Can panel layouts in a comic be considered a part of the artist's artstyle ? Or are these two completely separate?

Can panel layouts in a comic be considered a part of the artist's artstyle ? Or are these two completely separate?
This is probably more than a one-liner to be honest. I'm not an artist but it can definitely contribute a lot to the artist's vision, presentation, and stylization. I would personally include that as part of their art style. However, not if what you mean by "art style" is the way they actually draw their characters and whatever else is WITHIN a panel.

Well since panel layout includes how things are visually framed, like is that part of the panel borderless, is it framed in a rectangle/trapeze, is it a double spread?
All these things have visual impact so they certainly can be part of a certain style.
That said there is the element of story telling that goes into consideration into choosing a layout. I don't feel comfortable enough to say which is given more weight but I guess it depends on the comic itself. -
I can't register in the IRC chat. After I entered my E-mail and password the system tell me to fill in a code that was sent to me via E-mail. But the system keeps telling me I used a wrong code. I checked it multiple times. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just terrible with computers.

I'm unable to post threads :-( I get this message:
MrPecans, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
- Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

How do I get this fixed?

You will get the ability automatically after you spend some more time posting.

Good to know! Thanks, Smo-Yan!

I'm not really an active poster on this Forum, is it possible to delete my account?
-
Not unless an admin does it, but you can just leave. The policy has usually been to never delete user accounts unless there is a really good reason for that.

I'm sorry, I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I can't find the answer. When will I be able to vote on polls? I joined here in the first place to participate in the Arlong Park character tournament, but I can't vote yet. Does it have to do with post count or with how long I've been a member or something else?
Thanks in advance. -

For some reason I cannot create threads or vote on polls. Is there something wrong with my account?
- Due to a large volume of dupe accounts to sway polls, voting has been restricted from new members and guests. This applies to creating threads as well. These privileges are given to members on a case by case basis, revolving largely around activity and account age.

My widescreen TV still has blackbars when watching ESPN, NFL Network, etc. And channels that don't have black bars like ABC don't really show the full picture (the sides are cutoff).
Is my TV not wide enough or something?

Sounds like your TV might be in the wrong "mode." Most TVs have some option to control what it might call "wide" or "zoom" or "stretch." You might want to look for this option and toggle it to the one that looks right. Alternatively, your cable/satellite/TV box (assuming you have one) probably also has to be set to 16:9 mode so check its settings.
Either way if you're watching a station that's broadcast in 4:3 you will have bars on the sides on your 16:9 TV.

Well the bars are on the top and bottom, not the sides. The local channels like CBS and ABC can have certain parts a little cropped, like as if my TV needs to be wider.
I tried zoom, every channel is cut of a little bit. The channels that have black bars on top and the bottom don't have them, but then the quality is worse, and picture looks out.
Maybe I need HDMI cables. Or do I just need HD channels (etc. ABC HD, ESPN HD, etc.)?
Either way, thanks for the help
-
Your image should not be getting clipped either way. There should only be blank space on the sides for a 4:3 transmission, not the top or bottom, unless they are airing a letterboxed movie or something (this is really rare). But yes generally speaking only HD channels will actually broadcast in widescreen. But everything I said in my last post is still true.

So channels like ESPN don't have black bars on the top and bottom for you?
Also, only HD channels actually show the full widescreen image?
thanks btw

Nothing on TV does for me. And yes, only HD channels show the full image in most cases. Although depending on your settings it may stretch the image.

Just one more thing; Do you have HDMI cables?
thanks for the help

The one I have works with HDMI or Component. If you use composite it might not work too well.
-
Oh. That sucks for me then.
Thanks for all the advice Foolio

when taking showers, when would you loofah? More importantly, do you try to get the dead skin off in one shower? I need help.
-
OH A LOOFAH! They make such wonderful doggie toys since they're so bouncy and puffy. Dogs go crazy over loofahs! I spent so much time throwing a loofah at dogs and they just go all crazy over them. It's so much fun. It never gets old using them as dog toys. But a problem is they tear it apart sometimes and it is irking to go purchase another one MERELY for their amusement. On dear….damn reminds me that I need to go get another one.
Here is a random movie of a dog playing with one. Isn't it fun? They have so much fun just bouncing and playing with the damn thing. So much whimsical delight.
1.when you exfoliate
2.yes -

I'd say once per week or 2 weeks depending on the humidity of where you live and the frequency of your showers.
Sweat a lot and use soap first.

My monitor broke down a while ago, so I had to get a new one. Luckily, I could get a second hand Acer AL1716 monitor for free from someone my mom knows; so that was nice and all, but… I've encoutered a little problem with this monitor.
Apparently, the native resolution for this Acer AL1716 is 1280x1024, but when I tried setting the resolution to that it didn't work. The option to set it to 1280x1024 is available in that slider-thingy that is used to change monitor resolutions, but whenever I try to set it to that the screen goes black for a while (which is normal) and then just returns to whatever resolution it was before. I can select every option from 800x600 to 1280x1024 and they all work (even widescreen resolutions), except for the last one (1280x1024), which is the one I need.Any ideas?
Edit: I'm using Windows Vista, btw.

monitor stuff
It seems you changed the resolution but since it didn't display properly it'll go back to the previous (working) one in 15 seconds. So it's either a graphics driver problem or a monitor problem.
You could try updating your graphics card's drivers and/or forcing the 1280x1024 resolution in your graphics card control panel. What's your graphics card? (if you don't know, go to Start> Run> and type dxdiag, then click the Display tab. The model name should be listed under Device.

Hey, thanks for the answer. I updated my graphics card drivers and it works now :)

Whats a good image hosting website?I wanted to try make campaigns.
-
Photobucket or Imageshack are the most used. Tinypic is another one I see used pretty often. I've been using Dropbox though for a while. It allows you to sync images and other types of files across computers and has a subfolder where you can put things like images which will give you a url directly from your computer to post on a site. It's a lot more convenient I find. Here, you can sign up for it through here if you want and also give me some more space to use :3
-
Thanks,I used photobucket earlier to post my buggy campaign.I will try out Dropbox and see how that goes

I'd actually suggest you use Tinypic over photobucket, since it has a bad tendency to delete my pictures after a certain amount of time. I've never really had that issue with Tinypic.

How exactly is Shonen Jump different from normal manga?
-
Not sure what you're asking. Shonen Jump is just a magazine for manga. There are hundreds of different magazines.
-
You see, when I was watching Gintama, the main character used to read Jump all day. And it had different manga in it.
So, I was asking, what exactly is Shonen jump?

Weekly Shonen Jump is a weekly children comic book magazine for boys and currently the most popular in Japan. This year WSJ celebrates its 45th anniversary. Over the years of publishing, WSJ has serialized many classical manga from Mazinger Z and Fist of the North Star to Dragonball and One Piece. The magazine goes on sale on Mondays, but due to various reasons gets illegally leaked on Wednesdays or even Tuesdays.
Gintama serializes currently in this magazine as well, and Gintoki reading WSJ is an anachronistic joke.

People use those to rate how much they like or dislike a thread, on a scale of one to five.

When can I have an image for my sig?
You should always be able to do that. Just go to edit signature in your settings and put one in.

Ah, sorry I didn't clarify. I meant upload a picture/GIF for sig. It says that I don't have permission to do that yet at the bottom of the page when I try to edit my sig.

Oh, no one can do that. Uploading images directly to AP is disabled because the site admins don't want to use up tons of space for pictures. You have to upload it to an image hosting site and then put it in your sig from there.
