It's really not about explicit seniority. Not at all.
It comes down to recognizing patterns and understanding what kind of writer Oda is. Some longtime fans still can't do that, just as some new fans might pick up on that stuff immediately after a thorough read-through. The OP babby is someone who thinks that every big name player in the OP world is going to show up in the first saga of the New World, or that Japanese-actor-face implies anything other than "Admiral," or that an incredibly minor character would appear in a spread juxtaposed against Yonkou and Shichibukai, when we have 15 years and 700 chapters and layers and layers of precedent suggesting otherwise (and probably another 15/700 to go).
@William:
Ya gotta be patient, man. Kaido, Sabo, Vegapunk, and all of those other mystery people won't be showing up for a while, and the arguing will continue.
ahh, I remember when we used to argue if Mihawk could cut logias or not….the good old days when we had no idea what the f*ck was in store for us. haha.
WSJ without OP just SCAM
The dwarves' designs are not really what I was expecting, although I REALLY do like them. I was kinda expecting them to be more LOTR-like, so the theory about Kaidou being one of them could actually make some sense, but with the reveal, the theory also goes to trash. OR… this could go another way and Oda could make Kaidou dwarf-god themed or something with him being an exceptionally huge dwarf so the minors could worship him or something, but that only if Oda decides to go the unexpected path. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this little theory of mine, but it could turn out to be interesting.
But then again, him being the strongest creature in the world strongly suggest him not being human and the silhouettes of the Yonkou don't exactly portrait him as a fishman, and I know they may vary, but if he was somewhat thorough with Big Mom he should do the same with Kaidou, so that leaves us with the unseen minkmen we know nothing of or, well, dwarves or he could just be an user of a rare zoan-type devil fruit, but I don't think Oda would miss the golden chance to introduce the missing species.
About the storyline, here's what I believe will happen, I wanted to make it as possible as, well, possible, but we never know with Oda.
I'm one of those people who think Monet is dead, not sure what to think about Vergo to be honest, but if he was indeed a right-hand man of Doflamingo, it would suck for him to die here. And from the hands of Law. Does that suggest he was the strongest of his subordinates? I don't know, but that would be disappointing after all the hype with the Doflamingo family.
And with Oda being on a character killing-spree (I went ahead and called it like that, taking in mind how he suddenly started killing off characters after 10 years of consistent storytelling that doesn't involve killing during the present timeline), something tells me the story between Rebecca and the Soldier will actually be a passionate one ending with him dying during the "revolution", possibly by hands of the family or the big boss himself for more drama and character development.
And, and, Luffy will see it all and enraged, go into the final fight, but before that, he will befriend Rebecca, hear out her story of how and why she hates Doflamingo and wants the Mera Mera fruit, Luffy will somehow take it into consideration and eventually hand her the fruit, but she will fail, hard. Then the whole killing-the-soldier thing happens, right in front of her eyes he dies, she asks Luffy to help her out and as he goes into the fight, he leaves his hat with her. You see where I'm going with this?
Yes, I think Rebecca will become the final Straw Hat, making her the 10th (after Jinbe) member, like Luffy mentioned in the very first chapter he wants 10 crew members, but if he meant it WITH himself or 10 other-than-himself people, it's all for speculation. Why I'm thinking that? If Oda really wants to introduce another character in the crew, he needs to do it early and this arc makes a great opportunity in my opinion, because if he does that later, it would be a shitty decision as the readers won't have enough time to grow on said character like with the others. Not to mention and I know this is supposed to be a pirate crew after all, another girl in the crew would be nice, it would add something fresh to the crew along with a logia-user with Ace's memento fruit. A badass female fighter with the fire fruit in the crew? I'm all down for it!

A long-time fan and poster in this forums ends to recognize the patterns and understandings of the posters in these forums. Those patters also exist, and not only among the members but also among the mods: there are OP babbies and OP seniors (lol). Those patters are very different than the patters you can find in sections dedicated to seinen or shoujo or even more to other manga not so popular like OP or Naruto. OP is not just another comic, but a media-phenomenon, and you always will have people discussing about the possibility of this new character become the next nakama or Sabo coming back in the next chapter or a new character presenting a match to an admiral or to a shichibukai, etc… So, what's the point on coining a term like OP babby? Not that it bothers me, since I recognize it's natural to have OP babbys. But it's clearly about explicit seniority & your explanation is evidence.
As for the babbies, just let them be.

Oda has already shown that Kaido likes machinery and animals. I don't see where dwarves come in.
The minkmen are most likely talking animals like Bepo, Pekoms (who had a turtle zoan) and the cat guy on Hawkin's crew. And Zou is the probably island where they come from. I don't know if Kaido would be a minkman though, or a dwarf.
I'm one of those people who think Monet is dead, not sure what to think about Vergo to be honest, but if he was indeed a right-hand man of Doflamingo, it would suck for him to die here. Dofla said he knew him the longest, not anything about him being his strongest subordinate. The people sitting the Club/Spade/Ace/Heart chairs are probably stronger.
And with Oda being on a character killing-spree
Having two henchmen "die" and some G-5 people blowing up isn't too far removed from what Oda usually does.
something tells me the story between Rebecca and the Soldier will actually be a passionate one ending with him dying during the "revolution", possibly by hands of the family or the big boss himself for more drama and character development.
Toy Soldier isn't going to die.
1.Luffy isn't going to give the Mera Mera away to some person he barely knows/ Oda wouldn't waste the fruit on a nobody character.
2.Luffy wouldn't need to hear some person's sob story to fight for them.
3.Oda having Luffy give his hat to Rebecca would be a lazy parallel to Arlong Park and completely misses the point of the original scene.
4.Rebecca has no personality nor an occupation to fill on the crew.
5.This a 16+ year manga, characters like Dragon didn't have a second appearance until 6 years after they were introduced. Why should Oda rush to add a new crewmember this early in the New World. Especially a character who just a got a new fruit and will have to train to learn how to use it effectively? :wassat:

Sometimes that's impossible, their lack of common sense and intelligence is appalling…

I do agree with you, although again, it's still a possibility, a theory. I stated mine, you stated yours. See where I'm going?

Maybe you're right, my memory might've been fuzzy. Mea culpa, you're right.
@William:
Having two henchmen "die" and some G-5 people blowing up isn't too far removed from what Oda usually does.
Yeah, the key word is usually. You must be blind you hadn't noticed that Oda's style's been changing over the course of years and the series while still maintaining its goofy, carefree mood, added to the pot some quality drama and more adult-ish themes.
And the New World, the second part of One Piece, is supposed to be a harsh one, and so far we're reading the very start of it and everything can happen. But so far we've seen a batshit insane yet still likable and goofy scientist that's been the cause of the incident that not only heavily injured numerous people not to mention killed many as well, but been experimenting on children in the past and present and tried to put a weapon of mass destruction into blackmarket. Well, whatever.
@William:
Toy Soldier isn't going to die.
I thought Ace wasn't going to die too. And thought the same about Whitebeard. He got me on that one.
@William:

1. Again, we know NOTHING about her, she might turn out to be a nobody character (which I STRONGLY doubt) or actually be an important one. So far we've seen that she holds a grudge against Doflamingo to the point she wants to achieve the fruit in order to kill him herself and lately, we've been introduced to her and the toy soldier's story which might be romantic or not, theory is the key word here.
2. In Arlong Park he did, but that's not my point. You're right, but Luffy wants to take Doflamingo down already, so I fail to see your point.
3. Yeah, I went a little ahead of myself on that one, haha
4. Dude, we're like literally less than 15 chapters into one, that has potential to be like one of the biggest by the way, arcs in the series and you're whining that we know nothing of a character that clearly is supposed to be an important one, with a name, detailed design and decent amounts of screen time? We just got an introduction to their story, give Oda some time.
5. What? Do I have to remind you how the very majority of the crew joined? And he SHOULD introduce, of course if he plans to, a new character early, if so, because completing the series is gonna take him much longer than expected and the readers won't have enough time to get to know and like the character. I though that was pretty obvious?
I just registered due to boredom at work, but I've been actively following the forums during my free time, but if you want to keep the newly registered posters, you seriously need to stop acting like an alpha and omega and bash them left and right to show how "superior" you are to them when mostly, you just aren't.
I really DID NOT want to use your style of response (divide the post into sections and take out the context from the inconvenient lines), but you practically forced me to do it.
I do realize that I let my imagination go a little bit too far on some parts, although I still don't see my theory (see wiki for that one if you need) stupid or that far fetched. Oda is capable of doing that one and in my opinion with Oda's talent he could make that far cooler, so please quit trying to sound like you're at least Oda's personal assistant and you're like an oracle of One Piece, because there are people here who apparently think that way and open your mind for other people's ideas and throw some constructive critique to discuss because this just isn't working.
Have a nice day!
I like you .
Yeah, he (she?) seems like a pretty good new poster.

He did say he's the strongest creature in the world, it's a possibility, not a fact.
I'm baffled to hell and back why people are so impressed with the dwarves strength. Like to the point that people literally forget that since the second darn volume we've seen feats like this casually thrown around by all manner of weaklings.
Stop treating them like supermen.
Yeah, the key word is usually. You must be blind you hadn't noticed that Oda's style's been changing over the course of years and the series while still maintaining its goofy, carefree mood, added to the pot some quality drama and more adult-ish themes.
You ARE blind if you think Oda's style has been changing over the years. It hasn't at all.
When did YOU start reading the series lol. How many "over the years" do you have to reference such an evolution (that does not exist).
And the New World, the second part of One Piece, is supposed to be a harsh one,
And so was Paradise compared to East Blue. And it was.
Except not in a way that changed the series tone or anything so dumb.
and so far we're reading the very start of it and everything can happen.
You know, it's funny but CCC had my post about "babbies" wrong. I was just teasing, I didn't mean anything so deep as he said by it.
But that said I cosign it completely, coincedentally I don't disagree at all.
And you're a perfect example.
You have NO perspective on the development and evolution of the series. NO feel for how Oda works. NO experience in any of this.
To say "anything can happened". No, no it can't. No it' wont. No no no no. There is zero reason to think so.
But so far we've seen a batshit insane yet still likable and goofy scientist that's been the cause of the incident that not only heavily injured numerous people not to mention killed many as well, but been experimenting on children in the past and present and tried to put a weapon of mass destruction into blackmarket. Remember when Arlong shot a mom in the head directly in front of her little girls? Yeah, Oda wrote that in 1999.
I thought Ace wasn't going to die too. And thought the same about Whitebeard. He got me on that one.
Yeah hi, I thought both would die, and I'm telling you you're being ridiculous.
@William:

As the evidence is in favor of these for-lack-of-better-term demi-humans aren't simply SMILE users*, and for now let's further assume they are minkmen, Law and Franky!Nami's conversation strongly suggest he's a minkman. Where's the dwarf possibility come from? Seems left field.
@William:
Why should Oda rush to add a […] character who just a got a new fruit and will have to train to learn how to use it effectively?
I hate to attach myself to the conversation that invited this question, but to the question itself I don't see why having a new fruit or eating a fruit the arc you join would matter? It wouldn't stand as a substitute for character development, but it would be an interesting element to that character, allowing growth and gags as they learn more about their ability.
@Monkey:

And yet I still stand by my opinion that it has. I'm not saying drastically, but it sure got more "serious" tone to it since around Sabaody Archipelago arc.
I've been reading weekly since the Thriller Bark introduction if that matters.
@Monkey:
And so was Paradise compared to East Blue. And it was.

Do you seriously not see it? Oda even gave you a not-so-subtle clue when he actually named the first half of Grand Line Paradise. Compared to the New World where the big shots reside and where shit hits the fan, it's a paradise. I don't know about you, but the whole racism remake, crazy scientist and now events on Dressrosa do seem SLIGHTLY different to me than the rest hence my assumption.
It doesn't have to go full DARKNESS in order to give it a more mature-ish tone. Think a little.

Remember when Arlong shot a mom in the head directly in front of her little girls? Yeah, Oda wrote that in 1999.
He wrote Zeff smashing off his leg and eat it in order to survive even earlier, your point? Not to mention that happened in a flashback, but the main storyline adapts more "serious" themes.
@Monkey:
Yeah hi, I thought both would die, and I'm telling you you're being ridiculous.
Good for you, are you trying to impress someone or what?
Wow, that was really stupid, but nonetheless thanks for the reply.
Wow you're making a great first impression…:ninja:

The first part about the paradise assumption is correct, but that doesn't necessarily make the story "darker" or mature. It just means the stakes are higher, competition is much more aggressive, and overall the setting has become more complicated. OP has generally been "mature" in a veiled sort of way ever since the start. Nothing has changed aside from the story becoming broader, richer, and more complicated.
He wrote Zeff smashing off his leg and eat it in order to survive even earlier, your point? Not to mention that happened in a flashback, but the main storyline adapts more "serious" themes.
You make it sound like someone completely different is writing the main storyline and the flashbacks. No, Oda doesn't keep a blood thirsty gremlin in the closet to write the flashbacks. It's the same guy…The point being, Oda has been and still is writing generally heavy stuff (even if it's in flashback) so this is a moot point.
PS: The Rebecca for Nakama thing...not going to happen. She's the Margaret of this arc.
Prepare your butt, holl. Prepare your anal.
I find it funny how you try to act all high and mighty when you're in the very same position to spread your bullshit as well as I spread mine. Try again.
I have credibility lol.
And yet I still stand by my opinion that it has. I'm not saying drastically, but it sure got more "serious" tone to it since around Sabaody Archipelago arc.
I've been reading weekly since the Thriller Bark introduction if that matters.
Sabaody??? No wonder you're skewed. You read the goofy Nightmare Before Christmas arc then into the World Nobles and Crew Dispersment arc.
I started at the Davy Back Fight intro, and was vaguely aware (though no reading) of the development of Skypiea.
Water7 was hell of more serious feeling than much of what came before, including a slightly more realistic looking art style. But it ebbed and flowed even with that arc, and honestly didn't even quite feel right. And then boom we were with Gecko goofball Moria.
And really Enies Lobby was no more actually serious than Skypiea or Alabasta, or Arlong for that matter.
It is complete and utter delusion to think things are getting darker.
Worse yet, I have a feeling it's wishful thinking on your part. If you haven't learned to appreciate One Piece's tone after seventy volumes I don't even know what to say.
Do you seriously not see it? Oda even gave you a not-so-subtle clue when he actually named the first half of Grand Line Paradise. Compared to the New World where the big shots reside and where shit hits the fan, it's a paradise.
You're absolutely lacking in all perspective if you don't get that the New World is more dangerous than Paradise (as Paradise was more dangerous than the Blues). It's more dangerous. Duh. There's stronger pirates, crazier islands, crazier weather, stronger Marines, etc.
Not a single damn thing about that means the story is going to be darker. Did the story get darker when we got on Paradise from East Blue? Of course not. But you've decided to arbitrarily think the same exact transition will be different this time.
I don't know about you, but the whole racism remake, crazy scientist and now events on Dressrosa do seem SLIGHTLY different to me than the rest hence my assumption.
And that's just complete crap. Such incredible selective bias to only see the heavy undertones in THESE storylines, but somehow miss the previous ones.

Yeeepp called it correctly. You have not learned to either appreciate or even understand what One Piece is.
Okay, you got me to laugh a little with that one. I'm sorry, but who do you think you are? You have NO perspective on the development and evolution of the series. NO feel for how Oda works. NO experience in any of this.
So your saying it's impossible to understand how Oda works, and that he's essentially a mysterious godman who works on a plane above simple human understanding.
No see, I'm not special. Being unable to follow the pretty damn basic things Oda does says something about YOU, not me.
And yeah um, I've been reading since 2003 lol. That's called experience.
Am I cool yet? Please refrain from that crap.
If Bill Shakesman is a good new poster sure to stick around and understand this place, you would be the opposite.
He wrote Zeff smashing off his leg and eat it in order to survive even earlier, your point? Not to mention that happened in a flashback, but the main storyline adapts more "serious" themes.
That happened in a flashback….behind the present relationship between Nami and Arlong. Everytime we saw Arlong past that chapter, in the present time, we were supposed to have "THIS DUDE LITERALLY SHOT A MOTHER IN FRONT OF HER LITTLE GIRLS" in our heads. And had done so again when he massacred Gosa, leaveing another little kid with a dead parent.
Oh my point by the way, is you're completely imagining there being any shift to darker material because it's been around since East Blue.
Did anybody even conclusively die on Punk Hazard lol. Because Gin just straight up murdered one of Fullbody's Marines in the middle of a crowded restaurant.
Thanks for I think the...fourth incredibly dense argument in this thread.
Hiatuses really cause people to post goofy obviously wrong things.
Oh and the below is even more wrong than One Piece being darker, and even more indicative that you haven't figured out a single thing about how this series works.
Yes, I think Rebecca will become the final Straw Hat,
Gekko Moriah can't help that he's a goofball. Kaido made him that way.
This is a cursed thread.
Seriously, this thread. What's next I wonder?
What do you want to be next?
Damn, only 39 pages and just over a week to earn the designation of "cursed". I think that's a new record.
Remember a few months ago when the threads hit 100+ pages? Yeah…how the hell did that happen?
Cuz Shichibukai Buggy. Cuz penguin with a backup. Cuz Fujitora. Cuz reveal of Doflamingo having the Mera Mera no Mi. Cuz seeing post-timeskip Akainu. Cuz Aokiji showing up on Punk Hazard. Cuz tournament. Cuz Foxy thinking there would only be a single Admiral. Cuz the beginning of a new story arc.
All we got now is cloth-stealing midgets.

there are still more actually on this chapter :the bad news on last page,flower field ….well just little things though
Now that we know it's a member of the Donquixote Family who has snuck onto the Sunny, and they have a child like voice, I guess it's almost a given that the intruder is the fruit sucking little girl …

It could still be a dwarf. The Dofla's were going to attack the Sunny, not sneak on it.
Out of curiosity, does anyone have the number of people shown in the manga that have worked (Disco) or are working under or with DD so far?. Not only lackeys but also partners.
it probably is a dwarf or two just on account of the fact that they're so tiny and fast
they could easily sneak into the ship's quarters. can't really say the same for Doflamingo's crew which is largely composed of big lumbering dudes

The little girl who probably has some sort of Devil Fruit could though… Though you're probably right that it's a dwarf.
Is there really no chapter again next week? Damn!
@Monkey:
Is there really no chapter again next week? Damn!
No there is one next week, expect it around June 26th.
I wonder how Doflamingo keeps Nyan-Catting everywhere? When I think of it, I've never seen him on a ship and now I have a ridiculous image of him just pulling himself everywhere. Iron Boy Scotch pissed me off for hitting the granny, Caribou is infinitely more hittable and he's right there, plus I wanted granny to be a strong New World granny, but I gave up on that dream a few chapters ago.

I can see why AP has a bad reputation in certain other online communities. We must look like the biggest douchebags to new users when in reality we're only pointing out the flaws in their theories. :|
True. This forum can't quite be quite as open and accepting as NarutoForums.
Yeah a lot of assholes here but the discussion is just great, if you're really a One Piece go-hard. I migrated here from MH cos during break times it really slows down there and they don't really tolerate off-topic moments (like this one). So i pilgrimaged to the land of the earliest spoilers and you know what? I Regret Nothing. In fact I wish I joined earlier cos the breadth of covered topics is just amazing. AP is the New World of One Piece forums and I'm fully tempered for the adventure.

Aaaand, stop. Further discussion is pointless. What is your credibility? Are you some kind of a professional critic? Are you Oda's assistant? You have somehow a deeper insight into Oda's plans and thought process? Or are you a self-proclaimed internet forum user with "credibility"? Oh, come on!
I agree with the second epithet though, but I do notice a slight mood and story complexity change whenever we entered a new arena. Events during East Blue, even if they did have a strong impact on the reader, were still somehow (and at this point I can't even define how) different than the Paradise. Compare the arcs for yourself, even in the summary of yours.
What? I just SAID New World is supposed to be a harsher sea for the protagonists. It's like you're trying to shit all over me just because you feel like it. But you're wrong. Also, I might've worded it wrong, valiantt got the part right. The rest is just my personal assumption.
I did not miss the earlier tones, I'm just saying they differ from each other, are you saying a mangaka's style does not change over the course of years? It's still a human, humans change, the style evolves, the author tries new ideas, experiments, you name it.
Experience reading a manga? What the hell are you talking about? Especially if the difference in our span is like 2 years. See the first sentence of mine.
I believe there are lots of people who got some things more the right way than you or me AND they have started reading the series more recently than us. This argument of yours is just silly.
It's like you're saying I say the whole series was just an idyll where nothing happened except Luffy and the guys had fun and happy time. Please stop making such assumptions and read this post carefully, again, if you need it.
And thanks for the dense argument with you, it was my first on the other hand :)
monkey king just got pwnt. his credibility is that hes got a star below his name lolololol
but in all seriousness monkey king is a good poster

I'm not an old user of this forums, but I've been reading the forums for like 2 years maybe, with breaks, mostly these kinds of threads, never expanded further and I have NO idea what this star is, don't really care, it's just a graphical forum rank and it means nothing for all I care.

Unlike the guy, I do agree with you that he is a good poster, although he has too high self esteem on some cases and thinks like he's at least a level above all the people in here which obviously is a blatant lie. He's just a smartass.
Yes fight the power. Make sure everyone knows how little you care for teh star force you rebel you
I'm not really into the forums as much as you guys are hence I don't know and don't particularly care. Never had a chance to find out, care to help me out instead of jumping into conclusions and attempting to sound like a cool kid to back up the buddy?
@Monkey:
I'm baffled to hell and back why people are so impressed with the dwarves strength. Like to the point that people literally forget that since the second darn volume we've seen feats like this casually thrown around by all manner of weaklings.
Stop treating them like supermen.
Actually, you're not quite right here. Regular weaklings normally aren't as powerful (remember Jonny and Yosaku, or whatever their names?). Given that the reconnaissance dwarf we saw isn't even a full-fledged soldier (supposedly), they're quite powerful for their stature. And Oda stressed Zoro's surprise for a reason - one just wouldn't expect that from those little guys.
Could be we'll see what the more powerful dwarfs are capable of.
I can see why AP has a bad reputation in certain other online communities. We must look like the biggest douchebags to new users when in reality we're only pointing out the flaws in their theories. :|
True. This forum can't quite be quite as open and accepting as NarutoForums.
It's not like NF don't bash the newbies. Especially Ohara Library when newbs are spouting bullshit. And Monkey King is a doucebag, albeit one with good arguments (most of the time, at least).

mate no ones having a go at you, we are here on this forum for whatever reason it is to discuss One Piece (the main reason) or to delve into off topic discussions in the other subforums. And if you think he is a smart ass, just think for a second that this is a forum where everyone is anoynmous (usually) and that no one really gives two f**ks about whether their opinion matters or not, so theres no need to be so judgmental and taking others' responses so seriously.

How do you know hes a douche bag have you met him in real life?
No wonder someone rated this thread 2 stars…You people are no longer discussing One piece..This is madness!

Ahh yeah. I don't know why i was trying to remember the page and all i could see was a blur with Robin tied down in a short dress. So i guess i actually do know why.
