Just finished InFamous 2 (good path).
Start it over on hard mode for the bad path. So much fun.
What are you Playing?

I've been playing Luigi's Mansion 2.I've never been more frustated with a game before.Even though it's really good(music, atmosphere, gameplay)it does some things that makes me want to just break the cartridge in two and eat it.I mean there are some parts where you need to grab and throw the Toads.Well my game is like "fuck you" and I can't grab them for shit.Well, what the fuck I am supposed to do?I called Nintendo support and they told me "well we can speak with the support in Germany and report the problem".There 3 hours of my life wasted.
-
Darksiders.
I think i'd have enjoyed the game a bit more if i didn't play GoW before, the game looks like a lesser version of the franchise (hero losing power, same finishers without any qte..etc).
Also
I cringed at that moment.
It's a cool game though, just that part of my enjoyment died.
-
Just played Rayman Legends Challenge App for an obscene amount of time. Goddamn, it's like suddenly I can't stop playing my Wii U … such a strange, new feeling ...
-
Right now I've been alternating between Street Fighter IV, Gears of War 2, Black Ops 2, and Dishonored. Trying to finish the achivements on most of those before I move onto other games.
-
I just finished fire emblem's main quest. I think i'll keep playing for all the supports and i also made a female avatar now but only for the sake of it. It can be my quick pick-up-and-play game. Other than that i've almost finished sega racing 1, just a couple of time trials left and just started playing persona 4 arena. I'm really liking that so far
-
I just finished playing the game OFF by Mortis Ghost. It's a psychological rpg game. This game will really screw your mind. I cried after finishing the game.
-
I don't even know yet what that is :D.
fez is also one of the few games that has me keeping notes.
I still don't understand what those big stones with those weird cubic signs are.
I don't understand what the stuff the two owls told me means.
Most of the treasure maps have me clueless about them.
Those small stone like logs with cubic holes at the top are also weird.
So much mystery and so much still to discover. It's not a game I would recommend to anyone but to those that like to get into things it's insanely awesome and damn the level design is pretty outstanding.
That had to take some pretty amazing understanding of space. It's some special and incredibly hard/complex puzzle. You'll find out later Gotten any further?
Agreed on the game not being for everyone, especially the kind of gamers who only play the triple-A titles.I highly recommend going for 100% by the way. You'll get to see some unique environments, and get to solve some insane puzzles.

Going for 100% in GoW2? Doesn't that have a crazy 100k kills achievement? o_O Props if you get that one.
I'm finishing my insane/3-star/declassified playthrough of Gow: Judgement at the moment. Pretty much game and not too hard.
-
I've been playing dat Neverwinter (Online), and dat SimCity. Don't judge me.
I'm waiting for the US release of Dynasty Warriors 8, the release of The Last of Us, Grand Theft Auto V, Dark Souls II, and Beyond: Two Souls.

Exactly what I'm going for. Today I got to 40000. I'm thinking if I do 10000 a week, I can have it by next month. None of my friends have it that I know of. So yes, it would be a pretty awesome feat.
-
Theme Hospital. It's really cool, but my brother thinks otherwise :P
@The:I've been playing dat Neverwinter (Online), and dat SimCity. Don't judge me.
I won't judge you, the best thing about that SimCity is the Battlefield 3 I got afterwards.
-
I just finished Hitman Absolution. I don't see why people say it's a terrible game. The level design could be more Hitman-y but it didn't go full linear tps. A lot of the levels had many different ways to take targets out, when you were given a target. Hopefully the next game goes back to the sandbox and target levels of the other games. Also, it's a damn good looking game and a pretty good port.
-

.Yeah I've gotten through the whole game now and did almost all the puzzles on my own, I solved the fez numbers one with a friend with a lot of testing and validating via testing on puzzles. The classroom with hints to the numbers was pretty weird and the dice didn't help much either so yeah.
We tried to get the obelisk puzzle where you have to decipher the alphabet but we gave up and just googled it and with that the rest of the red cube puzzles.
They're quite crazy. I was a bit bumped by the alphabet one since it is quite specific to english native speakers and even then I doubt a majority of people would know the key too it (won't spell it out to not spoil it).But yeah fez is a great game and a very different kind of puzzle game.
I just bought Fez last night as well and so far I'm impressed. I'm really happy to be getting puzzles and mysteries that AREN'T super obvious or don't have some tutorial pop up and tell me what to do every time I take too long. But I'm really early in the game. I have heard from friends that you probably want to jot notes down for the cyphers and stuff so yeah. I'll probably post more after playing more. I barely left the village.
So how is it going with your fez experience?
-
@CCC:
Yeah, I systematically went through everything in the text dump… definitely got everything listed within specific ruins areas, except the wind/water/fire/blood and maybe the blocks in the walls in CoInferno? But someone said that those tablets don't count, so I've still got at least five unaccounted for.
Do you remember where these three are?"There is a small opening in the wall"
"There is a small opening in the stone wall"
"A faint light shines through the cracks in the wall"Only one of those three is the lizard light in GoIllusion, although I forget which one.
Sorry. I wasn't paying attention to this thread for a while. But no, I don't think I recall these. There's quite a bit in the text dump that I feel was probably repeated and mis-written, so don't think too hard about them.
I got the Curry Addict Achievement a few minutes ago. Panda was correct that the activation of this thing is really wonky. It activated on Mother's second form(I didn't wait for the Zs to slow down either. It happened as soon as Lemeza went to sleep). It strange because I definitely did activate the pause animation dozens of times on this exact form before already.
So yeah 64/64 Achievements! I was already satisfied with the ones I got before. Specifically the 100% cast credits, and killing all the bosses without subs. But I won't lie and say that it doesn't feel really freakin great to get this thing done. If La-Mulana wasn't so fun and replayable, I'd probably not even try.
Now that I'm a bit burnt on the game, I really do desire another game like it. Unfortunately, there probably won't be another (Maybe if Bunny Must Die gets released on Steam, I'd see what kind of Achievements it has)
-

Sure you don't want to do a complete… 32 health run!? Bwah ha ha
! It was a lot easier than I thought. Your health gets restored every few enemies that you kill, and liberal, deliberate, patterned use of caltrops makes Tiamat and Mother a breeze.
No but seriously, congrats on all the achievements! I've just got that one single scan to go… >:D
I'm thinking of trying Fez next. It's got mixed reviews for sure, but a lot of the criticism seems to be regarding reasons that I love La Mulana for (difficulty, puzzle obscurity, etc.).

Hate you so much now. I hope you died during the escape sequence, and I hope it destroys your save file. Hahah!
But damn. I knew using Caltrops would have made Tiamat or any boss easier really. But my run forbid those tactics, so I guess… It felt kinda boring abusing I-frames, and it was not very fun trying to figure out how to legitimately dodge Tiamat's default green laser attacks.
Here's a fun challenge tho. Hard mode, no caltrops(like at all, unless you want to drop from ladders or something), no Fairy Clothes, No software combos, no whip upgrades until all Guardians are dead. I did this one before it was a blast. Baphomet especially was my favorite. Especially since I forbid using ramming into witches for I-frames, and for it being an all round intense fight.

Hmm. But no restriction on health orbs? Or subweapons for attacking?
Sounds fun :D
Your challenge + 32 health challenge honestly seems unmanageable though. Dodging Tiamat's crap for as many rounds as it would take the un-powered-up axe to kill her… it would come down to a matter of statistically impossible luck (dodging the mega laser honestly and without caltrops is doable, but the hair ring lasers and pink chest lasers seem way too random)....In the 32 health run I took out Bapho's second form in 2 seconds with 7 pistol shots. Felt kind of bad about that... even though it was the only time I resorted to the gun.
Didn't die in the escape sequence. The frequent exp. health refill + only 2 damage from spikes really balances it out. -

Didn't die in the escape sequence. The frequent exp. health refill + only 2 damage from spikes really balances it out.Yeah. Tiamat's design was made specifically for you to get hit with small attacks enough to wear you out(so she can instantly finish you with her huge laser). So unless it's tool assisted, the fight is impossible with my 32 health conditions. There's too many random variables.
As for my challenge. Subs are fine. I just avoided the Pistol. The thing really packs too much of a punch. The rest of the subs are really situational and I feel there's a degree of skill when you choose when and where to use them.
Life Orbs are fine too. I like the idea of being punished, but not to a point where you lose it all in an instant. So any amount of health is absolutely fine. Especially considering how painfully damaging things are without armor, and I LIKE being put into a situation where I'm wary of being struck by certain attacks. The only exploits I allowed were for convenience purposes. Like using the Lamp of Time to skip sub-bosses like Zu and Beelzebub. Minaly because they are so not fun to fight(even when using the Lamp on them). If you didn't know btw, you can stop time before stepping into a sub-boss room and kinda just… freeze the doors from closing in on you.
(ps: I was joking on the escape thing)

So how is it going with your fez experience?
It's been interesting. I think there's a problem in that Fez is actually two games; one is a puzzle platformer and one is just a puzzle game. And honestly, the platforming part really detracts from the puzzle part. I have something like 25 cubes (and various maps, a few anti-cubes, an artifact etc) and I think there has only been one time so far in all of my playing where I have solved a platforming-related puzzle and felt somewhat smart for it. It involved changing water levels and using a rotatable platform in order to re-position a floating platform.
Most of the time I feel it's just a struggle to keep track of what doors go where, and what areas have stuff I can't do yet (either because of locked doors and I'm out of keys, out of reach things that I may need maps or further info for, or glyph puzzles that I don't even want to attempt to go for until I've explored the entire world). The world map is pretty crappy and annoying to inspect.
I have deciphered at least one map already (can't remember if any more) but it wasn't anything amazing. Did some other sort of meta stuff like the QR code and a pulsing beacon. I am still at that point you described where I'm unsure of what the significance of the 2 owls' messages are. I haven't figured out anything glyph-related like I said or those monoliths (one area has a door that gets an inscription of the monolith's scribbles at night). And I'm pretty sure I know what you mean by the posts with a cube near the top; don't know what they are yet.
But mostly I'm just groaning at the thought of traveling back to all these areas to decipher things.
-
Interesting comment, I actually didn't take issue with it being two games. I actually appreciated it. It helped pacing the activities out at least with the route I took. It was kind of encouraging to be stuck at some puzzles and then being able to move on to do some platforming and be rewarded for it. It's something the layton games aren't quite as good at with having sometimes stretches of puzzles that can get somewhat tiring. But maybe I just lack mental endurance.
I totally agree regarding the map, it's lot of fiddleling. It helped having a page of notes I kept during the playthrough to keep track of things, but the game definitely tested my nature of disliking not being able to complete things. Leaving an increasing number of rooms alone until the right time didn't feel really good for my psych.
As for backtracking it gets a lot of better once you've unlocked some of the fast travel methods and know your way around shortcuts(especially if you name the maps connected).
-
I agree with you on the letting go part. The completionist inside of me is struggling. It's like a never-ending recursive test of my composure.
The reason I don't appreciate the platforming aspect is that it's really so boring. I mean I don't know if the last 10% gets mind-blowingly better, but it's all wasted potential so far. You can change the alignment of platforms by rotating. I get it. Each area has a mild gimmick that gets old instantly (bouncing, rotating objects, bombs, water levels, or acid levels in the worst monochrome green ever**,** etc). And all of the platforming-related "puzzles" are so self-contained. Isolated in tiny areas. I was really hoping for elaborate puzzles requiring real problem-solving skills and astute awareness of the spacial implications of rotation. But all the "thinking" puzzles seem to be these sort of meta puzzles; the game within the game.
As for traversing the map, secret doors don't help me too much because you still have to track where they go. I don't have a decent system for naming and organizing places I've been and marking down notable things, such as where doors exist and where they go. I mean there are the warp portals but that's about it.

Platinum'd InFamous 2 now starting Catherine.

I see where you're coming from but don't share that experience as I was really into all those meta puzzles and didn't really crave for better platforming, but now that you say it I actually kind of want a game that does what you describe, too.
I still think fez is incredible but I wouldn't mind playing a game with its core mechanic taking a more integral role in the gameplay, would sound pretty cool. -
The non-platforming puzzles ARE pretty cool. I'm up to something like 30 normal cubes and 12 anti-cubes. I still haven't even touched the "hub" areas for 4+ cubes required haha. Still waiting to explore everywhere I can before taking on the cryptic stuff. I just have no way of assessing which things require no previous knowledge and which do. For example, I only recently stumbled upon the area with a dot grid that displays shapes based on your button input. I was finally able to map out the meaning of the shapes and solve all the puzzles with the vertical scribbles.
I wasn't really consciously aware that there are various symbol sets, and I'm finally being able to separate them. I saw scribblings in a library that I can now associate with the giant bell. There a****re still some puzzles that I'm pretty sure are self-contained that I chose to put off until I am done with exploring. I haven't solved the telescope puzzle yet (and it's quite annoying that you have like a 1-minute window of night where you can even see anything). There is also a puzzle where you have to arrange blocks according to shapes drawn from multiple perspectives that I left alone.
One thing I did come across was an actual fun platforming section (two actually). One where platforms appear/disappear according to the music, and one where you are racing lava up an area. It wasn't hard but it was really enjoyable.
Found my 3rd owl as well. The only unifying factor I can find is numbers. 6, 8, 10, 13, 64. Then there is "the one is many, the many are one" or whatever. Not sure how to interpret that. It reminds me of the 3 Musketeers so maybe it's a 3? Or something I don't get yet :P
-
Brutal Legend.
I heard about this game before it came, i was hyped but then i forgot it.
Time passed and then it popped out from nowhere.
I guess this is destiny.
This is truly the best thing ever for every metal fan. Screw the bad camera controls and the repetitive missions, just having to litteraly shred people to death or pull of a facemelter while listening to classics is worth the ride.
-
A friend of mine got me into dota 2 lately, oh my god is that game enraging if you play it alone. It constantly reminds me why I don't play online with random people anymore. Over 30 games I've witnessed pretty strong verbal abuse in 14 of them some directed at me and some at others. The worst about it is that ganging up on the weakest player seems to be something common. But man it's truly sickening, not even starcraft was that bad probably because most people don't have the apm to spare to write insults all game long but damn…

You should try League of legends. Dota looks like a little paradise with flowers and bunnies compared to League of legends.
Your best bet if you're alone is to mute the bad mouthing overly dramatic kids, get better at the game and rise to a level were all the insults are toned down.

I actually did 1-2 years ago and it actually wasn't as bad as dota2 is right now.
That said I wasn't quite fond of league from a gameplay perspective I like what dota2 does quite a bit more. -
Finished my first playthrough of Catherine.
Now going for the other endings and some other trophies.
But there's no way I'll get the platinum on this one. -
I've been replaying the hell out of Fallout 2 recently. I'm at level 23 now, but my character's pretty much a monster, and once I get the Sniper perk at level 24, I should be unstoppable during combat. There's not much left to do, though, with New Reno and San Francisco being the only places left with any quests before the final mission. Oh, and there's still the last 2 levels of the Mariposa base, which I'll be sure to clear after I get to level 24…
-
Yesterday my brother got Portal 2.
I honestly did not understand the game for a good half hour….but I eventually got it into. GlaDOS is awesome and the game really forces you to think. I want to try the single player mode, if only for seeing how hiliarous Wheatley is. (my brother was doing it)
-
More Fallout 2: Thanks to some patience and a lot of sneaking, I was able to become the made man for all four of the New Reno gangs… which lasted about a minute, before I turned on them. I wiped out the Salvatores and the Mordinos (along with all of their associates) in a few minutes, and I'm saving the Bishops and Wrights for next time...
-
Playing Dishonored right now, it´s not bad but somewhat monotonous. Thinking of starting either Deus Ex or Tomb Raider after finishing Dishonored.
-
Been playing Candy Box all day, it's insanely addictive.
-
I'm never gonna get 100% on it, but i played some more Crash 3 for the sake of gathering the colored gems.
I'd never taken or witnessed the multicolored gem route before, so i wanted to try it out.It was just a mix of the hazards from the Egyptian levels, super easy to traverse because you already know the methods of getting through.
Kinda disappointed. Oh well, at least i got another gem out of it. -
Splitting time between Boarderlands 2, and Dead Rising 2.
-
Playing dat League of Legends.

I managed to get 104% (to unlock some measly fireworks lol), and I can't tell you how long it took me. One level….the plane one in the secret warp room....frustrated me because I was always milliseconds away from getting the gold.

Bonesaw: The game.
It's a really well done platformer and action game. Hardcore as hell too. I'm not sure if I'll finish it since I'm not a huge fan of gauntlet based platformers with a generic platora of collectables that don't offer much aside from 1-ups or bonus levels, but Bonsaw's mechanics are sure interesting. Killing enemies increases these gauge that allows you to temporally become excessively overpowered, and it's works pretty well since the game actually has a combat system. Collecting the collectables in the levels not only gives you access the bonus levels(that I heard gives you the opportunity to increase your attack and health), but also increases the rate of your super gauge. So there's no overbearing feeling on grinding for a single reward since going out of your way to pick up one feels worth the effort.
And along with that, there's dozens of other ways to become pretty strong or experiment with levels enough to replay them. Specially the hockey sticks you can find in certian levels. I only found 2 so far, but they are really neat. My favorite of the two is the one where you throw it like boomerang and repeatedly combo enemies into submission. While the hockey sticks are easy to lose if you get hit alot, it really feels satisfying to be temporarily powerful. And also really cool when you discover that the different hockey sticks allowes you to access alternative paths or unreachable locations.
So yeah. It's a really well designed 8-bit game. And hell. The music is surprisingly good too, which is expected. Indie games always seem to find these great obscure talents.
-
I finished Alan Wake's American Nightmare yesterday which was pretty cool. Started Mark of the Ninja today which is a lot better than I was expecting it to be so far, it being a 2D stealth game. It's actually pretty challenging at times.

I'll probably try hunting for some more time trials today.
This guy inspires me with how easy he makes it look.
Of course it's not (unless you practice as much as him), but it's nice encouragement all the same. He also gives some good shortcut tips. -

If that kind of skill is required to get Platinums… I wonder just how you get Developer times. I've gotta look that up later. Those underwater levels seem like you make a lot of close calls with enemies the whole time.
-
More Fallout 2: Now I'm at level 28 (or was it 29?) and I've wiped out pretty much every hostile still on the main map. I started with the Wrights and the Bishops in New Reno, then moved on to the Enclave at Navarro, and stopped playing once I reached the Oil Rig. Next on the kill list: Frank Horrigan and every hostile on that rig…
-
Still playing Catherine.
I'm trying to get gold on all stages in normal mode.
After that I'll try Babel Mode out. -
Been playing Kaizoku Musou 2 ever since I got it ~10 days ago. So much better than the first one.
-
Just finished miles edgeworth investigations 1.
Now continuing Mother 1.Why must every dungeon be a maze? Currently on mt. Itoi
-
Finished Fallout 2 earlier today. The battle against Frank Horrigan was substantially easier with the help of the turrets and Granite's squad (this time, all of my followers survived!). Now I've gotten the hint book after the ending, so I'll use it to gain a few more perks and then wander around to find the special encounters and maybe kill every living thing on the map…
-
Yesterday at work I was just thinking about random things to pass the time, and somehow I ended up thinking about ATV Offroad Fury. So tonight I dug it up and put it in. Just as much fun as I remember.
I'm also glad I actually got myself to turn my PS3 on for the first time in five months. I've really been out of games for awhile.
-
Bioshock Infinite.
the story so far up to the 1/4 point of the game so far shocked me….and i like the fact it came with bioshock 1 .
-
Fortune Summoners. I don't get why my friends suggest such things to me, but they know what I like :3 I'm not a huge fan of moe by any means(especially shit like Lucky Star, K-on, and other pandering stuff), but there's something charming about it when it's done just right I guess. I was skeptical on the game, but it was pretty good. It really did a good job and nailing the feeling of being a fun loving adventurer that would not question going into dangerous situations for second. Even the danger is lighthearted as heck, and it even gives me the Adventure Time vibes when it comes down the dialogues for the dungeon bosses.
That said, the difficulty is satisfyingly nasty. It surprised me. Enemies were just as fast and aggressive as the party. I mean, there is a degree of skill involved, but the battle system for the most part feels very rock-paper-scissors. As in, there's numerous variables that can make you dominate enemies or be completely wrecked by them. Traps were obvious, but I jumped out of my chair after seeing how much the traps HURT. Dungeon crawl for the most part is a rewarding experience, especially the one I recently did where I found myself getting killed in one jam over and over again.
This is only the first 4 hours of the game though. I'm kinda hoping the difficulty stays constant and fresh. But if it does not, the "everyday is an adventure" theme would keep me going.
