I am truely grateful of getting Witcher 2, not only it was an amazing game but more importantly it introduced me to whole Witcher saga, the whole setting on world of Geralt is amazing. I had to knew more so day after I got witcher 2 I went to local library and borrowed both Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish. Finnish translation was amazing and finnish translator was awarded in Poland for great translation and books were truely something else.
Now I have been reading fantasy books all my life but Witcher books were worlds apart, while most fantasy is directed to teens and younger people, the witcher books took much more mature approach and whole setting, dialogue and charecters are much more realistic and crisp. After reading those two books who were collections of small chapters of Geralt's life as witcher I finally saw first book of Ciri's saga series. It was first book of longer coherent story line of Witcher and I had to buy it when I saw it.
Elven Blood was easily best fantasy book I have read for a few years and perhaps best book aswell. Ciri is my absolute favorite charecter and how her was portrayed in books made her so much fun to read, not that other charecters such as Geralt,Yennefer, Dandelion or rest were any bad either quite the contrary I really love them all. Now finally at this summer second part of saga is coming translated, Age of despise and boy if I am not excited about it, I already reserved it and I cant wait to get my hands on it.
Witcher 2 of course spoiled some events to me since Witcher games are happening after Second Nilfgaard invasion whitch is happening in Ciri saga. I dont know why there was no mention of Ciri at Witcher 2 but I have to wait for books to learn what have been happened.
Of course there should be 4-5 books out as other languages but I dont want to spoil myself, I dont mind reading books in english but this time translation is so good so I want to read them first at finnish even though I dont need subtitles when I watch english movies.
Bravó Sapkowski… bravo indeed.
