garp would have a full fight
8)I thought they would escape with Ace and that he would live.
9)I thought Burgess was and will always be a weakling same goes with..
10)..the whole Blackbeard crew were a bunch of weaklings back in Jaya (i thought)
11)Law would be a bad guy working for Ceasar in Punk Hazardo
12)Doflamingo was self-made and when he was young he was a poor ambitious fella (well that hasn't been confirmed till now , we don't know his full background)
13)I couldn't predict correctly what Kuma said to Rayleigh , but i don't remember what my prediction was.
well that's all what i can think of , if i think of something more , i'll come and add!

To be fair, it was somewhat played up to be that - of course the "no living creatures but pirates and monsters" is an interpretation, but the other things were more or less stated or strongly implied. So it's Oda trying to build tension or naive characters believing in exaggerated rumors - probably a mix of both.
Then the New World was played to be the Grand Line's Grand Line, but even the New World doesn't seem that over-the-top and supernaturally dangerous. I for one didn't expect a fairly civilized kingdom like Dressrosa in the middle of it all. And with all these people who made it alive here to participate in the Corrida Colosseum tournament, they seas cannot even be that dangerous to sail (unless they all happen to have amazing navigators and very hardy ships). Of course the general strength level is higher, and the subplot with pirates building territories and having underground connections is interesting, but the day-to-day life seems relatively calm when you don't encounter Shichibukai, Yonkou or admirals. Then again, extreme weather phenomena and monsters and deserted islands don't make for as interesting a plot as actual people and island nations with their own culture, but the New World isn't supposed to be a walk in the park either, so that's probably why it's hyped without completely living up to it.
Recently i thought monet or vergo(or both)were the stoaways but it turned out to be jora.
I thought Franky was gonna be the one to finish Blueno in Enies Lobby. But if I remember right, Blueno was still outmatched in brute strength alone back when CP9 went into Franky's hideout. Blueno had to resort to try to shigan him in the face until Lucci stopped him.
Ace not dying is another.
Robin fighting Monet. That would have been a fun fight to watch.
Usopp keeping the Sogeking theme
Sanji learning Rankyaku
Luffy being directly related to Roger
Pell dying
after the broker thing, i thought lucci would participate in the tourney and we would get a clear view of the level of upgradation luffy went through
Honestly, I sort of liken the way the Grand Line, and then the New World, were played up as being a bit similar to what people in the rest of England say about London. That it's glamorous, that it's super expensive, that it's where all the things that matter happen, and so forth. Actually living here…there's a truth to those things, but it's not massively different from living in, say, Nottingham. The difference is just played up. And since the Grand Line seems to function like the capital region of the One Piece world (and even the actual capital, Mariejois, is located there), it makes sense that there'd be similar hype in the relatively rural East Blue.
