Dose anyone know when they are going to remake finally fantasy IIX for ps2?
Bbeacuse i can't wait I think is going to be really cool what do you guys think?
Finally fantasy IIX

I think you mean XII and to the best of my knowledge, no. That was a tech demo.
I do recall seeing a trailer on youtube for some new XII game tho, but I don't think its a remake.
-
First off its VIII. Second i don't think they will. Although from my limited knowledge of things that are happening i think they're making a remake of VII. Why? I don't know. If they did any remakes it should be VI. VI is by far the best Final Fantasy (excluding tactics(not advanced)). VIII was incredibly easy. One of the easiest games I have ever played.
edit: oh, if you mean the one with cloud then thats VII
-
final fantasy tactics was such a great game. I wish they would remake that in all its glory on the ps3
-
VII seems pretty bland to me. It's a decent game, yeah, but it doesn't stack up to something like VI or IX to me. Besides, it's already getting a movie, two follow-up games, and more newbish fans as we speak, so I think it is (unfortunately) in good shape. Don't be greedy.

XII is coming out. There's no point in making a remake if its not even out.
I think you're refering to the tech demo for VII

…this isn't anime or manga.

No, I said right in my post I wasn't reffereing to the tech demo. I know that thing is a tech demo and bitch at people the most that it is and not a remake.

The game that needs to be updated and revamped is FFVI.

Yup

Would be the best 60 dollars I ever spent

I was obsessed with VII for the longest time for some reason. I remember a long time ago, both my sister and I weren't that great with video games and couldn't get past the beginning of VI so we didn't continue, I better get on that right away >.< (The time when the two moogles show up! I hope that was from VI!)
Judging from some discussion and support from video clips, Dirge of Cerberus is a difficult game to play :(
Speaking of XII, I was playing it until my sister nabbed my ps2 the other day…

ooops yeaaa i ment VII…...I'm a dumb ass....
-
"Finally Fantasy IIX" sounds like a really pathetically bad knock-off I would buy from a Malaysian swap meet.
-
Actually, the game that needs to be updated is not only VI but IX.
IX is incredibly underrated.
-
I remember reading an issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly where, in the "Rumor Mill" one of the topics was if Square was ever planning to really remake FFVII based off of the tech demo shown at the last E3. 'The Q' [author for that section] said that he had "very reliable information" that a FFVII remake was in the works.
IX is incredibly underrated.
So true BatDan, so true…
-
IX is incredibly underrated.
come on the ultimate boss alone makes it lame…
the story and character development of the VII were so much more developed.
still waiting for the XII but if it's as linear as FFX i think i'll die.
-
who the fuck was the last boss? i dont even remember where he came from or if he was ever referenced at all in any other part of the game

Dude, That's what happened to Zeromus from FFIV, and FFIV was teh SHIZ. Just like Sephiroth was a BIG LAME COPY of Kefka and his awesomeness (Come on, one winged angel? KEFKA COPY…), and FFIX was a copy of IV. Seriously, Kuja, random brother of main character? Cecil and Golbeze. And the last boss of IX is blatent copy of IV. Square has been recycling ideas for the past like, forever. And if ANYONE says VII characters are cool and are 3D and crap, Steiner beats the crap out of ALL of the delopment of the VII characters.
Everyone should just play FFIII, the main characters had no personality, and all the players had to omg make their OWN personalities for the characters, like, GASP, a real RPG.
Alright, now Christy is rambling. But seriously, an underrated FF is III. It was so awesome and cool, and Bahamut was a father, and awesomeness.
The End.
-

i knew that. I just thought that i might have missed something while i played it…maybe i went into a trance or something shrugs makes about as much sense as necron
-
Well, FF IX was supposed to be a tribute to the "old" middle-age FF's, but I see what you mean. I still feel the game was original enough in its own right though - and Square had learnt a lot more about dialogue and story since IV.
I've never been able to play III (I live in Europe! ><), but I gotta say, I find characters where you have to invent their personalities very annoying. There just can't be as much drama, depht and dialogue when they don't say anything. If theres' one RPG feaure I hate, it's the Mute Virus.

Final Fantasy III is too great not to be played. You have to get yourself zsnes and a rom of it
-
Dude…do something about your sig. Theres a 100kb total limit allowed.
-
as long as we are going to split hairs buuhan
- my sig is like 96 kb
2)i removed my avatar - you're total is like 150 kb

Wasn't FFIII an NES title? And I'm not referring to the Final Fantasy that was originally VI in…well, y'all know the deal.
-
V and VI are coming soon for GBA. Despite the slowdown, I liked the IV GBA version, so I'm excited about these. Portable rpgs are the only way to go. I don't have time for console rpgs anymore.
I wanted III to get a GBA version like I and II did with Dawn of Souls. But it's getting a DS version instead. Not bad I guess…but I wanted it to be done with the Wonderswan Color sprites (like I, II, and IV GBA remakes had), because I'm not a fan of the 3D graphics (of the screenshots I've seen).
-
I made it to the last boss in ffvi and ffv and just lost interest. That always happens to me. In Xenogears (another great game that needs a remake) i got to the final dungeon and didnt finish. I suck :(

Don't feel bad, I'm like that too. Which is why I like portable rpgs. I only got half way through IV for SNES all those years ago, but when the portable version came out I beat it in about a week. Portability means you can take them lots of places and play them when you have nothing else to do. I just can't make myself sit in front of my television to play RPGs. I used to be able to, but that time is long gone….

that is so true for me. I dont have the attention span that i used to, it seems. I cant wait to be able to play v and vi on the gba so i can actually finish them. It sucks that my gba got lost (it fucking disappeared, i kid you not) because i prefer playing gba games on the gbasp rather than the nds
-
for real! VI is coming to a GBA near me!! That's my favorite one! And yes, I too have no time any more for RPG's at home, but I do a lot of comuting. a LOT. This would be great for me!!
-
I just hope the GBA V and VI get North American releases. Normally I wouldn't be concerned (since IV came out for GBA last December was it?), but I'm afraid that by the time they come out in Japan, Nintendo of America might not think GBA games could sell anymore. But maybe since they are Final Fantasy games we won't have that problem.
I'm also hoping they fix lots of the bugs in VI. It's my favorite, but there's no denying all the bugs in it (like…one of the evade stats doesn't work right or something, which makes some equipment useless...and there's also the Interceptor glitch where he can be removed from Shadow because of some move these frogs can do...and so on).
-
There are rumors that they remade final fantasy VII, but on which consul is it gonna be out for. My mate said it was for Xbox 360 but also i've heard that its for the new ps3.
-
All of those rumors stem from one video interview and one comment from Nomura where he said it would be interesting to remake it.
End of story as far as we know.
And I see some Necron discussion.
It may interest you that in the Japanese version his/its name wasn't Necron, it was Eternal Darkness. When you think about it, it makes a helluva lot more sense even though it's still incredibly random.

No matter what anyone says, FFIX will always be my favorite. I know it borrowed a lot from other games in the series (hell, every FF takes a lot of material from the games before it), but I had such a great feeling playing it. It was… fun, and I just loved the whole atmosphere. I really got into the 1900's feel.
And only one or two characters pissed me off, unlike in most FFs where the majority of the cast ends up grating my nerves. And FFIX is the first FF that grabbed me long enough for me to beat all the way. I love that game.
FFVIII, however, is a really underrated game that gets a lot of undue crap, in my opinion. It was a really good game; the Junction system took a while to get used to, but it was a pretty interesting system. I liked the concept of Summons being creatures you bonded with instead of wacky non sequiturs you call in during a boss fight to blow up the sun or something.
HOWEVER, that doesn't excuse FF8's really poor mistakes, such as the various plot contrivances and annoying as hell characters. I found almost none that I could sympathize with. I liked Seifer and his gang, but they become evil or whatever.

Exactly, its great to hear there are more FFIX fans other than myself :P But I think it was probably the art style which had really turned people away from the game (the whole super-deformed/big head-ish look). Once you start playing the game though, you become so engrossed in it that you forget all about it and, like you said Carter, it's fun. Actually, IX is the first Final Fantasy game that I actually beat, instead of getting close to the end, putting it down "for a little bit", and end up forgetting about for about half a year, only to pick it back up and start a new game XP.
As far as the main characters go, Eiko was only one who kinda pissed me off. Other than that, I liked how each character had their own personal outlook on life.
Oh, and the mini-card game I thought was pretty fun too. Very under-appreciated that game was…
-
I still haven't played IX yet, but I've been wanting to play it since the Gamefan Magazine review years ago. It definitely seems like it could be my favorite Playstation Final Fantasy game based on what I've read about it.
I never got into VIII because of the characters. I plan on giving it a chance someday, but It's kind of far down on my "to-do" list.
-
FF9 is my personal favorite. I liked 7 a lot at the time too, but that was mostly because it was the first I ever played all the way through. 9 was much more rewarding for me.
And personally, I always liked that character style. It has flavor. I would not say that FF8 design had flavor.
-
I can't remember how many RPGs I quit near the end. There's only a handful that I've completed, and they're usually my favorite RPGs.
Like Stepen said, in addition to being annoying, the FF8 characters had pretty bland designs.
Not to mention the worst Cid ever. With a title like Headmaster, it can only mean one thing; he sucks a lot of dick.
-
@Cap'n:

I gotta say that's actually one of the main reasons I haven't played it very much yet. They look too normal for me.
-
i know, you should try something before you make a decicion, but 8 is one of the few where I put it down out of boredom after half an hour.
-
i made it to like disk 3 or four and finally figured out that it sucked…it sucked alot
-
It's weird, it often takes me forever into a game to figure out that I hate it.
Like 15 hours into FFX and I'm like "….I think I hate this game" and quit. I also did this right before the final dungeon in Suikoden IV.
-
One of my major flaws is that I continue playing games even after I start to hate them; Just in order to complete the damn thing after paying for it, or while praying: "let it get better again!". Sadly, FF VIII wound up having a little of both for me.
In order for me to put down a game for good, I need to flat out depsise it from the get-go.
And only two things annoyed me from the start of ff VIII: Selphie and Rinoa. Isn't one supposed to symphatize with the main female chars? On the matter of their design: I didn't think they looked "normal", I just think square tried making them too detailed and realistic, with the result being grainy cardboard figures. It's funny how I felt the FF VII "dolls" could express more emotion than the FF VIII characters.
