Am I the only one who thinks Ocelot looks too old in the trailer? The guy is about 39, but he looks like he's in his late 50s to early 60s.
Here's a pic for reference:

There was a whole thing about the lighting causing hair to look gray which might be going on here as well. I don't think he looks too old at all.
Well, even in the shadows his hair is grey. But, it's not just the hair, the face looks sort of old, too.
On the other hand, I'm sure his life is quite stressful as one of the Patriots.
With Kojima trying to purposely fuck with player expectations (before the games release!) this might be the first time in years that a Metal Gear game has interested me. Also I don't mind David Hayter not voicing Big Boss, I've always thought that their should be more differences between BB and his clones. If Kojima intends to keep going down the MGS timeline he should be back to voice a young Solid Snake for the Metal Gear 1+2 remakes.

My dad is 45 and looks way older than that, so I can buy that he's 39. I mean, I'm 20 and my hair is already starting to turn gray.
Yeah, it's lighting, he looks fine. Am I the only one who thinks BB's hair should be grey after the coma? That 9 year gap was the ideal time for greying hair and an older voice. Instead still brown and now a younger sounding voice.
Really? My dad is turning 49, and while I haven't seen him in person in almost ten years, looking at a facebook pic of two years ago, he looks a lot younger than Ocelot.

Well, then they should've gotten Richard Doyle, as he did his voice in 4.
Like I said, after the 9 year coma he should of had greyed hair and Richard Doyle's voice. I consider this a huge fuckup on Kojima's part. I mean having him with brown hair and a younger voice for all intent and purposes is fine as Big Boss was born in 1935 and the Phantom Pain takes place in 1983, which puts Big Boss only at 48. But considering only 12 years after that has him look like this:
I think they could stand to make him a little older in the Phantom Pain.

I can't really feel much sympathy for him cause I believe he's talked about quitting the role before cause of the strain it puts him through. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if not he can't really play the victim.
I think Kojima and Hayter may just be trolling us, it would be genious if so
April first and he posts that? Him and Kojima are best buddies and in on it lol

Indeed, he aint just some VA who shows up in a booth every few years to do some lines. THE MOTHOFUCKA EVEN APPEARS AS HIMSELF IN MGS4!
There's some schenanigans goin on here.
Saw this viral video floating around the MGS message boards, could it be a new link in the chain of mysteries?
David Hayter also tweeted this message at or around the same time
I know things about things you know nothing about.

It would seem the plot thickens once again lol

Omg….if that doesnt spell it out that he is snake again then i dont know what is.
That guy has uploaded a new video..
Apparently that whole account and videos are fake, just some random YouTuber trying to get attention. Or at least that's what seems to be the notion. Wouldn't Konami step in on something like that or at least comment?
Yep, fake. The guy came out and said it was a stunt he did to "prove a point" and that he wasn't "trolling" people.
Right.

where did he say it at?
Konami and gamespot are teasing next weeks konami conference, especially snakes voice actor
David Hayter tweeted that he's excited for E3 and hopes he doesn't lose his voice.
Ya'know, it's pretty obvious he's not going anywhere but… why do this? Kojima is a troll but a good one... this isn't a good troll, this is just stupid.

But its still keeping the game in the publics eye and giving it notice. That alone is probably worth it to them, so they can keep the hype rolling from event to event.
So the big revelation of Konami's conference was that Kiefer Sutherland is playing Big Boss in this game.
Yeah. Kiefer Sutherland will be voicing Snake/Big Boss.
So much for the "obvious troll".
It works for me.
My MGS fanboying days are behind me. I honestly feel for Hayter himself, as he loves the role. But as for me… I think Kiefer is a great choice and he seems very excited for the role.
Didnt see this one coming, but now im confused as to why kiefer was also voicing ishmael in the tailer and gameplay as well. Kojima is single handedly making me skeptic about everything lol
Either this is still one big elobrate troll, or their merely had Keifer voicing Ishmael to… well, troll.
I figure David Hayter will do something in the next game. At first I thought he would voice in the beginning and it would switch off after a point, but this being Kojima I take everything with a grain of salt.

The common theory is considering we're getting DANGEROUSLY close to Metal Gear 1 territory is that Solid Snake will turn up and be voiced by Hayter. Snake is one weird dude, he goes from sounding like Kurt Russell, to sounding like Keifer Sutherland, to finally sounding like Richard Doyle.
Solid Snake is too young even in 1984, when Phantom Pain is set, to be voiced by David Hayter (unless he'll be good at voicing a teen Snake). That is unless PT progress in years closer to the Outer Heaven Uprising.
Would be funny to hear Hayter's voice coming out of a 12-year old Snake.
How was this awesomeness not posted yet?
Ok ive come around to kiefer's snake, hes gonna do just fine.
So, so excited for this game. Everything just looks so good. It looks like that shrapnel lodged in BB's head is messing with him as it looks like he kills Chico and a cell full of African children. So killing children is going to be one of the controversial things Kojima was talking about. There's also something else
The guy in the background here looks kind of like Big Boss. People are speculating that you are actually playing as Decoy Octopus imitating Big Boss. I don't know why that guy isn't doing or saying anything if he's actually Big Boss but it's an interesting theory.
Edit: Also the fact that it said "Punished Snake" and not "Big Boss" or anything like that.

That is one out there theory, and would put the raiden bait and switch to shame. I see the resemblance a bit, i mean hes at least dressed like big boss. But i think if anything perhaps instead that guy with the shades is decoy octopus posing as big boss while the real one does the wet work un noticed and he takes all the heat.
Extended trailer (with a bit of gore):
There's so much to sink in. So Ocelot is torturing Emmerich? And a guy who looks like … don't know who. I remember that Ocelot participated in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, where he received his nickname, something to do with torture, so that's nice. Shalashaska?
Kojima did say that revenge and racism are the themes. And now we have child soldiers. And Snake killing a few children, it appears. I like how dark it's getting. Although Zero and Cipher (The Patriots) have been messing with him, Big Boss is slowly turning into a monster and villain.
In the art for MGS1, Miller has an arm and leg, though, but that can be retconned since he was dead anyway. However, it's also interesting to hear that Miller is, as it appears, losing faith in the path Big Boss is taking, if I understood his words correct. All for revenge. I hope they don't retcon the fact that Miller helped Solid Snake infiltrate Zanzibar Land, and called Big Boss a monster. I assume Kojima hadn't planned so far ahead at the time, but continuity is nice.
Looks like Kojima's going for the title of most disturbing video game ever. He said that he kind of doesn't want to make any more MGS games so maybe he's trying to get it banned in as many places as possible so he doesn't have to any more :sideways: . Anyway it looks like it's going to be an amazing game. I'm still disappointed that there's no PC logo at the end though.
I changed the thread title.
Not really sure what to call it, since Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are two separate games… But they haven't really cleared up whats going on with everything.
So I called it MGS V to keep things simple.
Yah'll want me to change it, then lemme know.
Yeah, I honestly don't know WTF Kojima is going on about with that. Everything shown recently indicates it's called Metal Gear Solid V with a subtitle of The Phantom Pain and footage from both titles being woven together in single presentations. I honestly can't see how this is going to be anything but a single release. Maybe he means it's going to be two chapters in the game? Like in MGS2 with the Tanker and Big Shell incidents.
That is awesome to hear. That right there shows just how awesome an engine is that they made. People thought that was running on Xbone (tho Kojima did make it seem that way).
just goes to show that Kojima and his posse are at the top of their game. And ahead off the times.
mgs3 on the ps2 looked better than some ps3 games that are STILL being released!
At E3 Kojima has confirmed MGSV will have online multiplayer, it's being handled by Konami Los Angeles. He didn't say if it was Metal Gear Online or co-op, just "online multiplayer."
For people who didn't/couldn't watch the Xbone's conference on Spike when it aired, the 60 fps version of the trailer has been put up for streaming or downloading. It's not the extended version, unfortunately.

Is it just me or is Eli most likely Liquid Snake?
That's the general belief.
Child soldiers? I'm sure we'll see a Raiden cameo!
Child soldiers? I'm sure we'll see a Raiden cameo!
I dunno about that. Raiden was born in the 1980s and the Phantom Pain takes placed in 84. He was a child solider, not a baby solider… but that'd be hilarious to see. Also who knows, maybe PP starts in 84 but years progress during it.
Im also seeing a few theories that Paz is the girl seen held captive and the one they are operating on in the trailer. And it would make sense given chico's expression during that and the fact we know she was being held at the same facility he was during the events of ground zeroes.
